Makes a Person Want to Shake His Head

A preacher (Bishop Woods) caught my attention a while ago.  He knew what he was talking about.  Then he mentioned roughly that he went into a Walgreens and picked up a package of masks.  On the reverse side, he saw the disclaimer “Will not prevent corona disease.”

Now that just makes a person want to shake his head.  It causes me no end of confusion.  Just what is the purpose of the masks?  Just why is it that we were required to wear masks that the manufacturer admits won’t work?  What is it that Fauci knows that we don’t?  Just why does he want us to wear masks that he knows don’t work?

I mean, if the manufacturer knows they don’t work, I’m sure Fauci is well aware of it.  Does he like the discomfort they cause?  Does he like it when we all walk into banks looking like bank robbers?  Does he enjoy the fact that he has made it impossible to eat, drink, or play the oboe.  Does he like all the commotion he created on airplanes from 2-year-olds?

Let us take this just a little farther.  What about the shots.  Properly, the shots should have been marked, “Will not prevent corona virus.”  You do realize it had nearly zero affect.  On the other hand, they did cause problems, especially with younger people.  Some had heart problems.  I suspect there were deaths from it.

Yet, even today, the boosters are still encouraged.

Guess what?  They don’t work.  It’s time to stop pretending they work.  It’s time we start using different means, something that might actually work.  You know.  Things like those meds that actually showed signs of working that the government and social media mocked so devastatingly.

Just shows to go, the government, especially one run by Joe doesn’t know best.  Oh! And by the way.  Those social media outfits have a lot of apologizing to do.  Some folks lost their jobs.  Some were forced from the military and lost their retirement.  Some folks went to jail for their the stupidity of a few who had not an inkling of knowledge on the subject.  Best to let real doctors, real researchers do the job.  We need to keep the politicians and social idiots out of it.

Oh! By the way, many unmasked diseased were welcomed into this country by the government with diseases far worse than the corona virus.

Just makes a person want to shake his head.

Unwinnable

Over time, I’ve come to the conclusion that the US will never win another war. The reason is more than clear. We have forgotten how to fight to win. That makes it logical that we cannot win if we continue to fight only enough to keep from losing.

Then, over time, we inevitably tire of the fight and we lose. More accurately, we give up and withdraw.

When we went into Iraq, it was said we learned the lesson of Vietnam. Yet, about 10 years later, we abandoned the Iraq people and watched the massive killing of over a million. We did even worse in Afghanistan.

How much worse can we do? I think we are going to find out soon.

New & Old

A while ago, I noticed a new shooting range nearby. For a number of weeks I drove by looking from a distance. Yesterday, I went in, just to look around. I must say, I was very much impressed.

First, it was well stocked. They had a wide variety of new and used. Yes, they had many varieties of the AR15, the civilian version of the M16. To my surprise, they even had an M14.

Came close to buying it. It had been over fifty years since I touched one. I was surprised to realize that it felt quite familiar to me, if you’ll permit, as a long lost friend. Even so, I was reminded of its nine pound weight. I reluctantly decided against the purchase. I could afford the gun but not the hobby. Also, it would be a magnet to many a thief who might find out I have it.

Secondly, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. It didn’t take long for me to realize it. If a person is going to buy a gun, it is good to know they are buying from someone who knows his wares.

Finally, it seemed a good business. It is modern, clean and well organized.

I suspect they are the type that would seek out complaints, but there aren’t likely many.

Why can’t all businesses that way.

As for the M14 I much prefer it over the M16. I qualified with both and, though the M16 is much easier to tote and fire, I have far more faith in the M14. It might be older. It might have more kick. I am sure that it is more accurate and lethal. And that is what a rifle is for.

Competition is a Wonderful Thing

Let’s go back to the days of yore. Let’s imagine 3 cobblers set up shop. Which one will have the most success. To some degree, the one that is the fastest. However, the cobbler who makes a thousand shoes will never succeed unless he can sell his shoes. Therefore, his shoes need to be of good quality and the proper sizes. No one will buy shoes that are too small or will fall apart in a week.

If there were just 1 cobbler, we’d be stuck with whatever he wanted to make. The footware would be ugly, ill fitting and they wouldn’t last. The instant a second cobbler opens up shop, and then a 3rd and fourth, the quality would go up and the cost would go down.

It’s the way competition works and it’s wonderful. For well over 200 years, it has turned the USA to the greatest nation ever. There is no other country where people are willing to risk everything to get in. Moreover, as badly as the illegal aliens are treated, they hide in fear of being sent home.

Yet we prevent fair competition in one of the most important parts of our society. Of course private schools have a hard time competing with public schools. The government is picking up the tab for public schools.

Yet, there are thousands of parents willing to make great sacrifices to put their children in private schools. The why is quite simple. Public schools lack quality. They simply lack good teachers, good curriculum or good results.

The libs brag about public schools but, take away public funding and they would instantly go away. I know this is true because the libs themselves have said as much. They have said if monies are diverted to private schools, the public schools would go away. They actually live in fear of it.

Well, maybe they should go away. It is the way of competition. Only the better schools would survive. Only the best teachers would continue to teach. It is the American way. It is what made America great. Why in the world should we settle for a less than a mediocre education system when we are paying for the best?

Settling for mediocre schools is worse than Settling for mediocre shoes. And yet we stand by and watch our public school funds being poured down the proverbial drain…without results.

Who Bought the Paintings?

To be sure, there are likely a few ways to determine who bought the paintings that were painted by Joe’s son. It could be a long tedious task. After all, Joe isn’t so much a good public servant, but he does know how to cover his sins.

You find out who initially laid the money down at the auction. Then, regardless of who does what with the so-called art works, there is likely a stack or two or three of money, may gold, maybe bit coin coming from others: the real sources of the bribes. These might be, but not limited to the communists, the Chicoms, the going green outfits and particularly those who build electric cars.

On the other hand, we could just ask Joe. He knows. It just is; he’s not going to say. However, it’s still simple. Just look at who is receiving the checks. I mean that is sort-of the object of the bribe. Also, you notice how quickly the crude oil spigots were shut down and the border was open. Do you suppose the cartels had something to do with the so-called purchase of the so-called art.

As the aside for today: I wonder just how many of those grand works are being displayed on a wall in some millionaire’s home and how many have found their way to the local garbage heap. Can you imagine some pennyless bum pulling out a half million painting… then learning it’s not worth a cup of capuchino. Then to, I suppose some could have been gifted the fabulous works of art. I mean it isn’t everyone who can claim they have a painting worth 500 grand hanging on their living room wall.

No Comparison

In 2021, more than 70,000 people died from fentenyl.

In 2022, 1192 were killed by police. This includes those that were classified as justified.

The whole nation is about to come apart at the seems because of the death of one man, who was under the influence and resisting arrest. While I feel horrible at the loss of any life, there is just no comparison. Where is the outrage of the thousands of lives lost to fentenyl?

Moreover, the death of the man in Memphis was the indirect result of drug abuse. Had he not been under the influence, it is highly likely he would not have been stopped.

Maybe, just maybe, someone should show a little anger at the characters that sold the victim the drug. (I’m not sure, but I believe one of the earlier reports said he was on speed.)

Finally, may I say something about the mainstream media. They spent hours on the death of one man while hardly mentioning what led up to the horribly bad incident. The reason that hundreds of thousands have died is because of illegal drug distribution, which we can trace back to China and the cartels in Mexico.

Joe is really upset over one man in Memphis. Not one word by anyone about the murderers shipping poison over the border.

Note that I call them murderers. Most of their victims fail to survive and return for a second purchase. If the purpose of the cartels was to make money, they’d not choose to sell the poison they are killing more with their chemical warfare than we lost in Vietnam.

Jesus Alone Saves

There is a church on a corner, which has a sign that clearly says, “Jesus alone saves.” I’m told that, from time to time, the preacher of the church gets a phone call complaining about the sign. I suspect maybe one or two of the complaints were a little threatening.

I really don’t get a kick out of the complaints but it does illustrate a point. There is no person on earth who gets more angry at such a sign as them that need it. Such a sign causes no harm, no damage. Yet, many atheist fear the signs as if they will hunt them down and instantly convert them, regardless.

The thought is, of course, ludicrous. God does not force salvation on anyone. He does provide us with the information, the opportunity and a little encouragement from time to time but he never forces anyone to accept salivation.

The question comes to mind, just why is the devout atheist afraid of 3 words to the point that it drives them to such hate? Just why is it that it drives a man to complain and even threaten.

Actually, it goes further than that. It can cause strife between brothers or sisters. Should a son say a word to his father, the father might banish the son from his presence. It’s not something that might happen. It occurs, possibly, daily.

We who try to help our fellow humans are in danger of, figuratively losing that part of us that thinks simply for trying keep a man from something worse than physical death.

You doubt me? Here’s one for you. Sometime when you’re at an office Christmas party, try mentioning something about the birth of Christ and why He died for us. Must I explain, it is His birth we are celebrating. On the other hand, could it be the birth is an excuse to drink and get drunk?

For my aside today, maybe I can take this opportunity to remind one and all of the 1st amendment. That sign is on church property and the church has every right to put it there, at least for now. Just as we can change TV channels, no one is required to read the sign, though it would likely be a better world if people would read it and head it. As I mentioned, the atheists are the ones who need that little piece of truth the most.

What Scares Me About Last Election

I could go on tirades about all the lies told by the dems. I could go on and on about the foolishness of open borders and giveaway programs. I might even remind everybody about the stupidity of putting mentally challenged people into office.

The thing is, it’s all pointless. I can shout it from the highest hilltops; distribute it throughout the valleys.

It simply won’t do any good while the vast majority prefer the lies after they hear the truth. It serves no purpose to throw a life preserver to people who prefer to drown.

What scares me is when the people are tossed flashlights, they prefer to live in the dark. No amount of truth will help those who actively prefer to believe the lies.

It is no wonder the dems lie. It is no wonder the great darkness is closing in. It is no wonder that life is leaving when the masses prefer the death.

To be sure, John, in the first chapter of John, tells us that about people preferring the dark. I understood what he said. I believed what he said. I just never before realized just to what degree.

Sometimes I Wonder About Ads Actors & Models

I was waiting in a doctor’s office many winters ago and looking in magazine. I came across a large photo ad of a woman. The ad had little in the way of words and the woman had little in the way of clothing.

I laughed and covered the few words and showed the photo to my wife. Then, I asked her what she thought the ad was about. She shrugged and I uncovered the few words. She laughed too when she realized the ad was about shoes.

Nowadays, I think back over the ad. I wonder how many shoes it sold, how much the ad costs, and how much the model was paid. Then again, I look at things in ways no one else does. My wife will attest to it. My biggest question was and is, did the woman even know what she was advertising?

Such is the case in many modern day ads with scantily dressed women striking well-planned posses. Sometimes they act as if they are trying to lose what little clothing they have. The question comes to my mind, does the woman really know that she’s advertising a little magic pill?

Sometimes I wonder, if you ask the woman what the ad is for, could she say? For that matter can the photographer?

It is amazing what these ad people can do. Coca-Cola put a bunch of people on the side of a mountain and convinced the world that they would like teach the world to sing. The ad became reqested causing a problem for the stations. If they just played the ad on request, they would provide free advertising. Wonder if anyone foresaw that.

Here’s the real kicker. Only a small handful of people were recorded the song. We never got to hear all those folks on the hill. I wonder if they knew it. I wonder if they even knew the words, though I imagine they did.

Such is the case from time to time. I imagine the director of a new commercial finds a good looking dancer to jump around and mouth the words as we never see the real singers.

Maybe we need a truth in advertising law. Any time the models aren’t the ones we hear, a disclaimer should be flashed on the screen. Also all models should be told ahead of time what they will be advertising. It’s only fair. If they are going to put words in their mouths, they really should know what the words are.

Moreover, if we are to believe the words, or the poses, at least those presenting them should know what they are advertising, even if they don’t believe them…that is even if they know them to be false…that is…even if they know them to be lies.

Or, in the case of the one selling shoes, no matter how little clothing she is wearing.
