Anonymous Source

There are 3 major problems with anonymous sources:

  1. There is the possibility that they are completely fabricated.  If they are real or not, they appear the same, with one exception.  They have a tendency to confirm a convenient point of view.
  2. There is no way to challenge the source.  While the source might believe what they say, it is also possible they are mistaking.
  3. The source might be biased in many different ways.  For instance, if I were angry with someone, I might try to spread vicious rumors about him simply for revenge.

To be sure, there might be a grain of truth to what is said.  It does make it easier to sell the falsehood.

There is one more thing you might note.  The source might be completely truthful as far as it goes.  However, the source just might be withholding, or is unaware of something that might cast a different light on the situation.  let’s face it.  We have all been stuck in situations when all explanations make things sound worse.

It is a common practice among dummycrats and communists to use half-truths.  It is also a common practice among reporters and papers lacking ethics… such as The New York Times.   The truth is, I don’t believe anything from the Times, not until it is well confirmed.  This is especially true when they site anonymous sources.

Large Metal Boxes

About six months ago, I started searching for large metal boxes, steel or aluminum was fine, either would do.  I wanted something about a foot high and two feet long.  I Googled large metal boxes.  I looked on Amazon.com for large metal boxes.  I found nothing larger than two or three inches at the most.

It kind of surprised me.  Metal boxes used to be quite common.  Nowadays, I guess not so much.  Everything is plastic.

Now we get to the main reason I write this.  Ever since I started the search, I have been deluged with advertisements for metal boxes.  I wouldn’t mind.  Actually, I might even appreciate it.  But, as you can imagine, none of them was large, or even big.  That software that generates those advertisements don’t seem to be so perfect.  Moreover, all they have succeeded in doing is to just add to my frustration.

As a side note, I did find a solution, so all you advertisers need not bother me any more.  I was walking through Home Depot the other day and noticed that they sold one foot squares of metal, both steel and aluminum.  I bought six of them, some glue and got busy.  In just a little while, I had a 12 inch cube and it works great.  In fact it worked so good, I just might build a few more of them.

Isn’t it wonderful when difficult problems have simple solutions?

(This part has been added on.)

The thought just occurred to me.  It is a shame I know nothing about welding, other than a little about the theory.  If I knew how to weld, I just might be able to make the metal boxes and sell them to augment my retirement.  One thing is for sure.  I’d not have much competition.  Clearly, no one else wants to make the things.

Bolton’s Testimony

Much has been said about the possibility of getting Bolton to testify.  I look at it this way.  If he testifies and says nothing bad about the president, it would add to the embarrassment of the dummycrats.  If he does say something bad about the president, it is still highly unlikely that he’ll be removed from office.  Worst case, he was doing something presidents do and should do.  He is the chief law enforcement officer of the nation.  After all, didn’t Obama have Trump investigated?  Didn’t Clinton use her position to smear candidate Trump?   Didn’t the FBI director clear her of all wrong.

Moreover, and most important, didn’t Biden admit guilt before the whole world on a video?  Did he not have the prosecutor of Ukraine fired in six hours?  Does such a thing deserve no investigation?

Bottom line, whether Bolton testifies or not, there will likely be little or no difference.  I once read some very wise words that I believe apply.  If it doesn’t matter, then it doesn’t matter.

As a side note, if they go into calling witnesses, there are two things that will be true.

  1. nothing will be passed by the Senate until the trial is over, possibly Till may or June.  (I doubt it will go longer.  After all, 1/3 of of the senators do face reelection.)
  2. those senators are going to get awfully tired of just sitting there twiddling there thumbs (or whatever they use to fight off the boredom) while they listen to the dummycrats spin their lies.

Benumbed

It really is a word.  I heard it a while ago and decided I liked it.  So I looked it up.  Once I saw the meaning, I realized it was used very accurately.  Those House managers have absolutely benumbed me with all their repetition.  They seem to think that if they repeat something enough times, it will make it so.  All they have really done is to benumb us all.  Well, at least they did accomplish one thing, though I’m not sure it can be call an accomplishment.

An Unusual Situation

At least sense Andrew Jackson, the Dummycrats have had a candidate running for president.  Bernie Sanders is independent, not a dummycrat.  Hence the dummycrat party will not have a dummycrat in the race.

Just a thought.  I really don’t think Bernie will be the nominee.  I will say this for the man though.  He is honest as apposed to Pocahontas.  She is on record with at least four whoppers.  When the two of them had a disagreement during the most recent debate, I strongly suspect that Pocahontas was the one telling the whopper.  I believe the poor woman can’t help but lie.  I don’t know why.  Most of the lies gained her very little.  In the end, they cost her far more.  I certainly would not want to stake my life, or my country, on her being truthful.  It kind of scares me that she just might become president.

Free Kindle Books

The three volumes of the Kip Series will be free Friday, Jan 24.  The second in the series did get a recent rating of four stars so you might like to read all three of them.  Each volume is rather short so it won’t take long to read all three.

To order, you can log onto Amazon and search for the books Kip – The Optimist, Kip -The Realist or Kip – The Pessimist.  It might be easier to search for “Ben Rhodes”, though you just might find a bunch of books by other authors in which you’d have no interest.  Finally, you can just enter this in the search box:

http://www.amazon.com/author/story_teller

It will take you right to my Author’s page.  The advantage of this method is that you just might find another book or two that you might like to read.

In the series Kip is a detective working for San Diego.  Because of what all he has seen he has a difficult time believing in God.  His disbelief is somewhat increased as the result of some of the events in volume one.  It turns him from an optimist to a realist.  Then, of course, things really get bad in the second volume.  He has decided that if there is a God, that he hates Him for permitting such things.  In the third volume… well I’ll let you find out on your own.

If you enjoy the books, be sure and tell your friends and neighbors.  If not, never mind.  Either way, please tell me at Kaay@att.net.  Please keep your comments brief and reasonable.  If you spot any glaring errors, please let me know.

Thank you for reading the books and thank you for your comments.

College Bribes

I have a solution that everyone would like about the college bribes… make it legal.  If someone with means wants into college and they don’t have the scores or grades, simply make them pay three times the tuition.  One third would go to pay the tuition.  One third would go toward paying a poor guy’s tuition.  One third would go toward retiring the debts encountered by delinquent  student loans.  Seems to me that would work for everyone.

Naw.  Too simple.  We need something far more complicated… something that costs a fortune in legal fees and makes lawyers a ton of money.  After all, we need to use all those big court buildings for something.

I’m of Two Minds

Which is best?

1. Dismiss the case against President Trump immediately.  After all, they have not truly charged him with so much as one crime.  After the case is dismissed, the Senate could call witnesses exposing the so-called whistle blower and Joe Biden.

2. Allow a full scale trial to go on with witnesses.  The dummycrats have far more to lose with witnesses.  After all, their presidential front runner just might be exposed of committing the very thing they are accusing the president of, abuse of power and quid-pro-quo.  Indeed Joe Biden could end up in jail.  Now that could be embarrassing.

Either way, I suspect President Trump would be the biggest beneficiary.  He just might end up running all fifty states.  Then again, probably not.  Sadly, California and New York are too far gone.  They would rather vote for a mass murderer than for President Trump.  It just must be something in the water they drink.

I guess my preference is for choice 1, though it is really a tough choice.

Oh.  By the way.  Regardless of the means and methods, they really should serve pizza to the senators during the trial.  I will help keep them awake.

The Cloud

Does anyone know how to disable the cloud on my computer.  I have no need of it.  My little hard drive has plenty of room on it.  If I need to transfer a file from one system to the other, I do have a number of ways.  Worse yet, I have found that the cloud slow my system down… a lot.

Come to think of it, is somewhat frustrating also that Microsoft is so determined to control my system.  Come to think of it, it is irritating too.

King James Version

I had a short small chuckle when I saw a bumper sticker that said something to the affect… if it’s not King James, then it’s not the Bible.

To be sure, it is a serious subject.  Nonetheless, the foolishness of such a statement is easy to see.  Even so, in a way, I can kind identify with it.

Now that might sound like a bunch of mambo-jumbo, to be sure a conflict in ideas.  First, for those few who don’t realize the error, let me explain.

  1. The Bible was originally written in Hebrew and Greek. Certainly the Israelites studied what we call the Old Testament for centuries and it was completely valid.  Then, for a few centuries, the Christian Church studied the scriptures in both Greek and Hebrew.  That was, and is today valid.  In fact, for those able to read and understand the original language, it is likely an advantage.  I certainly wished I could read the original.
  2. The King James was written in a dialogue that most of us would have a difficult time understanding. Since it made its way on the scene, many of the words have changed meaning.  Many of the words are simply archaic.  It would be far better to read a translation that is more current, provided it is accurate.
  3. The original King James is not completely accurate. For instance, it translates the  commandant, as “Thou shalt not kill.”  It is almost unanimous among the experts that it should have been “Thou shalt not murder.”  Granted it is a small difference, but it has misled uncounted millions to use the commandant as a reason for not going to war.  Indeed, the scriptures speak of killing many times, but never does it justify murder.

Now that I have so badly ridiculed the translation, let me explain how the person with the bumper sticker had his heart in the right place.  Nowadays, there are many translations, some not so good.  Some suggest or outright say that God is female.  I do not want to consider stepping into eternity with that concept.

Too be sure, it is the modern concept of religion to accept beliefs a-la-carte.  They accept this belief while rejecting others.  Take for instance, Pelosi, as well as most democrats.  She said, as a Catholic, she learned not to hate.  Then, she allows, even encourages abortion.  Moreover, what she said was a lie and most of us know it.  She hates the president so much that she has permitted her time as Speaker to be an abject failure.  Mostly, her only accomplishment has been to impeach POTUS.

The scriptures were never intended as something to select from as on a holy buffet line.  It is akin to creating one’s own religion.  Of course, when a person makes up their own religion, it does have advantages.  However, all those advantages have an end.

In such situations, I am reminded of the passage, an illustration of a man who cuts down a tree.  Half of it he uses in a fire to keep warm.  The other half, he carves into an idol.  Then the man bows down to the idol and prays to it.  Have you ever heard of anything so ludicrous.

Of course, modern man does not make idols like that.  Well that’s not true.  A short trip through Asia will verify that there are still people in this world that expect help from things that cannot help them.  They are just a ridiculous as the idol the man carved from the tree.  Yet, I risk the anger of those who read this.  To them, I am committing a horrible sacrilege.  To them, I am being inconsiderate.

I ask.  Which is more horrible, to present the truth or allow people to continue to believe the lies?  Of course, if there is no God, it makes no difference.  There is no reason for me to rain on their parade.  It all rides on the one question.  Is there a God and who is he.  The question is important enough that we all should consider it.

When Pelosi’s heart beats its last, when she takes last breath and she comes face-to-face with her maker, she just might have some explaining to do.  To be sure, I will have to cough up a few explanations too.  However, she is going to have to explain the death, the outright murder of millions of babies under her watch.  Somehow, I think that will more than singe the locks on her head.

By the way, I prefer the New King James translation.  However, I am sure there are two or three other translations that are good.  Most of all, let’s not practice our religion a-la-carte.  That is even worse than not believing in God at all.  It gives Christianity a bad rap.
