Helping the Devil

I had the idea on this post, I guess about three days ago.  However, I am just now getting around to writing it.  Why?  I just don’t know how.  I wish I did.  I have prayed about it.  I prayed for help or even if I should write it.  I suspect that it will do little good.  Many will argue the existence of the devil in the first place.  Some will argue that they aren’t helping the devil when they are, while deep down in their heart they know better.

Let’s look at how the devil works.  It’s not new.  The Bible speaks of how he works, lies, deception, pride, the offering of short term gains.  By the way, those who help the devil use the same methods.  However, they also add bribes, terror, and, well, let’s just call it group think.  You fall outside the in crowd and your name is mud.  Your business goes bust.  Your cake decorating shop gets sued because you refuse to accept what the government calls marriage.  (God had the first say and He will have the last say on that subject.)

So.  Let’s give it just a little thought.  That time you told a lie about that politician.  You helped the devil.  That time you bribed that government official, you helped Satan in his deception.  That time you helped that dishonest person running for office, you helped evil to prosper.  When you go down and buy that lottery ticket, you helped Satan.

I guarantee every time a person goes into a gambling casino, the devil smiles.  Win or lose, the devil wins and society loses.

Of course, voting does not always occur at the polls.  When you encourage the defunding of the police, Satan is jumping for joy.  Every time a person goes through a store and takes all he can carry, guess what?  Satan wins, that is for the short term, and you are helping him.

It’s more than just repeating the lies of the devil.  It is also accepting them.  You say, “Of course Biden won the election.  Everyone knows it.”  Only you know it’s a deception from the dems and originated by the evil one himself, Satan.

I ask you.  Do you really believe that Old Joe is a better man for president than President Trump?  I mean, do you really down deep in your heart believe that lie, or do you just want to believe it?  On the other hand, there are those who don’t care.  All they want is the power, which is also, what Satan wants.

Ergo, you chose to believe the lie and as such, you are aiding and abetting the devil.  It’s not a matter of if you want to.  It is not a matter if you believe it.  It’s the simple fact that you are.

In the process, you helped to put hundreds, maybe thousands of innocent people in prison for January 6.  And you are helping those trying to put the one president that has done the most for this nation in over fifty years in prison.  Even more, he has done great things for God’s church, allowing them freedom of religion.  I don’t think Satan liked it when he fought for Christians to be exempt from paying for abortions.  I don’t think Satan liked those justices he put on the Supreme Court either.  Actually, the dems didn’t like any of that much either.

Actually, if you go down through the things that Satan is trying to do and what the dems are trying to do, there are many similarities.  Regardless of the motives, I am certain that Satan is very grateful for the help.

The lies, the bribes, and the threats, they all go toward his goals.  One day, Satan will answer.  I know.  I have read the last of the book.  Guess what.  He will not be alone.  His demons will be right there with him in that fire.  Also, those that have helped him will spend eternity paying for their lies and deceit.  Hell was not made for man but for the devil.  God does not want to send one man or woman there.  They will go of their own choice by rejecting the salvation provided by Jesus Christ.

It seems, Everybody’s Jumping

I’m sure that most of you, as with me, heard the expression, “If everyone jumps off a cliff, would you do it too.” It is a simple admonition to keep us from following the mistakes of others. Perhaps it was used a little too much as it did somewhat lose its effectiveness on many. Nonetheless, there is something to it. Just because others do things, that doesn’t make it the smart thing to do. Sometimes, the rush by others can be downright dumb.

Not to make a jump to another subject, but I frequently go up and down I-55 between Southaven and Hernando. As I do, I see this big sign on the side of a building. It made me wonder, just who are they? Just what do they do? Finally, I looked them up on the web. Mostly, it wasn’t that surprising. However, I’m going to leave their name out and what they do in this post. I see no point in disparaging them here.

The thing is that just as I was about to leave their web site, I saw their ESG (Environmental, Social and Governmental) statement. It is one of those things that is not required by law, but it would seem everyone is doing it. Everyone seems to be jumping off that cliff, despite all the admonition of their parents.

The Budweiser corporation jumped off that cliff and it almost drove them into bankruptcy. The Disney Corporation decided to make the jump and their stockholders are still smarting. I noticed some outfits are trying to straddle the fence, that is, they are making it look as if they are jumping without actually jumping. When I went into Firestone the other day to have my HHR worked on, they had a small, almost unnoticeable little statement on one of their advertising boards. It made me wonder what they would say if I asked them about it.

Why the sudden change? What happened that companies risk losing significant income just so they can suffer the income loss as with everyone else? Moreover, even worse, purposely, intentionally they are giving up market share. People are still drinking beer, just someone else’s. People are still buying clothes, just not from Target.

People have buying habits. When they change people they do business with, it tends to be permanent. If those people who used to drink Bud, decide some other brand is better, they just might not return. In other words, this stupidity might have long-term damage.

Well, it used to be, that is to say in times past, it was the duty and the purpose of corporate boards to make money for the owners of the company, that is to say, the shareholders. It seems Old Joe did not like that concept. He could not change the law but he did make the suggestion that it would be a good idea that all companies have a different policy. He wants the corporate boards to make decisions made on the effect to environment, to social biases and governmental issues. The last, just so you know, means, how it effects the dems.

As I say, it is not required. It is not law. However he is pushing it just as far as he can with the power he has. And, as you can see, it is having its affect. For some reason, corporations seem to think it will help them to join the crowd and make the leap, knowing that it will be disastrous to their bottom line, and, of course their stockholders.

It does make me wonder, what the stockholders of Target are thinking right now, as they saw their stocks plummet. I think we know what the Budweiser stock holders are thinking… damage control. I have seen a few of the commercials since their leap into ESG and it looked an awful lot like they were trying to do some serious backing up, all the while, trying to make if look as if they aren’t retreating. They’ve trotted out their Clydesdales and given to the veterans. I wonder just what is next. Well. I know what would be best. A simple statement of admission to the mistake and an apology. However, if you’re waiting for that to happen, you can forget it. That alphabet soup group will not let that happen.

I Was Just Curious

From the time I was seven, I was brought up near Disneyland. Actually, that’s not 100% true. The theme park was just an orange grove at the time.

Yup. For some time, when we passed the spot, the remark was made, “That’s where they’re building Disneyland.” Perhaps the one thing that was most visible was the Peter Pan pirate ship.

The transformation that followed was simply unimaginable. The area around Disneyland went from orange trees to hotels, motels, restaurants and parking lots.

The whole Disney empire exploded as well. The studio turned out one huge success after success. The theme park grew in size and attendance.

First time I attended, it was about 3 or 4 dollars a person. If you didn’t go on the rides, that was it. Most, however, bought books which included admission, a few each of A through E tickets. The A tickets, well, most used about half of them. The prize tickets were the E tickets. Invariably, most bought extra E tickets.

For a while it actually caused a frequently used expression, “Well, that was an E ticket,” implying it was a really good experience.

Well. Things have changed and they have changed. Just getting into the park is horribly expensive. I don’t know how people afford it.

Just out of curiosity, I looked it up on line. First, I had a difficult time determining what it costs for 1 day. All the quotes I saw were for three days or for multi-park costs. It seemed to me a classic up salesmanship.

It is as if, if I want just a day in the park, then they have no interest in me. Well, I did find the cost, sortof. It changes, depending on the time of the year.

Well, they may not have much interest in me. The feeling is mutual. Ever since Walt Disney died, the whole empire has been taking a dive, big time. Their movies are failing. Their park attendance is slipping and even ABC is having problems.

It’s sort-of what happens when companies go woke. It’s sort of what happens when they produce children’s movies with adult subjects and inappropriate material in them.

Moreover, they seem to lack originality. They keep redoing old movies with a woke touch. It just really doesn’t work. Most parents won’t put up with it.

It’s showing up on Disney’s bottom line and they just don’t get it. It would seem they believe that if they keep trying, that round peg is going to go though that square hole.

Why Object?

A federal judge made a decision against Old Joe and his cohorts. No more can they meet and agree as to what speech to allow or block.

Now, why should they object…that is unless they are using the social media for limiting our free speech.

Now, let’s see. Isn’t it against the first amendment to limit our speech even if it is indirect?

I think it is. I think a federal judge just agreed with me.

Now. Just how is it that we are to be compensated for all the past damage caused by Old Joe and his socialist comrads.

More importantly, how do we keep keep the socialists from finding another way around the first and most important amendment.

Something I Noticed About Air Conditioning

Over the years, I discovered my auto air conditioning was always, without exception more effective in the shade. I have a vague idea as to why but it really doesn’t matter.

What I’m interested in is taking advantage of it. Perhaps we could build highways with shade. I figure I’d be more comfortable quicker and I might save a few gallons of fuel. The going green outfit would appreciate that.

However, my main interests is my home. Do you suppose the city would permit me to put a shade cover over my home. If we all did it, it would really reduce the load on the grid. And, by the way, Old Joe would love it, that is unless his neighbors did it. He wouldn’t want to live in such a neighborhood.

As my aside, I wonder how practical such a cover would be for schools. It would not only save fuel but taxes as well.

Seeking an Answer

If I may digress. This post reminds me of a song, “A Lover’s Question,” sung by Clyde McPhatter. I certainly am not a country/western music fan, but this one is pretty good. It’s got a good tune, some thoughtful words, and yes, even the backup group is good. It’s the kind of song that just might haunt you all day. You might even find yourself singing it without realizing it. More than that, you might find yourself identifying with it. If you can, you might look it up and play it, it is well worth your while, even if you don’t like country music.

I came to the above title from name of the song in a somewhat roundabout way. Originally, I started with “A Customer’s Question.” Didn’t feel that was apropos. I mean, we are speaking business, not love relationships. I was still somewhat tempted. It is kind of a catchy title. Nonetheless, I decided to use something not quite as good, but more accurate.

Now, getting down to the question and the reason for it. I would really like to know why big corporations like to (figuratively) shoot themselves in the foot. They make decisions they know are going to affect their bottom line and they do it without much true consideration. Consider Budweiser. Those that have read my post very long know that I don’t approve of alcohol at all. But this, this is really dumb. They have lost, what 7 billion dollars just to make a commercial that is friendly to homosexuals and unfriendly to their customers. And now, they can’t even issue an apology. The best they can do is march their Clydesdales out and hope for the best. I am sure that their stockholders have had a few things to say about that. They have likely said that they are desperately seeking an answer to why they did such a dumb thing. (Why did they do that?)

At one time, I had Xfinity cable and internet. I likely still would. However, one day, they started calling my home and suggesting we need a box for converting digital TV to analog. Don’t know if it was intentional, but they left both the wife and me with the impression that there would be no charge for it. We said no. We have but two TVs and they were both hooked up to cable. After the sixth call, one that I took, I agreed to let them send it. However, just to make sure there were no misunderstandings, I said that the first time they bill me for it, I’d pack it all up and take to the local store. They did, and I did.

They shot themselves in the foot. Why did they do that? It wasn’t so much the amount. I suspect that I could have returned the little box and had the cost removed. It’s the idea. They were dishonest. I told them what I’d do, and I did. My guess is that they didn’t care. At that time, they likely had enough customers, losing one or two wouldn’t hurt. I don’t know. Maybe they did have too many customers and they decided to prune a few.

I went to AT&T for cable and internet. Oddly they don’t love their customers either. I lost service so I called them up. Because I could not give them a 4-digit pin number, they refused to fix it. Fine. No problem I told them. I asked for an address to send the equipment and disconnected that day. Why did they do that? I guess they simply did not want to keep the over 2 hundred a month I was sending them. It must have been well decided on their end because I talked to two managers on the phone. Naturally, no face-to-face conversations here. No such thing these days.

It happens in local businesses too. I no longer go to McDonald’s, Wendy’s or Walmart. They have proved to me that they all have too many customers. So, Walmart has lost around two to three hundred a week. Sometimes more. They’ll never miss it. If they were to read this post, they’d not care. It would seem that they don’t like their customers. They just put up with them so as to make their billions off of us. I now go to Kroger. Maybe I spend a little more, but the service is far better and friendlier. Why did Walmart do that?

I could likely write thousands of words on this subject. I would suspect that there are many more who could. Those guys up in those board rooms just don’t seem to get it. They really do need customers. When they lose them they will lose their income. They just don’t seem to get it.

Being woke might impress one group of people. Going broke. Well. That could be a problem.

Knowing What They’re Saying

Learned a new word a couple of days ago, ubiquitous. Now there’s a word for you. I heard the word used on TV by a news anchor and figured I had no idea what she was talking about.

So. I looked up the word. Didn’t understand the definition so I looked it up again. Then I looked for synonyms. Oddly, the word has dozens of them. Made me wonder why the woman used ubiquitous when other words would have explained her point more clearly. Then I figured it out.

If I may use another fancy two-bit word. Maybe four bits. Her purpose was to obfuscate her meaning. I guess there are a few folks in this country that know what ubiquitous means, but not many as like me. You see, I don’t have one of those sheepskins, so I don’t know all those big words like that.

Well, to be honest, it’s not really that big. It just is that a person might read a dozen or so books without seeing it. It just is not that common. Up until a few days ago, I can’t remember hearing it. It is one of those words where you go out of your way to use it. It is also a good word for obfuscating things.

I mean, if a kid ask his dad to stay out till midnight, he might say, “Gee Dad. It is ubiquitous these days.” Then of course, rather than to admit to not knowing the meaning of the word, dad decides he must let his kid stay out till midnight, or maybe even one.

On the other hand, mom can say, “Does that mean that if jumping off a cliff is ubiquitous, does that mean that you should do it?”

Okay. I admit. The examples might not be so accurate. I just might be stretching it a little. However, I’m sure you get the point. I mean, we all knew the woman was smart and what she was saying was accurate. Otherwise, how would she know all those fancy words. It is a trick of double-talkers. Use fancy words and everyone thinks you know what you are talking about.

In her case, she was trying to make the point that pride month, or whatever it was she called it met ubiquitous approval, a lie. I think if a secret ballot were held on it, it would have fallen far short. It just was someone in the government thought it was a good idea and no one dare object. I mean, people have lost their jobs over such objections. People have been ousted from country clubs. Whoa if any public teacher object. You and I both know what that would result in.

And so, the only thing really somewhat ubiquitous about the idea was that no one dare object. If someone does object, before or after, don’t dare come to their rescue, else you will suffer the same consequences of the politically correct crowd.

I guess, there is another point to this post. If someone uses a word you don’t know, look it up. Make sure you know what they are talking about. Agree or not, you should know what is being said.

Which is Worst?

Which one is worst? Is it the one who offers the bribe in hopes of getting his way, regardless of what is right?

Is it the one who receives the bribe, knowing that he is going to treat a person or person wrong as a result?

Maybe the worst of all is the one who stands by and observes the bribe and says nothing. Maybe he says nothing out of fear. Perhaps he keeps quiet and benefits from the bribe. I don’t know. There might be dozens of reasons for blinding himself to that which he knows to be wrong.

When I was a young man, still in high school, I was taught about the third world countries where bribery was a way of life. The officer, expected and received the little payment to turn his head. The government official knew he would receive the bribe to allow the immigrant into the country. The teacher explained that, of course those things did not go in this country.

Now, 50 or 60 years later…

As I surveyed the recent history, I came to the conclusion that it is what happens in countries that turn their backs on God. You might ask if I consider it a judgement. To be sure, it would be a righteous judgement. But it is entirely unnecessary. It is simply a natural result. When people turn their backs on God, they do things that result in calamity.

They might call it lobbying, or donations for campaigning. It all has the same result. In but a short while, unless we allow God back in our lives, back in our schools and back in our government, the US will be a used to be. We will join the ranks of third world countries. People will be going south over the Mexican border, not north. No one will want to live in a land that is ruled by the few, the rich, the powerful.

And, invariably, the few, the rich and the powerful will not let go of their hold on this nation.

So. What is your thought? Are you one who bribes? Are you one who accepts the bribes. Or are you one who simply looks away when you see a bribe. Hopefully, you are none of those. Yet, millions of people stood by and watched Biden offer a billion-dollar bribe and still voted for him. Millions stood by and watched what the dems did to our voting system. And still they voted for them.

It looks like they approved of the bribes to me. So don’t be surprised when they count the US as a third world country. Don’t be surprised when money by the wheelbarrow will not buy a loaf of bread.

Don’t be surprised when God turns his back on us as this nation has turned its back on Him.

In the past, the US was an example of a Godly nation. Nowadays. Not so much.

Intentional Meritocracy

I have told the story before.  It bears repeating every other year or two, even if no one wants to hear it.  Mostly, the pro union people don’t like hearing it.  However, it is an objective example of how unions encourage meritocracy.

My father was a carpenter.  At fifty, he was on a major union job in California.  A short time after he started, the union rep approached him and said, “You’re going to have to slow down.  You’re making every else look bad.”

Well, of course, he made sure to drop his speed some.  He wasn’t really in much of a hurry to begin with.  It just was, at his age, he had experience and knowledge going for him.  He was also in good shape.  He could walk on his hands for a city block and he could run faster than most high school kids.  Mostly, he was very experienced at driving nails.  It was always one swing to set the nail and one swing to drive it home.  Then it was on to the next.  I have seen him do it.

With the new instruction, I guess it meant he had to take a breath or two between nails.  I don’t know.  He never told me that part of the story.

The problem is that every person who is a member of union really has two bosses, the supervisor and the union.  In some cases, I’m not sure.  Maybe they just answer to the union.  It causes problems.  It encourages meritocracy.  When people work too well, when they do too good a job, someone is likely to take them aside and have a short but to the point talk with them.  “Be careful.  You are making the rest look bad.”

I have said all that to say this.  There is plenty of blame to go around for poor results from the schools.  Everyone deserves some of the blame, teachers, schools, administrations and certainly colleges.  Even parents must accept some of the blame.  Certainly, we need to step back and have another look at methods and techniques.  However, I firmly believe that the bulk of the blame goes to the National Education Association, NEA.  Though it is called an association, it is a union and likely one of the most powerful unions in the country.

As a union, it is even worse with the NEA.  Not only do they encourage meritocracy with the teachers, but they also determine what the teachers teach, also known as the curriculum.  I suspect they’d just as soon us not know that, but it’s true.  There have been a few times they have let it slip.  They have made public statements that back up my point.

You might think that what your child is taught comes down from the district, from the principal and from the state.  I guess some of it does.  However, not without the approval of the NEA.  It is, my guess, the main reason they oppose private schools so much.  They would have to relinquish their control.  And make no mistake; the NEA is all about control.  Education is the one thing farthest from their minds.  They are a political organization and, as all unions, they have a solid allegiance with the Democrat party.

Are you looking around, trying to figure out why your child can’t read.  You don’t have to look far.  It’s the dems and the NEA.

Good teachers that excel are frowned on.  It’s the meritocracy that finds advancement.  Rid the country of the NEA and the schools will experience an overnight improvement of 15 to 20 percent.  It would be a different world in which the teachers would be encouraged to teach at their best.

The meritocracy would be discouraged and, in some cased not tolerated.  I am convinced at least 5%, maybe 10% of the teachers in our systems should not be permitted to teach.  They should find some other kind of work, assuming they can.

Now.  All we need do is find out some way to rid ourselves of the NEA.  At least, we need laws to keep them out of the curriculum and methods. Let them represent the members, not the public. They in no way answer to the public, or as near as I can tell, anyone.

Half a Billion Tons

That’s how much silt the great Mississippi River dumps into the Gulf of Mexico each year. I might add there are a few others that are similar. There are some that dump more, many less.

That is a bunch of bunch of dirt displacing millions of tons of ocean water.

Now, let’s see. Do you suppose that would cause the ocean levels to rise.

Simple solution. Dig some of the dirt back out or pump ocean waters into man-made salt lakes and add lake front property. Make channels for shipping. Add beautiful landscaping for big hotels.

Build a bid wide beautiful mote just north of the Mexican border to stop illegal migration. Well, that wouldn’t work well in the mountainous areas. It’s a thougt, anyway. It sure would be nice to cut down ont the drug traffic too.
