Spoiled Kids. Spoiled Adults

It is an old assumption by some. However, it is one of the most disproved one. I am not even going to try to disprove it. It has reached a point that it is a given. We have the spoiled rich kids of the millionaires repeated over and over. Even those who have less money will still try to buy the love of a child by giving him or her too much.

Then, one day they look around and wonder why their children don’t like them. Indeed, the parent frequently tells the child, haven’t I given you all you wanted?

The fact is, sometimes real love says no to the request, even when the child begs, pleads and threatens. I have seen that, with the outcome both ways.

Recently, however, I have come to the conclusion that kids are not the only ones who become spoiled. A full grown adult that should know better will beg plead and threaten. They will beg their government to take care of them. They will plead for the money, the healthcare, the homes, the phones and even housing. Then, when and if the government turns them down, they threaten to cast their vote for someone else.

It is of course, one of the greatest weaknesses of a government that must answer to the voters. It all started out well but over time, our nation has become continuously more socialist. You might find this strange, but at one time, the federal government did not provide aid for for disasters. It was handled totally by the state. I have no idea when that changed.

Eisenhower, when he wanted to build the great interstate system we have, had to figure a way to justify it. Up to that point, the federal government was not much into the highway building business. So, he justified it by saying it was for national defense. To do this, the interstates had to meet certain national defense standards that would allow them to be used for airfields should another war brake out. Also, something that made more sense, transportation for war supplies.

It was a horrible thing that happened to those trade towers, but some people really made out on it financially. Some people were given millions of dollars for their losses. I saw what was happening and I shook my head. If I got a million dollars, I’d be happy to let someone come and burn my house down. Well, to be sure, I would want to be well clear of it first.

However, some of those people in NY, NY became instant millionaires as a result of 9/11. Then, just a short time later, they had their hands out again because of hurricane. Me and people like me were working hard for our paychecks while those folks up there simply held their hands out and said gimme, gimme, gimme. And of course, if one dollar was withheld, the clamoring would start, “See if I vote for you next time!”

Nowadays, people build next to oceans, sometimes on cliffs. They spend millions on the property and millions on the house. Then, when a storm comes along, we hear, “Well, I couldn’t afford insurance you know. It was so expensive.” Do you suppose that the insurance is expensive for a reason. Maybe the lesson these folks need to learn is to build a little farther from the ocean or lake instead of counting on Uncle Sam to bail them out.

People are required to have insurance to drive cars. Maybe they should be required to have insurance to build houses on cliffs overlooking the ocean. The alternative is simple. You built there. You took the risk. You live with the results, no matter. We will come to the rescue for personal safety, but not to help you rebuild. I suspect there would be one big advantage to it. Many of the miles of coast that are now private would be turned back over to the public.

That which happened recently in Hawaii is a different matter entirely. They do need some help rebuilding, though we need to avoid overdoing it. The people there were hit by something that was completely unpredictable. One might even say that the government aggravated it. Certainly, if the government did have a part in the disaster, they should have a real part in the recovery.

However, people who live next to big bodies of water where flood damage can be reasonably expected, we should not pass out any more than what is needed to survive. There is no reason why the paycheck of some truck driver should have to be used to rebuild some millionaire’s beach home.

The particular bad part is that the federal government is very bad at dealing with disasters. Invariably, they pay 3 dollars to provide 1 dollar of relief. The rest. Some of it goes to the operation of the federal agencies. Mostly, a lot of it gets wasted. The trailers are brought in where tents would work. Tents aren’t that bad short term. I have lived in tents. It’s better than sleeping in the rain. Moreover, they can be moved in more quickly and they are reusable. The trailers will likely be scrapped. At the very least, reusable buildings should be used that can be quickly assembled and disassembled. I have no idea why this we don’t already do this. Just ask the builders of the steel buildings what it would take. Bet they would have good solutions. Oh! Wait a minute! I just figured it out why they keep doing it this way. We are the ones paying for it, not them.

And so it is, that we keep spoiling those hit by disasters. And so it is, that they are more and more dissatisfied. It is the one problem where governments answer to the voters.

As an aside, the interstate system was and is one of the best projects of the federal government. However, I still wonder how much money is never getting into the concrete and bridges. Nowadays, the engineers who plan the highways have a problem they didn’t even think about when the highways were started, the people going green. Getting rights of way are far more difficult today than in President Eisenhower’s day.

Some People Are So Gullible They Believe Anyone

You take for instance the idle worshiper. He actually feels that that rock is going to help him. He goes to it for advice consolation and of course in offering of gifts.

On the other hand, there are those who believe the government (AKA democrats) will take care of all their needs. Oddly, some feel that it is all owed to them. All they have to do is keep those dems in office and all will go well. Hence, they will do lie, cheat and defraud to insure that they have Big brother in there to provide for them their handout. For those that have some reasoning left, that only lasts until they have their dictatorship set up. Then it will be the dems who will be doing all the receiving. Those that voted them in will have absolutely no say, no money, no food, and, of course, no medical.

It does all seem to be sort of the same thing. However, the fact is that the rock might be more helpful. It isn’t trying to control what you do, what you say or what you think, which is the desire of the dems.

Lest anyone get the wrong idea that I am encouraging rock worship, I am just saying, rocks are less dangerous. They have no desire to take over and rule the world, like Lenin, like Mao, and yes, like Hitler.

Some People Like Noise

Don’t know why but it is so true. When I had my BMW motorcycle, I liked the smooth quiet ride. In fact there were times it was just a bit too quiet. I’d pull up to a light and I reached down and touch the head just to make sure it was still running.

On the other hand, you have those that like the sound of a Harley Davidson. Some will actually put non-standard parts on them just so we can hear them as they go by. Well, actually we hear them as they approach and long after they leave.

It is the same as with cars. It sometime put the policeman in something of a quandary. He knows that hot rod is far too noisy to be legal but just how does he prove it. Many times, he lets it go for that reason. I guess all police should carry a device around with them that can measure the noise, but that is difficult.

Then you have the man who likes his Cadillac that just purrs silently along. Then again, it has the horses that are, what’s the word, silently standing by in case they are called upon. I guess we could call the power understated, though I’m not sure that’s the right expression either.

Although I can understand the man that enjoys the throaty sound of the big Harley engine, I’m kind of one of those that would just as soon not have to listen to it. I suppose there is a safety factor to it. If I hear the motor coming, I am more likely to know it’s there. I mean, if you can’t see that Harley in your blind spot, the noise can make a real difference.

One day I saw an article that all electric cars ought to be required to make some noise, for the blind pedestrian. The idea was, the blind person, if he hears the motor is less likely to step out in front of the car.

During the test drive of my electric, my timing was off. I was trying to get on the Interstate just as four cars were approaching in the right lane. Well, I hit the brake and decided to wait for the cars to go by. That courteous driver slowed, opening up a spot in front of him. That was nice of him but I was only doing about 30.

I guess that gave me a reason to step on it and see what it would do. Frankly, it was one of the reasons I bought the car. It took off like a shot, almost scared me. However, it made not one noise. I was expecting something. You know, even the Cadillacs make some noise when you step on them. I don’t know about Rolls Royces. Never did see one when the driver stepped on it. Certainly, even it would at least whisper.

With that Nissan, not a sound but the wind going by and the tires on the road. Not much of that. It was kind of like with the old BMW motorcycle. Other than the fact that it pinned my wife to the back seat, you’d not know there were any horses there.

By the way, there was no hesitation. Most cars would take a short time to drop down into passing gear when you gun them. I stomped on he accelerator and it accelerated, instantly.

I would suspect that, even if all else were equal, there are those who would not want an electric car. I mean, some folks just have to have the noise. In the future, somewhere along the line, maybe loud noise could be added to electric cars as an option, for those that just have to have the noise.

The Forgotten Option

Everyday I see stories about the disaster called Ukraine. I hate to see it. I hate to see how it lingers on. Everyday I see them discuss the options. One man says we need to do this. Another says we need to do that. Then there is the really “smart” reporter that says we need to just do it this way. Then, from time to time, there is the remark, “It’s on the other side of the world for crying out loud. Let’s just leave it alone. I’m tired of playing the police for the world.”

I really don’t understand it. No one, including the Republicans ever suggest the one method that has been tied and true. It worked with Reagan and virtually ended the cold war. It worked with Trump, until the know nothing Old Joe got in there and messed up everything. You want to stop the Russians from making war, drive the price of oil down just as far as you can. It eliminates the money that the Russians have for making war. If maintained, it will bankrupt the country to the point they won’t be able to raise substantial battle against Poland.

I am beginning to think that everyone wants to overlook the oil aspect.

  1. Drive the price of oil down as much as possible, at least 30 dollars a barrel.
  2. Supply oil and natural gas to our allies in abundance so that Russia will not be able to sell to anyone but China. Who knows? At 15 dollars a barrel, maybe even China will abandon the Russian supply.
  3. Stop buying anything from Russia and China. The stuff we make is better anyway and it doesn’t need to be shipped in.
  4. Stop the Opioids from China, especially the Fentanyl. We don’t need it. Nothing good comes from it and it only helps the criminal elements south of the border. We certainly don’t need that nor do the people of Mexico.

It is just that simple. I know why Old Joe doesn’t want it brought up. What about the rest. What about the Republicans. I haven’t even heard a peep from the conservatives including Sean Hannity.

What Happens When the Drive Through Becomes Illegal?

It will happen, you know. Do you have any idea How much fuel you use while waiting for that Big Mac or wait for that convenient bank transaction. Not only that, it does produce a lot of CO2, not to mention CO, which is far worse. The planet’s plants can use the carbon dioxide for food. Carbon monoxide is not good for plant or animal.

So, maybe I can challenge a few folks to write a post on what happens when those ultra green folks take away the drive through.

Normally, when I post something, I will suggest a plan, a solution, maybe a probable outcome. This time I simply have no idea. It will be the meeting of the lazy with those who don’t like CO2 belching machines, of any kind.

As near as I can see it, your post needs to address three aspects. What it will mean for those who will actually have to leave their luxury vehicles and traipse off into the cold of winter or the heat of summer to get that wonderful whopper, which they will be able to have their way.

The other thing to consider, is how will the restaurant deal with it. Many of them rely heavily on the drive through. Having to permanently close the window will not go well for them. It might actually eat into their profits unless they come up with something.

Finally, some places keep their drive throughs open all night. Take away the drive through and that will have to change. Just how, I’ll let you decide.

The fact is, I know only one thing about it all. One day it will happen. We really ought to start thinking about it. I’m open to your thoughts and considerations. Maybe a few of you like drive throughs and will have to face withdrawal pains; as well as trudging through the snow. Some of you run restaurants and banks. I’d really like to hear your ideas. I have none. Some of you might be brilliant and you just might come up with something to resolve the inevitable problem.

On the other hand, maybe some of you just have some comments on it all. Just, let’s try to keep them clean and reasonable. I mean, I have some things I’d like to say too, but I try very hard to avoid that kind of language.

Incidentally, have any of you been stuck in line behind someone at one in the morning insisting on ordering for 6 or 7 people, all paying separately?

Sam’s Club EV Charge Station

The one on Goodman road in Southaven reported on the internet, it’s not there. I searched the area. I asked the employees. They knew not of what I was speaking. I tried to contact them on the Web and let them know of the error. Not going to happen. Those CEOs don’t like hearing from us little guys.

So. You might just pass it on. Also, should you know the CEO, you might mention some to him too.

From what I gather, they do intend to have a station at all Sam’s clubs and Walmart stores. None around here…not yet. That going green outfit, maybe needs to talk to the board of Walmart, I guess. I mean, if they are going to do it, they need to do it before someone else beats them to it.

Eyes Wide Open

I can’t say I didn’t know; cause I did. Electric cars need charging stations. I could totally solve my personal problem easily. I have four 220 volt outlets in my house. Not one of them is in use. I am sure I could keep my car charged just with that alone, but for one thing. None of the outlets are close enough to the car.

I actually thought about an extension cord. However, given the amount of current involved, I’m pretty hesitant. No since starting a fire trying to charge my car. I suspect I’ll get an electrician to do the job. Given the small amount of driving I do, a couple of few hours a night would be more than ample to keep the car charged.

Actually, I got a little off the subject I intended to address. Truthfully, there are plenty of charging stations around here. Just about all of them are different. I must admit my ignorance. I don’t know which ones I can use and which ones I can’t. Needless to say, I really don’t want to ruin the batteries of a new car because I don’t know which ones I can or can’t use.

However, that is the half of it. Naturally, those that own the charging stations would like to make a little money off the things. I understand that. However, I checked out several charging stations over the last few days. Nothing, or nearly nothing is posted. They have nothing that says which cars they are compatible with. Worse, there is nothing there that explains who can use it or how. All they have at two of them is a phone number. Both of them are the same. I tried to call them. Effectively, no answer.

There is something of a fault with the car manufacturer and a part of the fault lies with those running the charging stations. They should both be plainly marked which charges can be used with which cars.

I don’t much care about the government getting their nose into things, but this just might be a good place. They can shoot to get three or four standard chargers and they can make sure both car and chargers are well marked.

It gives me another reason for me to be glad I bought the Ariya. Up until now, I had no idea it was this much of a problem. Seems to me, if Old Joe really wants electric cars, he’ll address this little problem before it becomes a big one. Moreover, the little problem just might get in the way of folks buying the “GREEN” cars.

Finally, let’s make sure we know how to operate the chargers and how to pay for the electricity.

I like my car. I like driving it. It is quickly spoiling me. But it simply will do me no good sitting in my drive collecting dirt.

Something I Noticed About Air Conditioning

Over the years, I discovered my auto air conditioning was always, without exception more effective in the shade. I have a vague idea as to why but it really doesn’t matter.

What I’m interested in is taking advantage of it. Perhaps we could build highways with shade. I figure I’d be more comfortable quicker and I might save a few gallons of fuel. The going green outfit would appreciate that.

However, my main interests is my home. Do you suppose the city would permit me to put a shade cover over my home. If we all did it, it would really reduce the load on the grid. And, by the way, Old Joe would love it, that is unless his neighbors did it. He wouldn’t want to live in such a neighborhood.

As my aside, I wonder how practical such a cover would be for schools. It would not only save fuel but taxes as well.

What a Waste!

If they had just harvested every 3rd tree in those Canadian forests, they could have turned a third of those trees into beautiful furniture, wonderful homes, maybe even a few baseball bats. Instead, they are nothing but ashes. They are good for nothing.

Instead of being turned into something useful, they have generated untold tons of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide (poison for us people. poison for the wild animals.

It’s what happens when a bunch of no nothing do-gooders try to run a country. It’s the obvious result when folks who know nothing about forests try to manage forests.

It’s so sad but clear, we have wasted a lot of board feet of wood and killed tons of trees, all for the sake of trying to save them. Who knows how many animals’ lives were lost, how many square miles of animal habitat have been lost in the name of what… well I really don’t know. I don’t think the do-gooders do either.

Then again, it only matters if it’s the bad Republicans that cause the damage. Do you really think the environmentalists care about any of it? I mean why should they. They answer to no one. Not so much as one Jounalists has brought it up in any way shape or form that I have seen. No reports have been made. No questions asked. They shrug their shoulders, walk away and say, “What a shame. It must be those horrid Republicans and their global warming again.”

I wonder how much global warming was caused by the burning of those poor defenseless trees and the green gasses they produced. I would suspect it was far more than the automobiles. Certainly, far more than lawn mowers or gas stoves.

Differing Points of View

Down through the history of the Republican and the Democrat parties, there have always been differing points of view. However, they both had the good of the country in mind. I don’t like the way President Kennedy did things. I really don’t like the way he managed his personal life, but he fought the communists’ countries fiercely and he always had the good of the nation in mind.

Today things are different. Not only do the parties have differing points of view, but the dems do not have well being of the country in mind. They hate the Constitution and are using its precepts to destroy it. Indeed, it is their desire to destroy the country and meld it into a single world government.

Worse yet, they are willing to ignore any law to accomplish it. They have no problem destroying the home of the brave so that they can install their nation of puppets. And yes, they stand accusing others of lying, while all the time telling their own whoppers. If they are caught in their lies and deceptions, then it’s back to their old ways, deny, deny, deny.

They continually demand compromises from the Republicans. Does anyone remember a dem was willing to give an inch. Invariably, in the end, there is no compromise with them. In the end, they win, and we lose. For if we keep compromising, we relinquish everything including our precious freedom.

Then, there will not be any more differing points of view. They will not be permitted. They won’t be allowed, even in thought. If you say something out of line, it won’t be the government after you. It will be your neighbors. It will be those who live across the street or across town. In the end, it will even be your friends in church, until, of course, there are no more churches.
