Automated Restaurants

Those that report the first automatic restaurants must not have had their eyes open. I have seen automation at some level since 1975. You put the the raw burger in one end and it comes out the other fully cooked in less than 3 minutes. I saw them firsthand. This is more than twice the speed as a regular grill because the burger is cooked on both sides at once.

There is a place in Southaven that has done much to automate cooking of pizzas. I also saw on TV a machine that totally automatically pancakes. This was, I guess decades ago.

Here’s the thing. None of the machines I discibed has any real computerization. It would take very little to fully automate them. It is not that new. Building the more automated equipment is simply a matter of an increase in the demand.

As an aside, I remember seeing a McDonald’s with fry machines totally automatic. I remember watching in fastenation. The potatoes went through a peeling station then sliced. There they fell into fryer baskets.

Whenever needed, the baskets were transported to the fryers and into the oil. They were dumped under a warm light and salted. The only thing a person did was bag them.

I have no idea if any McDonald’s still does this, perhaps at busier stores. Even though the machine could take place of a couple of people, I am sure the machine would need cleaning from time to time.

Thing is, right now the automation is possible. The question is, how much business does it take to justify buying machines that must be cleaned and repaired.

Another point that I have noticed, far more important, how much time do the employees stand around talking as apposed to being productive. I guess this is a question to be resolved by management and customers. So far I have seen a significant tolerance by McDonald’s & Wendy’s management. Automated or not, making customers wait 15 to 20 minutes in a store with 2 customers is unsatisfactory from the customer’s point of view. It should not be tolerated by management either.

Different

Elvis Presley’s house is within bicycle range. However, to see it I would have to go to a part of Memphis I avoid these days. There was a time I would not have hesitated to strole down the part of Highway 51.

These days, I make sure to maintain a good 5 or 6 miles from the area, even while in a car.

The hitch is, I am a little different. I have no desire to see the place anyway. Hence all I have ever seen is what I can see over the fence. It will remain that way even if someone offered me a free guided tour. I never was a fan.

Politicians Who Seek Personal Power

In the series of books I have written about floaters, I call them controllers, sort of like Old Joe and a number of senators and representatives. This would Include city mayors who like the prestige more than the job. That includes the brass in the military more interested in their news headlines than the mission and the good of his men. And then, of course there are those George Soros district attorneys who, for personal gain, have released untold numbers of the bad guys.

Need I really continue? Is any of this new to anyone?

Ant Hills

Mt 17:20, we are told if we have the faith of a mustard seed, we can command mountains to move. Maybe it also takes patience and practice.

As for me, I am still working on ant hills, though I must admit I was surprised with an occasional mole hill. In fact, if you want that type of help, you would be far better off finding someone else. Time and time again, I pray for A and I get B instead. I don’t have a good record but a negative one.

Obviously, the problem is me. I have hopes of improving. The hitch is that time is running out, and I really do need to move more than an ant hill.

Read (past tense read pronounced as the color red) the Book

Saw the movie. As usual the book was better. I don’t have any inclination at all to see the remake of Dune.

With all the ‘going woke stuff’ Hollywood stuffs in their work these days, I can’t imagine the remake being nearly as good as the original.

Regardless, I see no point to doing the research. I think I would rather watch reruns of NCIS.

Oddly Strange

Almost to the person, people holding major office have really good reasons for not having term limits.

Certainly, to be sure it could not have anything to do with self serving purposes, like gains in power and wealth.I wonder if they would feel the same way if their wealth were somehow limited. I mean who wants to continue to work for nothing more than a representative or senator’s pay, especially with the inflation as it is.

There ought to be a law

There was, at one time, a newspaper comic by the name. Maybe still is. It was one I looked forward to. Maybe I have one that should be added.

I keep seeing these adds on TV with men in military uniforms. Is there no law. There ought to be. Certainly they should not have men on active service in TV ads. Why should they be permitted to make it appear that way. It gives the appearance that they endorse that product.

I hope that is not true. I hope the government is not now or at any time doing such endorsements. It’s not right.

1 final word. Do not expect me to respond positively to such ads. Moreover, I would hope other veterans and active duty people will. I certainly hope that those now using such ads will cease. We who have fought should not be forced to appear to say things against what we believe.

THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW! Why are there none?

Mind Readers

I am currently watching Columbo on COZI TV. They started running that commercial about wrinkles under the eyes, but then as I reached the remote the commercial changed suddenly. Do you suppose they read my mind? Do you suppose they didn’t like all the repetition.

Naw. Even I know better. Still, it does make a person wonder.

regardless , it was good not to listen to all that gibberish for the millionth time.

Speaking of the Lottery

News flash. Woman just won millions in court by accusing Trump without proof. Who needs the lottery? Lots of millions floating around here, that is if you’re female and you have no qualms lying through your teeth. I mean the wopper form of lye.

Teasing cats with lasers

I’m sure they love it too. I keep it on a Keychain and they know the sound when I pick it up. I can’t take it within hand before they look at me ready to go. And they will chase it till they drop. I am not that mean to them though. Only 3 or 4 minutes at a time.

My guess is that it’s good for them. Just wish I had a little more room for them.

Truth is, I don’t know which of us enjoys it more. No, that’s not true. I do.
