Common Sense for Bullies

All the way through junior high, I was fairly tall, though I was on the skinny side. Mostly, the bullies left me alone. However, in the eighth grade, there was one guy much bigger than me. He was not only taller but much heavier too. I preferred avoiding fights, but he didn’t.

So, one day, against my better judgement, we faced off. Even though he had both the height and weight advantage, he decided he needed a rock to face me. After it was all over, I did have a bruise over my eye. A small wound compared to what he left with. Oddly, he never bothered me after that.

Unfortunately, after reaching high school, most everyone caught up with me in height and, of course, I was still skinny. That was when I learned a little of tact. Still, there were those who wanted to prove he was the better fighter.

Since those days, I spent a little time in the Marines and bulked up a little. I have hardly been confronted by bullies since then. There was one that wanted to fight me one night. Though he was much bigger, he was about to make a mistake. He was, well, should we say, inebriated. You might say, one good rule for any bully would be to avoid fights while under the influence. In this case, his girlfriend talked him out of it.

Thinking back over it, Jesus actually has some sound advice for bullies as well. Even though I am sure he never quite meant it that way, a bully should still pay heed to it.

“Or suppose a king is about to go to war against another king. Won’t he first sit down and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to oppose the one coming against him with twenty thousand?” Luke 14:31Berean Study Bible.

Of course Jesus was speaking of kings and going to war. Still, it does seem to be a good idea for bullies to avoid trying to start fights with people who are bigger than them. Moreover, they might also stay away from those who have spent nine years in the Marines. Just a suggestion. Had that man tried to fight with me, he might have hurt me, but if I hit him once, they would have carried him away in a stretcher. He was bigger. I would have had to use whatever I knew to stop him.

However, if I may, let me get back to what Jesus was talking about, warring between nations. As the implication is, even warring nations prefer to find weaker nations, as did Hitler at the beginning of his endeavors. His error was when he started going after the more powerful ones. Or as the Japanese admiral said after attacking Perl Harbor, “I’m afraid we have waken a sleeping giant.”

My conclusion from all the above is, if you don’t like war, keep yourself strong and powerful. The others may not like you but neither will they fight you. This of course means keeping any enemy from from infiltrating our borders. One enemy inside our borders can do far more damage than ten outside. Even worse, we might not be able to tell who sent him.

At this point there are many who would like to attack us and they can all take advantage of the open border Joe has provided them. The enemy needn’t fight his way in. All he need do is walk in.

I Finally Figured it Out

I get it. I’ve finally figured it out. The wealthy are trying to drive down the value of beach front property so they can buy it up. While they say the seas are rising, they keep buying properties below the predicted sea levels.

Obama has two properties that will soon be under water should his prophecy come true.

Personally, I will not believe any of them until they start building seawalls. So far, I see no hint of that. On the contrary, they keep buying the low lying expensive real estate. It is certainly clear that these FOCs don’t believe what they preach.

A side note: Some of those who have low lying mansions, just might realize that walls really do work and they just might start on their own.

Crises vs Crises

Now, let’s see. We have diseased people and criminals flowing over our border. We still have hundreds, maybe thousands of Americans and Afghans who were helpful to us in danger in Afghanistan hiding for their lives. We have thousands of containers stranded on who knows how many ships. There are hundreds going through the stores taking whatever suits their fancy, needed or not. We’re losing police, doctors, nurses and firemen by the hundreds due to mandatory vaccinatins. Note: We are not losing so much as 1 politician or lawyer.

However, it would seem the only thing Biden his FOCs are interested in are global warming and the new green deal.

Questions for the FOCs

If there are so many that want the 4T bill, why do they have to do so much arm twisting to get it passed?

If there was no cheating on the election, why do they want to bury all the evidence? Why is it they don’t want the forensic experts to see it? Could it be that they know that it was not on the up and up?

Why is it that Biden doesn’t answer questions?

If they did such a good job in Afghanistan, why is it that they no longer want to talk about it? Seems to me, if they did so well, they would want to brag about it. Oh. Wait a minute. They did and that did not go over well.

Now let me see. Just why is it again that we need to spend 4.5 trillion dollars? Just who is it that has read the bill? Actually, at this point, I don’t even think it is done. Surely they will compete it before they pass it.

Just why is it that Kamala likes to laugh so hard at serious questions?

Just why is it that we need to build recharging stations all over the US. If we do and no one buys the electric cars, who will use them? Who will maintain them? For that matter, who is going to make money off them? Could it be the friends of the FOCs?

I’m sure you can think of a few questions I haven’t. However, the biggest question of all, how are we going to get them to answer any question? It is sort of like the FOCs. They never like answering questions, especially those that probe real problems. ?

A Much Better Compromise

I understand the Minority Leader’s concern for buckling here. There was an awful lot of pressure on those two senators. However, he should not have completely given in here. He should have made it contingent on restoring the border to the way it was under Trump. He should have required the walls to be completed. That would have accomplished something, maybe. It actually would have saved lives. Moreover, it would have exposed Biden’s open borders.

Wait a minute. I don’t think that McConnell would have liked that. If my memory serves me, he was not so much in favor of the wall. There were a few republicans who didn’t like the idea of cutting off the cheap labor.

I guess he could have used the alternative. He could have insisted on continuing the pipelines, drilling and fracking, including New York. This would have helped a lot. It would have helped to bring down the price of oil. It would have put people back to work and it would have made the US energy independent again.

Then again, the FOCs might not like that. They like us dependent on others, especially Russia and China. They might have preferred to let us default. Either that, or the dems would have done the increase in debt by themselves.

At least that would have exposed the FOCs for what they are, a bunch of power hungry characters that would prefer to allow death than to permit energy independence.

Big Brother & Waste

I was listening to an interview of Robbie Starbuck who is running for 5th district in Tenn and he brought out some points that bear repeating. I won’t repeat his words but I will rather barrow his thoughts

First he came up with a suggestion. The FOCs want to be able to look into our bank transactions. No problem… if they let us look into theirs. In return for passing the law, the law should require them to post all their bank transactions over $600 on a web site the following day.

Incidentally, most do not realize, that $600 dollars as a percentage of income will decrease with inflation for both the FOCs and for us. Today, what we pay $500 dollars for, will soon be $600. Hence, as the years go by, the snooping factor will increase. I am sure they were well aware of that when they came up with the idea.

The other thought he had reminded me of was a store that provided unsold produce to charities at no charge. It went on for a while until one day someone got sick. He sued the store and won the suit. Therefore, the produce that had been going to the charities is now going into landfills. ( I call that wasteful)

It is the nature of the FOCs. Whatever they touch produces waste. The bigger the national budget, the greater the waste. Whereas it is true that the FOCs did not directly cause the waste as above, they are really good friends with the trial lawyers. I am sure some trial lawyer made a bundle on the above.

There is no telling how much food is wasted every year because the Friends of the Criminals. The stores don’t dare donate food being as the lawyers wait as ravenous wolves waiting to pounce. The example that Mr. Starbuck pointed involved a bakery where they tossed the unsold doughnuts daily. None of them went to homeless shelters.

Speaking of which, I wonder just how much the federal government wastes. $600 would not even be noticed. Actually, the FOCs likely skim $600,000 in one month. Some of it goes here. Some of it goes there. Nobody seems to notice. No one seems to care.

By the way, has anyone noticed that Biden’s son is still working for China. It’s true. Seems to me to be a good reason for impeachment. It’s not going to happen though. Biden has a D after his name.

On the other hand, you will not find many capitalists wasting things, for obvious reasons. It is another good reason to promote capitalism.

As a side note, I vote that all people who hold public office should have to work in a restaurant for 6 months. There they will get an education far more effective than any college. They will learn such things as work ethics, profit margins and plain hard work.

For those who would like something to read, check my “about” page. I have a list there of 35 books I’ve written… all fiction.

The Cost

Biden and his FOCs would have us believe that his 3.5 trillion dollar bill will be free. He says it will be paid for by the increase in taxes for the rich.

Let’s take just a little closer look at it.

First, we will pay with higher prices at the store: the rich will want their profit. Second, we will pay for it in higher utilities. Third, we will pay for it any time we buy a car: automobiles are made by rich people who want to make money. Fourth, we will pay for it in taxes. Income taxes are not the only taxes, you know.

Finally, we will pay for it in interest rates. The rich will not pay 3.5 trillion in taxes. They might pay two trillion. However, you can bet that even now the rich have lawyers figuring ways around paying the taxes. Hence, it will leave a big debt which the middle class will pay for… again.

Oh, by the way, you can also be sure that the rich have their bribers (AKA lobbyists) at work telling the congress what loopholes they want in the law. I assure you, the rich will not pay for it. The middle class will… in one way or the other.

The truth is that they want the bill for two reasons. It will provide income for their special constituents and it will provide power for them. Also, rule number one about finance, any time someone buys something, someone has to pay. If you get something free, someone has paid for it.

The FOCs Do Not Understand Oil

It’s so simple, a ten-year-old understands it, but the dems just can’t get their arms around it. When the price of oil goes up, the price of everything goes up. The reason is as simple as ABC. Oil, in some way or form is used to make everything.

The farmer uses it to plow the field and for the harvest. Oil is used in fertilizer as well as pest control. It is used to process the crop and in getting it to market. Even there, it is used by the markets for refrigeration.

Even if they go to all electric cars, the oil will be needed in the foreseeable future to make the electricity. And, by the way, it will also be needed to make the cars from the mining to welding and fabrics for the upholstery. The glass for the windows comes from factories that need the power from oil. By the way, glass is also used by the megaton in houses, buildings and aquariums – both large and small. Those six-inch thick panes of glass don’t just happen, you know. It takes a lot of power to make them.

We have come a long way with plastics. They are replacing wood, steel and glass. However, plastic is made from oil byproducts. Oil is also used in making some insulation, which helps us keep our food cold. Without the plastics, we would have to use the more expensive copper and steel for plumbing. Some of those plastic pipes are pretty big.

I suppose I could write 5 thousand word essay on just what all oil is used for. By the way, oil is used transporting oil: train, truck and even pipelines. The hitch is that it has a multiplying effect. When the price of food goes up, it causes everything else to go up. We all must buy food, though some of us should consume a little less.

When the price of glass goes up, it drives the price of cars, buildings and aquariums. When the price of steel and aluminum goes up, do I need to explain to you how that drives the cost of everything up.

So. So what? The price of oil goes up a few dollars. Just watch what happens over the following months. It is called inflation. Then everyone starts looking around, trying to understand how inflation rears its ugly head. Is it really any surprise that the cost of everything should go up 10% — or maybe a tad more. It doesn’t happen over night, but it does happen. It should not surprise anyone but it does, or at least it appears to.

The question is, are those FOCs really that dumb or are they they just pretending to be. After all, as I said, a ten-year-old can figure it out. Maybe inflation is just what they want. After all, those who benefit the most from inflation are the elite. Those who suffer the most are us Walmart shoppers.

For those interested, we could go back to using wood to stay warm as we did in the days of old. That would have two problems: deforestation and smog. Burning wood is nowhere near as clean as burning natural gas. Hence, we can easily say that some fossil fuel has helped in cleaning the air. Can you imagine all of us having to warm our house with wood… or coal.

Bottom line, we need to pump more oil. We need to do more fracking. We need to build more pipelines. That drives the price of everything down. It also has a pretty good side effect, it helps to keep the air clean.

As a side note… if you want to save a few billion particulates of carbon dioxide, do away with drive throughs. I have no idea how much gas is burned while waiting at drive throughs but I would guess it is very significant. Yet, I have not heard one dummycrat complain about them. Maybe they consider their convenience far too important. It is far too inconvenient for them to leave their Cadillac Escalade. Maybe they don’t want to get out in the heat or cold. On the other hand maybe they are just too lazy.

I don’t know. Maybe one or two of the elites will tell me. (to be sure, I make an exception for those who are disabled.)

A Double Fix

They say the carbon dioxide level is too high. So the first solution is to remove some carbon dioxide from the air and put it in large tanks of various sizes.

The second solution is to stage the tanks in strategic locations near forest and airports. In the event of a forest fire, at the correct time, release the carbon dioxide into the fire. Some tanks could be airlifted into location before being discharged.

This would replace the normal air around the fire and would reduce the burn rate, or maybe extinguish the fire entirely.

As a side note, it would greatly reduce the exhaust from the burning wood, which produces more smog than any fossil fuel. This smog, of course, contains carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

I doubt anyone would be interested in using such a method. The expense would be far greater than the benefit. The forests are not worth that much. Besides, if it worked, it would take an argument from both the tree hugers and the climate changers.

Maybe a better way would be to remove some of the trees each year, which would decrease some of the fuel. Moreover, the trees that are removed could be put to good use, far better use than if they were reduced to ashes.

Percy Shaw

There are not likely too many who know the name but he provided a very important little invention in 1934. Have ever notice those little reflectors on the highway? Well, we can thank Percy for them.

To be sure, over the years they have undergone many changes. Today if we see white reflectors, we can be pretty sure that we are going the right way. If we are going the wrong way, the reflectors are red. Come to think of it, there are likely not many that know that. I didn’t know it until one day I was riding at night and saw the reflectors were red. With no oncoming traffic, it took me about two seconds to realize I was going the wrong way. I simply thought I was in the center lane.

A short time later, I did see some oncoming traffic and I sure was glad I figured things out.

There are orange reflectors too. Normally they indicate the center line. However they are used for other things too. Blue reflectors indicate a fire hydrant. It makes it easier for the firemen to find them. Occasionally, green markings are used too.

The nice thing is that they can easily be seen in the dark, in the rain and generally in the fog. Before their general use I noticed that when it rained, the white lines had a tendency to disappear. The light from my headlights reflected off the lines and continued away from me. With the reflectors, the light is bounced back to me. This is especially nice because the reflectors do not need any electricity or wiring. They use the light from our headlights.

I cannot imagine what their cost is, though it can’t be much. Somewhere, some factory must be turning them out by the thousands, if not millions. Whatever the cost, it is likely well worth it. I am convinced they save lives every day.

The little reflectors are used all over the world. I would suspect that they are even used in China and Russia, though they both likely claim they invented them. I really don’t believe they were invented in any communist country. The invention was made for profit. In communism, there is no profit. Percy was likely a capitalists. Though he knew his invention would be good, his primary goal was to make a pound or two from them. (He was English) It is called capitalism and without it, the little reflectors would have not been invented for years, maybe never.
