Where’d all Those Rockets Come From?

Do you suppose Iran provided the rockets and money for the attacks by Hamas on Israel?

Do you suppose Iran is using the money provided Old Joe?

To my greater point, do you really think the dems place any importance on human life and safety?

Finally, do you really think any of this would have happened if President Trump were still in office?

For that matter, what about the disasters in Afghanistan and Ukrainian?

People are dying directly due to Old Joe’s foreign policies!

Brandon Presley Says he is Pro Life

If Presley is pro life, he is in the wrong party. Should he become governor, they would toss him out of the party should he make one pro life decision. He is just carrying the pro life banner long enough to get elected. Then he would show his true colors.

Let’s face it, the dems are 110% pro abortion and they are proud of it. By the way, my guess is that Planned Parenthood is contributing to his campaign and I am sure Presley is making sure they know they have his support.

Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely

John Dalberg-Acton is credited with the above statement. The other day, I was considering it and what the Bible says about the love of money being the root of all evil. (1st Timothy 6:10). As I thought it over, I realized that the love of power certainly has it’s part in it too.

However, there is a difference. Not everyone thirst after power as they do after money. Most of us wouldn’t want the power if it was given to us. I certainly don’t.

On the other hand, there are those who lust after power almost since birth. History is replete with them, mostly bad. Moreover, as the above saying suggest, the more power a person has, the more he wants. It becomes, as has been said by others, something of an opiate.

However, it is also true of groups and organizations. Indeed, some generals have gone insane from it. Those like Nero went absolutely mad with it. There has been more than one fight over throwns because of it. Europe was full of one war after the other during the dark and middle ages. Modern wars have been fought to either maintain or gain power, such as both world wars. The Soviet Union was formed to take power(control) of the world by lying that communism would fix everything.

The western world was not alone in the striving for power. I mean, just why was the Great Wall of China built? By the way, did you ever notice all the ancient cities were built with walls around them. For sure the walls were built frequently before the homes. Why? Because there were those who sought to rule over other cities and other nations.

Now, I ask you, what modern day organization seeks power? I’ll give you a hint. They break the law all the time and claim that others are breaking the law. They promise the moon but provide little or nothing. They break the election laws and claim their opponents do.

They take away our freedoms, (the Bill of Rights) while claiming others are trying to take away our democracy. They lie while claiming everyone else is lying. They promise life but kill by the millions.

Now let’s see, it is the dems that fraught for slavery. It was the dems that tried to keep the Black race from voting. It is the dems that tried to keep the Black people from learning to read. Now they have the nerve to try to claim the Republicans did it.

It is the dems that will not let people pray in school. It is the dems that try to make everyone pay for the killing of Black babies. (abortion) And it is the dems that are trying to keep people from having their say in colleges.

Sounds to me like those dems are maybe just a bit power hungry. Sounds to me that those dems have been corrupted by that power.

My Thanks and Appreciation to the Voters of Memphis

Don’t know for sure.  However, my best guess is that the value of my property just went up somewhere in the neighbor hood of 8 or 9 thousand.  Just a guess.  It does take a while to verify things sometimes.

However, Memphis just had an election and they chose a mayor who will not quash the crime problem.  Most likely, he will make sure to drive the treasury well into debt and he likely won’t help the transit system much either.  If anyone expects the LG&W outfit to improve, think again.  You just put the wrong man in the job of mayor to expect that.

The fact is that the new mayor will likely do everything he can to destroy the city from every point he can think of.  I would say it will be from ignorance but he will know exactly what he is doing.  By the way, he will also have the Dems, AKA communists, behind him helping him in every way.

Even now, I suspect the phones at U-Haul have started ringing.  They will be one of the few businesses in Memphis to benefit, at least for a while.  Already, many businesses have threatened to shut down or move.  Why should they stick around when their customers are heading south, north, east and west?

And so it is… the property values in Memphis will head south as the populace takes off for parts unknown.  And, of course, part of them will be headed for Desoto County.  That will drive my property value up.

There are, of course three downsides for me.  Our streets will be more crowded.  Those driving our streets will be more reckless.  Worst-of-all, they will likely bring their democrat ideas with them and ruin things down here the same as they did up there.

Be it know that the voters just put a Friend of Criminals, what I call FOCs in the mayor’s chair. No doubt, as time unfolds, he will make sure to put more FOCs into various city positions. Also, he has friends, AKA as city councilmen and women. If this keeps up, I just might be able to retire.

Wait a minute. I am retired. I am sure you get the idea.

Not a Fan of Crowds

Daily writing prompt
Tell us about a time when you felt out of place.

Put me in a crowd and I will head for a corner.

Actually, when I saw the prompt, I had a little laugh. People rarely are interested in anything I want to say. Moreover, much of what I hear in a crowd, I wish I had a way to unhear. (Or un see) Many crowds have folks who are drinking, and I don’t mean tea. I don’t like being around others who are drinking, even one on one.

Very few have any interest in discussing electronics, computers, Christianity or politics. Might I remind that we are cautioned about taking about religion and politics. It somewhat limits my conversation.

As usual, I could talk about the weather. As Mark Twain, said, “Everyone talks about the weather, but no one does anything about it.”

I guess old Samuel Clemens never felt out of place. He seemed to always have something to say. I sure wish I had his gift of gab. It sure would be nice to have folks listen to me when explaining the plan of salvation. It would be nice if I could command the attention of thousands when I warn against the fallacies of communism.

Well, little as it is, I do what I can, even though I can’t draw a crowd.

Calculating the Cost

I can’t remember the city, sorry. Many decades ago they had a very bad fire. As per usual, many fire departments from other cities came to help. All they could do, more or less, was stand by and watch. They were able to provide some manpower, but all the equipment they brought was useless. It didn’t fit the local hydrants.

I am sure many of you can cite case after case of the cost of not standardizing. In this case, the city burnt and there was really no way to calculate the cost of not standardizing fire equipment. Well, some good came from it. Some folks, the ones who were smart stepped back and said, we need to take a look at this. So they did. Nowadays, all fire equipment has been standardized. Throughout the country, one city uses the same sized equipment as any other city. The disaster of non-standard fire equipment will never again be repeated.

When folks all come to their own standards, it is expensive. It is a problem we should not repeat, but we do. The result is that it is again expensive. And it cost a lot too. At one time, when my headlight went out on my car, I’d go down to the store and buy a new sealed beam light. It was standard, no matter who built the car, the light was the same.

It took me all of three minutes to replace the light. It cost me $10.95. I didn’t need a special patch on my shoulder to certify that I knew how to replace head lights. Now. Well. If you need a sealed beam headlight, good luck. I’m not even sure they make them anymore.

It is worse than that. Now that I have an electric car, I must look for a charger compatible with my car. There are at least 3 types if level three chargers. How’s that for standardization.

So. If I decide to set up a charge station, as the old service stations, I must install 3 chargers, which, by the way, are very expensive. I would need two for Teslas and one for the rest. Maybe two or three more. I don’t know. Who could have foreseen that?

I guess not one person with the power to standardize things ever considered the cost of not standardizing. So, I drive up to the place on my map that says that there is a charger. My car says my battery is just about dry and I discover, guess what. that charger will not charge my car.
What do I do now? Where is there another charger compatible with my car in less than 30 miles.

Well, I guess there is one thing. I can drive to where they sell generators, fill it with gas and start charging my car. For that matter, before I light out on my trip, I put a generator in my trunk filled with gas. If it has 220 outlet on the generator, it will likely take 4 or 5 hours to get it charged up enough to get to the next charger that I can use. If it is not not compatible, I can gas up the generator, break out the sleeping bag and wait.

Standardization for the electric auto industry is not an option. It is an necessity. Without it, the electric car will fade away, as it did before. Most folks drive more than I do, 10 or 15 miles a day. Many like going on extended trips. If they can’t do it in an electric car, they will not buy one, no matter what the going green folks have to say.

Follow-up on Over Engineering

Those who read Over-engineering might be be like to see this.

First a very quick review. Bought a 60$ battery charger to charge the battery on my HHR. I don’t know if it will charge but it will analyze a battery. After several attempts to charge the battery, it kept telling me I had a bad battery.

So, I went and bought a 3 amp $20 charger. It worked just fine and I was able to start the car. In the morning, I will take the car in and have the battery replaced, which, by the way was impossible with the 60 dollar charger/analyzer. I will not have to call a tow truck out. If Chevy hadn’t over-engineered the battery compartment, I could have gone out and bought a battery and replaced the thing myself.

Anyone want to ask me why I bought a Nissan?

Really? Bronze Age?

Daily writing prompt
Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

For what reason would we even want to go back to the typewriter age. Computers have become very important tools for almost all of us. Of course there are some, such as the Memphis Light, Gas and Water Company that still haven’t gotten the knack of it yet.

Still, I hate the idea of pounding out a post on an old typewriter. Moreover, even when done, without the computer, there is no way to publish it.

I don’t like the typewriter age much more than the bronze age. Running water is so much nicer than having to go out to the well and haul the stuff in by bucket. I don’t know but maybe the going green folks would like it. I mean, computers do use a lot more electricity than the old manual typewriters. AND, with the phones we have nowadays, we all use a lot of electricity just to talk to each other, or to play games.

How Does That Work?

Just saw something new today; or at least I think it is. A sign was on a new medical building, something to the affect, Drive Through Medical.

I guess the above question applies in 2 ways. That is to say, how successful, and how is it managed?

I wonder if they take appointments or if you just get in line. I really am afraid to speculate too much. Conceivably, it is actually practical and convenient.

However, for the time being, I’m going to stay with my internist. I don’t mind a short walk into his office. It’s the wait I’d prefer to avoid.

I wonder what the wait time is at the drive through.

Over-engineering

I needed a battery charger so I bought one a few weeks ago; or at least I thought I did. It was a little expensive but it was a Die Hard name brand so I bought it. This afternoon I got it out to use it and realized it was more than I wanted and less.

Without asking it to, it analyzed my battery and said it was faulty and stopped. Now isn’t that neat. I don’t even get the option of charging the battery anyway. It just stopped. After several more attempts, it just kept saying the battery was bad and stopped. Sure am glad the car was a backup, otherwise I would have had to call a tow truck right then and there. I mean, if I can’t get the battery charged, I can’t drive the car up to the shop and get it replaced.

It might be a really slick battery charger, but in this case, I really did need a battery charger, not an analyzer. Whose idea was that, anyway? At least, now I know why the thing was so expensive. Now, of course I need a real battery charger so I can get my car to a place where I can get the battery replaced. Either that or I will need to call a tow truck. I sit here in front of my computer wondering just which will cost me more.

At any rate, I figured maybe others can profit from my mistake. If you need to buy a battery charger, you just might check before you buy it and get more than you want. Or is it less than you want. Well. actually, if you need an analyzer as well as a charger, it just might be what you’re looking for.

I guess I’ll keep it. Maybe one of these days, I’ll actually need a charger that is an analyzer or an analyzer that is also a charger.

Now! One might ask, why do I need to take the car to the shop to get the battery changed. Well, those that have read my posts for a long time know that I bought a Chevy that I am not so pleased with. One of the really neat things about it is that I can’t change the battery. I have to take it to a shop. That’s right, they really buried it. Some more over-engineering. I have changed over half a dozen batteries in my life. When they built this one, they wanted me to have to come back to the shop. Same for the $50 headlights. The total on that one is $100. 50 for the light and 50 to put it in.

That is another reason I will never buy another Chevy. Worse, they don’t like listening to my complaints. I have searched for hours trying to find a complaint department on the net. Back then it didn’t exist. Maybe they do now. If so, it’s too late. I already bought a Nissan.

Regardless, I suspect they’d not listen to me anyway. Otherwise, why did they make sure not to listen to me before. Those folks building GM autos might want to start making backup plans. If GM refuses to listen to their customers, I suspect their sales will fall, quickly.

And! by the way. It is just another reason to make me hesitate in buying another. It is what I call the CEO effect. If GM CEOs drove their own cars, I don’t think we, the regular customers would need to complain. The CEOs would make sure the problems were fixed.

As a side note to the side note, I bought a FOB over the internet. It’s been working now for about a year. Couldn’t get any of the others to work more than three months. Apparently, others have been having problems with them too. It’s sort of why so many have been selling on the internet.

Now, let me see. I wonder if the Die Hard CEO ever had to charge a battery with this battery charger. I wonder if it told him he had a bad battery.
