Guess

Two streets of 10 homes. Those living in the houses on 1 street are never permited to have guns, bows & arrows or baseball bats.

On the other street they are required to have at least one hand gun and one shotgun. The homes that have the guns are well known.

Guess which of the homes are more probably going to have robberies. Guess which ones are more probably going to come under assault.

Now, let’s change things. Still only 10 homes are armed but no one knows which ones. If you were a burglar, which homes would you choose to rob.

Logically, not many would take a chance to rob any. The 10 armed homes would effectively provide some protection for those not armed.

For this reason, I suggest it is advantageous to all that some are armed. If no homes are armed, all homes are subject to robbery, armed robbery or outright assault. In other words, that fella down the street with an AR15 or a 12 guage or even that .38 is helping to keep you safe, almost as effectively as that entire police department.

The Real Trump Error

Had businessman Trump moved to Florida or Texas 5 years earlier, the NY, NY would not have been able to charge President Trump with anything.

The lesson we should all take away from this tragedy is, don’t live in NY, NY. We probably ought to stay out of CA, IL, and similar other states too.

Note: If you live in NY, NY, you to can be charged with 34 crimes you didn’t commit either.

The Reason

There is a reason they come. They immigrate by the millions. They fly in. They drive in. They walk in. They swim in and they come by boat. Even more want to leave their country and come to the USA but can’t.

They come in legally ar greate expense. They come in illegally at great risk. Many hide here hoping that they won’t have to return…this sometimes risking lives of family, friends and themselves.

There are a few very good reasons for this. Certainly, one reason is because of our justice system. I mean in other countries people are imprisoned for political reasons.

That just doesn’t happen in this country, that is, until now.

Joe and His Green Crowd FIGURATIVELY Got Shot Down

First, let me re-emphasize “figuratively.” That does not mean literally. No one shot at them, not even a peashooter. I say that lest someone misconstrue the meaning of my words.

If I heard the report right, a federal judge just OKed Phillips Petroleum’s drilling in Alaska, or at least the preparation for it. Now they can build the road, which will permit them to move their equipment in. Biden fought to stop them. He loves drilling for oil and mining for all sorts of things, as long as it is not within the US. He does not like anything benefiting American industry unless approved by the greenies.

I just love it when Joe and his greenies suffer such setbacks. To be sure, when they have setbacks, the American people benefit. In this case, it just might help hold the price down at the gas pumps. The only people that don’t like that are the greenies, those building wind mills and solar batteries, and those invested in EVs.

AND, by the way, from another but related report. Did you hear? The Saudis decided to decrease oil production. Or was it that they will try to increase prices. Either way, it is same, same.

How Much is Enough?

I once had a hope of having a million dollars… at which time I would retire and never again work. To be sure, 10 millions wouldn’t last some more than a week. I suppose there are a few people who spend more than a million dollars in a day and think little or nothing of it.

It prompts the question, just how much is enough?

At one time, I actually had hopes of approaching the million dollars but then came Obama care. That soaked the funds out of my savings about 10 times faster than I could replenish it. I thought I had enough. Suddenly I was begnning to think I would have to work 10 years beyond my death.

There was a comedian who said it well. “I’m not selfish. All I need is enough to pay for all I need and all I want.” I guess the definition of all we want varies vary much. Moreover, some people don’t even make enough for their needs, let alone what they want.

There are many who ask if this is right. They think if we just take money from those who have more than enough for their needs and many of thier wants and give it to those who don’t have enough for their needs, it would make the world into a utopia.

Those who think that way simply don’t live in the real world. Their reasoning has been blinded by their idealism. Moreover, they started handing out cell phones to people who don’t need them. Believe it or not, cell phones are not necessities. A person can easily survive without them. Yet, socialists called them a basic need and took money away from those like me. In order to get my cell phone, I had to give up other things.

Then again, Obama and his friends had no interest in me. I was paying my way, plus a huge 1000 dollar a month health insurance premium. I never was rich and it seems the dems are determined to keep me from it.

Which actually brings me to my point. The wealthy are wealthy and are likely to remain so, due to the laws written by the friends of criminals and of course the wealthy bribing, aka lobbying, aka payoffs. Also, those not wealthy are likely to remain, as me, not wealthy. They don’t want the likes of me joining those with big bank accounts.

It seems, in reality, the government has a really hard time determining what is enough, that is to say, the difference between needs, wants and outright freebies. In addition, they don’t seem to know the difference between those down on their luck and the folks with their hands out.

If the truth be told, the FOC are not out to help the poor but rather themselves. They know that out of every dollar going through government control, some of it indirectly remains in the hands of the legislators and those who provide the payoffs aka lobbyist. It is why poor legislators become rich without any other apparent income other than the checks they draw in exchange for supposedly representing us.

QUESTION: Just what does the word lobby, as in large room, have to with bribes, as in payoffs.

USB

Most of us are familiar with the abbreviation for Universal Serial Bus. Can’t remember exactly when but the concept mostly started because the printer parallel port was becoming outdated.

Engineers had figured a way to run non printer devices off the parallel port but it was a slow cluge. Not only that. The printers were getting faster and sometimes had to wait while the printer port caught up.

In addition, they were starting to feel the limits of devices on the PC. 2 serial and one parallel port was very limiting to many. For a while they held on, but once the USB technology came along, it all but eliminated both the serial and parallel ports. Moreover, even the mouse and keyboard connections are disappearing.

I do find it odd, but this revolution has dramatically changed other things too, I suspect without plan or expectations. It started with cell phones. Every cell I’ve had after my first, was and is charged by USB. Now, it seems everything is charged by USB cable. I have cameras, flashlights and a GPS that must occasionally be connected to a USB cable from time to time. I’m sure it is only the beginning of charging everything but our auto off the system.

The odd thing is that the USB is no longer universal. I have one for my phone, one for my external disk drives and still another for my printer. Nowadays, when you go into a computer store and ask for a USB cable it is akin to asking for a turkey sandwich at Subway. Six or twelve inch length bread. Italian, wheat, cheese, etc. Just as there are many types of bread, there are many types of non-Universal Serial Buses as well as various lengths.

Here’s a hint. When in search for a USB cable, be sure which one you need.

On the other hand, if you have a new printer as mine, you don’t need a printer cable of any kind. The computer communicates via radio waves. Maybe they are going to attempt to do away with USBs. ??Maybe?? Then the cables would just be used for charging things. Wonder how long it woult take to charge an EV with one.

The Unanticipated Obvious

I’ve said it and said it again. I barely made it through high school. I have no college degree, though I did have a littie college. Yet it seems I anticipated something the guys with with the big degrees overlooked. At least, they chose to ignore it.

When they first started really pushing the electric autos, I actually wrote a post pointing out that the electric power grid would need some serious beefing up.

I don’t guess anyone paid any attention to me because it was only today I heard of anyone else taking note of the problem. As obvious as it was from the beginning, it seems to have taken about 4 years to realize that the grid just isn’t up to it.

Their suggestion to deal with the problem is to charge the batteries at work during the day instead of at home at night.

Guess I can’t have an electric car. Can’t plug it in at work. I’m retired.

Nullifying Advertising

It’s crazy nuts. Big corporations, mostly restaurants spend fortunes on advertising to draw customers in. Then they let their staff stand around and chat while we, the hungry customers wait.

I know it happens because I have seen it. I don’t expect to be treated as royalty, but when I stand and wait a full 3 or 4 minutes and watch, it does make me suspect they’d just as soon I visit some other establishment.

In one case, I waited five minutes for the food and another five minutes for the drinks. Still trying to figure out that one. Then there’s the nice big restaurant (used to be my favorite). I waited close to 1/2 an hour for the food. Then, twice I asked for a knife and fork. The nice hot food was lukewarm by the time I was able begin eating.

Why do they do things like that. How long does it take to draw 2 drinks. Why should it take 30 minutes to fetch forks and knives. I was even willing to give the waitress a break. If she’d have gotten me something to eat with right away, I would have ignored it. However, the wife and I had to remind her twice and it would have been nice to have a good hot meal. I mean the cook did make it.

There are dozens of times this sort of thing happened. I don’t wonder why the employees act this way. Given the chance most employees have a tendency to be slack. My question is, why do the employees think they can get away with it. I suspect the managers are sending the wrong signals.

The restaurants have a lot of competition. They ought not treat customers like that. It sort of nullifies all their expensive ads. I mean, do we believe our eyes or the ads?

NY, NY

President Trump was just indicted by a New York not so grand jury. This says far more about New York, New York than it does about President Trump. It states volumes about the prosecutor and it speaks volumes about the people of New York, New York.

By the way, it might also explain why folks are leaving the state by the hundreds of thousands, especially from the City of New York. Moreover, it will give the city and the state a black eye for as long long as they might remain.

I am a native of California and every day I become more ashamed of it. Just maybe those who come from New York will go well out of their way to keep us from knowing it. Then again, what do I know? They just might be foolish enough to be proud of their city, their prosecutor and their state. The folks up there will never fail to amaze me. Those people up there aren’t just nuts. They’re crazy nuts.

Unwinnable

Over time, I’ve come to the conclusion that the US will never win another war. The reason is more than clear. We have forgotten how to fight to win. That makes it logical that we cannot win if we continue to fight only enough to keep from losing.

Then, over time, we inevitably tire of the fight and we lose. More accurately, we give up and withdraw.

When we went into Iraq, it was said we learned the lesson of Vietnam. Yet, about 10 years later, we abandoned the Iraq people and watched the massive killing of over a million. We did even worse in Afghanistan.

How much worse can we do? I think we are going to find out soon.
