Money, Money, Money

Off and on, I’ve been following hearings on antisemitic speach and activities on our colleges. I have found the college leadership horrid in this respect; or maybe I should say it is without respect.

Then, or should I say now we see, there is an altogether different nature of respect, although it is one of the oldest. It seems once people and governments begin the threat of withholding fortunes, attitudes change. Indeed, resignations are submitted. Apologies, begrudgingly come forth.

Why should I bring this to mind? For what purpose do I write these few words. To be sure, what prompts me to raise this to the world’s attention?

As usual, it seems as if, if you really want the colleges and universities to behave themselves, it’s a simple matter of talking money, or should I suggest you withhold your dollars. You and I both know even the threat of loss of dollars speaks volumes.

Well, they have no fear of me withholding my fortune. I have none. Still, I do what little I can. Hopefully others will too. Antisemitic activities should not be tolerated in any of our colleges, certainly not those receiving our tax dollars.

Finally, antisemitism ought not be tolerated in this country. If we can tolerate those whose nationality has done what they can do, to the point of building destruction and murder of lives, then we ought to tolerate a race that has been nothing but peaceful and beneficial to our nation and our economy.

Don’t you think?

Rating Govs

I had an idea yesterday as my car was being fixed. Maybe we need a way of rating governors. We could have 8 or 10 objective things that would provide a picture of how good or bad a governor is. I think right up there at the top might be how well he did at balancing the state budget. Then of course, we would want a rating on crime, an index based on all the felonies under his watch. Well this would need to be weighted. I mean, he obviously cannot take be held responsibile for the crimes for his fist month in office.

Then, there is the new one. It is what I call the immigration factor. That is to say, how many folks moved in or out of the state into another one. For example, those moving from New York to Texas. Each such person making the move would be a negative for New York and a positive for Texas. Those moving from California would have to be counted double. I mean, who in their right mind would ever want to leave beaches in Southern California for, well almost any state. It is true Florida has beaches but no mountains. Even more, everyone knows it will be completely under water in ten years. Someone said so , about 25 years ago. Hence, Florida population growth should be counted triple. There is the weather aspect too. The OK state gets a bunch of tornadoes so they should get some kind of offset. The gulf coast, gets floods. Not so many want to go down that way. Otherwise Mississippi and Alabama would have a lot more folks; maybe double.

Just a thought that you might want to maul it around in your mind. There is of course, one more thing, a question. Just why would we need such a thing? Why can’t people to see how bad the governors of
California and New York are. Why should it take a rating system to make it obvious. Yet, guess what. They keep voting for them.

However, it does give a new logic to the fight or flight phrase. Those folks that are in states like California or New York. Do they stay and fight to improve things or do they take flight, realizing the hopelessness of the situation.

The Hated Truth; The Fear of the Light

Jesus walked this world a little over 2 thousand years ago. That… is indisputable. He and what He did is Biblical and historical. That He performed miracles was well known. It was one of the reasons the leaders of Israel sought to take His life.

To be sure, Jesus gave his life. They didn’t take it. It was foretold in the scriptures, Isaiah, psalms and Daniel to mention a few. Yet the leaders still did their part to fulfill their part of those prophecies.

And why was it that they killed a man who’s only crime was to do good, heal people and teach the truth. It does seem to be the nature of folks, especially those in power. You see, the leadership looked on Jesus as competition. They were desperately afraid, first that He would replace them in their powerful places of leadership. Second that He would put light on motives and the people would see them for what they were. For most of them, it would have been very embarrassing.

It is not the first time nor will it be the last. People, bad people seek power and they will do whatever it takes to get it. And, such people hate people who tell the truth that others might see their motives and their purpose. Such people fear the light, which will possibly expose their sin, their theft greed and their deeds.

Certainly, President Trump was far from being an angel. He used horrible language. He did things I am sure I would never want to admit to my parents, or anyone for that matter.

However, his primary sin he committed was that he confronted the very worst in government. He spoke the truth and exposed the the wrongdoers on both sides of the isle. He shined the light on the sins of the rich and powerful.

Trump was not nearly anything like Jesus, but when it comes to truth and light, he was accomplishing about the same thing, though in a more crude means.

For his efforts, no one received more torture in perhaps 2000 years. Okay. I admit. I am exaggerating. However you get the idea.

The fact is that he has had falsehood after falsehood leveled against him. Once he disproves one thing, they charge him with two more. And like Jesus, they are going after Trump’s followers.

I guess they figure they don’t want any of his friends spreading the truth either. It would stand to reason they don’t like the idea of any light exposure from any one or anything. It would mean the loss of prestige, money and…of course, power. For sure, how can they maintain control without the power.

and, to the dems, control is everything.

Hope & Change

It was Obama’s saying, which likely propelled him into the White House. One might ask, well, what’s wrong with a little hope. What is so wrong with a little change.

Indeed, the thought sounds like such a good idea. But lets take a closer look. First, let’s look at the obvious flaw, that is the change. Certainly, it was more than a little change. It was massive, certainly to me. Obama care cost me 30,000 dollars. By the way, I could not afford it. The wife and I are living almost totally on Social Security. His change just almost wiped out my 401k. It also forced my wife into drawing Social Security early. If she hadn’t, it would have wiped out the remainder of my 401k.

I suspect there are many others who can site many other things. And, incidentally, other than medical office visits, we had not one claim on it. So, that 30 grand essentially all went into the circular file. Ask me if I like Obama’s change. Moreover, I am very suspicious that many others agree. I have also had a few talks with doctors who agree with me.

By the way, lest you forget, the only way they got Obama care through was by bribe, legal bribe, yes, but it was still a bribe and it was wrong. Moreover, it is proof, positive that it would not have passed on its own merit.

Now, consider my chair, a big recliner. I really like it. However, when I purchased it, I had little hope in it. At the store, I tried it out and, well, I really liked. Still, it’s a chair. The only thing I expected from it was to support me in comfort as I watched TV. I did get a little extra. I am sitting in it while I compose this post on my little hand hand held computer. So far, it has held me, for about 4 or 5 years. So far, it has not collapsed or thrown me as a wild horse. I guess, one day it might but so far, I think it will hold for a while. I HOPE it will. On the other hand, I don’t think it will fetch the mail or fix my breakfast. I have no HOPE of that.

Clearly, I had no hope of Obama doing one good thing for anyone other than himself. Obviously, he gave me not one reason to change my mind.

Near as I can tell, he didn’t help anyone else, least of all, the African-Americans. Maybe they know something I don’t. Maybe he actually did try to educate them, but education was degraded during his presidency.

Well, did he help any ethnicity while in office. Near as I can tell, the Asians are doing some better. Blacks, Latino and Jews didn’t seem to benefit from anything he did. Christians definitely didn’t benefit from anything he did. Thousands of them died in Iraq when he decided to just up an leave. I really don’t think he cares. Never heard so much as one person ask him.

Looks to me, when he promised hope and change, the promise was empty. The only one he really wanted to help was himself. He wasn’t a millionaire when he first entered politics, but he is now. Just where do you suppose all his money came from? He spent less than one term as senator, two terms as president and, poof, instant multi-millionaire.

If you think he came by it honest, you are easily deceived. Deception seems to be Obama’s specialty.

Logic 101

The consonances of the libs is never chase the criminal unless they have committed a violent crime. Okay. No problem. New instructions for police. Just let them continue to commit crimes until they commit a violent crime. Then, go get them.

Down here in Desoto County, we don’t do things that way. If we catch him the first time, we just might keep him from committing that violent crime. That way, we don’t have so many violent crimes. That way we don’t have so many folks killed while sitting in the living room watching the football game.

I wonder if I could interest anyone on bullet-proofing their home. I think I can do it for the right price.

Who Are the Victims

The Muslims would like us to believe that they are the number one victims in the world. It is simply not true. The Muslim victims account for roughly 15% of religion based hate crimes while 57 % were committed by anti-Jews. Not even close.

No such crimes should be committed at all. However, I think it is time for the Muslims to find someone else’s shoulder to cry on, not mine. Far more crimes are committed against a far smaller population of Jews. And, I might add, with far less reason.

Who Woke Old Joe?

For over 3 years we conservatives have been yelling from the mountain tops about the deaths caused from fentenyl. Then the other day, he makes it a major part of a speech, as if someone just woke him and told him about it.

Now, will someone please convince him to seal the border. Fixing the drug problem is one of half a dozen problems fixed by a closed border. Just ask the families of those killed by one of many of those who broke the law to get here. Also, they generally break the law to stay here.

The Age of Reversal

Down through time, there have been significant eras. There were the dark ages, the time after Rome fell. There was the time of enlightenment, when people started to read and understand that which the Catholic Church kept hidden. Then of course, the middle ages, the part betwixt and between.

Then, of course there was the industrial revolution. It was a time when people started leaving the farms to work in factories. If you want to go farther back in time, we have the rock age, the bronze age and the iron age. I suppose there might have been a glass age, but I don’t recall any. None-the-less, glass did change things. It permits us to look through walls without permitting the wind and insects in. That is kind of important too.

I think, if I had the where-with-all of naming an age, I would call the time of the 1960s through the 1980s, the time of reversals. Perhaps it might be called the time of change, but I would say that reversals more accurately describes it.

You see, many things reversed in that time. They didn’t just change; they reversed. Such as what, you ask?

Well, let’s start with gambling. In 1960, about the only place a person could legally gamble in this country was Nevada. If my memory serves me right, all other states made it illegal except on the horse and dog race tracks. In New York, many played the “numbers,” but it wasn’t legal. Many were put in jail for it.

Then one day, they started opening legal gambling here and there. The numbers became the lotto and now it is legal to bet on almost anything anywhere. At first, it was by trickle. I believe NY, NY was about the first to allow the lotto. It was “to support the schools only.” Well that didn’t last long. I don’t know for sure, but I suspect the schools don’t get any of the lotto money anymore. If they do, it is nothing more than a pretense.

It seems, invariably, almost anything will be permitted for the benefit of education, even if it isn’t. I don’t know who it was that said it, but it was said well. “When they start saying it’s for the kids, grab hold of your wallet.” (Or was it pocket book) Regardless, in the name of education, we have permitted a lot and we will very likely add to it in the future.

In 1960, there were no topless places, none. As for what is permitted now… I won’t even go there. I will say, that by 1990, almost all the restrictions were removed from that area of morality.

In 1960, the killing of babies before they were born was done only illegally. If a woman wanted that sort of thing, it was generally only done by doctors who had lost their licenses or by someone who had learned from someone else. Some had brought up the subject, but it would quickly get quashed. It was a subject to avoid. Certainly, it was not discussed on the 6 O’clock news where the kids could hear.

Now, at one time, they have actually considered killing babies after they are born. I suspect, behind closed doors, it was discussed far more.

It was indeed a time of reversal. Only those without morals, those without God that would consider it progress. Indeed, I’d say, we have taken a few giant steps back. I believe I have that on good authority. It isn’t so much that God agrees with me. I would suspect it is more that I agree with Him.

Perhaps one of the worst part of it all is that, nowadays, all of this new morality is taught in schools and if we complain, we get our names added to some list somewhere.

The Instant Millionaire

My memory is a little foggy. I tried to use the internet to clear things up but I failed. Sometime in the days of the top 40 being aired on the radio (late 1950s), there was a famous disc jockey. As I say, my memory is foggy, so please forgive me if I’m wrong. If I had to hazard a guess, I’d say the man was Jim Hawthorne.

At any rate, whoever he was, came up with the idea and suggested it on the radio. He said, with 35 million in the United States, (or whatever it was back then) if everyone sent me just a quarter, I would be an instant millionaire. (and by the way, back then a million dollars was a fortune)

Well, he wasn’t serious, but many of his listeners took him seriously. Indeed, if I remember right, he did receive close to a quarter of a million dollars, in quarters.

It all sounds nice enough, but he got in some real trouble for that. I don’t know why; however, he was required, as much as possible, to return all the money.

Perhaps it is a law, maybe an FCC regulation. Maybe the radio station didn’t like it. However, that little case of foot in mouth disease cost the man plenty, over nothing more than a few quarters.

Odd. It seems harmless enough. However, I guess if a person is going to ask for money, there is a legal way of doing it. A person can’t just ask for it. I guess if they do, they are asking for it. As for me. I look at this way. It’s just another way to keep me from becoming an instant millionaire.

NOTE: Please do not send me any quarters.

I-10 Fire Logics

I think it has become pretty well established that the fire that took out a large section of I-10 was set intentionally. I might point out that whoever did it chose his target effectively.

First, it is a very major artery taken by thousands to and from work every day. Second, it’s a major truck route for trucks taking cargo from the harbor to points east. Third, there is an event planned, which will likely need to be moved or canceled. Finally, the highway was elevated. That means it will take a lot of time and money to repair it.

For sure, it is just the sort of thing a terrorist would select. With a small effort and expense, the arsonist, terrorist or not, caused a lot of disruption. I suspect it was his exact purpose.

It was my suspicion the instant I heard it might be arson. Though I thought it might also be terrorists, I decided to hold off until they were sure it was arson.

Even now, there is nothing to be said for sure; however, considering the the above, it would seem to be something to look into.

Also, given the flood of folks headed north over the border, I would suspect there are many that could have done it.

Besides, even if it was not a terrorist that did it, the arsonist may still have been on the south side of the border a week or two ago.
