Do You Know Where your Federal Gas Taxes Go?

Neither do I. I tried to find out. From all I can figure, it was originally supposed to help build federal highways. Of course, all money is fungible and your guess is as mine. It seems to me, someone said it has gone to support Amtrak. I guess that means every time one of those folks riding the train on the east coast, I am helping to pay for it. I really don’t understand that. Why can’t they pay fare, all of it. From the 1850s the feds have helped the railroads with money and land. Then in return, they overcharged our farmers to get the product to market. Just why is it that they need my help?’

I have heard that some of it goes to airports. As I said, I may be wrong. But if we are why am I having to help pay for some rich guy flying first class on a 777. I mean, I do have bills too.

I understand some of it is going into something called light transit. Their object is to get us our of cars and into mass transit. By the way, I have also heard it is used to help maintain the subways of New York. From what I understand, most of them don’t even buy gas. I guess that means they are not helping to build the federal highways.

As far as the rapid system, if they would use it to build roads, we wouldn’t need the rapid transit system. The problem with so called rapid transit systems is that they have no privacy, are frequently not on time and, of course, don’t run past 9pm. So. If I get off work at 10, I walk.

They do have one advantage. I don’t have to drive. If I should want to do my knitting on the way to work, no problem, as long as I can trust those three guys sitting next to me that look like they are each packing. In addition, they have been eyeing me to decide on if they want to relieve me of the task of carrying my wallet.

Now they are coming up with electric cars. It has created a quandary for them there FOCs. If they don’t get any gas tax from them, how are they going to continue with the airports and trains and such. They will have to get the money from somewhere.

Some suggest that we pay by the mile. Might I suggest that we do away with the gas tax first (fat chance). I suppose those of us who drive the gas guzzlers will just have to pay the road tax twice.

I guess that does make sense. I pay for my drinking water and Flint, Michigan too. I am going to pay for my internet and that of four or five others too.

I think you get the picture. This infrastructure bill they are passing is just another way for those FOCs to get their hands on my money supposedly doing all kinds of good. You lift up that carpet and look under it, it really serves two purposes. It is a way for them to get rich and another way to control our lives. They want us to take public transportation while they take private planes. And by the way, their private planes guzzle our hydrocarbons.

By the way, why don’t they take that so called virus expert, Fauci and send him down to the Mexican border and put him in charge of testing, treating and vaccinating. If he succeeded down there, he just might do something good, but I don’t hold out much hope. It would probably be better to just put him in prison where he belongs.

Feeding the Bird

One afternoon, I was mowing my yard. I had an electric mower and a 50 foot extension chord. It wasn’t my standard way of mowing my yard, but I was going forward then backing up over the same swatch. I found it a convenient way of managing my power chord.

After I had gone about a fourth of the way, I noticed a bird taking advantage of my pattern. Every time I backed up, the robin red breast went where I just mowed and reaped the benefits. As I approached the bird, he filtered a short distance away and waited until I gain retreated.

I don’t know if I was the first one to feed him that way, but he seemed quite at home about it. He hardly seemed afraid of me or the mower, other than to get out of the way as I approached him. He likely didn’t mind having to go on the run for the short time. Somehow he figured out that every time I went back, there would be food just waiting there for his taking.

I wanted to get a video of it. I knew I would have been able to make a fortune from it. Alas, I could think of no way to get my wife to come out and get the pictures. Had I yelled, it might scare him away. If I left, I suspect he would too.

So, until my yard was done, he enjoyed the meal and I enjoyed the show. It kind of made the work a little lighter.

Besides, I do enjoy feeding birds, even if it was a little unconventional, even if I never had the chance to record it.

It Is Now About Time

It has become obvious that China turned a deadly virus loose on the world and on the US specifically. Even if they did not mean to release the virus, they did turn it loose on us with the intention of doing harm. That falls under the category of biological warfare.

At the least three things need to be done. First, we need to present a bill charging the closest possible estimate of what they cost us. [It is impossible to put a value on the lives.] My guess is that the UN would be the best place to present it. We should also suggest that any other nation that thinks they have been wronged should also present a bill and attach it to ours.

Second, no plane should be permitted to go non-stop from anywhere inside China to anywhere in the US or its territories. Moreover, all passengers departing China should not be permitted to enter the US until two weeks after leaving China. This would be more than punitive but also preventative. The China virus was not the first virus to originate in China and it is not likely to be the last. Optionally, this could also be required for ships. Either way, their crews should be allowed to leave their ships while harbored here.

Third, and probably most important, all financial dealings with China should be terminated inside one year. We need to send a message, not only to China, but to all other nations that we will not do business with any nation that wages war on us, even if the weapons are too small to see, even with a microscope.

It is unlikely that China will pay the bill. However, for as long as they refuse, we need to maintain this decree. Governments that turn things like this loose on the world do not deserve to be treated with equality. Moreover, they killed millions for which we would not be extracting a charge, for which they should be thankful.

The Truth of the Proof

The state assemblies keep trying to find the proof of the fraud in the last election.

The FOBs keep trying to hide the proof.

The fate of the nation hangs in the balance.

AND, by the way, the media is doing all they can to help the FOBs. Not even Fox News says a thing about it anymore. Whenever the subject does come up, they quickly change it. So the truth suffers.

Regardless, there has been disobedience of the law, even to the point of admission, which very few pay attention to.

Then, of course, Fauci knows he is safe from prison as long as the AG is a FOC. If and when he is ever replaced by a republican, he just might want to by a ticket for China.

New Republicans??

The dems like to import democrat voters. Maybe we need to start importing republican voters. All we need to do is send a team down to Central America, train a bunch of them about the benefits of voting republican. Then, bring them north for half the going price.

I think we could pick up a few republican voters and maybe make some money too. I think it would work. It does have one problem with it.

We don’t do things like that. The dems do– without hesitation. I guess that says something about dems and republicans.

By the way, it would have one more problem. It would take the dems vary little time to figure out how to keep our immigrants south of the border.

Something to Cheer About

With all the deaths and disease as the result of people crossing the border; with all the drugs being smuggled across the border and killing our youth; with the bottoming out of salaries as the result of illegal aliens willing to work for pennies on the dime, you’d think the dems would have nothing to cheer about with the border but they do.

First, so you will understand, none of the above means a thing to them. Look a Cuomo. He killed thousands and he has never issued anything that resembles an apology. Do you really think he feels badly. Do you really think Biden cares a whit about children being left alone in the desert or being used and abused. It is all acceptable collateral damage toward the goals of the dems- total control.

So when Biden sees those people flow over the border, he cheers, though he will not do it openly, He hides his glee within himself and just a few of his cohorts. You see the way he looks at it, every person that crosses the border is a potential vote for the FOCs and he knows it. To him, the rest matters not. It is the potential votes he cheers for. The people don’t matter. If he were convinced that they would vote republican, he would close the border tomorrow and he would be there in person to help to finish the wall.

As for those who are still en route, as for the little stranded children, he would turn them all south and tell them they are on the their own now.

Landing a 747

I have likely seen every episode of Myth-busters. I have learned likely a few dozen useless things in the show. On the other hand, there are a few of the shows I disagree with, the air-conditioned car vs four windows down for instance. In the show, they ran the car with the air-conditioning full on. I do not run my car with the air on full for more than a few minutes. Once the car is cool, I run it about 1/4, even in the the south’s 100 degree summer.

For those unaware of the show (What planet do you live on?) they try to prove/disprove myths. Well, actually, they are not all myths. Sometimes they are just sayings, like “Blow his socks off.” That one failed miserably. It is literally impossible to blow a person’s socks off.

That is all neither here nor there. I would like to zero in on one that I found particularly interesting, the landing of a 747. The reason I had such an interest is that I have tried it… on my Micro Soft Flight Simulator. Even after several attempts, my 747 ended up in a heap near the end of the runway.

At any rate, in the myth, they tried to prove/disprove the myth about a plane being landed by a person who is not a pilot, as in many movies where the crew is disabled. (Doris Day was in one of them… a 4 engine prop plane.)

For the episode, they decided on a 747. Well not a real one, but a simulator far better than mine. They used one that they use for training real pilots. At first, they did not do much better than me.

At this point, let me remind one and all just what all is involved in landing a modern jet liner. Most land at speeds of 150 mph, twice the legal speed of an interstate. It is critical that it remain lined up on a runway, while making the proper decent. Descend too steep and you will end up short of the runway. At some airports, that means — in the drink. Descend too slow and you’ll run off the end of the runway. There are real instances of both by real pilots. And by the way, it is also imperative that you maintain the right speed, lower the flaps and landing gear at the right time, and a few other trivial details like apply the reverse thrusters properly at the right time.

At first, the Myth Buster crew did not do much better than me. Then after some training, they did a decent job of it. Mind you this was on a simulator under ideal conditions.

Then, the fella what ran the simulator explained two things that about knocked my socks off. First, it never happened. On commercial airliners, the pilot or copilot has always been available to land the plane. Second, the 747 can land itself. Someone from the ground can tell someone in the air how to set it all up and the plane can come in on autopilot.

Now, I got to thinking about it the other day. I think there is an exception to that, in a way. President Trump had the whole country so that it could fly on autopilot for the next 4 years. When he turned the controls over to Biden, all he had to do was keep his hands off the controls. Maybe before he left The White House, President Trump should have instructed that Biden not be permitted to have any pens. It would appear that Biden has proved, over and over, that the pen is mightier than common sense instructions.

Ben’s Dream World

From time to time I have permitted myself to dream of selling a lot of books, maybe to the point I would have five million dollars in the bank. I am not greedy. Others have done far better. Unfortunately or me, my books do not sell that well. Some of my books I can’t give away.

Nonetheless, I do have two more in the works. Maybe one of them will become a best seller. On the other hand, maybe some movie producer will see how great “His Protector” would look on the big screen.

I figure if I could make 5 million, I’d have all the money I’d ever need. Then again, you and I know that is not going to happen, leastwise not until I get a good editor. Then too, a screenwriter would rewrite the book anyway.

Regardless, the little visit into my world of dreams caused me to think about another dreamworld. What if the federal government decided to fix all the poverty in our country. In one day, The Treasury Department cut a check to everyone over 18 years of age for 5 million dollars.

Now that would be a dream world. In one day, poverty would cease. Everyone would have all the money they needed and they’d never have to lift another finger. In straight simple math, we could all spend 50 thousand a year for 100 years. We would all be set for life. Right!

However, let us not overlook the obvious. That would mean everyone else would have all the money they need and they would not have to work. That poor old lady that works at that convenience store would walk off the job immediately, if not sooner. Hopefully, she would take the time to switch the gas pumps off and lock the doors.

Forget about going to the bowling alley. The place would be shut down. Why should the owner work his tail off when he already has all the money he needs.

Indeed, it is nightmare rather than a dream world. Those running the power stations would just shut things down and walk away. In an hour or two, the whole country would be plunged into the rock ages. We might have cars, but not gas. We might have homes, but nothing to heat them with. Indeed, we might even have problems finding candles.

We might have water for a while. I’m not sure about that. However, forget food. It has to be shipped in on trucks. Conceivably, it just might be the doomsday that the preppers have prepared for. However, I don’t even know how well they would be prepared for such a nightmare.

Most likely, some method of bartering would break out. I don’t know. It is sort of the way the people survive in so called communist countries. Then again, they might just declare martial law and control everything by the military.

Wait a minute. That won’t work. All those in the military would walk off the job too, with their millions.

Ironically, the ones it would hurt the most would be the billionaires. They might have their limos, but they’d not have any gas, or anyone to drive them. They might have their planes, but they’d not have any pilots. They might have their yachts but they’d have no one to crew them. They would have to do for themselves and they just might not know how.

Capitalism might be a horrible monetary system, but it does work. Communism, though it is a dreamworld, does not work nor has it ever. People will not work unless they have a reason to. Capitalism provides the motive while communism will not work without the whip.

To be sure, communism does look attractive. Then again, my dreamworld looks even better at first glance.

All You Have to Do Is….

Yesterday afternoon, I stopped by a fried chicken place. I’m not going to use names but it was a well known place. It had advertised that the dinning room was open but I guess, for one reason or the other, they closed it again. There was an employee there and she told me, “You have to drive around.”

I know it is a terminology, but it is one that rubs me the wrong way. Had it not been for the recent problems with the China virus and I do realize it has caused problems, I would have replied, “No, ma’am. I do not have to drive around. I do have the option of going somewhere else or I can go home and make my own dinner.”

It did remind me of a young man I was talking to on a phone. It was back in the days when most people had land lines. I don’t remember what it was but I was trying to buy something. Maybe it was a pizza. It doesn’t matter. He hit my hot button and told me, “All you have to do is….” I don’t remember the rest. It doesn’t matter. I simply told him, “No. I don’t have to do anything.” I was very emphatic and he apparently realized his mistake as he started trying to explain. He didn’t get very far.

Recently, I tried to get a plumber to come out to my house. The woman I was talking to tried to get me to sign up for one of those yearly contracts. I explicitly told her I was not interested and please send out a plumber. She continued and I warned her, “If you continue at this I will hang up.” She did; so, I did. To this day I wonder if the owner realized she cost him a regular customer. I have not gone back to him since.

I am not a business owner nor do I have a degree in business. For that matter, I do not have a degree. However, I have worked in businesses before and I always know better than to tell a customer, “All you have….” It is basic business 101, and all business owners need to tell their employees.

Unlike those of us who have to go to get a driver’s license every couple of few years, most customers are not required to do business with a certain company. Occasionally, things like that do happen, especially in the old days when there was just one store in town and the next one was a two or three days ride away. However, in the case of the chicken place, there were five restaurants around in walking distance. We did not have to go through the drive through and we didn’t.

I know what the woman meant. I know she knew I did not really HAVE to go through the drive through. Still such things irk me. As I say, they push my button. I am a potential customer. I am not in any way captive to their business. More than that, I hate drive throughs, especially after the China virus. For quite a while, I could not find anyplace where I could sit down and eat. (Makes me all the more angry at Fauci. Why isn’t that no good character in prison?) Besides, believe it or not, when I go through a drive through, it generally takes much longer and I burn up a quarter tank of gas waiting.

More than that, people that own businesses should know to tell their employees about things like that. There is far too much competition out there, and some of them don’t require to drive through. Things may yet change but there are many places that now have open dining rooms and the are doing a thriving business.

As for the business that tried to sign me up for the contract. I’m not worried about them. They obviously have more business than they can handle anyway. They clearly did not have time for me.

You’d Think it Would Be Obvious!

They keep telling us to get the shots and put the masks on. The reason they give is because the number of cases are going up. Did any of those FOCs take a look at those coming over the border. 8 % of them have the China virus, maybe more. So they concentrate on the small leak in the dam while they ignore what is spilling over the top.

If not one person in the country had the virus, those that are infected would swarm over the border. For a man who wanted to stop the virus, this new president ain’t to smart. He is ignoring the obvious. On the other hand, does he even have anything to do with it? Does he even have any idea what he has done? I mean, it would be obvious to anyone with normal intelligence.
