Daily Writing Prompt

If you won two free plane tickets, where would you go?

This one’s easy. I’d love to spend a couple of weeks in Israel. Maybe even more. I mean, it’s where Christianity began. To be sure, even before the birth of Christ. It is where God established his chosen people. It is where David was born and became king of Israel.

It is, of course, the birth place of Jesus. However, there was a lot of history there. I’m not one that would want to worship the place. However, I do believe it would enhance my understanding of the Bible to see the locations and know where they are in relation to other places.

I am realistic, though. On Social Security, I don’t think that will happen. I will have to settle for maps and descriptions. Well, then again, I might go… if my books start selling by the millions.

Don’t laugh too hard. It is more probable than me being able to go to Israel without selling the books. I don’t think anyone is going to purchase the tickets for me.

It’s the Old Flim Flam

You ever think you’ve won one of those battles with the libs and found out you lost? Well, it looks like it’s happened again. And we had our eyes wide open. I suspect most don’t even realize it. On the other hand, others don’t care.

If the libs had suggested that we move our policing to be more centralized, it would not have happened. It is one of the strong points of our nation. In theory, the feds don’t get involved in most of the law enforcement. Indeed, even murder is considered a state law. On the other hand, the libs would like to make it against a federal law just to own a gun.

Then one day, their armies started shouting, “De-fund the police!” Now that’s dumb and most of us saw right through that, or at least we thought so.

At any rate, it did not take long to realize that didn’t work out so well. Overnight, the streets were filled with crime and the local police simply couldn’t keep up. Hence, they asked for help from the state and feds.

After a few weeks, it was clear this idea of less police was a big failure. So, the libs, supposedly, admitted their mistake and suggested that congress help fund the local police.

Now wait a minute. That was the idea of the libs in the first place. To put more control of policing in the hands of the feds. If the feds provide the funding, then they control it, all of it. It is not just the part they fund that they control but all of it. I am sure there are strings that come with that federal money. There always is.

Hence, we just moved one step closer to a totally central police. In other words, we just been flim flamed. I don’t think I like that but it would seem I am now doing all I can, not much. The best thing we can do is return the federal money and pay for the police locally. I don’t think that will happen. We will become dependent on the law enforcement money just as we have become dependent on federal education funding.

At 72, there is one thing I’ve learned. Cities, counties and states rarely give back funding, even if it means giving up some freedom.

What Is Life Worth?

From time to time, I make references to my books. Why not? I’m allowed to. Besides, all those who are well known do it. They use whatever platform they have to encourage people to buy books. Why shouldn’t I?

This book is somewhat different. I didn’t and still don’t feel as if I should write it. The subject, the concept was so important to me that I tried to get others to write it. I do not feel as if I did properly impress on society the importance involved. I’m just not that good with words.

At any rate, the name of the book is, “Project Age.” Hopefully, without giving away too much of the plot, there is a portion in which Congress finds out that project age is about a chemical which slows the aging process significantly.

Which brings me to my point. Just how much would such a product be worth? How much would people be willing to pay for it? Let’s get a little personal. How much would you be willing to pay for it? I suspect that some would pay thousands of dollars for a monthly supply. I am sure that there are those willing to pay tens of thousands for a weekly supply. I don’t know. I suppose there are those willing to pay millions to live just a few more days.

Then, there is another question. If the chemical is scarce, why should you get it instead of the guys that haul our garbage off? Is the life of a congressman worth more than a teacher’s? The fact remains, I am sure that every member of congress, senators and representatives, would make sure they got their supply. I mean, we all know their lives are very important. Besides, they would have the power to get the stuff, even if their lives were worth nothing.

Sorry. That’s just the way it works in our society. Actually, it’s the way it works in all civilizations. Those on the throne get the benefits. The rest of us simply get the the left overs.

Contrary to what honest Abe said, we now have a government by lawyers, of the lawyers and for the lawyers. They write the laws, they pass the laws and they benefit from the laws. If you don’t believe me, try passing a law for term limits. Not going to happen. Does not benefit the lawyers who hold office or the mass of the staffs.

Going back to project age, to be sure, the lawyers would likely benefit the most from the chemical. The lawyers would pass laws that would see to it. I have a word for any representative who would say otherwise, liar. Indeed, those who would not admit it would be the first to come up with a reason that they should be first in line, even if there were but ten doses. Then again, it is how it works. Aren’t they and their families the first to benefit. Aren’t they the first to be allowed the exception. Case in point, it is not against the law for them to take advantage of insider trading. (Remember, the laws are for the lawyers. Remember, they did not have to take part in Obama care. They have their own system. Unlike Obama care, it’s a good one. It works.)

Sorry. Got a little off my intended subject. That is, just what is your life worth. What would you be willing to pay to have your life go on another year, a month, a week, a day. If there were some fantastic elixir, what would you be willing pay for it?

I ask this question to maybe make you think. Let’s face it. There are legitimate reasons to want to live a little longer. I have seen my grandchildren. It might be nice to see their children, if only for a few days. Perhaps you’re working on an important scientific project and you’d like to see it though to it’s completion. If I asked a thousand people for a reason to live just a little longer, most would come up with something pretty good. Some, maybe not.

Now let me toss another question at you. How would you like to live forever, and it wouldn’t cost you a thing? I guess, most would jump at the chance, but few do. Jesus only ask that you be willing to accept him as your savior. Most, foolishly turn him away. They are unwilling to let him pay the price for your salvation. Either that or they say they are good enough on their own.

Most, foolishly turn down the best offer they have ever had, for a number of reasons. By their own choice they reject Jesus and they will lose their chance at eternal life and will face eternal death instead.

You see, to God, you are worth a great deal. It is why He sent His Son to die for you. It is why He wants you to take the chance, before it is too late. You see, God does respect your right to chose. He will not force you to take his offer. He will try to talk you into it, but he won’t make you take it. That is up to you.

Just seems odd to me. A person is willing to pay a fortune for life, but most are unwilling to take it as a gift.

People with power like to take things from others. God, has the ultimate power. He likes to give. He wants to give everyone eternal life. Oddly, most reject the gift. Tell me how that makes sense.

Old Joe Said He’d not Pardon his Son

I have a theory I have espoused a few times. I highly suspect that Hunter has said, “Pops, If I go to prison, then you do too.” Hunter might not have a brain that goes to the top floor but I’d guess he is wise enough that if anything happens to him, certain info will come out. I suspect it would spell the downfall, not of of Old Joe, but many of those in his friends and puppeteers as well.

I suspect the instant some one hints that Hunter will serve a day in jail, we will find out what it is that Hunter knows. I am sure Old Joe’s friends know that as well. Even if Old Joe doesn’t pardon his son, Joe’s friends will keep him from ever spending a day in the slammer. (and Old Joe does have his friends in high places)

For those who are unaware, it is called self-preservation and the dems practice it every minute of every day.

Even Worse Than a Mistake

I hate making mistakes. Yet, I make them all the time. I go behind myself repeatedly in hopes of catching them all. However, I still let them get by, unfortunately, regularly.

There is one thing worse than making a mistake. As I say, I spend a lot of time proofreading. Sometimes I think I made a mistake and I correct it. Only to realize I was right to begin with. It is, of course, worse than the mistake.

It would sure be nice to be perfect. To be sure, there are those who except nothing less than perfection. Obviously, they will not be satisfied with me. It used to really bother me. Not so much anymore. I do the best I can. Somehow I think I get my point across. That is good enough for me. If you really want to pick at the details, that’s your problem. Because of details, you miss the point. Sometimes, that point is important.

Then again, missing the point might be your desire.

Deflection is Admission

Old Joe is in affect admitting Hunter is guilty. When he says, whatever he did I had nothing to do with it he is saying he does not want to be associated with it. It is the classic, “I know nothing,” defense. If what Hunter did was good and legal, Old Joe would not need a deflection defense. On the other hand, every time his press secretary is asked, it is the defense that is deployed. Indeed, it is the defense used now for years, even while he was still vice president.

If his son did nothing wrong, why should Old Joe want to keep him at arm’s distance, and perhaps a bit more. I submit that Hunter did do something wrong, and Old Joe knows it. He is doing all he can to distance himself from his son for as long as he can. He knows in the end, they will both be found out. It just is that it would be better next next week, or next year. Certainly not now. Certainly not before the elections. Too much money at stake. Too much power at stake.

Besides, if he can get away with it until after the election; if he can win the presidency one more time, it won’t matter. He will have secured his position as dictator and no one will accuse him of anything. It will be the time for his minions to solidify their position by eliminating the opposition by any means necessary. In some cases quietly in courtrooms. In some cases, violently in the streets.

Not Quite so Fast, Hunter

Not quite so fast, Hunter. It’s not over yet. I suspect he wasn’t the only one who swallowed hard when they found out what happened. Indeed, there are meetings being held among the dems today, tonight and probably tomorrow. Looks like maybe they need a new strategy.

Remember now. As I said, Hunter likely has the pressure on Old Joe. My best guess is that he told dear old dad that if he was going to jail then so was he. Even so, I suspect Old Joe ain’t sweaten it. I mean, before he starts sweating it, someone is going to have to explain it so he understands it.

Still, those puppeteers are likely sweating a little. Someone just might figure out what they are doing and they know they just might get in trouble for it.

Actually, they have nothing to worry about. Dems can get away with anything. I used to think that was not true until I saw what all the Clintons got away with. I just shook my head and said, they broke the justice system and I don’t know as it will ever get fixed.

On the other hand, you just have to know that Kamala is salivating a little, maybe a lot.

The Odds

I’m not a big fan of math. It just is that when a person plans to go into a career as electronics, it is essential. I mean ohm’s law, the calculations of impedance and such all uses math. It even gets into calculus a little when dealing with vectors and such.

However, math is used in a wide range of other things. Certainly, it is used in physics and chemistry. When packing the aircraft during the Berlin air lift, they even came up with a new math, to make sure all aircraft were loaded to the max both weight and space.

One branch of math that is not talked about too much are the laws of probability. Some of this stuff can make an insane man normal. For instance, you toss a penny 100 times and the laws of probability tells us that it will likely land on tails and heads equally, or at least nearly equally. Of course, the more times you toss the penny, the more apt that the heads and tails will be equal.

Yet, those who specialize in studying odds tell us that, even should we end with tails 80 out of a hundred times, the chances of it coming up heads is still 50%. (either that or there’s something wrong with the penny)

Then there is a special branch of odds within math. These mathematicians try to know the odds are that you will live to a certain age. I’m not sure, but I think most of them work for the insurance company.

Just so you don’t get the wrong idea, I am not an expert in this field. However, I do have a broad idea about it all. For instance, the odds of me living past 72 are pretty small. Some die earlier. Some manage to beat the odds and live past a hundred.

Oddly, so far I have beat those odds. I spent one year in a war zone. I rode a motorcycle for over two years. Believe it or not, for a large part of my life, no one wore seat belts. The first couple of cars I owned didn’t even have them. Then, for quite a while after, we still didn’t wear them.

I don’t know how I made it through those years, but I did. On the other side of the coin, something could happen and I’d be gone tomorrow. When I was in the Marines, I saw a twenty year old marine die as he was walking along. The doc said he was dead before he hit the ground. Now, you talk about being against the odds. That shouldn’t have happened. I really wished it hadn’t

At any rate, things like that have a tendency to tip the mortality tables a little. On the other hand, something else that will tip the mortality tables is playing with guns. I saw that too. The guy was playing quick draw with a .38. For those unaware, it is a worse practice than going without seat belts.

I bought the new all electric car. All the mortality charts likely say I won’t live the seven years to pay the car off. If I do, I’ll be eighty and I might not be able to drive it. As a financially responsible, person, I need to make sure the car will be paid for should I die. I’m sort of in that boat now. On the other hand, maybe I ought to go back to work.

Actually, I would enjoy working three days a work. Unfortunately, I might not be able to. I don’t know if anyone will hire an old man to flip hamburgers or mop floors. It would be better if people would help me out by buying my books. (hint, hint)

This side of seventy, I’ve sort of been doing some thinking, as dangerous as that may sound. Those people who study the mortality really have their hands full. When a person is born, they calculate just what his chances are of reaching my age. Not only that, they try to determine the cause of death. Will it be disease, accident, murder, or maybe peanuts. No way of knowing but they still guess. Every year they release figures that tell you what what your chances are of dying of a shark attack. Then, of course we stop eating red meat or drinking things with artificial sweeteners. We stay of the ocean and we make sure to fasten the seat belts. Then of course, people start dying from obesity and lack of protein. We start going blind and losing limbs because of diabetes.

Fact is that we, none of us, can avoid death. We can avoid too much meat, we can avoid artificial sweeteners we can avoid smoking and smokers with extreme care. Moreover, some might wear helmets in their cars, or maybe not ride in cars at all. In order to avoid the cars we will use the safer plane, even if we just need to go ten miles.

Naturally, each form of death can be further broken down. For instance, illness takes in cancer, heart disease, neurological problems, and on and on. Then cancer can be broken down further into I have no idea how many. Two of my four brothers died of brain cancer. Every doctor I ever talked to has said that is very rare. I’ll just have to take their word for it as I don’t know. I did see them just before they died and I saw it was a horrible way to die.

Then, of course there are the overdoses of drugs. I just can’t figure that one out. Unlike cancer, it is totally preventable. I hear a few politicians say a few things here and there. The only one I saw that really did something was President Trump. Then of course, the dems did something about that. Now the problem is worse than before. I wonder what those people that study odds and mortality have to say about that. The government spent untold fortunes curing AIDS. Who is trying to solve the problem of drug abuse?

Then there are the murders. Most murders don’t have anything to do with guns. The dems are trying to get rid of the guns and they are letting the other murderers out on in the streets minutes after the murder. I don’t understand that. I wonder if those that study odds have something to say about it.

I’m still trying to figure out how the dems can cry out against the guns when they themselves are the authors of millions of deaths, in Ukraine, Afghanistan and Iraq. Then too, what about the disaster we call the pandemic. Could have been totally avoided if China was not financed by the dems and specifically Fauci. How many deaths were caused in this country by guns? Look it up. How many have died from the China virus. I suspect that far more were killed by Fauci and his dem friends than all the guns.

No Such Thing

After all the confusion of trying to find a charging station or the proper equipment for conversion, I thought I came up with the perfect solution. No such thing. I was going to suggest a standard 220 volt outlet on all charge stations. That won’t work. I came to that solution after googling standard 220 volt outlet. No such thing, or that is to say there are about a dozen of them at least.

I suppose we could require the charging station to have all of them. However, that doesn’t sound so great. As I said, no such thing.

Sam’s Club EV Charge Station

The one on Goodman road in Southaven reported on the internet, it’s not there. I searched the area. I asked the employees. They knew not of what I was speaking. I tried to contact them on the Web and let them know of the error. Not going to happen. Those CEOs don’t like hearing from us little guys.

So. You might just pass it on. Also, should you know the CEO, you might mention some to him too.

From what I gather, they do intend to have a station at all Sam’s clubs and Walmart stores. None around here…not yet. That going green outfit, maybe needs to talk to the board of Walmart, I guess. I mean, if they are going to do it, they need to do it before someone else beats them to it.
