Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI)

Since I bought my Nissan Ariya, I have been very pleased with it mostly other than trying to find a place to charge it. I could not understand that. I mean, if we are going to have all those ‘wonderful’ EV cars on the road by 2030, how are we going charge them without charging stations.

Even if we have chargers at home, there will have to have chargers for travelers. To be sure the Dems did pass a bill to have millions of chargers all over the country and we have, what? 47 new chargers from it.

Well, now that the curtains have been pushed aside and the failures of Old Joe are really coming to light. It would seem that government regulations have gotten in the way. What regs am I talking about. Look it up. In the law that sets aside the money for billions for the chargers also has DEI regulations. That’s right. Those that are going to get the grants must prove hiring practices that adhere to the regs. You want to set up some charger stations, you’re going to have to foot the bill yourself or be ready to fill out a bunch of paperwork proving that you adhere to hiring practices made by the Dems. It would appear that their own absurd regulations are acting like the shoestrings for them to trip over.

So that is why a Dem green law involving billions of dollars has fallen flat. My guess… it will take a businessman like Trump to make it work. He would likely pull all the dumb regulations out of the bill, that is, if the Dems will permit it.

Then maybe, I will be able to charge my Nissan Ariya while on the road. That is maybe. Just goes to show, the Dems can’t even do Going Green well.

Unique Idea

For years, I have been writing posts suggesting that a good way to cut back on crime is to keep the criminals in prison.

Surprise. I just heard an official in Memphis suggest the same thing when he was addressing a problem with repeat offenders. Maybe he is a little slow on the uptake, but he just might have finally figured it out.

Now, he needs to spread the word to all the other cities. Rare as the idea is, it is a proven method.

Of course, it does have a downside for me. If the crime rate in Memphis goes down, it might not help my property values as much.

Save Us From the Experts

We all know the definition of the expert: someone who knows a whole lot about very little.

Throughout the pandemic, we were being given advice and direction by people who were called experts. Throughout the epidemic of AIDS we got advice and direction from the experts. In both cases, in every step along the way, they were wrong. Millions of lives were lost in both cases directly and indirectly as a result of following their guidance. In both cases, they are batting a thousand at being 100% wrong. They not only caused the death of millions but also about destroyed our economic system and our education system.

Now, with the bird flue, do we really want to follow their guidance again. Do we really want to put our lives in their hands. As for me, I don’t think so. It would appear to me that the experts are more dangerous than the diseases.

I Remember Well

They say don’t speak badly of the dead. Well, let’s see. The Dems speak badly of Jefferson, Washington, Gen. Lee, and a dozen others. They have destroyed statues that were made in their memory. If they can speak badly of those men, why can’t I speak badly of some, why can’t I?

Since Jimmy Carter died, I have heard over and over the good the man did, though even they admit they have to search high and low. Well, it did remind me of all what I remember. First, I was in the Marines when he became president. Most of us Marines had a saying. The marine emblem had been changed to just a globe and anchor. Carter was messing things up so much even the eagle was getting out. And, by the way, a lot of marines decided to get out because of the new Commander in Chief. I spoke to many of them. I can’t say specifically of any one thing but rather the whole atmosphere was changing when we got a Naval Chief of Operations with a name of Admiral Elmo Zumwalt. (and his actions matched his name. a real flower child of the age grown up)

Second, because of Carter’s weakness, Iran was turned over to a terrorist. We are still paying for that one. Remember the current efforts of Iran to build atom bombs. Remember, when we left Iraq, Iran took over and killed millions. (Obama had his part in that one.) Remember, when the new Iran regime took over, they also took over our embassy and took the staff hostage. Remember, after a great deal of planning and practicing, he arranged a hostage rescue attempt that was an embarrassment to him and the armed services of the US. Maybe he should have just arranged for the Israelis to do it and pay them.

Better yet, he could have just threatened to turn Israel loose on them. We would have had the hostages back in about 3 or 4 days.

Remember when he turned over the canal to Panama. Now that was dumb. When he started to do that, I remember thinking about it. That in itself was enough to activate the 26th amendment. It was crazy nuts. We spent a lot of money putting that canal in. We spent a lot of sweat putting that canal in there. We lost a lot of lives putting that canal in. And then President Carter hands it over and says, “Here you go. Here’s you a nice big present and it isn’t even Christmas.” And guess what? Now China controls it. Then to, it shouldn’t surprise anyone. The Dems care little or nothing about it.

Many speak of all he has done since his presidency. Okay. He built a lot of houses. That is nice. On the other hand, he has been very active in keeping abortion legal, frequent and at any time until birth. He claimed to be a Christian. I don’t know. God tells us not to be judgmental. If he was saved, my guess is that his ears will be burning for a while, considering the encouragement of the killing of the unborn. (Yep, if he is saved, he will still go to heaven, but he will have a lot of explaining to do.)

Well, truthfully, I will have some explaining to do too. But, at least it won’t involve the killing of millions of babies. The Dems like to point out all the Jews Hitler killed. And then they care not that the Dems have killed millions of babies.

If we want to put that on a set of scales, put the babies on one side, the houses on the other…. Do the houses really offset the lives of the babies.

However; as bad as he was, the Dems right now are far worse. I guess we can say that much for him, anyway.

How Much Money is Enough?

I guess one of the most repeated statements made by most of us is, “If I just had just …………. more dollars, I’d be able to…” Naturally, the amount varies as well as the goal.

It is one of the reasons the capitalist system works. We are always striving for that slightly bigger paycheck, or slightly bigger contract. It is why we work our fingers to the bones and a little bit more.

There was a famous person, can’t remember who, that said, “I don’t need much money. Just enough to pay for everything I need and everything I want.”

I guess one of my older brothers fit that after 65. He retired from the Army, a southern California school system and a big air conditioning company. He was drawing 3 retirement checks. He told me he wasn’t a millionaire but he almost lived like one.

He owed no one. When he wanted something, he just bought it. He didn’t buy any luxury cars or anything like that, but mostly he bought what he wanted. It does kind of describes the the desire of the guy above.

Nonetheless, I think most of us have that one thing we want that seems always just a little beyond their reach. Me, I always wanted a motor home. I just almost bought one one time. I could have but I think I would have regretted it. I wouldn’t have much left over for buying groceries.

Still, every now and then I regret that I didn’t do it. I mean, I have always enjoyed traveling. I was retired and had no bills.

I guess in my case, I would say, “It would have been nice to have about 50 grand to buy the RV and a few of the other incidentals. Maybe it would have been nice if it was 60 grand. That would have been enough for fuel for a year or so.

My wife used to like traveling too. Not so much anymore. I’m afraid we won’t be going much of anywhere now. Not unless we win the lottery, and as I have said before, that’s not going to happen, not even if I started buying the tickets. And I don’t plan on wasting my money on the tickets.

Most of those lotteries are state run and they already have gotten enough from me.

On the other hand, I suspect there are others folks out there that would have settled for less. Some, I’m afraid, would not have settled for a million more. It is sort of human nature. It seems we always want a little more.

How About Old Fashioned Sunlight

I keep seeing these commercials where people put domes on their heads with LEDs in them. I understand the logic but, even though I am 77, I still don’t need them. I guess I am fortunate that way.

However, I am really not that vain. Even though I have lost some hair, I am not that concerned. I would not get that upset if I lost it all.

However, I do understand. Some fellas start losing significant amounts of hair before their 40th birthday. Now that’s not fair. It does add years to your appearance. That can be verified with a wig in a few minutes. (with a mirror)

However, even if I was to lose my hair, even if I did want to try to get it back, even if I believed that those LED things worked, I think I would use another method.

You see, you take one of those LED things out in the full sunlight and turn it on and look at it, you probably would not be able to see if it is on or off. The intensity of the sun is so great that you can’t see the little bit of light coming from the LED’s.

So this is my idea. I would pull out all the LEDs, put holes where they were and let the sunlight through. If a little light is good, maybe a whole lot of light would be better.

However, why not go whole hog. Just forget the little dome lid, save some money and just go outside and expose my noggin to the solar system’s greatest source of light. If the little LEDs would work, the sun ought to really work, maybe overnight, or should I say, over day.

Who Cares?

If I may, I would like to subtitle this Ignorance and Apathy.

Eons ago, a little exaggerated, I asked a programmer if he could teach me a little bit about Algol, a high level, structured programing language. He became thoughtful. He said that it would be difficult to do that. He said that in order to learn one part of the language, I would have to learn another part first. In order to understand that part, I would have to learn the other part first. It seems, in order to learn it, I would have to learn it all at once.

Since that day, I have been trained and I am very proficient at it. As I look back over what the programmer said, he was right. If I were to teach the language, I would have to teach it kind of all at once. I sort of guess that is why not too many people use Algol for programming. On the other hand, it is a very powerful language. I have heard that some people can almost write the whole body of the program in one line. Well, I must admit I am not that good but I can see how others could.

So. Here I am, I’ve written two big paragraphs and neither is about my subject matter. The reason is this. The subject is somewhat like Algol. I am having difficulty knowing where to start. There are 3 different places I need to start first. In order for me to start at point 1, I need to say some things about 2 and 3. In order to start at point 3, I need to say some things about 1 and 2. The word ‘conundrum’ does come to mind.

Let’s start with what you know, the little story where the old professor tells one of his students, “The problem with this world is that the youth is ignorant and apathetic.”

The young student shrugs and replies, “I don’t know and I don’t care.”

Okay. Ha, ha. Funny. I suspect you’ve heard it before. I’ve heard it a few times too. I do hope you liked it if it was the first time you heard it.

As with most of us conservatives, I have been trying to categorize democrats. I don’t know. It would seem that most fall into one of three categories. 1] The ignorant. 2] The Apathetic. 3] Both.

There are those that believed Old Joe was not feeble. There are those who didn’t care. Then there were those that didn’t know and didn’t care.

I suppose my categorizations might not be totally right. There might be those who might say, “Who cares?” There are those who do take that attitude, you know.

You look at the border. Some see the the rush of aliens across and don’t care. Some don’t believe there is a danger from the aliens. Some are completely oblivious to all the danger it causes.

This is of course, in spite of all the rapes and human trafficking that is going on. This in spite of the abuse of children that is happening. They turn their heads and pretend they know not of it.

When Old Joe gave the order begin the retreat in Afghanistan, some didn’t care about the deaths that resulted and the deserting of American citizens and friends left behind to fend for themselves.

We know that our women’s rights group care about women, but in this case, they pulled their heads in like the proverbial turtle and kept their noisy yaps zipped. This of course resulted in the torture and death of women that we liberated, befriended and educated. You can make up your mind. Were they unaware or were they apathetic. Or, on the other hand, could it be because the leadership of the dems told them to hold their complaints.

The dems complain, very loudly I might say, that Trump is apathetic to the poor aliens that are just seeking a better life. In truth, they were the ones apathetic to those that were killed or raped on the way to the US. Was it that they were ignorant to the criminal elements making their fortunes off of the pain and suffering of the aliens.

Could it be that the dems are completely ignorant to the death from the drugs made by the Chinese and distributed by the cartels. or is that they just don’t care.

When Obama pulled our forces out of Iraq, over a million were killed. Most if those tortured and killed called themselves Christian. Then when the dems were told, they said, “I don’t care!” Well, I guess some said, “I don’t believe it,” even though it was in the news for days. Now, that is apathy.

Before they start complaining about Trump being apathetic, I think it is about time to take a good look at the deaths and suffering in their own history. It’s time they look around and see what they are doing. It is time for them to stop being drastically apathetic.

It is time for them to stop saying, “I don’t care.”

Not in the News

You can determine a lot of bias in the news, TV, Radio or printed by what is not being reported. My example which calls out loud to one and to all. A rare hurricane hit North Carolina and devastated the area. Huge sections of interstate 40 have been washed away. Power stations have been destroyed and people are living in tents. Yet, do you hear any news on it.

Naturally, if it were in California, as some disasters have occurred, or in New York… Yes it would be plastered all over the front page and it would be the leading stories on TV and radio. Indeed, the last hurricane to hit NY, NY carried front page news for weeks. Moreover, the government funds were rushed in there before the first 24 hours.

Recovery in the mountains of N. C. will take years. The support for the highways and bridges will have to be made before they actually start on the roadways and bridges. Just getting to these places is going to be a challenge. I would guess roads will have to be built to let the builders get to the sites.

I would guess that most of the power will be restored in most places in a month or two from now. I would suspect it will be longer to restore the houses. I mean these people did not build near the coast where they might expect a hurricane. They worst they are supposed to have is a snow storm or an occasional landslide from a rainstorm. Their insurance on the homes and businesses will likely not pay for much of it. I mean, who in N. C. would carry hurricane insurance.

The people in NY, NY built where they should expect storms, right on the coast. Moreover they did not need to deal with having to move megatons of dirt to rebuild the roads.

The people in NY, NY are pretty well back to normal thanks to moneys coming from Kansas and Oregon and the OK state. Pretty much from the rest of the country.

It is obvious why the news media pays so much attention to NY, NY instead of N. C. NY, NY is not only in their back yard, but they share common politics. I mean, do you suppose that the NY Times would have covered the Damage in NY, NY if it were a thousand miles away? Do you suppose they would have covered it if the area was solid red?

The proof is in the action. They spent a lot of news print on NY, NY and hardly a thing on N. C.

Well there is one other thing that might explain it. They might have had a problem getting the reporters into N. C. The reporters might have a problem phoning in the story. Also, they might have a problem finding a hotel room, or, for that matter a hotel.

Festinating Question

Never before given it any thought. Blue is my favorite color, especially royal blue. That would go good with silver, if possible. Yellow might not be the best color but it is bright, eye catching. It does kind of make a statement. But what to pair it with? With white it wouldn’t show up well. Not too keen on looking liking like a bunch of bees in black and yellow.

As for mascot, I would like the regal eagle but that has already been taken. How about raging wolves? I think I like that and I don’t think anyone has yet chosen it, though I might be wrong,.

Do you suppose they would let me get away with black and white stripes? Maybe not? Still I wonder if there is a rule against it.

Well, it is my dream world, right? I want Regal Eagles and red, white and blue. If anyone complains, too bad.

If you started a sports team, what would the colors and mascot be?

Tempting, Isn’t It?

The lottery is hanging around the billion dollar mark again. Well, the truth is you won’t get a billion dollars if you win, least wise not at once. If you take it at once, it will only be half a billion minus taxes.

Still, half a billion dollars minus taxes sounds irresistible. I wonder just how many are buy the tickets, maybe a dozen at once. The logic, of course, some one is going to win. Might as well be me.

Well, there is one other thing to consider. Two, three, or maybe four might hit it. Even so, a third or a quarter billion ain’t nothing to sneeze at.

It is true, money can’t solve all problems. However, I don’t know about you, but it could sure make a bunch of mine disappear. If I won, I wouldn’t turn it down.

But alas, it won’t be me. It won’t be me because I’ll not give those people running the lottery my hard earned money. I know someone will win; if not this time, the next time. However, I am also realistic enough to know that the dollars I would spend on a lottery ticker will never return to me. Not in part, certainly not in full.

Out of all the thousands that risk the bet, the vast number will lose. I happen to know, I won’t be among them.
