Why Can’t My Son Go to the 4 Grade

WRONG QUESTION!!

I was watching news last night and I heard a woman complaining, Why can’t my son go to the 4th grade?

I understand her grief. I understand her desires. My older son spent time in a California school. He also spent some time in a Memphis school. It is the primary reason we moved to Desoto County.

My advice to that woman or to anyone who has his child in Shelby County schools, get them out! just as fast as they can.

Many things can be done to improve the schools, but that would take time. You don’t have time. Besides, I don’t think they want to improve the schools. Their purpose is to take your money and gain power. Some teachers try, but, for them, they are swimming upstream. When they make the other teachers look bad, the union reps have words with them.

At this point, I’m not sure Desoto County schools are that good. I saw signs of degrading the last few years my sons were there, decades ago. Today, I would do what I could to keep my dependents out of any public schools completely.

Moreover, my advice to this and all parents in Shelby County is to ask the right questions. My question, above all, is why is it that OUR children can’t read. I emphasize OUR, because we aren’t talking 2 or 3, or 5 or 6. We are talking thousands. Shelby County schools are some of the worst performing in Tennessee and the US.

If it were individuals, we could say the child is the problem. The fact is, it isn’t the failure of the students I’m concerned with. It is the failure of the system, one which has money flooding in, and failure flowing out.

The long term solution, vote Republican. Get those dems out of there just as fast as you can. Fire teachers who can’t or won’t teach. Better to have 8th graders who can teach than a PhD who can’t.

Finally, minimize control by teachers unions. They have no business at all in the control of the schools, teaching methods or what is being taught.

One Way to Keep African-Americans Out of the Good Private Schools

Simple. Make sure they never get school vouchers.

Don’t get me wrong? I am in favor of vouchers. I want Black children to have the same benefits of the wealthy. However, the dems are steadfast against it. Their priorities are the government schools over all children.

There’s a horrid relationship between the teachers unions and the the government. The teachers unions provide financial support for the dems, both direct and in kind. The dems provide support for the teachers unions by fighting vouchers.

More, it is a way for the dems to control what your children are taught, or not. You’ll never find a teacher in a public school teaching Christian ideas.

The dems look at every child leaving public schools, regardless of ethnicities, as a loss of money and power.

Remember. If the public schools are so great, why do the wealthy send their children to private schools? Why is it that some take on 2nd jobs just to keep their children out of the influence government controlled education. If the private schools are not as good as public schools, how is it that so many of them are doing so well, in both enrollment and success.

Finally, if government run schools are so great, why are those running those schools so desperately afraid that they will lose so many of their students to private schools should vouchers be permitted, even for a percentage of the less fortunate.

Oddly I Had to Think About This One

I say oddly because it should have been really obvious. I spent 7 years doing it… teaching. If I didn’t have personal needs, you know. Shelter, food, clothing etc, I would teach without pay.

There is just something about seeing results. It is worth more than salary. Unfortunately, I would never be allowed to teach the complex stuff like is taught in public schools. I was limited to the more simple things like radar.

Nonetheless, I must admit, I did have a job for about 15 years just before I retired. Even more importantly, I worked for a good company and boss. Not many can say they enjoyed their twilight years at work as I did.

I was a computer operator. It was neat for me. While it was a little challenging, I was not a leader. I don’t like being a leader.

I had a difficult time figuring out what my dream job would be because it wasn’t my dream. It was for real. That made it all the better.

Grand Canyon

About 1984, my wife, 2 sons, and I went out to California to visit relatives, about 1800 miles. Being as we were going close by the Grand Canyon, we decided to drop in, figuratively.

The first thing I noticed was that, just south of the canyon land was being advertised…dirt cheap. A hundred dollars an acre. A while later, I discovered the reason was no water. Even the local McDonald’s had to haul water in.

I don’t know for sure what the prices are today, but I do wish I had figured a way to buy 10 acres. I would suspect the prices have gone up a bunch, even though there is not much demand for farmland without water.

At any rate, after a short stop at McDonald’s, we drove to an overlook. There, before us was one of the most majestic scenes and all 3, the wife and kids couldn’t be bothered with it. They wanted to watch the baby squirrels crawl fearlessly up and down the sheer cliff.

I guess they were fascinating but we have squirrels in Desoto County, bunches of them. So much for seeing the Grand Canyon. Better to go to the local park and watch the wild life. Incidentally, much less expensive.

Now, let’s see. Had I bought a few acres, I could have charged the passerbys to see squirrels. Do you suppose it would have worked. I suppose it still will.

Schools and Money

About twenty or so years ago, I had the occasion to be driving through the countryside of Pennsylvanian with a friend. We noticed a huge dome somewhat off the the road and we decided to check it out.

It is the first time either of us was exposed to the Milton Hershey School. They have an extensive exhibit there under the dome. It was founded by the man that started Hershey candies. For those unfamiliar with it, it would do you well to look it up on the web, thought a personal visit would be better.

Every year, hundreds, if not thousands of kids attend the school and they don’t pay one penny in tuition. To the contrary. The school provides food, clothing, and even toys for the students. They have some of the best, most driven teachers and the students frequently go on to good colleges and make very good grades.

As a side note, one thing I did pick up off the web is that the students are 30% Black. That more than doubles their makeup of the US population of 13%.

It is ironic, you can’t buy a better K-12 education anywhere in the world for any price and this kids go there for free.

Things might have changed since I saw the exhibit. However at the time, a child had to have three requirements to get in. They had to be missing at least one parent. They could not have any history of being a troublemaker. Finally, they had have a recommendation, such as clergy or other similar person. I’m sure, if push came to shove there was likely some leeway on the recommendation.

Well, there is one other limit. They could only accept so many students a year.

Now, why should I bring up this subject right now. Well, I heard that Bloomberg just sent 100 million dollars to Florida to help defeat President Trump. Now I word it that way on purpose. I doubt that he is really for Biden. He just does not want to see the president re-elected.

I have my suspicions why. I don’t really want to go into that here. I do want to suggest that he could find many better ways for him to spend his money. If President Trump wins the election, he just dumped 100 million down a big bottomless pit. It will do him no good, or anyone else for that matter.

Well, it will make some advertisers happy.

If Bidden wins, he will learn a little about experience. He will learn what it is like to put the controllers in office. Then, all his billions will do him little or no good. When the communists take over, the rich are their first targets. They will take his money and throw him in prison. They will do it for the good of the state.

Now on the other hand, he just might put some disadvantaged children, especially black children into good private schools. It would cost him about 8,000 per student and he would actually accomplish something with the money. He could put over 1000 kids completely through school which would lift them from poverty.

If he could could talk nine of his billionaire friends to each pony up one-hundred million, that would be 10 thousand kids. Not only would they get a far better education, but all the other kids would get a slightly better education. The money in the public schools wouldn’t need to be divided up as much.

But, alas, let us remember his goal. It is not the good of the kids but rather to destroy President Trump. It is certain that history will never compare him and Hershey on the same page, or for that matter, in the same chapter.

By the way. Bloomberg lives in New York. What is he doing in Florida politics. I know they do it all the time. It doesn’t make it right. I hate it when people come into Mississippi with their money and try to get me to vote the way they want me to vote. None of their business how we vote.

There is legal and there is right. The two are not necessarily the same.

Methods of Control, 1

I don’t know how many are aware of it, but during the days before the Civil War, teaching an African American how to read and write was against the law throughout the south.  When I was a young man, it was common knowledge.  The way they teach history these days, it might not be so well known.

The reason was quite simple.  If a man knows how to read and write, it is more difficult to control him.  To extend the concept, by controlling education they can control people.

It was also the way that the Catholic Church controlled most of the people of Europe.  From the time Rome fell until the invention of the printing press, those who ran the church claimed that it was wrong for the common man to read the Bible.  It was to be done only by the clergy and then they would teach the people.

After the printing press, common people started reading the Bible.  Almost immediately, the people discovered that there was no mention of purgatory in the Bible; it was made up.  Also, they realized it wasn’t the only lie of the Catholic leadership.

I could almost write a book on this subject, alone but that is not my purpose here.  The point is, those in the leadership of the church were intentionally leading the common people astray for power and gold.  Give us your money and we will pray your parents and grandparents out of purgatory.  It worked.  It didn’t help the relatives but it made the church rich.  If you doubt me, have a look at some of those cathedrals in Europe.

With this in mind, consider why the democrats refuse allow school choice.  It is their method limiting the education of the masses, especially the African-American populace.  The rich go to good schools while the rest make do with the public school system.

In spite of the fact that American schools are the most greatly financed, the students of those schools rate 20 in worldwide standings.

Let’s change things, especially for the Black populace.  Why not, for a few years anyway, pay to put 5% poor African-American students into private schools and look at the results.  Then again, maybe the democrats would not like to see the results.  It would expose the public schools for what they are, a method to maintain their control over the people, especially the African-Americans.
