A Good Word For McDonald’s

This morning, about 8:00 CT, I went into McDonald’s for breakfast. After paying for it, my food beat me to the table. That will teach me to pause long enough to get one of those numbers I was supposed to put on the table, which by the way, became pretty much useless.

I figure, when I have to wait, I do complain. I should put in a good word when the service is a little extra special. Also, the food was hot and good too.

Remembering

You Forgot to Remember

Some of you might not yet know that I have an interest in old songs.  Something happened that reminded me of an old song.  I had almost forgotten it, oddly, because the main line in the song is:

You promised to forget me not, but you forgot to remember.

The song was very popular and I have no idea who first recorded it.  Both Frank Sinatra and Dinah Shore had recordings and likely half a dozen more had successful recordings.

Its words do suggest a twist, so to speak.  Nonetheless, it has happened to me a few times.  I have promised to do something, only to forget to remember.  Then too, how about all the friends I used to know who have become faint memories.

Sometimes, I think about looking them up, but I can’t remember their last names.  I only called them by their first names.  Besides, at 72, I don’t remember so well and I had a bad memory for names in the first place.

I thought over the song and figured we have many reasons why we forget things.

First, memories fade.  To some degree, this is a good thing.  Many bad things happen to us and the memory fading does help us cope with them in the end.  Though, it does not always work that way.  My mother died when I was five and I remember every detail as if it were yesterday.  Oddly, it does cause me more grief today than then.  I won’t try to figure it out, other than it is something of a comfort to me too.

Second, memories that are handed down from one generation to the next are rarely incompletely passed along.  In the case of Israel, one generation would learn to obey the God.  Then the next generation would forget him and practice the exact things God told them not to.

Today, nations build statues and memorials.  Whenever I see a statue of someone, it reminds me of what the person did and just why I should remember him.  We also have memorials for WWII and Vietnam War.  Some of us remember.  Some don’t.  Some would prefer to forget the Vietnam War.  They consider it a dark part of our history.

Then again, I got to thinking of the Trade Towers.  It has been but 20 years and already people are forgetting.  They forget the way people jumped, knowing it was a choice of dying by fire or by the fall.  Most preferred the fall.  Each time a person hit the ground it made a distinct thud.

It is as I said, the memories do fade.  Then too it has been a generation.  The history teachers likely spend no more than a day or two about it.  The younger people don’t realize the full scale of what happened and the whys and wherefores.

Even for those who see the memorial, it does not set in the mind the way the actual experience does.  For those who don’t see the memorial, it is even easier to forget.

On the day of the event and for many days after, many promised to forget it not.  The problem is that they forgot to remember.

A few days ago we pulled out of Afghanistan.  Very few even know why we went in there.  Regardless, it was long ago.  Why should we be bothered with it today?

Let me tell you a little story and it just might suggest why we should remember.

In 1968 I graduated boot camp at MCRD San Diego.  Eventually, I was given orders to go to NAS Memphis.  On arrival at LAX, I checked my baggage and went straight back to the gate.  No one asked me for a ticket.  No one cared.  If I had wanted I could have gone to the gate without any need to travel.

You can’t do that today.  You have to show your boarding pass and ID to get to the gate, and by the way, you must also submit to a complete search.

Some say we have stopped terrorism, but we haven’t.  They have succeeded at their goal.  They have disrupted our way of living.  They have all but destroyed our way of life.

So now, my family cannot see me off or meet me at the gate and I can’t take my fingernail clippers along with me.

We need to remember.  We must not forget to remember.  If nothing else, maybe that extra line at the airport will help remind us each time we take a plane.

Where Are the Dimples?

I know that might sound like an odd question. Then again, I hope it grabs the attention of a few people. Nonetheless, it is a valid question. On an episode of Myth-busters, they went through a great deal of effort to prove a car is more efficient when the body has dimples all over it… like a golf ball.

There wasn’t much difference, but there was a measurable difference. I thought by now some engineer would pick up the idea and make cars with dimples. I know some research would be needed. The ideal size and quantity of dimples would need to be determined. Moreover, it might work better if the dimples were oval instead of round.

Then again, why stick to cars. Can you imagine how much fuel could be save with trucks. I figured some “going green” outfit would have noticed it and made a fortune off the idea already. For that matter, why aren’t the Myth-buster guys working on it. I mean there is a big world out there that really needs to be dimpled, like the sides of buildings to keep the wind resistance down as the wind goes blowing by them.

Someone in the yacht building industry should grab hold of the idea. Not only might it make the yachts more efficient but also faster. Speaking of making yachts faster, why doesn’t one or more of the America’s Cup teams take up the idea. One or two knots would make an enormous difference, or at least I would think so. Then again, it might be one of those visionary things. Does anyone want to be seen sailing a dimpled yacht.

I figure there must be a reason no one has done it. Am I the only one that saw the episode. Then again, maybe engineers don’t watch such things. I don’t know.

By the way, here’s one. A dimpled airplane. If it would save a barrel or two of fuel on each flight, that would really make the green people happy.

What about those Frisbees, you know, those flying disks? Maybe an old man like me might be able to throw one 5 or 6 feet farther. More than that, they just might fly straighter. Who knows until they try it?

By the way, I hear porpoises and seals develop wrinkles in there skin at high speed, which streamlines them. Maybe we need to discard the dimples and develop wrinkles instead. I mean, if we really need to save the fuel, if we really need to cut down on pollution don’t we need to check every possibility.

Can you imagine an Air Force One with wrinkles? Really? Maybe.

Suggested Solutions for the FOCs

As I turned on the TV today, I saw that the dems are in real trouble. Biden’s approval ratings have dropped to 43%. If the truth be told, it is more likely 35 or maybe 30%. Regardless, it will soon be down to 30% or lower. This means, come the midterm elections, Biden will act like a big boat anchor. Therefore, as a favor to the FOCs I have a few suggestions.

First, he could resign. I don’t think the dems would like that one. It would mean that the republicans would no longer be the only party to have a resignation in disgrace. Nonetheless, it would be fast and simple. Moreover, Biden could always try adding some kind of personal reason. He might even suggest it is for the good of the country, which would not be a lie.

Second, there are the direct ways, impeachment or 25th amendment. These are neither likely nor do they completely resolve the problem. It is sort of like getting something sticky on your fingers. It is a problem that is difficult to rid yourself of. Though you would get Biden out of office, there would be the horrible figurative stench he would leave behind, which would likely cost the FOCs a few points in the midterms. The biggest advantage of this method is that he can be removed from office even if he should refuse to resign.

Third, there is the heart attack or stroke idea. I don’t mean a real one. It would be a fake one. This would still involve the 25th amendment, but it resolves the whole smell thing. You simply notify the country that Biden has had a stoke and he will not be able to return to the office. Who knows, you might even get a few sympathy votes.

Finally, an extreme version of the above. Simply report that he has died of a heart attack and put him in the witness protection program. There would be a big funeral and everything. One hitch here is that Biden and his wife still warrant 24 hour a day Secret Service coverage.

Still something should be manageable. If the FOCs don’t arrange something before the presidential election, just how much of an embarrassment will ole Joe be by then?

(for those unaware, FOC stands for Friends of Criminals)

If I Were a Racist

If I were a racist there are a number of things I would do or not do.

For instance, I would do all I could to make sure that 3 out of 4 black babies were killed before they are born.

Oh!. Let’s see. The dems do that. It is called Planned Parenthood and 86% of their locations are in Black neighborhoods. Moreover three out of four of their abortions are performed on Black women. Moreover, no one dare try to talk any woman, black or white out of and abortion or they will have the law you before you can spell Oliver Wendel Holmes. Just FYI: Planned Parenthood was started by a racist, Margaret Sanger, who had hopes of eliminating the Black race in the US as well as a few other countries. Apparently, her dreams fit right in with the FOC.

For instance, if I were a racist, I would see to it that the Black children did not learn how to read and write.

There is nothing better at controlling a people than keeping them illiterate. The dems love to keep Black kids illiterate. The thought of letting them into private schools causes their blood to boil. If you don’t believe me, just mention school choice around someone in the National Education Association. They will blister your ears with reasons to keep kids out of private schools…especially the ones they have their children in.

For instance, if I were racist, I would want to keep Black people in the downtown area, the slums, the projects.

Now let’s see. President Trump did more to help the Black wager earner than any of the dem presidents. For this he was called racist by the dems. Moreover, he did more to help their education and decrease the crime… everywhere. Guess who that helps… the black neighborhoods, the slums and the projects.

For instance If I were a racist, I would encourage riots in urban areas, where many Black people live. This would help my effort in two ways. First, it would drive businesses out of the areas, many of which are owned by Black people. Second, it would make it far more difficult for those unable to leave the area. It also makes it difficult for the kids remaining to get good jobs.

Now let’s see. Do I really need to expand on this. Have we not all seen what has happened in the FOC run cities? Have we not seen the riots and fires? Does anyone realize what this does to real estate values. Think about it, really. The urban values go down and the suburban values go up. Let’s face it, everyone likes to have their home in a safe area. So the businesses shut down and those who can afford it move out of town to places the FOCs don’t control.

For instance, if I were a racist, I would want my schools to teach racism in schools, as the FOCs do.

So if you really think about it, while the FOCs are so quick to yell racist, they really ought to look in the mirror. It is also a pretty good indicator. If someone calls me a racist, it means they have nothing bad to say about me. They are simply using the attack of last resort. Anyone can call anyone a racist… this without an ounce of proof.

For you I have presented proof. The FOCs are the real racist. Truth be told, we all know it. Just is most are afraid to say it.

Rising Sea Levels

Some like to blame rising sea levels on global warming. The fact is, there are at least 6 reasons the sea is rising that have nothing to do with global warming. Consider there are roughly 3 tons of dust that comes to this planet from space daily. That is over 1000 tons a year. If it is evenly distributed, that is almost 800 tons that goes into the oceans yearly. You add to that the tons of silt that the river wash down from the land, that is a lot. Every particle displaces just a little water.

Considering the size of the oceans, that is not much, but I would suspect it is more than caused by global warming.

Crying & Yelling

According to spokesmen within the Biden administration, there are 200 – 300 Americans left in Afghanistan. As near as I can tell by news reports, there are at least 700. As far as anyone knows, it might be a thousand or more. If we had super-hearing, I am sure we would hear them all crying and yelling for help… while Biden celebrates the nearly perfect withdrawal.

I guess he is counting on none of us having super-hearing. He certainly would not want anyone to know. It would look bad on his resume. You notice Kamala is treating hims as if he is radio active. Even some of the FOCs are starting to put some distance between them and ole Joe.

Diplomacy

It would seem that Biden thinks he can bring back all of the American citizens in Afghanistan Let’s hope he succeeds before the Taliban starts using them for bargaining chips. The bad thing is, Joe has no bargaining chips.

Let me explain. If I should meet a man in a dark alley that is a foot taller than me who outweighs me by 50 pounds and knows Kung Fu, I might try diplomacy. I might try my powers of persuasion on the man. However, if I have a nine millimeter in the holster in the small of my back, my methods of diplomacy just might be simpler and more fruitful. More important, I just might be able to walk away from the incident.

The problem with Biden is that he does not seem to understand this method of diplomacy. He seems to think that if he says please, the will graciously concede. Maybe he figures if he gets down on his knees and pleads, they will turn all of them over.

To be sure, Biden does have many deadly weapons that he can use. The hitch is, now they do not believe he will use them until he uses them.

It is as I said in a previous post, the more the opponent fears you, the less likely it is that you will have to fight…the less likely it is that the enemy will suffer loss… the less likely Biden would lose one American life.

It is too late to try to bluff. Any bluff that Biden would try would likely be called, which means lives will likely be lost on both sides. It is why it was called a deterrent.

Let’s face it, it would do me little good for me to pull out the nine-milometer gun on my attacker if I won’t use it and my foe comes at me with flying hands and feet. To be sure, if President Eisenhower decided he would not respond to a nuclear attack, then all the missiles in all the world likely would not have stopped the Soviets from launching an attack and we would all be speaking Russian now, those of us that were left.

Biden Logic

An AR15 semi-automatic rifle in the hands of a law abiding citizen is a fearful thing.

On the other hand, M16 fully automatic rifles in the hands of terrorists are not big thing. Oh, and by the way, let’s make sure we throw in a few M-79 grenade launchers.

They say that the terrorists are in Afghanistan. They pose no threat to the US public. But just to make sure, he wants to leave the Mexican border open to let them in.

I suspect the Taliban are even having a hard time figuring that one out. None the less, I’m sure they have the desire to take advantage of it. If the do, Biden need not concern himself with whether or not to desire. Even the democrat house will impeach him and it won’t take long.

There is no since building up any hope. All those in line for the presidency are dems. I know. I looked it up… all the way to the 18th successor.
