Special Allowances

I can’t remember when I first heard it. “We won’t need any special allowances.” However they have and they do.

You ask to whom am I referring. Many know or have suspicions. Everyone should know.

As women complained that they were not getting equal pay. I, and others tried to explain, women always need allowances. They need more time off. They frequently quit when they marry. Some work requires strength, sometimes much more.

Now, just as anticipated, women need, what, 8 weeks paternity leave. Don’t try to tell me they carry their weight. I worked in a computer room with two women and there were two of us men. Guess who carried all the 40 lb boxes up two flights of stairs. I am sure the man already there was glad I hired on. His load instantly decreased by half.

It does make me wonder, though I never had the courage ask, what would they do if the 2 of us men had to leave. My best guess, they would find someone from another department.

Don’t get me wrong. I am the first one to yell, equal work, equal pay. Only, if women do less work, they should get reduced pay. The instant they demand special allowances, it is not equal work.

Of Course

Easter & Christmas

When I was in grade school, we had Easter & Christmas vacations. None of us had any doubt as to why we got out of school. Now, they try to conceal it. Now Easter is called spring break and may not even be at Easter. It’s another good reason to take our children out of the child indoctrination centers.

By the way, if your child goes to a public school where the name of Jesus may be mentioned, you are in the minority. However Santa Clause, Rudolph and the Easter Bunny are all for the most part permitted everywhere.

What is your favorite holiday? Why is it your favorite?

Carbine Williams

Look him up on the internet. David Marshall Williams, while incarcerated in a prison in North Carolina, designed, built and tested a rifle. He built it in the prison machine shop, while being carefully watched, of course. To be sure, he was a convicted killer.

It is very historic. The rifle went on to be one of our most used weapons in WWII, Korean War and at the beginning of Vietnam.

Now. Just what makes anyone think that outlawing ghost guns will have any affect whatsoever? Williams had very little training in guns. What would make anyone think that ghost guns can be stopped when there are thousands willing and able trained gunsmiths to make guns in their basements. Moreover, there are more than a few willing to pay a pretty penny to buy them too.

Also, with the open border, the gunsmith can make his guns somewhere outside American jurisdiction. Our laws will not be able to touch them in Cuba. Then they can just haul them over the border, individually or by the gross.

Here is one more point. Not one of them would have a serial number. Not one would be traceable.

I saw a sign once. “Littering prevented by law.” Sorry. Littering can be discouraged by law, but it can’t prevent it. I just saw the one sign. I guess most of us are more realistic.

Go ahead. Make your laws outlawing ghost guns. You won’t prevent them. It is too easy to build them and there will always be those wanting to buy them. Those who think they will put a stop to them are foolish.

By the way, I am not suggesting anything new. I am not that intelligent. I am sure many have thought of this long ago. They have been building guns for hundreds of years. In some cases, they were built by blacksmiths on a forge with not much more than a hammer. You’re not going to stop a trained machinist with a well equipped machine shop.

Let Us Settle It

They keep asking the ludicrous question, “What if the president orders….?” The assumption is that the military will obediently follow any order issues, which just is not true.

You see, the American military is radically different. After WWII, the German soldiers repeatedly used the excuse, “I was only following orders.” You see, the German soldiers of the day were obligated to follow orders regardless. American soldiers are only obligated to follow lawful orders.

If a senior officer orders a murder and the subordinate follows the order, he is just as guilty as the senior officer. Therefore, most senior officers won’t make unlawful orders. Indeed, it is highly ingrained in his training.

Provided the dems did not mess with this discipline, generals and admirals will not follow unlawful orders. A president would be foolish to try it. Very likely, it would quickly become public.

Secure Vote

Prior to the chad fiasco, Desoto County, MS used the punch system & it seemed reasonable to me. Since then, the came up with what looks to me as an ultra-secure. It looks so secure that I wish they would use it throughout the US.

Before I explain it, let me interrupt myself just a little. A perfect system won’t work without A. a good accurate system of registration. B. a good method of ID. C. minimum mail-in votes. Personal note, internet votes are not secure but it could be made more accurate than mail-ins. There are far too many ways of tampering with the mail-ins. D. drop boxes should never, ever be permitted.

Now, let me explain what we now have for voting. When I go in to vote, my picture ID is checked and I am given a piece of paper. If I prefer, I am given an old fashioned paper ballot.

Assuming I choose the new system, as most do, I go to a computer, enter the paper and complete my vote. The computer prints my vote on the paper, which, in essence has become my completedpaper ballot.

Once I verify it’s correct, I take it to a separate machine and slide the ballot into the 2nd computer.

At this time, my vote is recorded in 3 places, once on paper.

I am not sure what the recount procedure would be, but, if nothing else there is a hard-copy on paper that can be physically counted.

If it were up to me me, regardless of the results, I would do a random check of every 1000th ballot and check it against the computer images. There should be no discrepancy. If any show up, I would endeavor to determine why and correct it.

If we make our methods secure, only then will people trust it, only then will the dishonest be completely discouraged.

Root of Evil

What is it that can cause a person to steal from friends and relatives. What is it that can drive us to risk the well being of ourselves, our friends, our community and our nation.

Some have indeed abandoned oath of office and the good of constituents. It has caused judges and upstanding citizens disgrace and ruin.

I am sure, by now, most of you have figured it out. It is as Jesus said. The root of all evil is the love of money.

Indeed, when a man loves money more than than his brothers, then his brothers are not safe from him. When a president loves money more than his country, you get someone who looks a lot like Old Joe.

When a husband loves money more than his wife and family, he loses that which he has in casinos because of sicknessof greed. Moreover, he will steal so as to lose even more.

The love of money will drive a soldier or sailor to betray his country and the nation that loves money more than God will fall suddenly. For the one citizen will not trust the other.

Money causes man to do ugly things such as selling his fellow man into slavery and the woman into evil so as to increase his wealth. t will destroy the guilty man’s conscience so he knows no guilt.

In a strange ugly way, there are those evil men who seek money by distortion of God’s word, by promising wealth to those who will only have faith.

How Did I Not Know?

Krystals has had an open dining room for quite a while. I used to sit in there for hours working on my books. I worked knitez and I stopped on the way home. Most times, I had a chicken salad, then sipped Diet Coke as I made sure my hero won the day. Unfortunately, they stopped making salad a long time ago.

Still, they had corn dogs, but no more. Well, they still make Kristals and I had four of them, 1 more than I should have. My wife quickly downed 2 of their chile dogs. The service was fast, professional and friendly.

I am sure we will be back. It has been a while since I had one of their wonderful little chicken sandwiches. Then too, their breakfasts are so much better than McDonald’s. The hitch is deciding.

It gives me another reason to be angry at Fauci. It has been a long time since I was able to sit down and enjoy Kristals at Kristals. Come to think of it, he may have had something to do with the downturn of McDonald’s and Wendy’s. Fact is, I do believe he wanted to destroy all restaurants, especially the smaller ones. I’m sure we all know some family operated restaurants that did not make it through the pandemic, especially in the blue states.

I am so glad Kristals is back, even if I never went in there again. Fauci is the one who needs to be put away… in prison for a thousand years.

News and Advertising

Buc-ees?

Ever of it. Suddenly, I am seeing news stories about it left and right, and always in a positive sense.

I suspect the public relations department of Buc-ees issued a release to all news organizations they could think of about the possibility of a new store east of Memphis. Suddenly, millions now know about the company who never heard of it before.

Now that is inexpensive advertising. I mean, you can count me among those who never heard of them before. Even if the store never sees the light of day, the company has acquired millions of dollars of advertising without paying a dime.

It does make a person wonder sometimes, just what is news and what is advertising?

Moreover, considering just how much time is given to it on all stations, I have some real suspicious that a dollar or two exchanged hands. If so, it is paid advertising, no matter how it is camouflaged.

In any case, it didn’t effect me. (or is it affect? Maybe both. Never could keep them straight) Fact is, I would have to go through Memphis these days unless I need to. Too dangerous. Too many Memphis drivers. Too many folks up there who like shooting people. Actually, just too many people.

Options

I’m sure someone already said what I am going to write. Someone must have. It’s so obvious, so simple, someone must have said it. Yet, in my 76 years, I can’t remember anyone saying it, not directly, anyway.

The longer you put something off, the less options you’ll have. The more you make the wrong decisions, the fewer options you have.

Conversely, the more time you prepare, the more options you’ll have.

Think about it. I wish I had, about 60 years ago.
