Color Me Disappointed

My oldest brother was in the Army Signal Corps.  My second oldest brother repaired TV’s and then became an engineer for a big radio station.  My third oldest brother had a degree in electronics and a master’s in math.  He designed computers.  It only made sense that I would become involved in electronics.

Unfortunately, I was somewhat dyslexic, though I was never diagnosed with it.  By definition, dyslexia is not caused by trauma.  Because I had two traumatic events in my early childhood, I might not be dyslexic, even if I meet the criterion otherwise.

That eliminated college.  I am prone to mistakes when I write and I can’t type.  I simply cannot complete a term paper.  Also, I would have never been able to complete college English.  I have this problem with homonyms.  I know the difference between there and their, but, for some unexplained reason, I occasionally use the wrong one.  Worse yet, I have a problem with spelling.

Nowadays, we have word processors that help somewhat.  Still, even after checking and rechecking my work, mistakes get by me.

Still, I did get into electronics.  I went into the Marines and completed a 16 week electronics course in thirteen weeks.  I graduated second in the class.  (I think the other guy cheated)

The last week of the course was on computers.  In 1969, computers were still somewhat new.  Many banks just began using them.  Most TVs used vacuum tubes and transistor radios had just come into their own.

So, at that time, there was little time spent on computers in the school.  However, and this is the whole point of my post, the instructor said something about computers that I still remember, “The only reason for computers is to save time.”

Though one of my brothers designed computers, the thought really surprised me.  Over the years, I thought about the statement many times.  To some degree, the statement is still true.  However, today we have at least three more reasons for computers, graphics, entertainment and saving space.

I don’t think I need to explain the first two, but saving space might not be so obvious.  We used to use fiche.  Now we use disks.  A few optical disks can replace thousands fiche.  Besides, going back to the first reason for the computer, the disk is much faster.

Unfortunately, some have found another reason for computers, keeping track of employees… or citizens.  Today, computers are being used for the BIG BROTHER effect.  Instead of the computers being used to help the employees work more efficiently, they are being used to keep a thumb on the employees to make sure they don’t make too many keystrokes on their keyboards (for example).

For a person who studied computers from my youth, it is a great disappointment.  Instead of being an aid, it allows the boss to spy over the employees shoulder.  It allows the governments to track its citizenry.

Today I am disappointed in the way computers are used.  They are used for games.  All right.  I admit it.  I do play more solitaire than I should.  Still, we have simply overdone it.  Pseudo football games are played on which people gamble, by the millions.  Some are addicted to the games to the point they ignore everything else.

Then, of course, there are those who use the computers to steal.  Some folks have lost their homes to those who know how to use the computer for this purpose.  Then, when the deed is done, almost nothing can be done to make it right.

I have seen the good that computers have done and I have seen the bad that they have done.  Like any other tool, they can be used for good and they can be used for bad.  Seeing the bad I find it very disappointing.  No one seems to care, not even a little.

If I am a computer salesman, I don’t sell to the employee.  He doesn’t control the purse strings of the company.  So, if I hope to sell the computer, I need to show the CEO how the computer the benefits management.

Now, which will have the most successful outcome?  If I explain how I can help the employee or if how easy it makes it to spy on the employees.  And so it is that the computer is abused and will continue to be abused.  I see no way to stop it.

So, just color me disappointed.  Instead of the computer helping to free men, they have been used to enslave them.

Now, as near as I can tell, the communists seem to have discovered computers can be used in taking over a country.  It can be used for finding the individualist.

By the way.  How can I forget one of the most obnoxious abuses of computers… Robocalls!

Free Kindle Book

Don’t know why, but Amazon is listing one of my books for $30, one that I am selling for for less than seven dollars.  Well I can’t do much about the paperback version that someone else is selling, but I can give away copies of the Kindle version.

Half of the reason that I am doing this is to make sure that people can order my copies.  For some reason, if you go to my author’s page, the $30 version is listed first…hiding my less expensive versions.

I would like to know if any of my readers are having difficulty ordering the less expensive books.

As a side note, apparently, someone thinks the paperback is worth $30 dollars.  Maybe I should raise my price.  At any rate it would seem to make this even better for you, a thirty dollar book for free.  (actually, this is the Kindle version that I am normally selling for $1.98)

The book is about a former L. A. detective, Mitch, who lost his wife in a car accident.  Because the driver of the other car jumped bail, he acquires most of the other man’s fortune.  So, though rich, he goes through times of mental and emotional trauma.

As the story opens, he is a private investigator meeting one of his few clients.  Being a wealthy P. I., he is vary selective of his clients.

You will find the book on my author’s page:

amazon.com/author/story_teller

Please note the underscore between the y and the t.  Unfortunately, entering the URL does not always work.  It is supposed to take you to anther one that is a about half a mile long.  Sometimes that doesn’t happen.  I know this because it has happened to me a time or two.  If it does happen to you, please just go to the Amazon.com website and do a search for me, Ben Rhodes.  I have found that it works better than a search on the book title.

Also, if you have a problem, with either method, please drop me a short note at KAAY@att.net.  Some folks don’t like writing reviews.  I understand that.  Because I do treasure honest feedback on my work, you can use the same email address for your remarks, especially if they are critical.  All I ask is that you keep keep them short and free of profanity.

The fee Kindle book will be available May 23&24, 2020.  Tell your friends, your relatives, business acquaintances and all.  It is even all right with me if you tell your enemies.  I won’t mind.  I promise not to complain.

Revisiting Old Posts

I made two posts ages ago; don’t know exactly when.  I do believe I should revisit them, considering recent events.

In one of the posts, I suggested that we maintain a steel and aluminum industry within our country for security.  The last thing we need in a war wherein we must, beg or steal our steel and aluminum from the enemy.  I made the suggestion before President Trump required it and now it appears I was far more correct than I thought.

In light of recent events, I might suggest that the thought be broadened.  With the recent virus outbreak, we almost had to beg supplies from China.  That would not be a good thing.

Maybe what we ought to form a committee and establish a list of things that we must maintain for security purposes.  Also, maybe we should reestablish our space program so that we no longer need to hitch rides with Russia.  If they say HET (Russian word for no, pronounced nyet) we would have a new meaning for the expression “up the creek without a paddle.”

In another post, I suggested that our senators and representatives remain in their own state or district and perform their business through tel-conferencing.  I gave a long list of reasons why this would be a good idea, not the least of which was that it would make it more difficult for the lobbyists to bribe our congressmen.

Again, it would appear that I was more right than I thought.  If they had taken my advice then the virus would have not hindered their business.

On the other hand, there are some who would say that slowing their efforts just might be a good thing.

Either way, I can’t imagine what might have happened if we had an epidemic break out on the floor of either the House or Senate.  If several were to become badly sick, or even die, it might have caused real problems, maybe panic.  It is no wonder that they have all decided to hide out in their own homes.

Well, that may not have been the real reason at all.  Maybe it was a decision made of cowardice.

Regardless, the switch to computerized meetings would be simple to implement and security would be easy to manage.  Just make sure all their computers ran off ROM.

Definition of a Lie

We now have proof that the dummycrats knew there was no collusion.

We also know that, from the beginning, they have been preaching that there was colluding by candidate Trump and then President Trump.  The two things are mutually exclusive.  Both cannot be true at the same time.

To me, that sort of looks like lying.  Maybe they have their own definition, but, if we go by the dictionary, we must say that the dummycrats have been lying.

Then again, we could try to cover it up a little.  We could say they told a little fib.  On the other hand, we could say they have been a little less than truthful.

Personally, I call it a whopper.  Moreover, had Clinton won the election, the lie would have been accepted as absolute truth, at least, by most.  On the other hand, to the mass media, it is historical fact.

Of the liars, Schiff, has to be worst.  He knew there was no proof and yet he insisted he had some.  Moreover, he misrepresented the phone call.  Worst yet, when confronted face to face with the truth, he refuses to admit the lie.

Though I can’t prove it, I believe Obama was the originator of the lie.  For this, I refer you back to one of my earlier posts, the one about incarcerating a president.  I see no need to rewrite it here.  Regardless, even if we had a ton of proof of his wrongdoing, Obama won’t go to prison.  At worst, he and many of his cohorts will be put under house arrest.  The earned imprisonment is simply impractical.

In such a situation, the secret service agents would take on a second task as prison guards.  If I weren’t so old, it is something I would eagerly volunteer for.  They wouldn’t even need to pay me.

Gravity Works Again

I am now 72 years of age and have been for a while now.  So, among my daily rituals is taking my daily doses of meds, a bunch of them.  By the way, did I mention I hate having to take drugs.

If it were just death I were avoiding, I might just stop taking them.  The problem is that if my blood pressure goes too high, it can lead to a stroke or kidney problems.  If my sugar goes too high, any one of a half dozen things can happen, beside death.  I certainly do not want to spend what is left of my life bedridden or worse.

At any rate, the purpose for this is to complain about gravity.  It seems that at least once a week, I drop one of the pills.  Then of course, it provokes the mandatory search.  I certainly don’t want the dog to find it and eat it.

To me, that does seem a bit ironic.  I can never get the dog to swallow the ones the vet tells me to give her.

…and so it is, gravity works every time.  It never fails, even when I would prefer it not.  Because of gravity, I broke my arm when I was 12, in the middle of little league.  Afterward, I learned to do many things left-handed.  Gravity also contributed to my broken ankle and my broken right ring-finger.  It is a fact of life, when a person falls, thanks to gravity, we people break things.

No one invented gravity, although there have been a number of people who have studied it.  It is God’s invention.  It is the way He made the world and only He can suspend its operation.  By the way, he did this at least once when he made an ax head float.

Today we look at gravity as part of physics, which among other things include a number of laws: light, magnetism, inertia, etc.  Again, we never invented any of these phenomenon.  We simply observed them and wrote rules regarding them.  Again, no human can change them.  Though airplanes fly, they do not truly defy gravity.  They stay airborne only because of other laws of physics.

Most of us are well aware of the above by the time we reach high school.  What people fail to realize is that the laws that God set forth are not limited to physics.  The first 5 books of the Holy Bible are filled with the laws of God.  We humans think we don’t have to follow them.

Guess what.  We are just as subject to those laws as the laws of physics.  Fortunately, God has seen fit, in a way, suspend the damage we do when we disobey them.  Some assume they are getting away with it, sort of like the shoplifter.  Be sure.  Nothing escapes His eye.  He sees it all and there will be a day reckoning.  There will be no exceptions.  There will be a penalty for every single time any of us does something wrong.

Again, all sins will be paid for, either by the sinner or by Jesus.  If you accept Him as your savior, He pays for them.  If you don’t, then you will pay for them.  Every one you do not pay for in this life, you will pay for in hell.  The law is just as sure as gravity.  You can’t change it.

It sounds to me like a good reason to accept Jesus as your savior.  Yet most people defiantly refuse.  The reasons are varied.  However, it is a fact, God will not accept any of them.  You cannot defy gravity and just as sure, you cannot defy God’s laws as he has set forth in his Holy Bible.

Some people say there are many ways to heaven besides Jesus.  That is just not true.  If there was, Jesus would have had no reason to go to the cross.  Because there was only one way, he bore all our sins on the cross.  It is the fulfillment of the law.  Because He paid the price, the penalty was paid.  Because we accept Him and His payment, we do not have to pay the price.

Because He said on the cross that “It is finished,” we do not need to add anything to his work.  If we try, then we do not trust Him at his word.  Anyone who thinks they can help in their own salvation is just as doomed as he who doesn’t believe at all.

First, we cannot add to what Jesus did.  Second, if we try, we are saying what what he said on the cross isn’t true.  In essence, we say he lied.

…and so it causes something of a paradox.  When I say that I am going to heaven, it somewhat sounds as if I am boasting of my works.  Actually, the opposite is true.  I am admitting my failure and I am relying totally on Jesus’ promise and power.  If I say that he might save me, I am admitting my lack of faith in Him.  If I say that I just might be able to earn my way into heaven, it sounds like I am admitting my humility.  Actually, a person who thinks they might earn their way to heaven, or even contribute, has not admitted their inability to pay the price of their sin.  In some cases, they aren’t even admitting their sin at all.

Make no mistake.  God’s rules apply to you.  If you have any complaints about them, individually or collectively, don’t complain to me.  I didn’t make them.  Complain to God.  He is the one Who made them.  You might consider the statement flippant.  However, regardless of the reason, God just might want to hear from you, even if it is an honest complaint.

Side note: do not rely on any church or religion to save you.  It simply will not happen.  No church can save you or can it or its clergy.  The only help they can provide is to help you understand it.  The decision is yours and only yours.  No one can make it for you.  Though God does have the power to make it for you, He won’t.  No one makes your decision of His mercy or His law but you.

Damage Assessment

In one of my previous posts, I spoke of a conspiracy.  Many may not believe it.  Many may not think of it as being that serious.  Regardless, it is a fact that it has caused problems.  First and foremost, it has given The United States Justice Department, especially the FBI  a black eye.

My best guess is that the FBI will never regain have the respect that it once had.  This is a shame considering that it was only the leadership that has caused the stench.  Along with the loss of respect, there is a loss of trust.  I don’t speak for others, but my attitude has changed.

A few years ago, I would have gone way out of my way to help the FBI.  Today, not so much.  They want to question me, they will have to give me a statement that they will not charge me with lying.  By the way, I would suggest that anyone reading this do the same.

To be sure the activities are far reaching.  When I hear that someone is being prosecuted by Justice, I will wonder about their guilt.  I may even suspect that there is no evidence.  They certainly had none against Gen. Flynn.

When a dummycrat representative stands up before the world as makes a absolute statement, I will not believe him.  This will be so regardless of how many witnesses he produces.  Might I remind you that Rep. Schiff had many witnesses that backed his story…until they were under oath.  Then, what they had to say was the complete opposite of Schiff’s statement.

May I also remind one and all that we almost had a takeover of our government.  A president was impeached without an ounce of evidence.  The recent releases of the testimonies previously kept secret by Schiff verify that.

Finally, the dummycrats have been a constant hindrance to everything the president has tried to do, in many cases without reason other than to make him look bad.  If the president had not been so greatly apposed, we would be far better off today.  Every thing he has done or tried to do is for the betterment of the nation.

As for that judge that is trying Flynn’s case, let me paraphrase an old saying.  As we look at the hem of his robe, we now see that his bias is showing.  He really should be embarrassed by this exposure, but I doubt he is.  So, now we can’t trust the federal judges either.  (I suppose that ought not surprise any of us)

Deals or Rubber Hoses

I am something of a Law and Order fanatic.  I guess I have watched almost every episode two or three times.  When I watch an episode, I can remember virtually the whole thing after just a few minutes.

I pretty much stay with the original version.  I don’t particularly care for the actors in the spinoffs.  I find one of them particularly obnoxious as he seems to be an expert on just about everything, though I must admit that such knowledge just might come in handy for a real detective.

Naturally, it would be ludicrous to think any of it all that believable, but I’m sure they do try to keep it reasonably real.  The problem, of course, is that they must always solve the crime and convict the culprit in court in one hour.  If the real police and prosecutors could manage that, we wouldn’t have near the backup in the court systems.

However, one thing did catch my attention in one of the episodes and I think it is worth considering.

They caught the culprit and they offered him a deal.  If he pleaded guilty, they would let him live.

Now that sounds reasonable.  The man keeps his life and the state saves a bunch of money and time.  Then the culprit spoils it all by saying he preferred the rubber hose.  His chances of coming out alive were far better.

Of course, he was referencing the days when the police used physical force to “beat” the confession out of a suspect.  Nowadays, the courts won’t allow such methods.  If it is determined that such methods are used in acquiring a confession, the judge will throw it out.  Moreover, any evidence acquired during the session is also disallowed, something about a poisonous tree.

I get it.  Beating a confession out of a man is barbaric.  Moreover, all it really proves is that he can’t stand the pain.  during those days, it is very probable that a man or two was sent to prison simply because he couldn’t tolerate the torture.

Then again, is it better that we send an innocent man to prison because he fears dying prematurely.  For sure, some people are terrified by the thought of death.  (not sure, but I think there is a name for the fear)  In other words, it is possible that if you threaten the right man with death, then he’ll confess to anything.

As the man in the show said, I think I would prefer the rubber hose.  It is less permanent.

Either way, there is something about a confession.  If a man is convicted before a jury, he stands a better chance of having the verdict overturned than the man who confesses.  There is a difference between a confessed killer and a convicted killer.

There are many reasons the courts don’t like re-trying a convicted man.  The man who confesses, much more.  This is especially true if a lot of time has passed.  Evidence gets stale and memories fade.  Worse yet, witnesses might pass.  A true fair re-trial becomes impossible.

So, Gen. Flynn sits before his accusers and they say, “If you don’t confess…”  Flynn refuses.  So they threaten to put his son prison.  So he confesses.

I don’t know about you, but if I were Flynn, I would prefer the rubber hose.  I don’t think I would want my son going to prison.

So, does Flynn’s confession prove his guilt or does it prove his love for his son.  Would he be a better man if he let his son go to prison.

A Whole of Conspiring Going On

There was a movie, “The Conspiracy Theory.”  (It’s a good movie.  If you haven’t seen it, you should.)  In it, a man whose sanity was a little suspect, proved a massive conspiracy.  I have a copy of it, a DVD and I have watched it a number of times.

The first time I watched it, it seemed very unbelievable.  Now, I have second thoughts.

Moreover, it has come to my attention that we are living in a real historic time.  The conspiracy that we have seen unfold before us is far greater than the one in the movie.

The list of conspirators is a very long list, so I will list them in groups.  First, there is the intelligence group: CIA and the rest of that alphabet soup.  Then the congressmen.  We certainly can’t overlook The Justice Department.  Of course, that would include the FBI, which includes likely a dozen or so high level personnel.

Some would suggest that Obama was part of it, maybe Biden as well.  They may or may not have instigated it but they definitely knew and did nothing to stop it.  To be sure, Obama was part of the group that wanted the Paris Accord.  Also, he likely would be very happy with a one world government.

The largest group was the press, those who were constantly quoting anonymous sources.  It is amazing how they managed to suggest all sorts of lies in bold print on the first page of every paper and they put the retractions well buried inside, if at all.

At least, to some degree, federal judges have tried to further the efforts of the conspirators.  Many times, they have chosen to make decisions against President Trump.  In one of the most recent ones, The Supreme Court decided unanimously against the lower court and in favor of the President.  Even the liberal agreed the lower courts were wrong.  The problem is that the lower courts managed a delay tactic and they knew it.

Every conspiracy has a purpose.  In this case, it had multiple purposes, but they all sprang from one goal, global control.  In the process, they knew they would have to destroy or circumvent the constitution, especially the first four amendments.  Something of a absurdity, they used the amendments in their attempt to destroy them, such as the freedom of speech and the press.  No one dares to say anything politically incorrect or they are immediately dragged through the mire of the justice of the press.

It also relied on ceding our sovereignty.  This was to be accomplished through the Paris accord and the TPP.  The trick is that any treaty with any other country, if approved by congress, supersedes the constitution.  Oh…and by the way.  This was all coincidental to ceding our sovereignty to the U.N.

The whole process was going along swimmingly for them.  Then, President Trump came along and became president.  Their first big disaster was when he withdrew from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) and they started realizing the prognosis.  President Trump was not a globalist and he did not intend to let the globalist have their way.  Then, of course, he withdrew from the Paris Accord.  He saw right through the fog of the ecologists and chose not to cede any part of our sovereignty to the treaty.

Even before he took the oath of office, the conspirators were busy trying to destroy him and his administration.  One by one they have been busy trying to pick off members of his cabinet, this while setting traps and roadblocks.  The colluders knew that if the new judges believed in The Constitution, their efforts might be set back a decade or two.  Already, they realize some of their fears.  While the liberal lower courts continue to rewrite the law, The Supreme Court has now made several decisions in his favor and, ultimately, in the favor of our country.

Now it would appear that the documentation of the above is being exposed.  In case after case, the dummycrats, in public, tell of the Russian collusion.  However, in secure sessions, not one of them admits to knowing any anything about Russian collusion.

So, they either lied to us, the public, as part of a conspiracy or they lied to Congress under oath.  Somehow, I am more prone to believe that they were lying to us.  Lying to the public might have consequences, but it is not against the law.

In summary, it would appear that the only collusion going on was by the dummycrats.  Only, it is legally called conspiracy.

The historic fact is that we barely avoided a coup d’état by the globalists.  If they had succeeded, there would soon be no more constitution.  Our national government would soon be replaced by some kind of one world bureaucracy, possibly the U.N.

It is no wonder they hate President Donald Trump.  He foiled their takeover, at least for the short term.  If the dummycrats should regain control (and power) it would not be long before they would be right back on track.  President Trump will have only made enough of a bump in the road to slow them a few years.

I hope and pray that doesn’t happen.  I don’t like movies where the bad guys win.

Oh!  One more little detail.  Guess who is footing the bill for this conspiracy.  That’s right.  We, the tax payers.  (This includes all that was spent in framing Gen. Flynn.  It was likely 4 or 5 million dollars, maybe more.)

Don’t expect any of these conspirators to pay the price for their dirty deeds.  Dummycrats never go to jail, only republicans.

An Instant Change In Direction

I have been told a time or two that nothing can make an instantaneous change in direction.  For Instance, consider a baseball thrown at 100 mph.  After it is hit by a bat, it goes 100 mph in virtually the opposite direction.

The ball takes some time to make that change in direction.  Moreover, at some instant in time, the ball stands still.  I suppose, for a fraction of a second, the ball must decelerate to nothing.  Then, it spends, likely about the same time accelerating to 100 mph, but in the opposite direction.

Of course, we humans see it as instantaneous.  It all happens so fast we can’t follow the change.  Even the mathematician would have a difficult time with it.  Determining just how long it took the ball to make the turnaround would be very difficult with even the best slow-motion camera.  I don’t know.  I don’t know if it could be measured or calculated at all.

One thing I do know.  The change in direction is slow compared to those dummycrats when it comes to determining if a woman has been sexually abused or not.  Consider, the Clintons.  He admitted guilt and lying about it.  Then, his wife and all the dummycrats got behind him and said, “It’s okay.”  …and of course, any other woman that made any accusations were instantly turned into trailer-park trash.  Hillary simply waved her magic wand and the threat to her husband disappeared faster than that homer I was considering earlier.

Then, Judge Cavanaugh is accused of all sorts of sordid things with absolutely no evidence…

BANG!!

The ball instantly stops and heads the opposite way.  The man is, of course, absolutely guilty and should never be allowed to be dogcatcher.

Then Bidden is accused with some evididence…

BANG!!

The ball reverses again, this time faster.

I’ve figured it out.  Justice is far simpler than I ever thought.  If the man has a D after his name, he didn’t do it.  Even if he did, it doesn’t matter.

If the man has an R after his name, he is automatically guilty and should be hung from the nearest tree.

That settles it.  If I am ever accused of anything, I will make sure there is a D after my name.  That will result in a short trial, if any, even if I’m guilty.

I figure that a D after my name would give me a license to do all sorts of things.

Then again, I wouldn’t be the first to use that tactic.  Somehow or other, I don’t think I would be the last.

If you don’t think it works, consider the Keeting five.  In this case, McCain and four dummycrats got caught with their hands in the cookie jar.  The result was the downfall of the savings and loan system.  Had it not been for the four dummycrats, McCain would have gotten what he deserved, prison time.  Then again, they could hardly throw him in jail and let the others go.  So they let all five go.

Unlike most, I remember the incident.  I was in my mid-twenties. I had money in Lincoln Savings, one of the institutions McCain robbed.  (only he used no gun or mask)  I thought sure that they would all go to jail.  It was the first time I got a good look at how things really work in politics.

The way things are today, they would have still let the others go free.  However, because McCain had an R after his name, he would have gone to prison, or at least he would have lost his seat in the Senate.
