Is it Right or Is it Wrong?

In last few days the Supreme court has made some decisions. Old Joe has said he will need to find another way. The homosexuals have said they have been slighted. The dems are upset that there is no longer a quota system in the colleges. It would seem there is a whole lot of disagreeing going on. One says one thing. The other says the other.

So, the question is arising, were they right or were they wrong? I submit to you. it is very easy to tell. When the dems hate it, the Justices can suspect they got it right. When the NY times complains about the decision, it goes beyond suspicion. When the major news anchors complain as if someone has them by the little toe, then they will know, beyond any reasonable doubt that they have it right.

A False Statement

Certainly, just because a statemen is true on the surface doesn’t mean it’s effectively true. I heard a statement person on the news today say that shootings are up this year over last year. Sorry. I don’t have cable anymore so I couldn’t rewind it to get the specifics. (can’t remember the idiot’s name that said it, but I would like to thank him for providing the example)

The thing is, I believe him. I’d guess shootings and deaths by guns is likely up this year by five to ten percent. What the man failed to mention was that prosecution and convictions of gun crimes are down. Go figure.

It all goes back to the basics, if you don’t punish people for committing crimes, they will continue to commit them. Even more, more people will commit them.

Then, on the other side of the coin, prosecutors more and more are going after those shooting in self-defense.

It’s no wonder gun crime is going up. They have created the gun criminals paradise. They get to shoot at us and we don’t get to shoot back.

It’s what I call the perfect example of using the truth to deceive. Using the truth for deceit is the most effective way of deceiving. If he had lied, we would have known it quickly. So, he lies not. He just withholds the truth. Maybe it would be a good idea to put the criminals in prison. That way gun crime, all crime would decrease.

Just off hand, I wonder if he ever checked to see if maybe all crime has increased. I suspect it has, but it doesn’t suit his purpose to address that. That fact would get in the way of his agenda to remove guns from us all.

As a side inquiry; I wonder just how many of those shootings were committed by illegal aliens that Joe invited over the boarder or by people in the drug or human trade that has increased from the open border policy.

BUILD THE WALL

Soloman Chose Wisdom

It is an interesting selection. To be sure, given the fact that he was going to be king of God’s chosen people, I guess it is the wisest choice. From time to time, Soloman was given impossible decisions and quickly resolved them; for example, the two women and the baby. It is not only a wise decision but one that has been used down through the years in varied ways.

Now, no one has asked me what I want, but if God did, I would be a little self-centered in that I would want two gifts. Certainly, I would like to be just as close as I could get to God and still have my feet on terra firma. Well, I did say it was selfish. It would be very difficult for me to think of anything better.

The second choice would be to be the gift of healing. I have no disillusions. I suspect that maybe it would have aspects I cannot foresee. Jesus had the perfect power to heal, and they nailed him to a tree. Moreover, I know that any such gifts should not be used for me but to further the great news, what others call the gospel.

Once word got out that I could put my hands on a person and make them well, I would be, perhaps, the most well-known person on this planet. Almost anyone who makes it to their thirties have health problems. No parents want to see their child succumb to cancer. How many parents would love to see their child healed of some kind of crippling disease or injury.

I’m afraid that as soon as I hung out my shield, I would have a mile long line. As soon as it became known that I was for real, the line would become ten miles long. I don’t think I like that. I mean I would have no problem working more than an eight-hour day healing people. I’d love it. I just don’t think it would be the ideal way doing it. I would not like the side-show atmosphere.

I think it would be better if I go from place to place unannounced. I could visit the bed ridden and the diseased. In each case, I could say a word or two about who Jesus is and how he wants to save all people of all races throughout the world. I could explain how one must accept Jesus as his personal savior. For he is the only one who has that power to save. He does not impart it to any man. I would explain how he or she must have faith to be saved, for we ourselves have no such power to do it or add to it.

To the lame I would say, “Just as you had not the power to heal yourself, you have no power to save yourself. It is just as vein and pathetic to try to heal oneself of ALS as it is to heal oneself of the curse of sin.

Well, I don’t have the gift of healing and likely never will. Still, I can spread the great news of salvation. Sometimes I’ll be scoffed or ridiculed. Then too, occasionally, someone might understand and accept what the Bible says about it as truth.

Jesus himself said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God,” John 3:3. You notice how emphatic the words are. You notice there is not so much as one exception. So, it would seem, according to the spoken word of Jesus that there is simply no way around it. If you have not had a second birth, you will not see the kingdom of God. How much plainer can it be. How clear it is that it is most important to each and every one of us.

To Nicodemus at the time, heard Jesus likely spoke in Aramaic. To us, the translation is clear. Yet, millions will hear these words and ignore them, though they are some of the most important words ever spoken. The entire chapter of John 3 might be the most important words ever spoken by anyone. It would behoove all of us to read them and read them again until we can quote them from memory.

Soloman chose wisdom. If you have not been born again, the wisest decision of your life is to seek the salvation that has been offered as a gift by Jesus.

Incidentally, don’t even try to earn the gift. You haven’t the power. You definitely haven’t the authority. You can only make the choice to accept or reject it. Then, the instant you accept it, all your sins, past, present and future will be removed from your records. You will not be held accountable for them ever. That is what is called forgiveness and God alone has the power to forgive sin.

Is It Is, or Is It Was?

Odd question, isn’t it? Is it something that still is, or is it something that was, that is to say, no longer exists. The question came to mind as I was watching one of those Law-and-Order things. don’t remember which. I think it was filmed a year or two before the China virus.

In the background was a large restaurant. I ignored the foreground for a while and looked at the restaurant. There it was. I suspect it was a real restaurant with real owners and real employees. I suspect they had a regular clientele right there in NY, NY someplace. I wonder if it still is. I wonder if it is one of those places that was and is no more.

Perhaps the owner went bankrupt. Perhaps he was one of those horrible statistics. NY, NY was one of the hardest hit cities. Moreover, the mayor and governor had no idea what they were doing. Even if the restaurant is still there, they might have lost many of their regulars. There were many restaurant goers who no longer go to restaurants.

It is another reminder that one day, in a country halfway around the world, a lab was doing unthinkable research and one of the greatest disasters ever, began when some of those super microscopic semi-living organisms escaped and the world will never be the same.

President Trump said it started in China so he called it the China virus. I watched as it spread, first from the west and then from the east to my little corner of the world. I think I had it twice. I guess God decided to keep me around for a while. I suffered, yes, but I’m still here. Don’t think I’ll ever be the same again. I don’t have nearly the energy.

I watched it on TV. First, they talked about tens, then hundreds the hundreds of thousands. It spread so fast, sort of like it was designed to do that. My thought was it was those horrid Chinese. Then my eyes were opened. We financed that research. It was money from this country that killed the millions. No one really pays any attention once we start talking thousands.

As for me, I like to think in terms of individuals. So, here I am wondering if that restaurant is or if it was.

How quickly the dems accuse Republicans of being Nazis. Yet, can one dem point out one Republican that caused more death than Fauci. Has there ever been a conservative that has caused such disruption to international trade and travel. Has so much as one person on the right side of the isle caused 2- and 3-year-olds to wear masks on airlines, when they knew they do no good. And by the way, does anyone remember that the airlines, all of them almost went bankrupt.

Let’s put Fauci in prison and throw the key away, the sooner the better.

Error, Error

I heard a preacher, don’t know his denomination. Makes no difference. Just happened that I landed on the channel for a few seconds. What he said made me think. Hopefully, it will cause others to think. Basically, he said we should not do good for reward.

Now, you know. That just sounds right. To be sure that doing good without expecting reward is admirable. I have often considered the impossible. For once I would like to surprise the Lord and do something good that he doesn’t expect. You and I both know that’s not going to happen, though I’d suspect that He would like it if we try. And He would especially like it if we expected little or nothing in return.

However, it is an error. When we do that which is good, it is what we are expected to do anyway. I mean, what good can we do that He doesn’t already tell us to do? What good can we do that is outside of His instructions.

So I thought on it and realized what the preacher said was in error. Salvation itself is a reward for faith. Abraham was rewarded for his faith and for demonstrating his faith. Soloman was rewarded for asking for wisdom, not power, fame or riches. God rewarded him with power, fame and riches. In at least one place, I can’t think of the passage, but we are admonished to seek first the kingdom of God. In this it is implied that we should expect reward in possibly this life or the next.

Over and over again, God told the Israelites to do as He told them, and they would be rewarded greatly, and they were. Certainly, He didn’t imply that they should do right just because it is right. God did offer the rewards. The first five books of the Bible are full of examples of God offering rewards for obedience. If it is wrong to expect rewards, it does produce a bit of irony. For, doing good for reward would be doing bad. Hence, as the preacher said, we should not seek reward.

On the other hand, if we do good simply because we love him and want to please him, that’s a pretty good thing too.

However, in all this, we should remember that without Christ Jesus, it is impossible for us to please God. That is true, reward or not. Our hope isn’t so much to impress Him but to be obedient and have faith. The two are just almost synonymous. Because of the faith we obey him. In doing so, we will please God, and we will be rewarded, whether we seek reward or not.

Certainly, also, we should be careful of what we expect for a reward. Fame and fortune can be as much of a curse as a blessing. Still, I wouldn’t mind a little more in my bank account. Never did care much for fame. If you see me at a party, you’ll likely find me in the corner where I won’t be noticed.

Not in My Lifetime

Channel ten is the local station for PBS. I do watch it from time to time. They do have two or three good shows. Although here lately, it’s getting rarer. Then too, they like to preach to me about climate change. Not that it matters but I would suspect the folks that run that network generate a lot more carbon dioxide in an hour than I do in a month. I likely use less water and I certainly don’t take up nearly as much space in my little 900 square foot home. I really don’t think they have any right preaching their message at me. They are the ones who need to take their own advice.

Nonetheless, they like to ask me for contributions. That is not going to happen. Certainly not while they try to convince the world of that garbage. Now, here lately, they’ve gotten on that homosexual related binge, the one where they uses up almost all the letters in the alphabet. If I were to give one dime to any outfit that preached that stuff as normal, God would be completely justified in taking me off this planet immediately.

Why should I give anyway. Ignoring the homosexual thing, they don’t have any programming worth it. What they need to do is just simply go commercial. Then, if they were really smart, they would know better than to put stuff like that on TV. Look at what it did to Budweiser. People don’t like seeing things like that. It’s not just me. I’m not the only one complaining. Why do you think they are losing the public funding so fast? People do have objections and they don’t like their money squandered as they do. They ought to figure it out as I’m sure the contributions are dropping. I’m sure their audience is shrinking as well. If it continues, they will just simply disappear, they will simply fade away. It won’t hurt my feelings.

Why should I contribute one dime to any organization that hates God the way they do. I know they hate God because of what they say and because of what they do. If they liked God, even a little, they wouldn’t talk like that and they wouldn’t act like that. They are openly and actively rebelling against the Him.

As for me, I’ll have no part of it. Believe me, if the stations were to be dropped tomorrow, we wouldn’t miss it. Those shows that are good will find their way onto other platforms. If they don’t, they must not be that good.

If they really want my support, they will need to change what they say and what they do. My guess is, that is not going to happen, not in my lifetime.

The Object of Their Love

The following numbers I took off the internet. I simply queried the wealths and wrote them down. However, I would suspect that the numbers are at least close to accurate.

The Clintons have about 120 million. I suspect that of being a little low. To the best of my knowledge, they had very little employment outside of working for Uncle Sam. To be sure, she made some money in law. He made some as a speaker. They both made a ton or two off their so-called charity. It has become obvious that they both used the charity as a slush fund.

Obama and his wife have about 70 million. Not bad for being a community organizer. Me thinks he found another source somewhere. Regardless, he hasn’t done too bad for himself. I suspect he doesn’t do so much community organizing these days, but he sure messed up our medical system. He said he would save us money. Quite the opposite. Of course, all his doctor bills are paid for, he’s very much welcome.

Biden as VP was worth about 8 million. He was sort of slumming it compared to his compadres. However, it’s not bad considering he did it on senator’s pay. Don’t really know what he has now. Some reports say 9 million. Others say 158 million. If you’re curious, you are welcome to try and get something more accurate. Considering what he owns in real estate alone, I’d guess he has to have 30 or 40 million. It takes a lot to keep those homes in good shape, not to mention the cost utilities and gardening.

Then, of course there’s Hunter. While he is not a government employee, his father is. I would suspect his millions and his father’s millions are likely a little entangled. It just might be difficult to determine what belongs to the one and what belongs to the other. It does make his worth at 230 million a little suspicious.

Now. Is the above accurate? I don’t know. As they say, you can’t always believe what you see on the internet. However, I do believe one thing. They all seem to have a lot of love of money.

Now, let’s see. What is it that the Bible has to say about the love of money?

1 Tim. 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil. (king James)

As an aside, I’d like to repeat a quote from a post I made 3 or 4 years ago. I can’t quote it exactly, but you’ll get the point. No matter how good a government is, it won’t work if evil men are running it. Dr. J. Vernon McGee said that. And may I add, those running this government are just about as evil as you can get. They are right on the brink of destroying the government, the Constitution and the nation… I think intentionally and for their benefit. They do seem to have a real love of money… and they hunger for power.

What a Waste!

If they had just harvested every 3rd tree in those Canadian forests, they could have turned a third of those trees into beautiful furniture, wonderful homes, maybe even a few baseball bats. Instead, they are nothing but ashes. They are good for nothing.

Instead of being turned into something useful, they have generated untold tons of carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide (poison for us people. poison for the wild animals.

It’s what happens when a bunch of no nothing do-gooders try to run a country. It’s the obvious result when folks who know nothing about forests try to manage forests.

It’s so sad but clear, we have wasted a lot of board feet of wood and killed tons of trees, all for the sake of trying to save them. Who knows how many animals’ lives were lost, how many square miles of animal habitat have been lost in the name of what… well I really don’t know. I don’t think the do-gooders do either.

Then again, it only matters if it’s the bad Republicans that cause the damage. Do you really think the environmentalists care about any of it? I mean why should they. They answer to no one. Not so much as one Jounalists has brought it up in any way shape or form that I have seen. No reports have been made. No questions asked. They shrug their shoulders, walk away and say, “What a shame. It must be those horrid Republicans and their global warming again.”

I wonder how much global warming was caused by the burning of those poor defenseless trees and the green gasses they produced. I would suspect it was far more than the automobiles. Certainly, far more than lawn mowers or gas stoves.

Thanks Shelby County

They just approved a 50 dollar wheel tax. That will encourage a few to move south, or north, or west. Of course, it won’t make my property value to increase but a penny or two, but every bit helps. Besides, it’s really long term anyway. We all know that the fifty will always increase, never decrease. Who knows what it will be in a few years.

When a person looks at that long term, they just might decide DeSoto County might be better than Shelby County to call home.

Well, there is always that traffic problem but that will be here anyway. The folks from Memphis are flocking to the better safer and more convenient DeSoto eating places. I know. I can tell. On any given Sunday, Southaven’s Golden Corral parking lot is about half full with Shelby County car tags.

It’s okay. Y’ll just keep coming. We appreciate the business and the tax revenues. My guess is that over a year, Mississippi will make gain more off the extra sales tax revenues than Shelby County will gain on their wheel tax. Oh. And by the way, we appreciate the government up north encouraging the migration south.

All or Nothing

If I say I will do a thing for you and then you help with it, can I really say I did something for you?

Of course not. I simply, to some degree, helped you. I cannot say that I totally did that thing for you.

If God does something for you and you say you helped, you lie, unless you really helped. No one can help in your salvation, which is absolutely impossible. You can neither save yourself nor can your help in your salvation. The sooner you face that, the closer you are to true salvation. God said that He will save you if you put your faith in Him. That means you acknowledge you need salvation and that means that you put your faith in Him, totally. This does not mean some faith in him and some faith in yourself. It does not work that way.

Worse, when you try to contribute to your salvation, you are doubting Him, saying that his work is not sufficient, that he needs help from you. Also, you are trying to say that you are good enough to help. That simply is not true.

It is an all or nothing proposition. You either put your total faith in Him or you have not any faith in him at all.

I find no place in the Bible that says as much, but it does seem a good way for God to deal with our pride. Those that go to heaven will not be able to brag about how they helped in their salvation. There will be no boasting, “I helped twenty percent” while another boasts I helped thirty percent. Those that go to heaven will all have to admit that they helped zero percent. If there is any bragging to do, it will be on our Lord Jesus Christ. It was upon his shoulders that all sin was placed. It was He who died and He who arose from the dead on the third day as prophesied. It was Him who took the scourging of the whips and It was Him Who died on the cross in our place. In no way did we help Him at any point along the way. And, in a thumbnail sketch, that is how we were saved.

Does anyone really want to boast that he or she helped. Did he hang on the cross with Jesus? Did he actually bear the penalty of his own sin? Did he die and then come back from the grave to live forever? Of course not. We none of us has anywhere near the power. That is why He did it for us. That is why we must put our faith in Him and not in ourselves.

Remember: faith plus works is not faith at all.
