Sixth Amendment?

I’ve taken a little look at the sixth amendment.  As near as I can tell, the right to face your accuser only applies for defendants in criminal court.  That means that the worst killer or rapist has the right to face his accuser.  This includes victims as well as any witness.

There are three reasons for this.  First, it is a verification that the witness exists.  Without the sixth amendment, the prosecution can just make up the witness and claim he is real.

Second, the accused is able to question the witness.  Believe it or not, some witnesses do lie.  When the witness is put on the witness chair under oath, it gives the accused the ability to challenge the witness’s testimony.  Strange as it seems, some witnesses don’t tell the truth.  Sometimes they intentionally lie, even under oath.

Third, it gives the accused a chance to uncover motives.  For instance, if the witness stands to gain a few million dollars by giving false witness, it might be a good thing for the jurors to consider during deliberations.

Unfortunately, President Trump does not have this right.  He is not being tried in a criminal court.  He is being railroaded by a bunch of dummycrats that hate him.  Instead of a jury, if impeached, he will be judged by senators.  There is no doubt in my mind that he will not be found guilty.

However, the false charges brought by the false witnesses are also being displayed (very selectively) before the public.  Even if there is no impeachment, the falsities remain and the president never gets a chance to challenge any of it.

Hence, he is not even being treated as well as a serial killer.

May I remind you, we don’t even know if these whistleblowers exist?  Assuming he does, we don’t know his motives.  Finally, there is no opportunity for the president’s lawyers to challenge the accuracy of what they say.

Is this really the way to run an impeachment?  I am sure that if our forefathers considered such a thing, they likely would have written the sixth amendment a little differently.

Then again, they likely never considered the likes of the dummycrats.

Public Schools

When our forefathers set up our government, they did a wonderful job.  There are a few suggestions I have for a change to the constitution, but by and large, they did a much better job than I ever would.  It would stand to reason they had a good look at what they didn’t want.

Unfortunately, I do believe they overlooked one major thing.  I can understand it.  It could not have been foreseen in the day.  The hitch is that now it is very likely too late.  It would seem that the federal government has crept into our education system.

They gave us the first amendment to keep the government out of publishing papers.  However, when the government controls what is taught in our schools and colleges, it really amounts to the same thing.  Our education system is horrible at teaching as compared to most developed nations.  On the other hand, it is very good at indoctrinating.  Worse yet, they are bound and determined to prevent private schools wherever possible.

The instant that anyone brings up the possibility of a penny going to a private school, it is about the same sound as when I accidentally step on my dog’s tail.  They don’t even want any money paid toward such private schools being tax deductible.  As such, people who do send their children to private schools end up paying twice.

Certainly, there are two reasons they don’t want private schools to thrive.  Already, statistics show that kids who go to private schools, or those that are homeschooled, do so much far better.  Their academic measures are better in every way.  Also, they are generally better citizens.

To add to the indictment of the public schools, the private schools provide the better education at about half the costs.  Certainly, the NEA does not want that getting around.

If students that normally do poorly were to be put into private schools and they suddenly started doing well, it would really give the public schools a black eye.  They certainly would not want that.

Worse yet, they would never get a chance to indoctrinate any student permitted to go to private school.  It would take them out of the reach of the NEA and the government.  Now you know why the government wants your children in their schools.  And woe to the parent who complains about them being indoctrinated.  And woe to anyone who complains about the public system.

The Bully

The leaders of Iran are nothing more than two-bit bullies.  They are throwing their weight around, such as it is.  There are two ways to deal with bullies.  Ideally, you ignore them.  Sometimes that is not an option.  When they kill people, especially when they threaten to kill people in mass, then it is time to use the second method, or at least make the threat.

Iran has threatened to eliminate Israel.  Soon, if permitted, they will gain the ability to do that.  It means preventing that, no matter what it takes.  Moreover, we need to make sure they realize our intentions.  That means, in the long run, we need to make sure they don’t get a nuclear bomb or the means to deliver it.

In the short term, we need to watch them carefully.  The instant they start flexing what little muscle they have, we need to retaliate and quickly.  We need to make them pay for their stupidity.

That does not mean that we send in troops.  Most likely, there would be no need.  Simply a few well placed conventional bombs would be all that would be needed.  Depending on what they do or threaten to do, ten to thirty bombs would be all that would be needed to send them a message.

It wouldn’t be the purpose to win a war.  It is simply important that we remind them that we have the means and the determination to deal with them.  That doesn’t mean that they suddenly behave themselves.  It is just important that they know each time they strike,  we will counterstrike significantly harder.

Sometimes, it is the only way a bully will learn.  You see, most bullies have are hard of hearing.  Sometimes, it takes three or four lessons, but, eventually, they will learn.  It is better than sending in troops.  It will let them know that we can strike by pressing a few buttons.  Oddly, it is better for them too.  If we have to send troops in, their losses will be far more.

This has another benefit.  In the unlikely event that we would have to send in troops, our army would probably would not encounter much resistance.  Also, if we need to send in troops, they should have one objective, the oil fields.  Without their oil, what little threat they have would be suddenly removed.

The most important part, we need to “bluff” them and then stand ready to fully back the bluff.  There would be another advantage of this method.  Bullies, worldwide, will know that we mean what we say.  It will drastically decrease the need to send our troops anywhere again.

Why Does Everyone Compare People to Hitler?

It seems these days, every time I turn around, someone is comparing someone to Hitler.  It is as if Hitler was the worst man that ever lived.  Actually, hardly thinking, I can think of at least three men worse than Hitler.  By the way, they were all communists: Lenin, Stalin and Mao Tse-tung.  Each of them killed far more than Hitler.

I’m not trying to say that Hitler is any less a villain, but it would seem that the communist leaders are immune to being used for comparisons.

So when people try to compare President Trump to Hitler, it is nice to know they don’t want to compare him to the worst of the worst.

Nonetheless, they are showing their ignorance.  Hitler was trying to gain utter control of all the world.  President Trump is trying to return fredoms that the socialists are trying to take from us.  President Trump is trying to counter the efforts of the globalists that would like to put the whole world under the terror of one world government.

Actually, I don’t think it is ignorance at all.  Those pushing socialism know exactly what they are trying to do; seek power.  They want to control all we do and all we think. Then, President Trump had the audacity and the courage of getting in their way.

PANIC!!!

The dummycrats have done what they do best.  They wasted $30 million on a do-nothing investigation.  Now that it has become obvious, they know it is time to PANIC!!!  Now they are trying all sorts of things to distract the people.

They have no reason to fear though in the long run.  The media will do their part for them.  They will spread their lies as the farmer might spread feed for their animals.

Well, there is one thing some of the dummycrats need concern with.  Now that the investagation is over, the justice department can go after the real criminals.

The Barr Report

Those who have read any of my books will tell you I use my imagination.  Well, let me use a lot of imagination as I ask you a rhetorical question.  By the way, given the nature of the question, it will likely take a lot of imagination on your part too.

Imagine you go into work as you usually do.  Then, a little after lunch you get called in to see the boss.  He hands you a check and tells you that your services are no longer needed.

Most of us would be struck by the remark and right away, you would likely ask why.  It would stand to reason.  Most of us would want a reason.  Then he says, “I don’t want any child molesters working for me.”

“Impossible,” you say?  To be sure very unlikely, that is assuming you are not guilty.  Yet it would be very possible if it weren’t for one thing,  It is against the law for anyone to repeat anything that is said in a grand jury proceeding.

I am sure there are thousands of people who have served on grand juries and they know exactly what I am talking about.  The first thing I was told when I was selected was that I was not to repeat anything I heard during any of the sessions.  It is standard and one of the reasons is to keep things from happening as I described above.

You see, all sorts of accusations are made during those sessions, many of which are not true.  If someone made an accusation against you during a session, if they were allowed to repeat it, your reputation would be at risk and you might not even know where it came from.  By the way, the grand jury might not even be investigating you.  It might just be an offhand remark made by a witness who doesn’t like you.

It is one of at least three reasons that all proceedings are kept secret.  It protects the innocent person who is accused and others who are not being investigated.  It keeps your boss, your family and friends from being told the lie.  By the way, it even protects you if you are guilty.  Well, that isn’t totally true.  After all, you are innocent until you are convicted.  Nonetheless, I’m sure you get the idea.

I would say that those dummycrats are really stupid to demand the results of the Mueller Report including the minutes of the grand jury.  However, I am sure it is not stupidity.  I am sure they are well aware of the law.  I am sure it is covered during the first month or so of law school.  Therefore, I have to assume they want AG Barr to break the law.  Moreover, they clearly have no respect for the privacy of others.  They have no problems causing innocent people problems, embarrassment, or maybe even their job.  I have to assume it is just because they are dumb…and maybe a bit thoughtless as well.

Incidentally, even though most reporters are aware of the law, it would appear that few understand why.  I can sort of understand that.  Before I was selected for the grand jury, I didn’t know anything about it.  For that matter, I didn’t know what grand juries do.  Still, you would think professional reporters would take a few minutes to educate themselves.

It is true that the information can be made public by a judge, it is still a bad idea.  It sort of defeats the purposes of the law.

The Truth About McCain

President Trump leveled complaints at McCain a few times today.  Almost instantly, the news media, including most of the Fox News anchors, voiced their disgust.

Personally, I welcome the remarks.  More than that, I find them mild, considering what he deserves.  Some may say we should not speak badly of the dead.  I say, “Too bad.”  It is because of his stunt with the vote on Obama care that I am paying a thousand dollars a month for my wife’s health insurance.

By the way, it did not start there.  The man should have gone to prison.  “Over what?” you might ask.  May I suggest you look up the ‘Keating five?’  All five clearly broke the law.  All five benefited from their office.  All five caused severe damage to several savings and loans and got away with it.  He clearly did not feel guilty about taking advantage of his position.  Also, he decided to use his fame to run for senator, and later for president,

Might I remind you that McCain was a constant thorn in candidate Trumps side, even after he won the Republican nomination?  Then, even after President Trump assumed office, he was still a constant source of problems for the president and, may I say our country.

Okay.  He was a hero.  He did serve in Vietnam.  Actually, so did I.  Okay.  He was captured and spent five years in captivity.  Again, he was not alone.  Indeed, many never returned from the war.  Many lost arms or legs.  Some lost their sight.  Some returned disfigured.  He was not the only one to suffer.  What’s more, many accomplished far more and under enemy fire.

Many of them never received the accolades that McCain did.  Some were not greeted by cheering and waving as they returned to civilian life.  Many of them deserved the cheers and were mocked instead.

Most important; the main point; the one thing that should be most considered is the man’s record as a senator.  He proved positive that not all war heroes make good politicians.  He certainly would not have been a good president and he was horrible at campaigning for the job.  He let Obama walk all over him.  It was as if he did it on purpose.  It was as if it was prearranged that Obama was supposed to win and he was to stand out of the way.

If I had the opportunity, I would have said this and more to his face and, without hesitation, I would say this to any of his survivors.  Something tells me, if they would be honest with themselves, I wouldn’t be telling them anything new.

Some Hints on Avoiding Gun Tradgedies

Back in 1976, approximately, I heard a story in the news about a man who was killed by accident.  A woman who was licensed to carry had a .38 caliber pistol in her purse.  She casually put the purse on a counter and it went off, shooting the man next to her.

When I was in Vietnam and on guard duty, the officer-of-the-guard gave his thirty-eight to the sergeant-of-the-guard and told him to put it up.  Instead, he decided to horse around with it for a while and play quick-draw.

A marine ought to know better than that, especially a sergeant.  Accidentally, he shot another marine in the belly.  Last I heard, the man went into surgery.  I don’t know if he lived through it or not.

They were two tragic events that were preventable by following a few simple safety rules.  Every year there are more of them.

Don’t misunderstand.  I am not in favor of eliminating guns, certainly not in the Marines.  In fact, I am in favor of people being able to own guns and use them in their defense.  However, I would like to make known a few simple rules to avoid such tragedies.  First, in general, guns are not toys.  They should be respected and great care should be used for their handling and storage.

Specifically, for revolvers, the chamber under the hammer should be empty.  It means you have five instead of six bullets in the gun, but it is a small thing considering the safety factor.  It completely eliminates the possibility of the gun going off as the result of a jolt.  In the first example, it would mean not having to say she’s sorry.

Generally, the following should be followed with all guns.

  1. Until proven otherwise, all guns should be treated as if they are loaded.
  2. When proven to be unloaded, all guns should be treated as if they are loaded.
  3. Never point a gun at anyone or anything you don’t intend to shoot.
  4. Do not play with guns. If you want to play quick-draw, get a toy.
  5. Verify your target. That intruder just might be a friend or relative.  It has happened and it has caused immeasurable grief that will last a lifetime.
  6. Never threaten a person with a gun unless you are willing to use it. It is possible that your gun might be used on you.
  7. Finally, practice. It will improve accuracy and confidence.  Moreover, if you aim at one person, you don’t want to hit the person next to him… or behind him.

Remember, guns can be very permanent.  An accident with a gun can have permanent results.

“The New Green Deal?”

First, there is nothing new about communism.  It is as old as Marx, though it has been called by many different things.

Second, though it has been tried dozens of times, it has never succeeded.  I’m not saying it usually failed or even most of the time.  It has always failed.

Finally, it is a means to an end.  Vicious people have used it to gain control over people.  Stalin, might have been the first, but he was not the last.  In the name of the ideal society, he killed millions, many of them farmers.  Indeed, he killed more than Hitler.  History is full of people who promised the heaven and presented hell.  In each and every case, it has ended in a dictatorship where even thoughts are controlled.  What I say has been true 100% of the time.

In each case, those who rose to power climbed over the poor and abused.  A person would have to be blind to see that it is the same method they would like to use in the US.  Of course, they say they are different than the dictators.  Yet, they have no scruples.  They use lies, deception and trickery in every direction.  It is not to make things better for us, but rather to acquire power for them.  If they succeed, they will live in luxery while the rest of us suffer.  It is the pattern.  They don’t care about the poor and abused.  They are nothing more than tools.  When they have control, they will be worse off than before.  By the way, so will the rest of us.

Oxygen Generaters

I have come to the conclusion that oxygen generators are likely the greatest medical invention in recent history, though the name is a little misleading.  They don’t generate oxygen.  Oxygen is an element.  There is no way to create it or destroy it, that is, without resorting to fision or fusion.

Some call them oxygen concentrators.  You see theywork by filtering out the nitrogen in the air.  Once that is done, the vast remainder of what is left is oxygen.  The concentration is enough so that it is considered pure oxygen, though it does still contain some carbon dioxide and other trace gases.

Though the advantages of concentrators are many, some are not quickly noticed. Certainly, the tanks are heavier and don’t last as long. …but more than that, they are safer. Oxygen in its pure state is very dangerous. One small tank of oxygen can cause devistating damage.

Though oxygen does not burn, there are compounds that burn vigorously in the presence of pure oxygen. Steel wool smolders in normal atmosphere. In pure oxygen, it bursts into flames. A few hospitals have had blankets saturated with oxygen burst into fire. (one of many reasons to keep smoking from hospitals)
The concentrator pumps the oxygen only to the nose of the patient. This drastically reduces the volume of oxygen at any one time. Moreover, the concentrator does not increase the oxygen levels in the room. If you put an oxygen concentrator in a room and turn it up all the way, there will not be one bit more oxygen in the room, even after hours of letting it run. I must admit that the tanks generally don’t add much oxygen to a room, but they do add some.

Most people, however could care less about this aspect of the concentrators. The things are small, lightweight and simple to operate. Best yet, when plugged into a wall socket or cigarette lighter in a car, they will continue to run for months with little or no maintenence.

Although I don’t use them, nor do I know anyone that does, I would definately give this invention five stars, maybe six.
