News About Ads

It was on the news. The news is about the ads. They are publicly brandishing that they are bringing back the Clydesdales.

Now, I am wondering, just what is so newsworthy that Budwiser decided to make it news that… well, you get the point. As far as I know, it’s the first time it has been worthy of putting it on the news. As far as that goes, why should a network consider it worthy of a 5 minute news segment. Really. What is it that makes it news.

I like horses. I especially like Clydesdales. They are beautiful, noble animals. I am sure in the days of horses, they were especially good to have. It does somewhat make me wonder if they are sullying the poor animal’s nobility.

Then there’s the little question on the side, just how much did it cost them to put the big name former pro football players in their ad. I am not a former pro athlete. Nor am I a multi millionaire. But they still couldn’t pay me enough to advertise any Budwiser product, even if I drank any type of alcoholic beverage. The poor Clydesdales have no choice about their reputation. I do.

So do the former football players. I guess they care not about their reputations. It is no secret what the beer makers hope to accomplish. Clearly the players don’t mind. Clearly they are proud to let the world know they drink Bud Light and they endorse the previous ad. The one that cost the beer maker their millions.

As they say. It’s not the ad they repent of making. What they are concerned with is their profits…or rather the lack of them.

There ought to be a law

There was, at one time, a newspaper comic by the name. Maybe still is. It was one I looked forward to. Maybe I have one that should be added.

I keep seeing these adds on TV with men in military uniforms. Is there no law. There ought to be. Certainly they should not have men on active service in TV ads. Why should they be permitted to make it appear that way. It gives the appearance that they endorse that product.

I hope that is not true. I hope the government is not now or at any time doing such endorsements. It’s not right.

1 final word. Do not expect me to respond positively to such ads. Moreover, I would hope other veterans and active duty people will. I certainly hope that those now using such ads will cease. We who have fought should not be forced to appear to say things against what we believe.

THERE OUGHT TO BE A LAW! Why are there none?

Mind Readers

I am currently watching Columbo on COZI TV. They started running that commercial about wrinkles under the eyes, but then as I reached the remote the commercial changed suddenly. Do you suppose they read my mind? Do you suppose they didn’t like all the repetition.

Naw. Even I know better. Still, it does make a person wonder.

regardless , it was good not to listen to all that gibberish for the millionth time.

Auto Air-bags

History has proven them dangerous and not effective. Less injuries and deaths before them. It would be far better to build better stronger bumpers.

Already the lawyers are out suing the who make the air-bags and, of course they increased the cost of cars and insurance. I would say the only ones benefiting from them are those that make them but that isn’t true. It would seem the lawyers who really get the biggest advantage. Then again, isn’t that the way with everything? I am sure those trial lawyers just can’t wait to start suing the self-driving cars.

Wait a minute. They have all ready had a few court cases. Before it’s all over, they might put a stop to Self-driving automobiles before they get a real start. Them lawyers don’t care about much besides lining their pockets.

If you could un-invent something, what would it be?

Frank it Down

Just a Little question. Is anyone else ready for the frank it up commercial to go the way of the do-do bird. Actually, I was ready for it to disappear before it appeared.

Personally I don’t like spicy foods. No amount of advertising would ever gain my interest. Some folks just really know how to go about irritating me, and maybe others.

However, regardless of how many times I see the commercial, I can’t see the point of it. I mean, really, what does frank it up mean.

Temporary?

I worked with a man who disliked doing things on a temporary basis because more often than not the temporary has a tendency to become permanent.

Well, I guess this is certainly true for the big HOLLYWOOD sign. Just heard on the news it was put up for 18 months 100 years.

I suppose it has lasted longer than a fow things meant to be permanent. Now the sign has become somewhat iconic. I wonder if anyone knows how many movies the sign has been in. Moreover, I suspect it has been photographed by thousands. Who would have thunk?

Love Applebee’s Recent Christmas Commercials

It’s true. Oddly and rarely, it always ends too soon for me. It has all the good stuff. From the instant it is on the screen, I started getting hungry. Then there were all the Christmas decorations. Someone put a lot of work into that.

The music wasn’t my favorite, it was very appropriate and, as I said, it too ended too soon.

And then the train. As I said before, I love trains. In this case, it brought back memories. I had a train set like that.

Good job. For whatever it’s worth, you have my approval.

Medicare Hunting Season

Every year around this time, it becomes Medicare hunting season. The TV and radio stations must love it. Every 4th or 5th advertisement is someone trying to get me to call them, in hopes that I will choose their part C Medicare. Given the price of TV and radio time, the broadcasters must be making a fortune and a half.

They used to call me at least every other day. Actually, that is a good way to anger me. It is a very poor way to try to sell me anything on my phone. I don’t pay for TV ads; I do pay for my phone. You want to use my phone for ads, start paying my phone bill.

At any rate, apparently, I figured what to say to stop them from their phone persistence. After I said hello, the young woman started into her spill. I rudely interrupted, “I am 73. What makes you think you know more about Medicare than I do?”

She immediately hung up and it has been at least a year. Not so much as one call since.

NOW. If I could just figure out something as effective on TV. I am open to suggestions. I am getting tired of that Martha woman with the big glasses acting as if she’s the expert. To me, she’s just a high paid actor, and I wonder if even the glasses are a prop.

The 64 Dollar Question

Over and over they ask Israel why won’t they do more to protect civilians?

For me, their inquiry is of the wrong leaders. Why don’t they ask the Humas to do more to protect the civilians. Maybe, perhaps, possibly, we could settle for doing less to put the lives of civilians in jeapardy. Has it ever occurred to the Israeli accusers to ask the cowardly Humas soldiers to stop hiding behind babies and old women.

Of course they’d not even consider it. They’d not like the results. It would put the truly violent people in the proper light. After all, one of the jobs of the media is to aid their friends, horrid as their actions are.

Learned Something Today

I learned something this morning. It wasn’t all that important, I don’t guess. I suppose it might be. Considering the condition of the conditions, it could have a real priority.

As an aside, did I mention a time or two that I really dislike drive throughs. I really thought I knew all the reasons. I mean, let’s face it, it is where all the going green folks go and burn gas, with a supposed good reason. They really do have these very big reasons to go along with their very big cars for not going inside to order.

Incidentally, you ever think about all those neat close spaces taken up by the approaches to the windows. Did you ever notice that 3 orders will generally go out the drive through window for each one over the counter.

Well, I guess that’s neither here nor there. I have little or no control over it. It is something established by the business, not me.

Nonetheless, I rose early this morning to have my almost new car worked on. It had a recall. Nothing major. In order to make sure they could get to me, I arrived promptly at 7.

So, once they had the car, I went into my favorite past time…waiting. Then, I saw a Wendy’s down the hill, easy walking distance.

Then I considered. Yup. I distinctly remember Wendy’s ads about really great breakfastds. And I remembered something about a wide selection.

So, I trapse down the hill and across the little street. I made the mistake about letting my hopes build. However, right there on the door, it said dinning room open mon thru thur, 7 to 11. I took a breath. I gave the door a tug, but it wouldn’t open.

Disappointed, I let go of the door. It was then it donned on me. I should have bought my breakfast on the way in. Then I could have eaten it while they worked on my car.

Naturally, the drive through was open, but I had no car.

Well, it is likely just as well. I don’t like Wendy’s and I did learn the lesson. Besides, on the way home, I did have a real breakfast at Waffle House. They had no drive through.
