Let’s Keep the Proper Perspective

if Trump had remained in office, the price of oil would have remained $30 a barrel or less. Putin would not have been able to afford to attack Ukraine. Iran would not have had the money to back HAMAS and other Israel haters. Hence, there would have been no war in the Middle East. China would not be causing us grief with drugs and Nationalist China (Fomosa).

We would not have illegal immigrants running across the border and they would not be killing our citizens by the tens of thousands. (via drugs and in other ways)

Finally, we would not have new insurgents of diseases such as measles, TB and likely a few others.

Of course, the dems don’t care. All they wanted to do was to get the orange man out of office, and why. Just what damage did he do, other than to those who hate the US and our Constitution?

The fact is, the only people he hampered were those who were seeking power and money.

That Sounds Like Fun

Just heard over the radio about someone who taught people how to ride horses. Now I must admit, that does sound like a bunch of fun.

In fact, I think I would really like that. Of course there are a few things in the way. I don’t have any horses. I have no space for riding them. Also I might be a tad to old…pushing 80.

Then there is the main problem. 1st I would need to learn how to ride. Did always have an interest learning.

Irregardless, it does sounds like a lot of fun.

Gun Semi-fobia

Tennessee is considering permitting well trained teachers to carry guns. I do not live in Tennessee and I have no business telling them one way or the other. However I am well aware of the fact that this world does have many have who have a semi-fear of guns. As long as they are the ones using them, they have no fear of them. On the other hand their fobia keeps them well away when others have guns and know when and how to use them.

Me, if if were a kid, I’d feel much safer in a school where the teachers could protect me from those with gun semi-fobia.

An Interesting Thought

Actually It spawns a number of thoughts. Consider for a while, what is my favorite movie? That was a prompt a while back.

No, I am not getting off the subject, not at all. You see, one of my favorite movies is “Finian’s Rainbow.” By the way, if my memory serves me, I didn’t list it as I should have.

In the movie, there was a song in which the main line was, “When I’m not near the girl I love, I love the girl l’m near.” If I might digress for a short time longer, it really had a catchy tune and wonderful lyrics. It was really popular for a while. If you haven’t heard it, please look it up.

Now, back to restaurants. When I am in Abbay’s I love it. There are 4 or 5 good things on the menu and it is just almost impossible to find a seat before it’s ready. McDonald’s can’t hold a candle to that fast service.

When I am in McCalister’s, it is my favorite. I love McCalister’s more than all the rest. It has a wide variety to choose from, and it makes so difficult to choose. The wife and I always order their potato soup, regardless of what else we get, unless it is the roast beef on baked potato. Not only is that redundant but too much to eat at one time.

I think there are many people in the area that think Huey’s is the best. They are famous for thehamburgers but I am partial to the shrimp and steak on a stick. If you like your French fries thick and piping hot, you’ll like you’ll like it here. I love the place and my mouth has often been burnt by the fries. You’d think I would learn.

I imagine you have figured it out by now. When I’m not in the restaurant I love, I love the restaurant I’m in. However, you’ll not find me in a McDonald’s anymore. 15 minutes for a lukewarm Big Mac is not my idea of a restaurant I love.

By the way, Dale’s is another of my favorites. They have excellent food at a decent price and pleasant settings. However, Dale’s is one of those fine restaurants that was really hit by the virus. I still guess I will have to call it my favorite. They have hamburger steak covered with gravy, onions and bell peppers… well, it’s beyond description.

Highly Predictable

The minimum wage for fast food workers in the state represented by the big brown grizzly, went to $20 an hour. Surprise, surprise. Suddenly, many restaurants were closed. Strange as it may seem many former employees were left in tears when they arrived at work only to find they were unemployed. Instead of making the 20 they expected they were making zip.

Some were let go. Some of the places they worked shuttered their doors. So, of course, instead of making a living wage, they contemplating how they were going to make the next car payment.

Some places, I assure you, remain open. People will find places to eat, but they will pay more for less.

Now, how do you suppose I figured this would happen. It’s the modified law of supply and demand. If I charge tooooo much for my work, no one will pay for my work.

Stop the World: I Want to Get Off

It is the catchy title of a 1966 musical/comedy. I was just out of high school when it hit the theaters on the west coast. About the only thing I know about it is that the song, What Kind of Fool am I? came from.

As things have unfolded the last few days I was reminded of the title. I was starting to think the title was written for me.

Teaching People How to Read

Actually, in a way. I am already doing something without payment. No one is paying me to write these posts, leastwise none that I know of. Actually it is costing me in equipment and fees

However, given the opportunity, I would like to teach people how to read. It doesn’t look like I’ll get the chance though.

What job would you do for free?

How to Fight a War

Seems to me Prem. Benjamin Natenyahu has shown Old Joe how to wage a war aand he doesn’t seem to appreciate the lesson.

Side note: Old Joe seems awful upset about those killed by Israel by accident, but how quickly he forgot the civilians at the the airport in Afghanistan. How quickly he left thousands behind as he ordered our military to turn tail and run.

It is why I call him Old Joe. it is the title and name he earned.

The Three Point Basket

In 1979, NBA basketball players started making the 3 pointers. Why? I don’t know. I tried to look it up. I am very sure it it is documented somewhere.

I do know a thing or two about it. The ABA was the first to use it. It does seem to equalize things. It does somewhat offset the slam dunk.

Moreover, they had to change the defense some. It pulls some players away from hoop a bit and, maybe opens the inside a little. Also, it would seem a good shooter becomes a threat almost the instant he crosses the center line. I do wonder how many points Jerry West or Oscar Robinson would have had if they might have been able shoot three pointers. It might have changed the outcome of games or even seasons.

It also distorts the statistics. Recently, 2 records were broken. Highest woman’s points fell first, then men’s.

I noticed that whenever it was announced that Pistol Pete’s record fell, they quickly followed by saying it was before the 3 pt shot.

It prompted a thought for me. They were playing a different game with different rules. It does make me wonder about the new record.

To be sure, all professional games change. May I note that the NFL has had a change. It will effect the stats. It has to. There will be far more attempts at kickoff returns. That in itself is a significant statistic.

So, it is important to be careful about changes in the games. Poor Babe Ruth lost his record because they added a few games to the season. Hence, the asterisk has been added to the stats. Now we have asterisks all through the record books.

It is already difficult enough to compare players of different times. It does make me wonder with the little time limits rules changes that they are playing with in baseball. That one already directly effects one stat, game times.

I’m sure at least the umps will appreciate that.
