Cold & Flu

I really like Alka-Seltzer Plus. It works. Usually I by the little green or red pills. They are easy to swallow and I don’t need to mix them with water. Made a mistake a few days ago. I bought the powder. My wife was feeling bad and her nose was stuffy.

Well, I tell you, I knew just what to do. I got out the Alka-Seltzer and opened the box, then I realized my mistake. The powder came in an envelope. The envelope has instructions on it, mainly warnings and cautions. I got out my reading glasses. Not enough. Held the envelope under a light. Not enough. Scrounged around and found a magnifying glass and finally read the instructions.

The instructions, by the way are simple. Mix contents of envelope in eight ounces of warm water. It was panic time again. I don’t have anything in the house for measuring water in ounces. I know this for a fact because I looked about everywhere.

Finally, I went to the computer. Glad I have some access to the internet. By the way, 8 ounces is one cup. You might want to remember that. It just might come in handy one day.

At any rate, I’m glad it was just a stuffy nose and achy muscles. I’d hate to think if it were something a little more important.

Well, you will be glad to know. It worked. My wife can breathe easy again and she is sleeping well. Thank you, Alka-Seltzer. But next time, can you please mark things a little more plainly. Not everyone who takes these meds have perfect vision. A small parenthetical (8 oz) would have come in handy too.

I’m going to need to get me a bigger magnifying glass. How small is that print anyway. I don’t even think it is four points. Maybe 2. I wonder if the Chairman of the board can read that print. I wonder if he ever tried.

Why Old Joe

From time to time, I think I need to re-explain the title. I have before but that was a long time ago. Some have forgotten why, some never knew. Not everyone goes back through all my posts to see what I said years ago. Okay. I admit it. No one does, though they really should.

The way I think of it, some people just don’t deserve to be called president. Old Joe is one of them. When he gave the command to leave Afghanistan as he did, people died. Girls who had been going to school, with out encouragement, suffered and some died. Translators, who we made deals with, were left in the lurch. Many of them died.

It is quite conceivable that in the turmoil, many of the enemy boarded our aircraft and ended up on our shores. Biden abandoned an airbase just a few miles away from the Chinese border. That was a double whammy. We abandoned supplies that those friendly to the US could have used. Instead, the enemy had them, as well as the Chinese. The only way I could figure that one was that it was intentional. After all, his son, who Joe did not know what Hunter was doing made many deals with the Chi-coms. Can we say, maybe, possibly, he just might have known what he was doing, though, over and over he tried to convince us otherwise.

Then, afterward…after it was done, Old Joe stood in front of the whole world and lied. he said that he would not abandon any US citizens left behind. Yeah. Now we all know that wasn’t just a lie but a blatant lie. How quickly it is all forgotten by most. Not by me. It is why he has no respect from me, not even for his office, which, by the way, he acquired illegally. He occupies the Oval Office, but he is by no means my president. If I were still in the corps, at the risk of being disciplined, I would not have saluted him. I suspect there are many who agree with me on that.

A president who does not respect his armed forces certainly does not deserve the respect the men in the armed forces. And of course, he drummed good men out of the armed forces for not taking a shot that was not proven, even suspect. For that reason alone the man ought to spend the rest of his days in the hoosegow. I assure you, if I could speak to him, face to face, I would tell him all this. Moreover, I know I am not alone in this.

The dems are just as guilty as he. They watched all this and still give him their support. Just what are they thinking?

I Know Nothing Defense

Old Joe has decided to use the old “I know nothing.” defense for years now. Of course the words were made famous by John Banner in the character of Sgt Schultz on the relatively popular Hogan’s Heroes. Of course it was not always the same. Sometimes it was, “I hear nothing.” or “I see nothing.”

For quite a while now, it appeared that the method was going to work for Old Joe but here lately, it would appear that the defense is starting to fall apart. That is to say, it is developing cracks. Like, “If you knew nothing, why did you keep getting money from Hunter’s business deals.” “Why does Hunter complain that Pops keeps taking half of it.” “If you know nothing, why are you so quick to deny anything to do with what Hunter does or says.”

Actually, the defense is far older than Hogan’s Heroes. I don’t know who first used the defense but it started with the words, “Plausible deniability.” It is at least as old as Al Capone and I am sure he learned of it from some of his friends. The idea is simple. You let the thugs do all the bad stuff and you never soil your fingers with it. If your thugs get caught, they are punished and you go free. You provide a good lawyer for the thugs. If they get convicted, no big deal. They get a big payoff when they leave the big-house.

This one just might have a few twists though. I don’t think Hunter likes the idea of going to prison. Before he is locked up, we just might find out how well he sings.

There is one other aspect that is different. Old Joe just might not outlive the deal. After all he is getting old. He is losing his mind. Even if Hunter does turn state’s evidence, Old Joe just might be found incapable of assisting in his defense. You can’t convict a man like that. At best, you can confine him to a place where… hum m. Just where do you confine folks who are guilty but you can’t prove it. The old man just might get away with it yet. He just might have a big laugh from that old folks home, the one with the view and the eight-man staff just for him. That is of course, beside the secret service agents.

Will God Destroy The US for Her Sin?

That is a good question. I wish I could give you a simple straight forward reply. However, I am not a prophet. God has not told me. I did have a couple of pages addressing this thought but then I realized that I don’t need so many words.

Fact 1: He can do it if He wants. We have been forewarned and we have certainly had our chances.

Fact 2: He doesn’t have to. We are doing a pretty good job of it by ourselves.

Fact 3: The natural result of sin is destruction. If God takes his hands off this country, destruction will quickly follow. Only his mercy will spare us.

Fact 4: As a nation, we have turned our backs on God. I know of no reason that He should not turn his back on us.

Bottom line: If we maintain this course we can count on destruction whether He causes it or sits back and watches. It does not take a prophet to see that.

EV Police Cars?

One consideration we must eventually face is going to total EV police departments. I mean the police do buy their vehicles from those available. The design of the dems is to get gas and diesel vehicles off the road.

There will be problems, you know. Assuming the police car has a 300 mile range, that’s just about 6 hours of driving time. In addition, some time should be reserved for the possible chase, or simply the 911 call near the end of the shift.

In addition, police cars generally need more electric power anyway. Also, hopefully, the police cars should be a little better than non police cars.

Another thing to take note of is that while a car is being charged, it will be out of service. Typically, this might mean a 50 thousand dollar auto will be out of service during recharging. This would likely mean one additional car would be needed for each 6 cars needed for a police department.

And, of course, after solving these problems for EV police cars, we will need to start working on ambulances and fire trucks. By the way, has anyone started thinking of all the charging stations that will be needed?

I hope someone has given some thought about the loading on the electric grid. I mean, I know those police cars and fire trucks will need to be changed, but I assure you I also need my air conditioning. I won’t be the only one.

Success

I have had no formal training as an evangelist. If I were fortunate enough to address an audience of a hundred and 3 of them made decisions to accept Jesus as their savior, I would consider it a success. If it were 5, I would be ecstatic.

I guess most preachers would hope for something greater than that; maybe 10 or 12. I mean, when the plan of salvation is presented, it is usually rejected. I really don’t have the foggiest idea why. It is really a good thing to accept Jesus as your savior. Yet, many reject him. I suspect, mostly the things of this world are more important to them than their eternal souls.

Well, some have better success than others. Billy Graham certainly had his success. He had a mostly simple straightforward way to present the plan of salvation and certainly God did his part. Paul, the one who wrote much of the New Testament presented the gospel to his thousands, and in a way, he is still helping to persuade people to accept the Lord today through the printed word.

A person might ask, who could possibly be more successful than that? Yet there is one, percentage-wise, who has us all beat. Moreover, he had a very simple sermon. “Forty more days and Nineveh will be overthrown.” Simple and straightforward as it was, it apparently had 100% effectiveness. Everyone who heard the words repented and worshiped God.

Wow! I wish I could have that kind of success. However, there were two more things that made the conversion different. First, Jonah did just about all he could to keep it all from happening. He hated the people of Nineveh and he did not want to see them saved. In other words, perhaps the most successful preacher in history wanted to be an outright failure. Secondly, when the people repented God relented and did not destroy the city. Now that angered Jonah and he pitched a fit. (my interpretation)

In essence, it appeared God used Jonah’s rebellion for success. After all, it was very likely that the people of that great city knew of Jonah and what all he went through to keep from going to the city. When they saw Jonah arrive, when they all saw the sad expression on Jonah’s face, the people likely decided that God did really did mean it and that if they didn’t repent something bad was going to happen.

Now, that was success. Oddly, it was his determination to fail that made it succeed. It does make me wonder. What would have happened if Jonah would have done as he was told immediately. Maybe his success would have been 80% or 70%. I don’t know. It’s a guess and likely not a good one. Maybe, had Jonah done as he was told, no one would have listened and the city would have been destroyed, which was the very thing Jonah wanted.

At any rate, the people of that great city backslid and went back to their previous ways. Then, God did as he said he would. The city was destroyed so badly that some doubted the story of Jonah. No one could find the city. Then, one day they did. They not only found proof of its existence but also of its destruction. I have no idea if Jonah lived to see it or not. At any rate, those people did have their second chance and they ignored it.

I just wonder, how much is God going take from the US before he destroys this great country? At this point, I’m not sure we are not that much better than Nineveh. How long will God allow us to ignore his messengers and destroy the US?

Just as He destroyed that great city, He can also destroy this great nation. He needs no one’s permission and He need not send any warnings. We have the examples of the Bible. If we ignore them, then we will likely ignore any other warnings.

Certainly, one of those things that He will not overlook is the killing of babies. Children are very special to Him. Calling it family planning does not make it look one iota better to Him

The Definition of Fast Food

A while ago, we went to a restaurant that looked nice. We decided to go in and try it, El Agave Mexican Restaurant in Southaven on Airways. Once inside we were shown to a table and given a menu. Roughly six or seven minutes after turning in our order, we had it sitting in front of us, hot and steaming. We weren’t timing it so we don’t know exactly. However, we were both surprised at how fast it was. The food was better than I expected and there was plenty.

Then, the really surprising part. The bill was but about $23. I’m sure most will spend more there but the wife and I don’t drink alcoholic beverages. I don’t know, but they might have given us a senior’s discount. The staff was really friendly and professional.

I’m thinking why would anyone want to go to McDonald’s when there are places like this. I mean, it seemed they had their own definition of fast food. If McDonald’s wants to stay in business, they might want to take note. They have a really nice place providing competition. I might say Wendy’s should take note of it too. All the ads in the world will do little to cover up poor service, especially with the prices as they are.

Incidentally, I rarely leave a five dollar tip, but this time I did. I didn’t consider that too much even though it was nearly 25% of the cost of the meal. The food and service was that good. If I wasn’t living on Social Security, I would have left seven dollars.

Reference, My post “What’s in a Name” this date

In my previous post, I said I could not find the quote. Well I did. It was on CNN by Dana Bash. Others might have said it too, but, according to Fox News and the Internet, she did make the statement though I did not get it exact.

What she said was “Taking politics aside, if you change the name from Hunter Biden to Joe Smith, you would say, ‘You know what, that’s not fair.'”

Truth is if his name was Joe Smith, all those from other countries would not have given him 20 million. Fact is, it was because his name was Hunter Biden that he got all the money. It was because he relied on the name while he made the deals. If his name had been Joe Smith, he would not have been able to make two cents.

That is why it is a bribe. That is why it is and should be illegal. That is why both he and his father ought to take up residency in a federal pen. However, it is because of reporters like Dana Bash that they likely won’t. That’s okay. They won’t get away with it. Whatever they don’t pay for in this life, they will suffer for in the next. By the way, that goes for the Dana Bashes (reporters) of the country. They will pay for their part too. They know that they are all part of the aiding and abetting squad. They all know that they have all taken their part in false witnessing.

What’s in a Name?

Just heard a quote from the White House, sorry I don’t know who. I tried to look it up but couldn’t find it. Maybe those who run the internet decided it was a good idea to remove it. At any rate the woman said that if you change Hunter’s last name to Smith, no one would pay any attention to anything he did.

The micro-second question to the statement is simple. How many Smiths are there in this world that have made 20 million dollars doing nothing. I submit, Indeed, Hunter used his last name to make the money… by doing nothing.

Moreover, if someone by the name of Smith did make his fortune the way Hunter Biden did, he’d have been behind the big walls years ago. In fact, I doubt there are many Smiths that would try such a thing. Hunter does it because he knows he is protected by Pops. However, if things keep collapsing, even Pops might not be able to protect him. Pops just might not be able to protect himself. I am actually somewhat surprised that one of his puppeteers has asked him to step aside already. Then again, all they need is a puppet to accomplish their goal. However, they do need one that does not keep falling down and asleep.
