A Whole Lot of Colluding Going On!

I turned the news on this morning and it seemed like every everywhere I looked, I kept hearing… what’s the word now?  Oh yes, impeach.  By evening I was downright tired of it.  Mostly, it was news broadcasters, but there were a few representatives too.  It sort of makes me wonder if the news media is running the country.

It would seem they all just can’t wait until the dems take over the house and get a chance to impeach President Trump.  It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.  Even if they did impeach him, it would take a 2/3 super-majority in the Senate to convict and remove him from office.  (Guess what.  I learned that when I was still in grade school.  It would seem there are a few news commentators that still don’t know it, or just found out after making an idiot of themselves, coast-to-coast.)  Regardless, that’s not going to happen.  Even if it does, I actually think that they will be jumping right out of the frying pan into the fire.  VP Pence is much more conservative than President Trump.  Planned Parenthood might as well close down all their offices because they won’t be getting any more federal funds if Mr. Pence has anything to say about it.

Anyway, I started figuring things out.

First, they know they can’t remove anyone from office.  Even they can figure it out, as long as they have a little help.  They just don’t want President Trump fixing (as in repair) anything else.  They don’t want him settling things with North Korea, China, Russia or Iran.  That would make them, look very bad.  They don’t want him to build his wall.  Need I explain it.  Making him look bad is their only hope of beating him in 2020.  I have seen people like that all my life: make the other guy look bad in hopes it will make them look good.  If he does half of what he wants to do, the dems will have nothing but egg on their faces and they won’t like that.  Everything that they said he couldn’t do he would do, even with them standing in the way.

Second, I noticed that they not only use the same word, they like to use the same phrase.  It is as if unknown villain is writing the script each morning from behind the scenes.  Speaking of scripts, I wonder who is doing their writing.  I can only assume that the dems and the liberal press alike have been doing some serious colluding and I would like to know who is leading the orchestra.

I probably won’t be able to do a thing about it, but it would be nice to know anyway.

If you would like to visit my author’s page and look through the 35+ books I have there, I won’t mind.  Also, should you want to tell your friends about the books, I won’t mind that either.  Even more, I won’t even mind if you tell your enemies.  Please note that there is an underscore between story and teller which you might have trouble seeing.

The Problems with Tyrants

“From each according to his ability, to each according to each according to his need.”  Many attribute the above quote to the Bible.  It shows how little they know about the Bible.  It also shows that they don’t have much knowledge of history.  The quote is from Karl Marx in 1875.  It is part of his concept of communism.  It was part of his plan for world wide paradise.

Since then, it has been tried many times without success.  In the USSR it was tried, failed and then modified. The government that the Soviet Union lived under was not communism.  Quickly, they realized that true communism won’t work.

To fix the problem, they came up with a leader, a tyrant.  Then China tried communism and, again, they modified it.  They appointed a leader who was, believe it or not, a tyrant.  Cuba tried communism.  Again, their leader was a tyrant.

Have you noticed the pattern?  To make communism work, it takes a leader.  Invariably, the leader must be a tyrant.  Even then, it doesn’t work.  Central government doesn’t work.  It is horribly inefficient.  People make decisions who are inept.  (as an example, people in one location is oversupplied [resulting in spoiled food] while in other locations people starve.)  People who are lazy don’t work without taskmasters.  Why should they?  They don’t receive any reward for their efforts.  If they do nothing, they still get their share.  Finally, the tyrants ride in limos and private jets while the rest of the population walk or ride in horse carts.  The tyrants eat caviar while the public has a meager diet of beans and, if they are lucky, a little bread.

It is exactly what the dems complain about in the US. Yet most of us have healthy diets, a roof over our heads and even air-conditioning.  Then again, I guess there isn’t much need for air-conditioning in Moscow.

I guess that the communism might stand halfway succeed as capitalism if the leader were a good person.  The problem is that tyrants are tyrants.  The only people they think about are themselves and a small circle of those around them.  If you have any doubts about what I am writing about, ask those in North Korea.

Oh.  Yest that’s right.  You can’t.  The tyrant running the country won’t let you.

If someone tells you how wonderful socialism works, you might want to consider the above.  You might want to think about how well it is working in Venezuela (also ruled by a tyrant).  You might want to ask them to name one country where socialism works.

You might also think about how well Obama Care has worked here.  I’m not sure this country will ever recover from that one.  I know I won’t.

A Few Words About Deceit

Some time ago, I heard a public service announcement (PSA) that 50% of all car accidents involving fatalities were caused by a drunk driver. More recently, I heard another PSA that it is now 30%. Given this info and only this info, a person might suggest that we get all the sober drivers off the road. They are causing almost three-fourths of fatal accidents.

I call it flawed logic, where a person makes a decision based on incomplete information. The information, as such is correct, just not complete.

I once heard a preacher say, “Deceit and the truth cannot coincide.” Certainly what he said was and is true. Where the problem comes is when part of the truth is withheld. It is on this that deceivers base their craft. Over time, I have formed four rules for deceit.
1. The person easiest to deceive is yourself.
2. To deceive someone else, you must keep at least part of the truth from that person. (The same goes for a group of people.)
3. People are egotistical. When you tell a person how wonderful they are, they are more likely to believe you. Besides, they are more likely to like you.
4. Lies are not required for deceit. Notice, in the above example, I did not lie to you, but I did leave out an important part of the truth. Therefore, I convinced you to keep the sober drivers off the road. (Hopefully, you had enough common sense not to swallow that one.

Yet people are deceived every day by things just as obvious. Many years ago, New York wanted a lottery to pay for the schools. They managed to pass the law by saying that it would be completely for the schools. The deceit lies in a little word, fungible. That means, once the government has our money, they can use it for what ever they want. It’s just a matter of bookkeeping. Today, they aren’t even trying to fool anyone. They have come right out and admitted it. The schools, of course got very little of it. Now they get none of it.

Nowadays, there are people who would like us to believe that a wall on our southern border will not help. Never mind our common sense. Never mind the fact that people put fences around buildings all the time to keep people out. Guess what? It works. Moreover, the walls are permanent. An election won’t erase them.

It is, of course obvious that torture doesn’t work. Guess what? It does. Ask the Russians. They have a lot of experience at it. Do I advocate torture? Only when the lives of thousands of people are at risk. A little discomfort for one verses the lives of millions… not a difficult choice. By the way, telling the enemy I don’t torture is probably a bad idea.

Now, after our president held a meeting with Kim, the bulk of the media are trying to make it sound like a failure. It might end up being a failure. The president himself said so. That is no reason for the vast majority of the media to rain on his parade. If nothing else, it undercuts the chances of success. Then again, the media does not want him to succeed. For them it is the worst of all possibilities. If it should succeed, it would guarantee his re-election. It would also mean the big blue wave would turn red.

I do find it absurdly humorous the contortions the news anchors go through to make the effort look bad. It is casual to the most obvious observer that what happened is good and they are doing their best to make it look bad. I look forward to seeing what they do should they get rid of the atomic weapons and build hotels along the beachfront of North Korea. Maybe the best thing for them to do would be to go and rent a room at one of the new hotels and spend the rest of their lives there. If they stay here, they might still have jobs, but no one will listen to them.

On the other hand, if the effort fails, they will be sure to make the most of it. After all, failure is what they want, even if it means the loss of millions of lives. I do find this a little ironic. They don’t like a little torture, but all those lives mean so little to them.

It is time to look beyond the deceit and use a little common sense. It is time to look at all the facts, not just the ones that are convenient to the media.

A Plausible Solution for the Problem With North Korea

I was watching the news this morning, about the meeting.  As I watched, a thought occurred to me.  I wonder what would happen if we offered Mr. Kim a billion dollars and a home on some South Pacific island.

Okay, it’s a long shot.  He would likely turn it down in a millisecond.  Still, I was in South Korea for one miserable week.  I know something about the weather there.  I have no idea how it was that we were able to fight a war there.  It gets cold there, especially at night.  Tell you the truth, I have no idea how anyone can live there.

Considering the weather, Kim just might like the idea of going somewhere warm.  A billion dollars would certainly look pretty good too.  So we offer him a billion dollar check, a deed to a big estate and a one way ticket.  If it doesn’t work, nothing is lost.

On the other hand, if he accepts, the two Koreas could be reunited.  The world would be free of another nut armed with nuclear weapons and no one would be killed.  Oh… and by the way, a few million people could actually start eating regular.  If it worked, it would be a bargain at four times the price.

Who knows?  If it works we can try it on Kumani, and then what’s his name?  The one that likes to go around without a shirt in Russia.  Who says money won’t buy happiness.  If it worked, a whole world would be very happy.  Then again, it is unlikely to work.

All those people are controllers.  They would rather starve than to give up an ounce of control over their people, even though they know they are causing starvation.  I don’t think I like these guys.  I cannot understand how anyone could like these guys.  Yet, in spite of the millions they kill, they have their followers… even in this country.  Now that’s stupid.

A Quick Question

I heard Dennis Rodman is going to join the meeting in Singapore.  I guess that’s alright, but I wonder if someone knows a way to keep him there.

On a more serious note, the demilitarized zone has become a refuge for animals.  I would hope that it can be arranged to keep it a protected area for them should this whole thing get settled.

I’m not a tree huger.  It just seems to me to be a good thing.  Maybe if you think so, you might tell a friend or two.

My Name is Ben Rhodes

My Name is Ben Rhodes (Benjamin F Rhodes).  The name has been mine for seventy years.  Before me, it was my grandfather’s name.  Please do not confuse me with Benjamin J Rhodes, who was a former member of Obama’s staff.

When I started seeing the Obama staffer drag my name through the swamps of DC, I considered altering the way I sign my name.  I considered my cousin’s approach.  Though he had the same name as me, Benjamin Franklin Rhodes, he went by Frankie.  I didn’t even know we shared names until I was in my forties.

I also considered simply adding my middle initial.  (Ben F Rhodes)  That would differentiate me from the man, but the way I figure it, it was my name first.  If anyone should have to make any changes, he should.  Indeed, I believe he owes me an apology, ruining my name as he has.

Sometimes, I wonder if people attribute my books to him when they see my name on my books.  By the way, I started writing books back in 1990 or there abouts.  I don’t think he was writing almost thirty years ago.

I will admit that he has had a little more success than I have, but that doesn’t mean his books are any better.  I must admit, I have not read any of his books, but given his political views, how can they be anywhere near as good as mine?  He just has the inside track with his liberal friends.

If I were to write the man and register my complaint, I doubt he would read it.  If he did, he’d likely do more than laugh, if that.  So I guess I’m just stuck.  But I assure you, I’ll not change my name I put on my books.  However, I just might start putting some kind of disclaimer (if that’s what it is called) to let the reader know that I am not that left winger who has no idea of reality.

By the way, lest we forget, the communists are responsible for far more deaths than the Nazis and WWII Japanese.

  1.  The Vietnamese communists alone, in spite of the small size of the country, murdered over a million of their own citizens.  Had it not been for those that escaped, the number would have likely been close to twice that.
  2. The North Korean’s, even now, are trying to hold the world at hostage.  Might I add, with the help of the Chinese and Russians.
  3. The Red Chinese murdered, likely, as many or more than Hitler.
  4. There is no telling how many the Russian communists slayed, not to mention the vast number of those improperly imprisoned or driven from the country.

Do I mean to imply that Ben J Rhodes is a communist?  I don’t know the man’s mind, only what he does and his friends. From that, I must conclude that his ideas are very close to Carl Marx, who, by the way, was the first communist.

By the way, at least I have the only website, BenRhodes.blog.  I got it first and Ben J. Rhodes can’t have it, even if he is better known.

Unintended Consequences

When I was in the eighth grade, I made the trip from California to Arkansas to see my brother, a Republican.  During my stay with him, he and his wife were going to vote in the Democrat primary.  At that time, it served no purpose to vote in the Republican primary.  There was but one Republican running and he wasn’t likely the win the general election.
I suggested that he vote for the worst of those running among the Democrats.  It seemed to me a good way to give the Republican an advantage.  He told me he was going to vote for the best Democrat.  That confused me until he told me why.  “What if the worst Democrat wins?”

To be sure, during the recent presidential primaries, Donald Trump was not my favorite.  Although I did like his promises, he was an unknown.  I didn’t know if he would follow through on the promises.  Moreover, he had no government experience.  My favorite was Senator Cruz.  Not only did he think as I did, but he had already proved himself several times.
I did find it interesting that one by one dropped out, seemingly determined on the way they felt about illegal immigration.  Those that liked the idea of just opening the borders were taken out in the first round.  Some of those didn’t even last until the first debate.

What I didn’t understand at the time was the way the media backed Trump.  Anyone who has a memory knows this to be true.  Despite this, Senator Cruz almost overtook Trump.
Then, after the primary was settled, the media turned against Candidate Trump.  One day, he was their darling.  The next day they spoke of him as if he were a monster.
Then it became apparent to me what the media was doing.  They were using the trick I suggested to my brother and helped the worst candidate in order to help Hillary win.  What they didn’t know was that their decision had unintended consequences.  Not only did Candidate Trump beat her soundly, but he has turned out to be a very good president.

Certainly, as a Christian, I don’t like his language, especially in front of small kids.  Nonetheless, he is keeping his promises far better than I expected.  If we had a few more good Republican senators, I am sure he would keep his promises far better.  Just maybe, I would not be spending a thousand dollars a month for my wife’s health insurance.
More than this, he has become the Dems worst nightmare, a success.  As he has decreased regulations and lowered taxes, the economy has taken off, the unemployment has dropped and the Dems are beside themselves.  There has been a drop in those streaming across our border and there are even some rinos angered.  Their source of low wage employees is drying up.

Now I realize the Dems had one thing in common with me, their underestimate of President Trump.  Now they will have unintended consequences.  If we have 4% growth (likely more) the Dems will realize a significant drop in their number of fans, especially among those living in the rust belt.  This will be true in spite of how strongly the press beats up on President Trump and how much they try to help the Dems.  It will be obvious to one and all that the Dems were wrong all the time.

One thing I still don’t understand.  Why do the African Americans like the Dems?  They haven’t done anything for them.  Indeed, many of the things they have done have hurt them.  They worst thing they have done is to insist on backing an organization that had its foundation in trying to eradicate the Black race.  Margaret Sanger founded Family Planning for that express purpose.  I suspect, though they won’t admit to it, it is likely still one of their purposes.  Please don’t take my word for it.  Look it up.

Now, the Dems want to stand in the way of building a wall.  I can’t understand that.  I lock my door.  It helps keep the bad guys out.  A wall helps keep the bad guys out.  It helps keep the drugs out.  This is true no matter who the next president is.  On the other hand, if all we have is a virtual wall, that can go away as a matter of policy.  It went away while President Obama was in office and, to a lesser degree while President Bush was in office.
It is important to realize that building the wall even helps the illegal immigrants.  Many die sneaking into our country.  Many young women are raped.  Countless numbers of them end up working in sweatshops or brothels.  Of course, as payment for their passage, many are forced to carry drugs.  That’s not good for them or us.
I’m tired of hearing about comprehensive immigration.  We were promised a wall twice.  They were empty promises.  The way I figure it, they owe us the wall, not promises.  The way I figure it, the time for talk is over.  It is time to start building.

One more small note:  If we don’t have a good strong defense, eventually, we will not have a good economy.  For sure, we won’t even have a country.  We will be overrun by any one of a dozen of other countries.  We might not be an aggressive country, but others are.  The instant they realize we are weak, they will take advantage of it.
