I Agree

Anytime I get the chance I get the chance, I ask police officers what will happen when they have to go to electric police cars. I do consider it a valid question. According to them that knows, gas cars will all be phased out of existence by 2030.

Every official quickly dismissed my question out of hand. I agree. I don’t think we will go to electric police cars. However, at this point, I see no way to avoid it. If Detroit stops building internal combustion engines, I see but 2 ways to keep the gas guzzlers on the highway. 1. Build their own. 2. Keep repairing the old ones.

So, I am forced back to the question. What happens when Detroit is forced into going all electric?

Don’t Like Cold

The weatherman says he’s not sure that it will snow but he said it will be cold. I wonder jf he realizes that is no way to make friends and influence enemies.

Well, one good thing. My almost new electric car has electric seats and steering wheel.

The Importance of Excellence

Sometimes, I repeat myself. Sometimes, I consider it important. When asked why I joined the Marines, I frequently say, because when I share a foxhole, I want that other guy to be the best trained man possible. That means he needs to be a marine. Army, Navy, Air Force won’t do. I want that man to know how to use a rifle. It just might help my chances of survival.

To take it a few steps further, it won’t help me if he is Black, Purple, Red or Blue. My only concern is, is he able and willing to fire his weapon when the enemy starts trying to overrun our position.

All the rules of equality, as far as I am concerned mean nothing to me when that other man’s skill with an M16 just might keep me alive.

When talking foxholes, it’s easy to remember the importance of excellence. However, it does become easy to overlook excellence when building houses, cars, or planes. I mean, when you are at 35 thousand feet, just how important is that mechanics abilities with that plane you’re comfortably traveling at 400 mph. Does equality really matter so much when your plane starts falling apart?

Excllence suddenly gets important when that pilot needs to land that plane in a storm at 150 mph. Most anyone can land that thing in good weather when everything on the plane is working right.

Missing in Action

Did I mention I was in the Marines. Whilst serving, there was a thing or two I learned. One of those things is that a squadron commanding officer must remain in contact with the squadron at all times.

It just so happened, as a l/cpl, E3, I had to to call the CO, a Lt. Col. Needless to say, it was not something I was used to doing everyday. He answered. I explained the reason for the call. He thanked me. That was that.

When the sec. of defense went missing for three days, just what would have happened if someone called to say we just lost an air craft carrier and there was no one but some seaman, E3 to take the call?

Going Green, Really

Landed on public TV the other day. I try not to do that. They try to warp my mind. Every now and then they have something that catches my my attention.

They had a story about red lights, aka traffic lights. At any rate, the woman suggested regulation of traffic lights to decrease the long times that autos must wait at red lights.

Oddly, sounds like a really good idea. Oddly, sounds familiar. Come to think of it, I am sure I have heard of it a time or two or three before. Those of you who are approaching my age might have heard of the concept.

I suppose, to some degree, it is already done with various degree of success. Actually, to some degree, it is the logic behind Interstates, expressways and such. Barring traffic jams, it works good.

The one thing that keeps coming to mind are the tons of fuel used in drive throughs. Just how many cars sit at restaurants awaiting to order, then awaiting to pickup the orders.

Of course, those who are in the cars stay nice and cool as their SUVs spew their waste into the atmosphere.

Ironically, I never hear the going green folks complaining about any of it. Do you suppose it’s cause they are the ones in the drive throughs waiting for the processed foods they don’t like the rest of us eating.

Another Year Since Jan 6

Would you believe there are still some waiting for their day in court, in solitary? That is inexcusable, even if they are guilty.

My best guess is that they have already spent more time in confinement than what the judgements would be. It’s not just unconstitutional but wrong. It is the way banana republics treat their enemies.

Ray Eps got caught on video, and he barely got his hand slapped. It all smells of rotten fish. The Lord does know how to deal with rotten fish, even if the justice department doesn’t.
