To What Purpose?

I get it. I really do. Newspapers, radio and TV all fail without ads. Some magazines have already failed because they could not attract enough advertising.

In the past decade or so, newspapers have started having problems. This even includes the New York Times. Most of us listen to radio, watch TV and or rely on social media.

Due to a lack of choice, I listen to WREC radio in Memphis for news. I am not all that pleased with the way things are going, but it is about all I have. TV news here is horribly biased. Newspapers have no real news and I no longer have cable.

I grit my teeth and put up with that ads on WREC, though I frequently turn the volume down for some of them. They were irritating to begin with but the repitition has become most annoying.

They keep advertising a 67 song and a couple of Jefferson Airplanes songs. Here lately, I have been wondering what they are advertising. Just what is it that they want me to buy. How many times do they think they have to repeat the exact same thing before they will convince me to buy what they are selling.

I know they do need the advertising money. I just wonder, for what purpose if I haven’t a clue what they are advertising.

Don’t think it much matters. Don’t think I’ll be buying much of it anyway. Right now, I am surviving well without it. I don’t think I’ll miss it much, especially if I know not what they are advertising.

Why? Why? Why?

I’ve watched a number of the documeteries on TV about plane accidents. I have about come to the conclusion that plane accidents, as well as number of other things, are simply impossible without a chain of events leading up to them.

Because this happened, then this happens, which causes this. Then, suddenly people die or are injured. If any one of several things was prevented, the accident would have never ocurred.

Then after, people ask why did this happen? Why wasn’t this preveted? It is why things are checked, double checked and then tripple checked. It is why, before I pull out in traffic while driving, I double check and check again as I begin slowly moving.

I have never been in an OR during a procedure, that is while awake and alert. However, I imagine there is a lot of check and double checking there too. Do they not know the number of spunges they start with. Don’t they count them as they are used. I am sure they count them again to make sure they are all accounted for. Do they not check and double check all instruments are accounted for.

Moreover, the doctor, as much as possible, explains what will be done and what might go wrong. When the doctor put the stints in my heart he gave me a complete blow by blow what he would do and might go wrong. In a calm matter of fact way, he told of the chances that I might die. Incidentally, he caused a heart attack and I almost did. Things do happen on very basic procedures.

On the other hand, a young woman can walk into an abortion clinic, plop down a check. Then after a short time, she will walk out without the baby.

There is no true councoling. Requiremets for a germ free environment don’t exist. If someting goes wrong, they might need to transport her to a hospital. Finally, the doctor is not reqired to explain what he is going to do, how much pain it will cause the baby or what complications might happen.

So, I ask, why can’t the doctor be required to explain what he will do and what might happen?

Why shouldn’t the doctor be required to meet a proper steril environment? Why shouldn’t the clinic be reqired to be close to a hospital in case something goes wrong?

Finally, why shouldn’t the abortionist be required to have at least one follow up visit?

2024

And what is the significance of that year? I asked myself the question. Then I got to thinking of all those UHauls leaving blue states. It is quite conceivable each one represents a family. Before too long, even the illegal aliens will be seeking somewhere safer.

It makes me wonder how many representitives and electors they will lose in six years. Can you imagine a California with less than 30 and a New York with, maybe 20. If Detroit keeps sending jobs abroad, well they don’t even have the beaches of Califonia or the ski slopes of Colorado.

Dems just might start thinking about panicking.

The Scarecrow Reply

I am sure by now, most have seen The Wizzard of Oz, half a dozen times. I refer all to when Dorothy is confroted with a three way split in the road and asks which one to follow.

You’ll recall the scarecrow points one way then the other. Finally, he, wraps his arms about himself, pointing out all 3 ways and he says, effectively, or you can go that way, indicating all 3 roads led to Oz.

As the local news tries to pin down who is resposible for the crime increase, it reminds of that reply by the scarecrow. Some point here, while others point there.

The truth is that the mayor, city council, those that make the laws, the judges and the district attorney all have their part in it. The scarecrow can lagitamately point at all of them. However, let us not overlook where it all starts… the voters.

It is sort of the thing that happens when the voters vote for the dems for over a decade now.

Over Again

Well, one of the US’s biggest 3 day events is about done… again.

Saturday, everyone talked about what will happen. Sunday, most everyone remains glued in front of their TV watching what happens, and frequently find it difficult to believe. A few very exceptionally athletically qualified men, make it happen, while enduring pain.

Now we are near the end of the third day where almost everyone talks about the event. Many are fans of the winners. Some are fans of those suffering the loss. There is no need speeking of the players themselves other than that they are going through great emotion.

Regardless of which group, they all are saying they can’t wait till next year. This, even though we must.

A Free Hint

Five dead from shootings in Memphis over in Memphis, that is if I have heard the news right.

It seems those in authority, stand around pointing fingers and asking, “What should we do?”

Hint: what they are doing hasn’t had a lot of success.

Clue: they might try what has worked for close to a hundred years. You know, putting high priority on God and family. You know, locking up the bad guys. Perhaps, letting the police, police. How novel that would be.

Then again, what is the point. I may as well be talking to a wall.

Well, there is one advantage for those of us south of the state line. The value of my house value keeps skyrocketing. The hitch, occasionally, that crime does make it south. Good thing our officials know how to deal with it.

Perhaps that statement is not fair. I suspect very strongly those north of the state line know very well how to straiten it out quickly. However, knowing and doing is not always the same.

Safety First

I guess safety trumps going green. Still I do wish someone would make up my mind. First I’m told, “Save the planet. Buy an electric car.”

Then during the big midsouth freeze, I’m told, please don’t charge your car. It might cause the electric grid to go down. Please, how is it that I am supposed to get around? I have no horse.

Now, I see news segmemts on TV saying I’m supposed to give up the electric car because it is too heavy. It seems they go through bearriers intedended for regular cars. Worse yet, the electric cars have an unfair advantage in an accident. It seems if my car and another car collide, I have a better chance of survival.

I have no idea what kind of organization is complaining, but I sort of like the idea. I need to have the car well labeled for all those Memphis drivers. That way, they are less to try to hit me. Mind you, the method may not be fullproof. Some of those characters just might try it to find out.

I’m sure you think I jest. You try driving around here and you will realize I speak too kindly of them.

At any rate, it’s too late. I’m going to keep the car…unless someone wants to by me the 300 mile model. I suspect I’ll have no takers. It has more battery power and likely more weight. Then, for sure, no one will want to hit me. I like that idea.

Now, I wonder, will those going green folks ever make up my mind?

Why Can’t Things Work?

I am 76 years old. I have memories of my father fixing the flushing mechinism on our toilet back when I was 5. Might be wrong, but I suspect that my grandson will either fix or pay a plumber to fix his toilet on a regular basis when he is 76.

Maybe it will be that he will have children that will go through such annoyances on a regular basis. Do those highly schooled, highly paid engineers even want to take on such problems?

Of course not. I guess it is far more important to design packaging that cannot be penetrated with a decent pair of scissors.

So, this is what our current youth have to look forward to. Overkill on packaging and jiggling toilets. Well, I am sure they will figure a few more ways to annoy us. They will leave the things off the cars we need and put the things on autos that won’t serve any purpose at all.

To be sure, it is what they are trained to do. It is what they are paid for. As they retire, they look back on life imagining all the annoyance their designs have caused us.

Really, over 100 years and we still have to jiggle toilets.

A Simple Admission

Bush Light is aparently more than willing to pay out the advertising millions to recover their market share.

It’s a shame they didn’t decide to just admit that what they did was wrong and promise to never do it again. I would have been far less expesive and more effective too

By doing it the way they did, they have dug their heels in and they’ve implied they are not altering their beliefs, not at all. The fear is too great of the reprisals from the left, especially those that are proud of their rainbow flag.
