Wicker was looking over his shoulder.

Over a quarter of the Mississippi Republicans voted against Wicker. Considering that he is the incumbent, Considering the money he put into his campaign, I’d say he did pretty poorly.

The problem is, we must wait another 6 years to do anything. My guess is, we can thank the crossover dems and rinos for what we will again have to put up with.

At least we do have one thing to hope for. Age is the ultimate term limiter. I suspect he will not run after this term.

Then again, I am old enough that I won’t likely be around to see it.

Good Question

While it is true I have considered the question, I never put any deep thought into it. The question prodded and searched into some very old memories.

In the 8th grade, I had a teacher of English and US history. She really helped me understand the structure of our language inside and out. This I might add, in spite of my efforts not to.

Her name was Mrs. Roper. She didn’t have to work. Her husband was wealthy. However, she was very determined that I learned something, like it or not.

Well, I am 76 now, definition of old. It has been a long time ago. My memory isn’t like it used to be. Yet, today, I seem to know more about The Constitution, the Revolutionary War and the Civil War than half those graduating from college.

Finally, she was the first person to warn me about communist in the our schools. At the time, I wondered if she was being an alarmist.

Since that day, I can see she hadn’t told the half of it. It wasn’t but one generation later, the colleges were overwhelmed by socialists. Those graduating those colleges were soon the teachers in our schools, or should I say, mind warpers.

She really had it nailed. Today, if you want teachers like Mrs. Roper, you’ll likely need to look in private schools. I suspect there aren’t many there.

The prompt has made me wish I would have gone back to the school and thanked her for her stubbornness. I doubt she is still around. I think very few like her are.

Benefits of Coughing

I happened to be sharing an elevator with a doctor. I knew this because of his white coat and letting above the pocket. I can’t remember what prompted it but I had to bury my mouth into my shoulder and cough for a short time.

When done, I apologized and added, “A little coughing is good for us. It is the only way to exercise our coughing muscles. “

To my surprise, he smiled and said, “That’s right. “

It was just a clumsy effort at an joke and excuse, but I could see he was serious. As I get older I see, more and more, that what I said was true. it is getting more difficult as I get older.

Well, I got something caught in my throat earlier and I started exercising my cough muscles and I just couldn’t stop. After a half hour of that, I realized my coughing muscles had just about all they could handle. They had a complete workout and now they are ready… well for whatever they need to be ready for.

Of course, the exercise was not by the number, nut rather taking deep breaths then forcing it out again about as fast as I could.

The fact is, being able to dislodge something with a cough can be important.

Tattoos?

Don’t do tattoos. Why would I even think of disfigurement? I don’t think that God likes it when we do that. I don’t see the point of it anyway.

A few decades ago, most folks were as me. Not so much anymore. Do we really want to classify that as progress? Do we really want to start assuming that everyone likes defacing themselves?

Let’s keep our art on paper and canvas. Maybe stone or bronze. it looks better and lasts longer.

Ref: Movies Worth….

Can’t be believe; Forgot Kelly’s Heros. Have no idea how many times I have seen it. Liked the one who said, just realistic enough to make it funny, very funny.

Although it is not a musical, it opens with with one of my favorite movie themes, Burning Bridges. I can’t imagine many who haven’t seen the movie, but if you haven’t, please take a few minutes to listen to Burning Bridges. You might even want to download it as I did.

The cast is quite surprising, the best I ever saw of Donald Southerland as a tank commander, would you believe. Kelly is played by Clint Eastwood at his best as an Army private.

The list of players is surprising but very appropriate characters.

The movie does have a number of thoughtful one liners and a little unexpected. It’s ok. I still find them funny every time I see the movie, though I know what is coming.

As an aside, I found a copy of Burning Bridges sung by Clint Eastwood, which is pretty good.

Movies Worth Seeing, Again

Fidler On the Roof

Sound of Music

Oklahoma

South Pacific

Kismet

Pal Joey

The Desert Song

Ten Commandments

There are dozens of others. Unfortunately, on the spur of the moment, my memory fails me.

Also, I have purchased a couple of movies that were never on TV or in the movie theaters, Pirates of Penzance & HMS Pinafore. I lost count of the times I’ve watched them.

Rare Agreement

I rarely agree with any said by Old Joe. However, in this case I must. In the state of the union address, Old Joe said, “Freedom and Democracy are under assault.” I agree. It is casual to the most obvious observer that freedom and democracy are in substantial danger. Moreover, so are the Constitution and Bill of Rights. This is especially true for freedom of speech, freedom of religion and right to bear arms.

The dems are doing their best to destroy every bit of it.

The Cost of a Multilingual Society

Back in the day when I was stationed in Japan, my wife had to fill in on things for me. One of those things was attending those Parent Teacher Association meetings. She told me that all was done in triplicate because of the non-English speaking parents. That wasn’t just papers but all speeches as well.

Hence, a 1 hour meeting was stretched into 3. However, the problems didn’t stop there. While English was being spoken, the other 2 sets of parents just sat on their hands. On the other hand, those, those parents who were bilingual, had to listen to the same thing twice.

Let’s get real. A nation that has one language spoken by all is a benefit to all. For that reason, might I suggest we officially adopt English as the standard language for the US.

It’s not going to happen, especially after the way the border has been overrun. I have no earthly idea how many languages are now being used within our border.

If someone were to suggest a standard language the dems and rinos would instantly create an upheaval such as has not be seen ever in this continent. This is odd because they like to talk about unity. Yet there is nothing that separates like different languages.

People with common tongues have a tendency to settle in common places. People who settle in different areas and different tongues tend to think of themselves as different.

It is only natural. All the while those who are not fluent in English are at a disadvantage. Those who do speak English are held back by both. Professions such as police, 911 operators, hospitals, etc are the ones who are most frustrated by the nation of Babble.
