What Do You Want to Believe?

I am something of an observer. Over the past few years it has occurred to me, maybe most people believe what they want to believe, regardless.

In spite of any proof otherwise, they hold steadfast to that which suits him or her. I find it utterly amazing the hopeless things that folks will hang onto, simply because they want to.

It does help to understand why the theory of evolution caught on, even though not one person has ever come up with one fact to back it up, only speculations, suppositions and more theory.

I am convinced Darwin, himself, tried to prove that which he knew to be true wasn’t, even to the day he died. It was as if, if he could prove evolution, it would disprove God and the Bible.

He never proved evolution. It is still only a theory, but one presented everywhere as fact. I suspect as Darwin’s death grew near, he feared he was going to be facing real judgment from God.

Even so, he never had any idea how he had set the world upside down. And now, very much of the world believes his theory, not because of any proof but because it is what the world wants to believe.

For if evolution is true, then there is no God, there is no 10 Commandments, and mankind is just another animal. It becomes a world where the laws are all from man and murder is the same as killing any other animal.

Indeed, the scopes monkey trial was the next step in proving we all came from the apes. And they have tossed God out of our classrooms, not because of what is believed, but because of what they want to believe.

It does make evolution something to believe in. That is to say, because there is no proof, it’s not science but religion.

Cats!

I put the new AC in and everything was cool. Not apologing for the pun. Then I heard a noise. I looked over and saw the cat had broken through between the window side and AC. She tore the plastic and I saw there was no way to repair it.

Now did I hurt the cat? No. I looked the situation over and developed a plan, which didn’t work. I developed another plan, which worked even worse. Then I developed a third plan, which worked out really good.

As I look the thing over, I almost wonder if I should market it. It would definitely need some dressing up, but it is better than those things that came with the AC.

The hitch of course, the one that came with the AC came with no charge. If I am to make money I would have to justify charging a couple of few dollars. Too bad, but it is just kinda the way capitalism works.

So as I sit in my recliner feebly entering this post into my computer pad, I also consider how I just might make my millions off my new idea. And of course, the cat that inspired it, sits innocently curled up, contented and asleep in my lap.

Cat & Big Mouse

Don’t have the foggiest, but every time we go somewhere, we have a cat that stations herself behind my almost new Nissan EV. Then upon returning, of all things she sits in the drive just before we pull into it.

As silent as the car is, I can’t imagine what clues her to our approach. However, coming or going, I must put the cat into the car long enough to keep her from getting run over.

Now, there is a new hitch. With her in the car, I back out and put her back in the yard. Then she runs and gets back in the car faster than I can.

It is a little inconvenience but mainly, I would just like to know why. I am also open to this little cat and mice game this feline likes.

Matthew 24:6 and ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars

Many sermons have been preached on the passage including these words. Many times, the words have been quoted.

It’s not my intention to preach, just put forward an observation. As near as I can tell, things will unfold more rapidly from beginning to end.

As I look over recent history, I certainly see the wars and rumors of wars. Over the centuries, there have been a lot of them. A person could spend a lifetime doing nothing more than studying wars: what led up to them, the sequence of the war and results.

However, it does seem as if things have picked up some. If you look from 1900 on, there have been wars and rumors almost continually. Even during the time just before WWI threats were quickly building.

While there were no world wars for a while after the 1st war ended, there were skirmishes all over. In addition, no sooner did the first war end things started shaping up for the 2nd. In a little over a decade Hitler already started establishing his empire as did Mussolini. Hirohito was very close behind.

Though it was hoped peace would follow, Korea, Vietnam and revolution in China soon followed. Then the rumors of war came with the Iron curtain and the Bamboo curtain.

Then, suddenly, we marched into Afghanistan and Iraq, twice.

Israel has had it’s own wars. The seven day war, Yom Kippur war, a few skirmishes to the north and south.

And yes. How can a person forget nine-eleven. Maybe not a war but I think it does quality as a rumor of war.

I am sure I left some out.

As I said. Just an observation.

Purchased New 8000 btu window AC

So what? What’s the big deal. I am trying desperately to remember when I bought the last one. It was at least 4 years, maybe 5. The old one still works but needs a good cleaning. I’ll put it out at the curb and someone just might be grateful I did. Somebody will take, clean it up and they have a new AC.

This is not the first time I wrote on air conditioners. I guess the last time was when I put the last one in. That cost just a little more than this one.

The question may very well be, why didn’t I buy a central unit? Well I, at one time did. However, every year I paid a minimum of a thousand dollars to repair it every year.

So, I asked my question. What costs more? Fix my AC every year for for a grand or replace a window unit for a few hundred every 4 or 5 years for 350.

Now my math skills might not be the equivalent of Einstein’s but I elected to just buy window units and let those HVAC repair guys go hungry. And guess what? No installation costs. I put the thing in the window and plugged it in all by my lonesome while my wife watched.

Again, I am not brilliant, but I suspect one day, someone will get the idea of having 2 hoses hooked up to a home and hook the other ends of the hoses to something similar to a window unit AC. That way, most of the noise is outside and there need not be a box hanging from the window.

There is another upside. After 4 or 5 years, you decide to replace the outside unit, you buy one, pull the old one and put the new one in. No need lift the old one out and the new one in. Faster, simpler, easier. Who knows? It might even be less costly.

Well maybe that is the reason it will never happen. People love selling stuff the can charge lots of money for.

Afterthought… A central unit breaks, that’s another grand for the repair. I have never had a window unit break. If it does, I replace it for about 400. I prefer the window unit math.

Shelby County Clerk, Wanda Halbert Asks for Raise for County Clerk Personnel

Of course. For doing such a great job!

Actually, I should not be so hard on the personnel when the chief problem is the chief.

Incidentally, for those outside the mid-south area and don’t know, Halbert has the primary prerequisite. She’s a avid democrat. She might not know a thing about running a county clerk office, she may not have any desire to do even an adequate job. However, she did know how to campaign for the job and she clearly knows how to ask for wages.

Well, I guess she does also know how to how to hold onto a job. Anyone else would have been fired already.

Better Early Than Late?

On the news, I noticed they are finally starting to arrest some of the demonstrators. I wonder, if they had started much sooner, it might have had more affect. Maybe they don’t have enough jail cells now. Moreover, it’s going to cost a bundle to feed them all.

And, by the way, some of those characters might welcome the room & board. They might not have had anything to eat for a while.

Maybe I Should Explain

It has been a long time so maybe I should re-explain the category Crazy Nuts as some new readers don’t know the origin.

Though not successful, I have written over 35 books. Of these, several are part of a group called Floaters. In them, at least one person is able float, but not fly. That is, they are not able to propel themselves.

One of the books is titled, “Crazy Nuts.” In it, the main character explains that her mother was always scolding her for referring to people or actions as being stupid. So she resorts to sometimes using crazy, other times nuts. Then, sometimes, when a thing is really bad, she’d call it crazy nuts, sort of like the dems running Old Joe for president. Even more, if they try to run Harris.

Another Meeting by Mayor Paul

This time he is meeting with folks at and about Orange Mound. This time it might actually do some good. If it does or not, at least he’ll show he cares.

Regardless, it is possible someone in the meeting will say something intelligent. I wouldn’t count on that being the mayor. The real trick is, if some really good idea is presented, will the current mayor of Memphis be bright enough to recognize it?

Consider the Result

I am a man. The result of a conversation of the US to Islam would certainly have undesirable results for me, especially considering I am Christian.

On the other hand all women would suffer badly under Islam. It does make me wonder just why any woman would want such a conversation. The truth is, the words are weak, but I simply don’t know how to express it more strongly or clearly.

Today, women are demonstrating, working hard for the advancement of Islam in this world. Do they not understand what most assuredly will happen to them the instant Sharia law becomes the law of the land.

Forget equality for women, especially those that are educated. In Afghanistan, most of the women who went to school were killed. Under Islam there is no equality for women. Frequently, it is death for them if the step outside the law even a little.

I guess, somehow, these women demonstrators think they will be immune. Maybe they think they will gain respect by helping. I don’t know. I’m not the expert. On the other hand, it would be a horrible thing if a few thousand, maybe millions were to learn firsthand.

Before making any decision of such magnitude, it is wise to consider the results.

While I am on the subject, consider Christianity, instead. No religion respects women more than real Christianity.
