Dodging Bullets

As near as I can tell, President Trump is good at dodging slings, arrows and bullets.  It seems that it is the main desire to hit him every day all day.  They sling stones, shoot arrows and fire bullets at him on a regular basis, but, so far they all missed.

There is one down side at being able to dodge their weapons.  Those near him need to be careful.  When they miss the president, they have a tendency to do substantial damage to those around him.  As near as I can tell, they have damaged the lives of at least four good people, maybe five.  I suspect, by the time his first term is over, there will be many more innocent casualties.

If this pattern continues, people are going to be afraid to be associated with good men like our president.  Then again, this might be their intentions of those who take aim on POTUS.  In this they have had success and that is a shame.

A Whole Lot of Colluding Going On!

I turned the news on this morning and it seemed like every everywhere I looked, I kept hearing… what’s the word now?  Oh yes, impeach.  By evening I was downright tired of it.  Mostly, it was news broadcasters, but there were a few representatives too.  It sort of makes me wonder if the news media is running the country.

It would seem they all just can’t wait until the dems take over the house and get a chance to impeach President Trump.  It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to me.  Even if they did impeach him, it would take a 2/3 super-majority in the Senate to convict and remove him from office.  (Guess what.  I learned that when I was still in grade school.  It would seem there are a few news commentators that still don’t know it, or just found out after making an idiot of themselves, coast-to-coast.)  Regardless, that’s not going to happen.  Even if it does, I actually think that they will be jumping right out of the frying pan into the fire.  VP Pence is much more conservative than President Trump.  Planned Parenthood might as well close down all their offices because they won’t be getting any more federal funds if Mr. Pence has anything to say about it.

Anyway, I started figuring things out.

First, they know they can’t remove anyone from office.  Even they can figure it out, as long as they have a little help.  They just don’t want President Trump fixing (as in repair) anything else.  They don’t want him settling things with North Korea, China, Russia or Iran.  That would make them, look very bad.  They don’t want him to build his wall.  Need I explain it.  Making him look bad is their only hope of beating him in 2020.  I have seen people like that all my life: make the other guy look bad in hopes it will make them look good.  If he does half of what he wants to do, the dems will have nothing but egg on their faces and they won’t like that.  Everything that they said he couldn’t do he would do, even with them standing in the way.

Second, I noticed that they not only use the same word, they like to use the same phrase.  It is as if unknown villain is writing the script each morning from behind the scenes.  Speaking of scripts, I wonder who is doing their writing.  I can only assume that the dems and the liberal press alike have been doing some serious colluding and I would like to know who is leading the orchestra.

I probably won’t be able to do a thing about it, but it would be nice to know anyway.

If you would like to visit my author’s page and look through the 35+ books I have there, I won’t mind.  Also, should you want to tell your friends about the books, I won’t mind that either.  Even more, I won’t even mind if you tell your enemies.  Please note that there is an underscore between story and teller which you might have trouble seeing.

The Game

I write stories. Admittedly, most of my stories are unbelievable. If you will permit, let me tell you the story of two football teams and the game they played. Mostly, each team has their color. In this case, one team is red, the other blue.

Naturally, the officials wear black and white striped jerseys. It signifies that they are neutral, or at least they are supposed to be. All calls should be unbiased and objective as possible. Now and then, they miss a call, it is normal. They are human. However, in this game, to be honest, they should wear blue. Effective, they have merged with and become part of the blue team. They do little to hide it.

To make matters worse, some of the red team help the blue team. I assure you it isn’t by accident. Indeed, instead of their red jerseys, they should wear purple, maybe blue.

Okay. Some of you figured out what I’m getting at. For those who don’t let me spell it out. The red team are the Republicans. The blue team are the Democrats. The officials are the socialist news media, the ones that are supposed to be neutral. Then of course, there are those who call themselves Republican, but are really dems in disguise. That is to say, RINOs, Republicans In Name Only. I would mention a few names, but what difference does it make. You likely already know them. After all, they don’t hide it.

Repeatedly, complaints come from the crowds. It would seem that the Republicans can’t get anything done. Is it no wonder? Is there anyone who can’t figure out why?

The liberal media keep complaining that President Trump is trying to stifle the news media. Please, let me remind all who read this. When a government becomes socialist, the first thing that goes is the free press. In a socialist country, the government owns everything. They tell everyone what to do say or think. …and that includes the press.

So before you write that lie, just think. Would you get away with that in Russia, or China. Maybe you think a free press in welcomed in Cuba or Venezuela. It’s not going to happen. If are in any of those countries and you write things the leadership doesn’t like, you don’t get stifled; you get thrown in prison, or maybe you just disappear. It has been know to happen.

The Problems with Tyrants

“From each according to his ability, to each according to each according to his need.”  Many attribute the above quote to the Bible.  It shows how little they know about the Bible.  It also shows that they don’t have much knowledge of history.  The quote is from Karl Marx in 1875.  It is part of his concept of communism.  It was part of his plan for world wide paradise.

Since then, it has been tried many times without success.  In the USSR it was tried, failed and then modified. The government that the Soviet Union lived under was not communism.  Quickly, they realized that true communism won’t work.

To fix the problem, they came up with a leader, a tyrant.  Then China tried communism and, again, they modified it.  They appointed a leader who was, believe it or not, a tyrant.  Cuba tried communism.  Again, their leader was a tyrant.

Have you noticed the pattern?  To make communism work, it takes a leader.  Invariably, the leader must be a tyrant.  Even then, it doesn’t work.  Central government doesn’t work.  It is horribly inefficient.  People make decisions who are inept.  (as an example, people in one location is oversupplied [resulting in spoiled food] while in other locations people starve.)  People who are lazy don’t work without taskmasters.  Why should they?  They don’t receive any reward for their efforts.  If they do nothing, they still get their share.  Finally, the tyrants ride in limos and private jets while the rest of the population walk or ride in horse carts.  The tyrants eat caviar while the public has a meager diet of beans and, if they are lucky, a little bread.

It is exactly what the dems complain about in the US. Yet most of us have healthy diets, a roof over our heads and even air-conditioning.  Then again, I guess there isn’t much need for air-conditioning in Moscow.

I guess that the communism might stand halfway succeed as capitalism if the leader were a good person.  The problem is that tyrants are tyrants.  The only people they think about are themselves and a small circle of those around them.  If you have any doubts about what I am writing about, ask those in North Korea.

Oh.  Yest that’s right.  You can’t.  The tyrant running the country won’t let you.

If someone tells you how wonderful socialism works, you might want to consider the above.  You might want to think about how well it is working in Venezuela (also ruled by a tyrant).  You might want to ask them to name one country where socialism works.

You might also think about how well Obama Care has worked here.  I’m not sure this country will ever recover from that one.  I know I won’t.

Outside Voter Influence

The Dems are all in an uproar over the Russians trying to influence our election.  First, it’s not new.  It is an effort that started with Stalin.

Second, they  are not the only ones.  The Chinese raised tariffs aimed at farmers that voted for Trump.  They haven’t said as much, but it is sort of obvious.  The Mexicans have been trying to retake the southwest every since the Alamo.  Moreover, it is no secret.  They said it publicly.

Actually, it’s not just the outside influence.  The Dems have been the main cheering section for first the Soviets, and now the Chinese.  They are helping the Mexicans every day and they don’t seem to care who knows it.

Those who call themselves journalists are right in there helping any foreigner they can find who will weaken the Republicans, even if it causes harm to the US.  They don’t much care what country they come from.

Personally, I believe it should be a felony to accept money from outside the United States in any election, I don’t care what country it comes from.  If it is proved beyond a reasonable doubt, those using the funds should be thrown in prison and he should be removed from office.

I only wished it could be so for funds coming from other states as well.  I suspect that if our founding fathers foresaw such a possibility, they would have tried to put something in the constitution to disallow it.  After all, whey should multi-millionaires in New York or California have anything to say about what goes on in Alabama or Arkansas.  People in their own state ought to have their own say  It is sort of the reason they included the Tenth Amendment.

Many years ago, the Mississippi Assembly decided to make it legal to have gambling casinos.  There was one requirement.  They had to get the permission of the county by popular vote.  Twice, Desoto County voted it down.

There was, to say the least, a big battle that ensued prior to each vote.  Millions of dollars came in from out of state, mostly from Memphis.  (Now I ask you, is it right for people who live in Memphis to decide gambling in Desoto County?)  Some came from New York and some from other places.

Memphis, by default had the big guns in advertising.  They had three TV stations and I have no idea how many radio stations that broadcast into Desoto county.  Much of it was straight forward advertising, but much of it was personal opinion passed in something of a casual way by many of the anchors.  Their attitude was, why not vote to allow gambling.  It is the fix-all for everything.

Those that apposed the gambling had very little money.  They certainly couldn’t afford the TV adds and radio was expensive too.  Mostly, it was word of mouth, churches and a few small organizations.  I feared the outcome.  To me, it looked like they were just going steam roll in here and set up shop.

What really angered me was that the mayors and councilmen got in the act.  The school teachers were telling about how wonderful the gambling would be.  These people were supposed to be representing the people, but it was obvious they had no idea what the people wanted…or worse, they were self serving.

Those that were for the gambling outspent those against it by more than ten to one, yet it was defeated by two thirds of the voters.  They told the outsiders, “We don’t want it!  We don’t want any part of it!”

…and so it was that Tunica County got the gambling instead.  From my observance of how things went in Tunica, I am very happy we rejected it.  The gambling brought everything that we thought it would, crime, corruption and, very likely, organized crime.  By the way, it also resulted in the worst schools in the state  It was the exact opposite of the promise made by the casinos.  The state had to take over the schools because they became so bad.

I don’t know about others, but when outside money comes to my state, I will be very Leary.  I don’t like outside wealth telling me how to vote or what to vote for.  I would suggest that others do the same.  Educate yourself well and guard your vote carefully.  It is very important.

A Word or Two About Some Obscure History

I guess it was a few decades ago that I recall watching an old black & white Sherlock Holmes movie.  In it, Holmes notices a man with military shoes and deduced that he had been a soldier.  Not was a soldier, but he had been in the Crimean War.

Immediately, I was launched into thought.  I knew I heard about the Crimean War, but I hadn’t an inkling of anything about it.  My wife gets angry with me for doing such things, but I immediately went into research mode.  I decided I’d not sleep until I found out about it.

I won’t bore you with all the info about the war, but there are some things I gleaned that most everyone should know.  It is a small peninsula jutting south from The Ukraine into The Black Sea.  It started at or about 1862, slightly before our Civil War.  The most famous battle was The Charge of the Light Brigade.  It was such a disaster that Tennyson wrote a poem about it.  Afterward, the method of selecting and training the British officer corps was drastically changed.

It is in during this war that Florence Nightingale became famous for her help of the wounded.  Yalta, a city on the south coast, was the place that the leaders of the US, Brittan and the Soviet Union met near the end of WWII.

For quite a while, I liked to test who really knows their history/geography.  I simply asked where Crimea was.  Of course the peninsula has become better known recently, since Russia took over the Peninsula.  This is a something of a paradox, being as that was the reason for the Crimean war.  Hence the war only delayed the takeover by Russia.

By the way, even with Crimea being in the news so much here lately, I would suspect there aren’t many that know where it is.  I am sure there are far fewer who know the history.

While the Crimean was very important, I won’t bother with all the details.  You can look it up yourself and I would suggest you do.  In spite of the fact that the little plot of land is so small, the land and the war were and are a very important part of history.  Besides, you will be able to impress your friends with how knowledgeable you are.

Voting Irregularities

Winston Churchill, a wise man, said “A lie gets half way around the world before the truth gets its pants on.”  The dems and the media take advantage of that.  They say something, knowing it is a lie.  Then, if they are caught, they issue a correction.  Not only does the correction not go anywhere, the media continues to quote the lie even after the correction is issued.  So the truth dies while the lie lives on, a fact the liberal media is well aware of.  The liberals prefer to believe the lie, regardless of how unbelievable it is.

The democrats are surprised that someone wants to influence elections.  Actually, it is over a hundred years old.  During Reconstruction (what they called the time rebuilding the South after the Civil War) it was rampant.  It was the primary reason for the formation of the pole taxes, literacy tests and the KKK.  People from the North went into the South and paid Black people to vote… 8 or 9 times.  (I will give you 2 guesses as to whom they wanted them to vote for, and the first one doesn’t count.)

Almost immediately after the advent of the Soviet Union, the communists tried to affect far more than our elections as well as hundreds of others…including Germany.  One of Hitler’s main adversaries was the Bolsheviks, Soviets.  By the late sixties they virtually took control of our colleges.  They were the primary source of the anti-Vietnam war movement and I have not heard one complaint from the democrats about that.

To a lesser degree, they affected our politics during WWII.  After the war, they came within an inch of taking control of this country.  They have had their nose in our politics ever since.  To be sure, Khrushchev made it clear that he would take over our government without firing a shot.  I can’t remember who it was, but there was one commie that said that he who counts the ballots wins the election.  Even a moderately intelligent sixth grader likely knows the meaning of those statements.

When Kennedy was elected, it was clear that someone in Chicago decided to count the ballots.  Possibly, if there was a recount, the results of the election might have come out differently.  For the sake of national unity, Nixon told them not to do the recount.

To this day, precincts are reporting irregularities.  Oddly results are always overwhelmingly democrat.  Though it doesn’t take a genius to figure that out, proving anything can be difficult or impossible.

Several times, Obama said that there was no need to look into voter fraud.  There’s no cheating.  Then, immediately after the vote…guess what…evidence of cheating…by the dems.  Then, of course, the first thing they did was yell fraud at the republicans.  (The best way to cover your tail feathers is to accuse someone else.)

The fact is, we need to change our voting and registration or we will be as the third world countries.  I suggest that registration should be in person and separate from any auto license bureau.  Upon registration, a message should be sent to all other states to ensure that the voter is dropped from their registers.

When the person registers, a photo ID should be issued, which should be required to vote.  To ensure validity, there should have magnetic strip that contains the written info on the card.  When the card is presented to vote, the info on the card should be updated with the current date.  It would prevent the card from being used multiple times.  Finally, when a person dies, a message should be sent to all states to keep anyone from voting or registering by that name.

I know.  It is a lot.  But if we don’t do something, the votes of honest people won’t mean a thing.  It is a sorry state of affairs that we should need to do such things, but, as we just found out, there are people trying to steal our elections.

Certainly, there should be stiff penalties for voter fraud.  The laws should be especially stiff for those that are involved in gross voter fraud.  We should never have 2000 votes in a precinct with 1800 voters.  If there ever is such a thing, it should prompt an immediate federal investigation.

Oh yes.  I have one more suggestion, the most important.  All ballots should be paper.  Electronic voting is too easily altered.  Worse, recounts mean nothing.  Recounts of paper ballots can verify everything, including vote count.

Misplaced Empathy

From what I’ve been told, humans are about the only species that feel empathy, a close relative of compassion. When someone hurts, especially someone close to us, we hurt too. Oddly, most of us feel empathy for animals too. Contrary to what all the scientist tell us, I don’t think I am related to apes and such. Yet, when my cat got his paw hung in the chain link fence, I still went over and cut the fence to get it out of his paw. …and by the way, he appreciated it so much that he sunk his teeth over half way through my finger.
I didn’t blame him for it. He thought I was trying to hurt him. Actually, I am sure I was. The wire had gone right through his foot and there was no way I could help him without causing him some pain.

At any rate, afterward, he went to the vet and I went to the doctor. Both of us were in pretty good shape in spite of it all. I got an antibiotic shot and the cat did have some minor problems the rest of his life with one of his claws.

Sometimes, people try to help us, knowing that they will likely hurt us. Many of these people are called doctor. I know I had a hard time remembering this the time I had a dislocated finger and the doctor had to straighten it. (After, the poor woman jumped back. She was convinced that I was going to hit her.)

Sometimes we humans direct our empathy in the wrong way. There are those who would encourage illegal immigration. By putting the welcome mat out, they aid and abet the drug cartels. As a result, people die on the way. The women are raped and the boys are conscripted into gangs.

If they make it into the US, many girls are forced into brothels. Both men and women can end up working in sweat shops for little or nothing. Then, if they are caught, they frequently get sent back to their own country.

If they do manage a safe arrival into the US, they live in constant fear of being found. If they are abused, they are afraid to say anything. If they become sick or injured, they are afraid to go to a doctor or hospital. If they labor in the fields, they are frequently paid a small salary. Then, if the owner of the ranch decides to, he refuses to pay them at all.
Invariably, they use false documents so to allow them to work. Then, if the cartel decides, they use them for whatever purpose serves them.

I would say that it is a mistake the Dems make. The truth is…they likely know all this and they don’t care. They likely have no compassion for the illegal immigrant. When they die, they don’t shed any tears. When the girls are raped, they likely have little interest in it. When a man is stiffed for a day’s wages, I doubt they have any concern.

The fact is, the illegal immigrant serves but two purposes. They provide a mallet with which to hit President Trump and they provide a possible way to increase the number of democrat voters. It is the way the Dems work. They can’t come up with any good policies so they stuff the ballot boxes… or import more voters.  It’s apparently something they learned from the communists.  I can’t remember who it was, but one of the commies said, “He who counts the ballots rules the country.”  …or something to that affect.

Finally, walls stop trucks.  Right now, there are places where a vehicle can just drive over the border.  I don’t know about you, but it sounds to me like a convenient way to smuggle drugs, or about anything else… maybe even an atomic bomb or two.  The wall is a good idea even if we didn’t have people flooding over our borders.

Words of Deception

Over the years, I have noticed there are a few terms that are frequently used in deceptions.  I figured that I might include them below for you.

The children.  Usually, when a politician uses this term, the children benefit the least.  If money is involved, it usually goes to some other purpose and often into someone’s pocket.

Comprehensive.  The first time I heard this word was “Comprehensive immigration bill.”  It was supposed to solve all the woes of immigration.  However, after studying the bill, it became obvious that it solved everything but illegal immigration.  Actually, it encouraged it.  Then they were upset because the people all got in an uproar and made them vote it down.  Ever since then, they complain about it.  Now and then, they bring it up again, in hopes that maybe they will catch us napping, or maybe we’ll tire of fighting it.  Needless to say, comprehensive or a similar term is used from time to make other expressions:  Healthcare, crime bill, education, mass transit, etc.  Unless you don’t mind getting deceived, keep your eyes open.

Environment.  It is the new home for the communists.  Those  that like to use the word want to make sure we all ride around on bicycles while they go around in limos and jets.  it is the same concept the communists have.  A few people in control telling the rest of us what to do, where to go, and of course, what to think.

Prejudice.  This word and a few synonyms are used whenever a person with common sense gets in the way of the powers to be.  Naturally, it is a term that has been used frequently to disparage President Trump.  It has caused the the controllers no end of grief that it hasn’t worked.  Maybe one reason it fails to work on him is that the term has been abused and overused so much that the public has become immune to it.  In a sense, we have been inoculated to it.  The bad thing is that the people who truly suffer prejudice are ignored.  I heard a story about that one time.  Let me see.  Oh yes.  It’s the story about the boy who called wolf.  Most of us know the disaster the befell the boy that made that mistake.

Lobbying.  Also known as bribery.  The problem with a government or its representatives accepting bribes is that it usually benefits the one doing the bribing.  To be sure, bribes are illegal in federal, state and local governments.  However they are still common place.  More than that, lobbyists bribe representatives all the time and it is legal, as long as the money goes to a campaign.  However, offers in kind are often collected after the politician retires and goes back into private life.  It makes it next to impossible to enforce.  Besides, its an acceptable practice.  Its a retirement plan.  Certainly, much of the bribery comes in from unions, especially the National Education Association (NEA).  (The National Endowment for the Arts (also NEA) also makes bribes, though they are greatly financed by the federal government.  I don’t know about you, but that sounds improper.  They are using government money to bribe government officials.)  I don’t know anything that can be done about lobbyists.  Corporations and unions do have an ethical right to representation.  However, I do believe all such money should be published.  Nowadays, with the Internet, that shouldn’t be a problem.  The government official and the those lobbying the officials should post the financial info on web pages and kept there for a reasonable time.  That way, when I get ready to vote for someone, I will know where they get most of their contributions.  Also, it will let me keep an eye on those doing the lobbying.  As for the art outfit: that’s just wrong.  It ought to be illegal, though I don’t think that will happen.  Those receiving the funds are not likely going to vote against it.  It’s sort of like expecting our representatives to vote for term limits.  It’s just not going to happen.

I’m sure there are many words I’ve left out that you can think of.  If you like, I welcome your suggestions.  Let’s just keep it clean and reasonable.  Invariably, the terms are easy to see, provided you take a minute to think about it.  Mostly it is a matter of making sure you understand any law involved and determine who would benefit the most.  This is usually the person who uses the euphemism.

A Few Words About Deceit

Some time ago, I heard a public service announcement (PSA) that 50% of all car accidents involving fatalities were caused by a drunk driver. More recently, I heard another PSA that it is now 30%. Given this info and only this info, a person might suggest that we get all the sober drivers off the road. They are causing almost three-fourths of fatal accidents.

I call it flawed logic, where a person makes a decision based on incomplete information. The information, as such is correct, just not complete.

I once heard a preacher say, “Deceit and the truth cannot coincide.” Certainly what he said was and is true. Where the problem comes is when part of the truth is withheld. It is on this that deceivers base their craft. Over time, I have formed four rules for deceit.
1. The person easiest to deceive is yourself.
2. To deceive someone else, you must keep at least part of the truth from that person. (The same goes for a group of people.)
3. People are egotistical. When you tell a person how wonderful they are, they are more likely to believe you. Besides, they are more likely to like you.
4. Lies are not required for deceit. Notice, in the above example, I did not lie to you, but I did leave out an important part of the truth. Therefore, I convinced you to keep the sober drivers off the road. (Hopefully, you had enough common sense not to swallow that one.

Yet people are deceived every day by things just as obvious. Many years ago, New York wanted a lottery to pay for the schools. They managed to pass the law by saying that it would be completely for the schools. The deceit lies in a little word, fungible. That means, once the government has our money, they can use it for what ever they want. It’s just a matter of bookkeeping. Today, they aren’t even trying to fool anyone. They have come right out and admitted it. The schools, of course got very little of it. Now they get none of it.

Nowadays, there are people who would like us to believe that a wall on our southern border will not help. Never mind our common sense. Never mind the fact that people put fences around buildings all the time to keep people out. Guess what? It works. Moreover, the walls are permanent. An election won’t erase them.

It is, of course obvious that torture doesn’t work. Guess what? It does. Ask the Russians. They have a lot of experience at it. Do I advocate torture? Only when the lives of thousands of people are at risk. A little discomfort for one verses the lives of millions… not a difficult choice. By the way, telling the enemy I don’t torture is probably a bad idea.

Now, after our president held a meeting with Kim, the bulk of the media are trying to make it sound like a failure. It might end up being a failure. The president himself said so. That is no reason for the vast majority of the media to rain on his parade. If nothing else, it undercuts the chances of success. Then again, the media does not want him to succeed. For them it is the worst of all possibilities. If it should succeed, it would guarantee his re-election. It would also mean the big blue wave would turn red.

I do find it absurdly humorous the contortions the news anchors go through to make the effort look bad. It is casual to the most obvious observer that what happened is good and they are doing their best to make it look bad. I look forward to seeing what they do should they get rid of the atomic weapons and build hotels along the beachfront of North Korea. Maybe the best thing for them to do would be to go and rent a room at one of the new hotels and spend the rest of their lives there. If they stay here, they might still have jobs, but no one will listen to them.

On the other hand, if the effort fails, they will be sure to make the most of it. After all, failure is what they want, even if it means the loss of millions of lives. I do find this a little ironic. They don’t like a little torture, but all those lives mean so little to them.

It is time to look beyond the deceit and use a little common sense. It is time to look at all the facts, not just the ones that are convenient to the media.
