Reparation

Much has been said in the last decade or so about reparation, right or wrong. I will not try to argue the point one way or the other, just explain some of the complications.

Instantly, if reparations been made right after The Civil War, there would have been at least one problem. Not all blacks were slaves nor were all white southerners slave owners. I can’t remember just what the ratio was but I did see it one day. It seems to me that the quote was one in nine southerners owned slaves. It does seem a bit unfair to make any northerners pay reparation nor the eight out of nine that were just eking out a living, possibly by the labor of their own hands.

Moreover, we would have to find those black men that owned slaves and make them pay. It would only be right. Also, to be sure, there were people in the south that helped the slaves escape. It certainly would not be right to make them pay when they already risked their lives for the sake of slaves. By the way, some of those people did pay the price when they were found out.

There are many things that complicate reparations as time went by. Over the years, the US had enormous immigration. These immigrants had their own problems with bias and mistreatment. It is one reason why many of the police in New York are of Irish descent. Policing was almost the only jobs they could find. Besides, and more important, anyone entering the country after 1865 never had slaves.

My best guess on those stats is that less than 5 percent of those who are white are descendants of slave- owners and it would be difficult me wrong. The problem is identifying them. Finding descendants of slave owners is just almost impossible. Moreover, there are likely many who are mixed. Some may have ancestors from both slave owners and non-slave owners. I would guess the reparations would require determining percentages and make them pay accordingly. That in itself might be quite a trick.

Finally, not all those we call African-Americans or Blacks have ancestors that were slaves. Many have ancestors that immigrated after The Civil War. Do we provide reparations to them too?

The truth is that there is no way that any human or group of humans could determine a fair and equitable way to determine who should pay or who should receive payment for the wrong that has been done, and to be sure, much wrong has been done. (mostly by democrats I might add)

There are but two alternatives. To require all white people to pay to all black people or for no one to pay anyone. One is just as unfair as the other. Besides, just how do we go about determining the amount? This in itself might take years to determine. And after, some would feel wronged from both sides…and they would mostly be right.

One thing I learned early is that life is not fair. Bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people. It is just the way it is.

However, as bad as it was for the ancestors of the Black people, current day Black people do live in the greatest nation in the world. Most of those people are good. A few of them are bad. Yet, each and every one is American at birth. There are people of every nation that would give everything that they have for that, regardless of color.

My own personal opinion is this, that we should all respect one another. Problems begin when we don’t.

Home Shield Advertising

I just saw the advertisement for Home Shield advertising for the ten thousandth time. (I might be off ten or twelve times but who’s counting.)

In the ad they speak of all sorts of things working improperly or not working at all. I find the ad not only ridiculous but downright juvenile as well. I have no plans of paying for repair of products before they break down.

On the other hand, if they are selling the self-powered chairs that can just roll down the sidewalks, I’ll take two. Make that four. My dogs would just love them too,

The Ol’ Red, White and Blue

In general, the three colors in the flag have the following meaning.

The white: Purity and innocence

The red: Hardiness and valor

The blue: Vigilance, perseverance and justice

Originally one stripe was added whenever a state was added. Now, for practical reasons, they decided to make it thirteen stripes, one for each of the original colonies. Within the blue field, there is one star for each state. I had the privilege to have lived under a flag with 48 stars, then 49, then 50.

The concept was that Hawaii would add another republican state and Alaska another democrat state, which only goes to show that things don’t always turn out the way you expect. Sometimes I wish I could have bought a few of the flags with 48 stars. They just might be collectors items.

Over the years, more and more, the red has represented the blood that was given by those who gave their lives to protect both the banner and the nation for which it stands.

Now I ask you, what is it about that flag that makes it unworthy of our respect.

Maybe the nation it represents isn’t perfect. Nonetheless, it symbolizes a nation that is constantly striving to be worthy of the standards it represents. And even if you cannot bring yourself to respect the banner, you should at least respect those who died for it… and your right to complain. The vast number of nations since the beginning of recorded history never had that that right, not even the English who answered to a king until a short time before the American Revelation.

So, go ahead. Tell me what nation has provided its modern citizenry much in exchange for so little. Those who were before us paid for our freedom. With that freedom comes responsibilities. If we abuse our freedom, those behind us will not enjoy it.

So. Next time you see the flag, you just might remember what it cost.

Operation Destruction

From the very instant Biden entered The White House, he started what I believe is Operation Destruction. I am sure of it. The only question in my mind is, was the plan to destroy President Trump’s successes or destroy the US. Then again, he might have planned to destroy both.

Some might argue the point but it does appear obvious. After all, he has had an enormous success at it. If it was not the plan, he could not have had more success. He instantly put thousands of people out of work, destroyed the proper operations at the border (letting in criminals, disease and drugs) and increased our dependency on oil from unfriendly nations. He is currently in the process of destroying the economy, introduced race biased programs (One of which was already declared unconstitutional) and virtually destroyed our law enforcement system. Another year or two he will finish destroying our legal system. The only people in danger of being convicted of crimes will be those who actually want to preserve it.

There was a cartoon strip called Lil Abner. In it were animals called kigmes (kick me), so called because they enjoyed being kicked. It appears that Biden is familiar with the strip. In a matter of a few months, he has painted a big sign across the posterior of our nation, which unmistakably says “Kick me.” And now, just about every country in the world is obliging.

Hence, Biden has done more damage to the US than Russia and China combined for the last decade. At the rate things are going, he will far exceed that. And, by the way, we will quickly get tired of being kicked.

The question at this point is, can we recover or is it already too late?

They Know Better Than We do

One of the primary concepts of the FOCs (Dems) is that they know how to run things better than we do.

I really have a hard time believing that when I see how well they run elections. New York is run virtually by nothing but the friends of criminals and they still haven’t even figured out the basics of counting votes. It just may be the same time next year when they figure out who their new mayor is.

Just perhaps I’m guessing wrong, but it just might be intentional. When it is FOC running against FOC, it is sort of a matter of who is able to cheat the most.
