Triple Purpose for Incarceration

I hear the arguments repeatedly about the reason for incarceration, that is, imprisoning people.  Mostly, the only things discussed is punishment and rehabilitation.  Certainly both are valid.  When a person lives in fear of being imprisoned, they are more likely to obey the law as well.

However, there is a third very important reason for locking people up.  It keeps the bad guys off the street.  If the bank robber is in a prison cell, he can hardly practice his selected trade.  The murderer will not be as apt to murder and the rapist is not likely to rape.

Perhaps the most important result is that the child abuser cannot abuse children.

When the dummycrats turned all the criminals lose on the streets, (mainly NY city) they have but three  things they should expect.  The thieves will steal.  The killers will kill and the rapists will rape.  Indeed they should not be surprised when the child abusers abuse children.

Then again, they are dummycrats.  Can we really expect them to perform such complex reasoning.  While it is true that the chances of catching any disease in prison is higher, is that a reason to endanger the rest of us.

When to Quit

Some folks just don’t don’t know when to quit.

I ordered a pizza over the internet and ever since I received two emails a day from them in an attempt to get me to order more.  Surprise!  It didn’t work.  They angered me so much that I now go elsewhere for my pizzas.  (Did you know Subway makes a very good personal sized pizza?  By the way, it only takes a minute or two.)

I ordered a few books from Books a Million on line.  Now, twice a day they keep sending me messages expecting me to order more.  I wonder how long it will take them to find out that is contra-productive.  Not only that, it angered me.  Not only that, it discourages from ordering anything on line.

They have a little procedure to go through that is supposed to get them to discontinue.  Guess what?  It doesn’t work.  I tried it.  I think it just encouraged them to send more.  Henceforth, their messages will go in my junk folder.  Even before, I didn’t read their ads.  Now I won’t even see them.

I had a plumber come out and fix some stuff in my house.  They did a good job, so the next time I had a problem, I called them.  The woman that answered the phone wanted me to sign up for a yearly plan.  I told her forget the plan; I just want my pipes fixed.

She was stubborn.  She kept trying to sell the plan.  I hung up and called another plumber.  The one did nice work but they simply didn’t know when to quit with the sales gimmicks.

Perhaps, maybe, possibly, one of the best things a person running a company can learn about advertising is just when to quit.  Sometimes, too much is just too much.

By the way, I still don’t buy My Pillow products.  I don’t even watch the ads.  I change the channel or fast forward through them.  I’ve had some practice at it and I’m getting good at it.  However, it does just make me wonder just what kind of an advertising budget the guy has.  My guess is that most of it is wasted.  Yet, he is the one with the big corporation and I am the one living on my Social Security.  I wonder what that says.

Option(s)

When I go to a doctor and he finds a problem with me, he frequently gives me a list of options for me.  Occasionally, a doctor gives his patient only one option.  Sometimes there is but one treatment for a ailment and there is no alternative, other than to let the illness take its course.

When Jesus prayed in the garden to “…let this cup pass from me.”, He probably already knew the answer.  Yet, for us, He still voiced the prayer.  Also, there was likely a last minute hope.  Let’s face it.  He was facing a terrible ordeal, and that is a gross understatement.

So it was that He went to the cross to pay for our sins.  Don’t you know that if there was another way, God would have answered His prayer and provided another way.  The fact that He went to the cross is proof that there was no other way.

Therefore, if anyone tells you that there are other ways into heaven, you might remind them of this.  Our sickness is sin and the only cure was and is his blood.  There is no other option.  There is no other way.  If there was, it would make His death pointless and it would mean He did it all for nothing.

Moreover, nothing can be added to it.  Nothing can be taken away from it.  Any attempt to add to it, is to imply his death is not enough.  Any attempt to add to it, is to imply that it is possible to add anything to it.

Many say that it is pride to say that I am going to heaven and I know it.  I say that it is a lack of faith for me to say less.  Jesus’s provided my healing and nothing else.  Nothing else will.

[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: [9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.  (Ephesians 2:8-9)

A side note:  It is impossible to earn a gift.  If it is earned, then it is no longer a gift.  Therefore, it is impossible to earn the gift of salvation.  It must be received as a gift through faith.  Any other teaching is deceit.

Remember.  You might not like the rules, but neither do you make them.  There is no way any of us will ever change them.
