A Somewhat Confusing Question

Daily Prompt Favorite animal

May I assume the question implies other than pets. I guess. If not then it’s easy. Dogs and cats. I have had many of both; even at the same time.

I guess if we are talking wild animals, I do like wolves. I understand some have tamed them but even a half wolf is dangerous. They can turn on you very quickly.

I am also very fascinated by elephants. They do seem to be be quite intelligent. I guess, if they are trained well, they are very friendly too.

Certainly, we don’t want to leave the horse out of it. Then again, horses are almost two different animals. Wild, they are a wonderful sight to see. On the other hand, tamed, they are very good as work multipliers. They provide transportation; work, such as pulling stumps; enjoyment for riding. I did find it odd that, of all the animals, God told the Israelites to not multiply horses. Yet, both David and Salomon did. I have never seen an explanation of why they weren’t supposed to but God did make it very clear.

I certainly love to see an eagle soar. I have also seen a few in captivity, being rehabbed. Also, they had one on the tour of that studio out in Los Angeles. They had the eagle do a few tricks for us. They also had a few other birds, but that eagle was very impressive.

Many times I had a desire to go up to Horseshoe Lake and watch them up there, but it just never worked out. Seems there was always something else to do; somewhere else I needed to go.

If I may digress for just a second. Of all the dogs I’ve had, my favorite were the border collies. It was very nice to have them around and I could tell, they likes us too, especially when it came to car rides. Every day when I got home from work, he watched from inside the fence until I got out of the car. Then he ran inside the house to greet me.

A Loose Quote From Sir Winston Churchill

According to Sir Winston Churchill, young folks who are not liberal have no hearts. Older folks who aren’t conservative have no brains. I have heard the quote many times and I have read it almost as many times, but it was not until recently that I realize that he was describing himself. Indeed, in his youth he was a member of the liberal party. Later, as he became older, he became very conservative. For that reason, I guess we can say the the man did have both a heart and a brain.

I guess we can’t say the same for Old Joe. He is currently very old and he is still very liberal. My guess is the man never had a brain. Moreover, if the Churchill test is true, we can definitely say he is currently without a brain now.

On the other hand, I was never liberal. Just what does that say about me?

Moreover, it does bring an important thing to mind. If only the founding fathers had been able to hear the quote while writing the Constitution, they just might have written in a minimum voting age of 25, for all voting. Maybe then, we would not be in this mess. Just maybe Old Joe would be taking things easy in his expensive beach house. Or maybe not. It is quite conceivable that he he’d not have all his lucre with which he bought the expensive home in the first place.

What Should We Think?

Suddenly, they want to bring soldiers back in that were kicked out for not taking the shot.

I simply have no idea of what to think of it.

Thing is, I would be very suspicious before I would go back in. I might even demand a comlete pardon. It is the only true way to completely erase any record of any implications of guilt. I would also insist on backpay and time in service and rank.

I would not require it if President Trump asks for me to return but Old Joe is one character I’d never trust.

Just what is their motive, anyway?

My Three Pet Peeves

Daily prompt

1. Uncourteous drivers. This just almost accounts for all 3 peeves by itself.

2. People who will not own up to that which they do or say.

3. Over advertising, especially when the ads are bad to begin with. This is all the worse when they use my phone, which I pay for to do their advertising. Again even worse when they are advertising for their Medicare programs. It is getting near the point that it irritates as much as fingernails on blackboards.

By the way, this does not include that TV ad for Hershey Kisses they show every Christmas. I will never tire of that one.

Wish List

I have no earthly idea why, but I really like the Audi commercial that asks, is it really a wish list if it only has but one wish on it?

I know, not much of a reason, but I do find the question intriguing. Just how many things must be on a list in order for it to be a list. Is it a shopping list if it only has milk & bread?

I remember the year that my Christmas list consisted of just one thing, a bicycle. Well, I did get the bike, but I must admit that I got a few other things too. I think maybe of all the things I received for Christmas, that bicycle was my favorite.

I have no idea how many miles I put on that bike, but I rode it to school, to friends homes, to the store for milk and bread. Sometimes, I just rode it cause I liked riding it.

I guess I was in the 5th or 6th grade when I got it and I used it through the twelfth grade. I have no idea how many flats I fixed on it. I even had to replace a broken front fork. I guess you could say I wore it out.

Maybe, if I had the money, I might have bought the Audi. It would have certainly had a place on my Christmas list. However, I already got my wish, the Nissan. Very likely it will also be well used. Unless I start selling my books, and a bunch of them, I won’t likely buy any more cars.

Speaking of books, maybe a few of you can put a few of my books on your lists. They might not be great, but I believe you will enjoy them. Just look on my about page for a list and it really is a list. More than 35 titles. Many are parts of series.

[Now, how’s that for a segway?]

Three Reasons

Genesis 22, the 1st 19 verses discibes the well known events leading to Abraham almost sacrificing his son, Issac on an alter. I would copy the text, but you can, and I would hope you would read it from your Bible. Please do not take my word on any part of it.

However, my point of this post is to consider, just why would God put Abraham through such an ordeal. I have actually heard some say that it was to allow Abraham to prove his faith and obedience to God.

That reason gets a big hole in it with one simple question. What would make anyone think God had any doubts about the outcome. Before He formed the earth, He knew Abraham would not fail Him.

So, what was His purpose? Actually, He had three reasons. After you read this, I am sure you’ll agree He accomplished all three.

First, Abraham confirmed he would do it. It removed all of Abrahams doubt. Also, It gave God a reason to reward him before men.

As a sidenote, child sacrifice was common in that day. So, secondly, God established that that Abraham was just as obedient to God as the others were to the idles.

Finally, and most important, he set the example for the future. Of course, Abraham had no idea at the time, but he was painting a picture of the sacrifice of God offering his Son, Jesus as a sacrifice for us.

For sure, God did know the outcome ahead of time, but it does make me wonder. If Abraham chose not to be obedient, just what repercussions would there have been? It is one of those questions I would just as soon never know the answer to.

However, you and I both know, the picture certainly verifies Christian beliefs, even for those who try to deny it.

One Time They Got It Right, Thankfully

I have noticed that advertisers have a tendency to speak to a products weakness. For instance, when they advertise that something is reliable, I have suspicions it isn’t.

In one instance the advertiser got it right and every time I get a cold, I’m thankful. For years and years I bought the other kind of tissue and suffered the proverbial Rudolf nose.

The first time I heard the ad, I went out and bought some of the Puff’s tissues and I haven’t had sore nose sinse. To be sure, I sniffled and sneezed, but I have not had a sore or red nose.

Okay, call me over-sensitive. I admit it. Still, I am wondering why they didn’t come up with the idea decades earlier.

Beach or Mountains

Daily prompt

Do I prefer beach or mountains?

This is a really tough one. I guess I have to say beach. However, where I live, there isn’t much of either. There are lakes and rivers nearby, but none are fit for swimming. As Mark Twain said, the Mississippi is too thick to drink and thin to plow. There are a few lakes around, but they are nothing like the beaches of s. California.

There used to be some good public pools, but thanks to the lawyers, they went out of business. Law suits made insurance prohibitive.

When we were younger, we rented a hotel room closeby and used their pool. Regardless, the price of hotels with pools have gotten expensive.

It is the worst part about leaving California. Weather, beaches, mountains and amusement parks and folks are still leaving the place. Shows what the dems can do with paradise in a couple of decades.

Right now, I’d say any place where the dems don’t run things is good for me. If you’d kick in some sandy beaches, all the better. I would say Florida, but according to the experts, it will all be 4 feet under water in a decade.

Guess I’ll just stay here.

Good News / Bad News

Good news: Turkeys cost less this year.

Bad news: They are more expensive than before the China virus.

More bad news: Fauci still is not incarcerated. So far, he has not paid for the loss of one death for which he is responsible. I figure he will. By the way, he will also pay for all the spikes in the cost of everything. God does know how to deal out justice far better than any human.
