Gravity: Consistant & Reliable

Drop something, it “falls,” all things. Moreover, the rate at which it falls is totally predictable. It is based on the mass, the air resistance & so on. You notice I put falls in quotes. That implies the direction it “falls” is always the same, down.

Down, of course is aways defined as toward the earth’s center. Never is it this way or that way. Always down. Perhaps for millenia, mankind have thought about that. In recent history, huge papers have been written on the subject since Issac Newton & Leonardo de Vinci. People have been studying it and we still still know little more than we did, maybe less.

Perhaps, the one thing that amazes me the most is the way it reaches out into the millions of light years and helps control the orbits of orbits.

The average person thinks the astronaut in orbit has escaped gravity, but not so. It just is that he has other has another force acting on him, inertia. Take the inertia away, that big space station will fall like a big piece of metal.

By the way, Inertia is an awfully reliable force too. Then again, there are many laws of science we only pretend to understand. Isn’t it amazing how God put it all together? He did it all without our help.

Then, oddly, there are those who say God doesn’t exist. It all just happened by accident. And all those laws of science just fell in place without anyone setting them in place.

Just what requires more faith, the presence of God, or that it all just happened. I’m putting my faith in God. The gravity that is caused by accident can fail at any time, by accident…as well as well the thousands of other laws we must trust daily. We must, like it or not.

Great Comment

Although I have had this blog for, I guess 4 or 5 years now, I don’t know all the ins and outs, so I will not risk the possibility of giving away anyone’s privacy. However, there was a person that made a comment on my post, Photography.

I must admit it hit me hard in that, for a short time, it confused me. I just couldn’t imagine anyone not having a regular camera, with shutter speeds, f-stops and focus.

It made me realize that I have lived through a total evolution of technology. I actually saw the use of the big press cameras that used the flash bulbs. Back when I was a boy, most photos were black & white. Color was something reserved for Christmas and Easter pictures. The color was very expensive.

I took most of my pictures in slides, which saved a lot of money. It did have the drawback of needing the slide projector and darkening of the room, but what huge and bright brilliant images. I guess the regular screen was about 4X5 feet. However, I used bed sheets and still the image was sharp.

I’m not sure, but I think that some of the old slides rival the resolution of all but the most expensive electronic images today.

The technology really affected 5 major industries. Naturally, it hit the photographers, pro and amateur. Consider the wedding photographers. Their biggest competition now is the customer with a cell phone.

The TV industry, just a decade or so ago went through an enormous revolution. One day, the images, size and resolution, takes a huge step forward.

Perhaps the largest change is in personal photography. In the past, you heard, “Quick, Jim. Get the camera. I think Joey’s going to take his first step!” Today, you just keep your phone handy. If it turns out to be a false alarm, you can just remove the video. On the other hand, you can keep it. The memory cards are cheap.

You would think the big silver screen would be immune to the change and the huge reels of plastic would last forever. Not so. I suspect within a decade or two all film images will fall by the wayside, and replaced by the microchips.

I suppose the biggest change is the media itself. Kodak used to be a big part of US industry. No more need for instant film development. Polaroid, to the best of my knowledge, no longer makes any kind of film.

It makes me wonder about Technicolor and all their competitors. Personally, I liked Technicolor. The images always seemed to have a special brilliance.

I am sure I have overlooked a lot. On the other hand, is it really practical to include it all in one large post.

I guess the one comment might seem small to many. To me, it launched me into a lifetime of memories. Memories of memories, so to speak.

Thanks .

ONE LAW?

I have a list of them. May I include a group of them, as in each legal voter would be allowed one vote and no one would be permitted to vote for anyone else.

The trick is that in order for that to happen, many laws would have to be changed, mainly in registering. Honest efforts would be needed to make sure that those laws and the old laws would need to be followed.

What i would really hope for is for folks to follow the ones we have. Instead we have an army of lawyers that help those who are dishonest find ways around the spirit of the law.

Then too, there are those who openly, intentionally ignore the laws we already have without penalty. This even to the point they make no attempt to hide it.

Indeed the law ignorer in chief sits in a chair, behind a big nice desk, in an oval office, in a big white house, on Pennsylvania Ave. sometimes. When he isn’t taking a nap.

Old Joe says he needs laws to control the border while he ignores the oodles of laws that are there. If he had more laws, he would ignore them too, that is, unless he could use them to lock up those that actually seek to properly enforce the laws we have.

If you had the power to change one law, what would it be and why?

Border Bill?

Do you suppose that McConnell can write a border Bill that would actually improve conditions on the border?

Nope. Not going to happen. First, he is in favor of low wages for the rinos and he just can’t seem to separate it from Israel and Ukraine.

Best to have three bills so us real Republicans can determine who is voting for what. If they are voting for open or closed borders, we’ll know. If the are voting for Israel, we will know. If they are voting for Ukraine, we will know.

One thing I do know, the border part of the bill would fall flat by itself. It would make it worse and it would make it permanent. No one in the oval office could ever fix it.

Better to take a big sword and slice into confetti.

Photography

Used to have three cameras. Over time, I took, perhaps 2 or 3 thousand pictures.

I have lost interest for 3 reasons.

  1. Lack of subjects.
  2. Change of medium. I lliked 35 mm film. Now anyone with a phone has countless pictures. I am not saying it is worse, just different.
  3. Purpose. I am old. No one wants my pictures. When I die, I don’t guess anyone will want any of the pictures I have. I do still take a photo now and then, but once I am gone, but I doubt any will outlive me.

They Don’t Mean it

It is a blatant lie. They know it and they know we know we don’t believe it. At least twice a day, they still tell the lie on radio in hopes of changing our minds.

The so-called covid 19 inoculations don’t work. I would guess they made an effort at it, but I had it and, since then, I am sure I have had the virus 3 times. I am not alone. Some of those that had the inoculations suffered from the inoculations. Some died from it.

And now, the argument is being made, “let’s knock out covid 19,” as if we can strike it with blow our fist and the dreaded disease will go away. It won’t happen that way. The virus will not go away from the inoculations. However, of course, those who make the inoculations will have a very healthy bottom line.

Meanwhile , the government keeps us from using things that do work.

Now let me see. Do you suppose the government is providing financial aid to those who make that which works not? This, of course while some of us suffer illness, while young people suffer long term heart problems, and some even die…needlessly.

Couldn’t Figure it Out

Ordered a little, I guess you call it a wallet. I call it a credit card holder. When I got it, I couldn’t figure it out. As I put one of my cards in there, I was afraid I’d not get it out again. However, after about 30 minutes, I figured it out. It works great and has for quite a while, I guess about a year now.

I suppose it is designed to fit up to 8, but I never have more than 6, many of those are not credit cards. When I need one of the cards, I push a lever and up pops 3 cards, somewhat separated. Sorry, just cant think of the right word. Nonetheless, if I want my Kroger card, it is easy to separate if from the other 2. If I want one of the other 3 cards, I use the other lever.

It actually works faster than the wallet I was using and the other wallet was cracking and breaking the cards. The card easily goes back into the place designed for it. Once I figured it out, it works far better than I expected. Moreover, I have gotten a number of complements on it. Someone sees me get a card out and they say something like, “Wow. That’s neat.” I think maybe I should keep the name of web site handy for the next person that asks about it.

It has some side benefits. The cards are safe from hacking and I would suppose, they do provide some anti-theft advantages.

Just thought I’d pass it on to someone, maybe looking for a solution. Sorry, like all other wallets, it is not large enough for SS cards or Medicare cards. I figure one day, they will either make the cards smaller or the wallets bigger. They just might switch from paper to plastic as well, but not likely in my lifetime.

As mentioned, I got it through Amazon. I looked it up and it appears that they are still sold through Amazon and VM Fashion also has its own site. I don’t know. I might buy another, maybe two. The size is 3.74 x 2.56 x 0.59 inches, not much larger profile than the card itself. Also, as I checked, I noticed they had many other things along the same line. There might be a good gift among them.

Might I remind one and all, I do not get money for this blog site. I am not receiving anything in return for this post. It just is, when I see a good idea, I figure I should pass it on, for whatever good it might serve.

The 10 Commandments

Diligently obey them. They will benefit you.

As a family, know them and follow them. Better for the children. Better for the grandchildren.

As a community, learn the lessons and live. It is better than suffering and dying.

Even if you believe not in them, it will still benefit all to follow them. It is not magic. It isn’t even religious. They are the gift provided by God because He loves us and they are not intended as a straight jacket.

When we rebel, it is our own fault we suffer. Murder, lying, theft and adultery all leads to destruction. Being jealous of others leads to theft, adultery and murder. Idols, what good are they? Who has benefited from them other than those seeking deception by making and selling them.

Think about it, if it can be made and or sold, what power can it possess, other than that from Satan or the demons.

Who else but God has provided such a great gift for us?

Why or for what reason should we act so spiteful to Him?

Yet, we do. Even those of us that know better. Oddly, it seems we must relearn the lessons we have all learned before. Fortunately, he forgives us, over and over again.

However… there is one thing God will not forgive anyone. If anyone dies not believing in Jesus as his or her savior, he will forever suffer for every sin ever he or she committed. All will learn the lesson eventually. No one should wait until after they die. At that point it will be too late, no matter how good a life he or she lived.

Definition of Golf

Waste of time

Waste of space

Waste of money

Somehow, I suspect I have just lost a follower or two. Maybe 3. But I have said I will write what I believe. When my kids were young, I couldn’t help but think about all those lush green acres that could be a nice park. I would have settled for a 20th of it for the kids.

Moreover, with all that office space, so many things are settled on the 9th or 10th hole. Maybe we could reduce the office. The going green folks would definitely like that. Less air conditioning and heating.

Then, of course there is the time going to and from the golf course, the time waiting for tee-time, and the time changing. And, oh yes. The energy used sometimes traveling good distances.

Some might suggest that businesses and government would come to a screeching stop without golf. Maybe. Then again I would prefer some of it all was slowed. I am sure the USA would be better off without some of those 19th hole deals.

EV Police Cars

They are on the way. So far, as near as I can tell, Teslas are already in use. Ford Mustangs are being tested. England, Germany and Italy are looking at them.

Don’t ask me how the big problems will be solved. After an hour on the net, I found not one hint. As an aside, I found out one of those incredibly cold countrys, Norway I think has a purchase rate of over 90 EV. That’s right. Reread it 3 times. I guess they don’t like gas so much.

The only thing I can figure is that gas cars require heating for batteries and crank case and cabin when it gets 20 below. Batteries become useless unless they are kept warm and oil gets really thick below zero. I know a guy that lived in Alaska and he had to plug his car in before going in the store.

At any rate, my best wild guess. They are making massive improvements in batteries. Mainly, they are decreasing the weight and cost. I would guess they will double the batteries. With all that, they might get the range upto 500, maybe 550 miles. With that and a full charge at the beginning of each day might allow them to make it to the end of day without a recharge.

According to the web sites I saw, they will cost your local department a tad shy of 100 thousand. However, you will like it that they will be able to charge it by wind or sun, depending on the weather.
