Does That Include Tomatoes

I have heard that some folks say tomatoes are not fruits but veggies. I don’t know. I’ll just call them fruits for now. They are very good you know, on salads, hamburgers and sandwiches. Don’t tell anyone, but sometimes I simply chop them up and eat the pieces. Sometimes I eat them with my sausages and eggs for breakfast. It sort of depends on if I have any.

I have tried to grow them. I’ve been told it is easy. That, I guess, makes me a total failure as a farmer. With two plants I had two decent sized tomatoes. They were pretty good though. There is something to be said about a tomato fresh picked.

The place I lived out in California had a banana tree that grew small bananas. They were small but they were very good. Again, It’s likely because it is right off the tree. I do believe bananas are best on cereal. When I use bananas, I don’t use sugar at all on my cornflakes.

Strawberries are great. A neighbor had a patch of them and let me pick one now and then. It spoiled me. I like store bought berries but I miss the neighbor’s berries better. We tried one year to grow them. End of story.

Love grapes in almost any form. I eat them off the clusters as raisins and in grape juice. Well, I drink the juice. You get the idea.

As I mentioned before, I really like pineapples on pizzas. My wife does like to steal them all, so I have to be fast. They are also good on ham and slow cooked chicken. Occasionally, I’ll eat a few pieces by themselves, but I am not one who for things with strong flavors.

Now, let me see. I think that is already five but let me add one more. We used to have an orange tree in our backyard when I lived in orange county. Now, isn’t that something. Good food on the tree. All I had to do was reach up and pick it. The only work was peeling it. I did get good at it. I had lots of practice.

There was a small problem though. Every time I bit into it, I got the juice all over my hands and face. I guess, I am just one of those complainers. Always have to find something to complain about.

Worse Than Hitler

It is a phrase commonly used by the dems, very erroneously I might add.  It is the dems who have cost the lives of millions, not Trump.  It is the dems who hate the Israelis, not Trump, who returned to the capital of Israel to Jerusalem after many failed before him.  If anyone deserves the title of Nazis, it’s the dems who insist on the cease fire in Gaza.

Nonetheless, there are two men who were worse than Hitler, Marx and Darwin.

To be sure, Darwin was an inspiration to Hitler.  It was he who inspired the concept of ‘survival of the fittest.’  It was Darwin who gave Hitler the idea of eliminating inferior races.  It is why he wanted to destroy the Jews and the blacks as well as anyone who had any disabilities.  Also, it is Darwin who inspired the Scopes monkey trial, which initiated driving God out of our schools and the teaching of evolution.

So, when you talk of the 6 million Jews killed by Hitler, let’s remember it started with Darwin.  Moreover, Hitler began the WWII on the basis of the theory of evolution.  For this reason, you can pretty well accredit every life lost in the European theater to Darwin, though he never pulled a trigger. (not that I know of)

On the other hand, Marx inspired the likes of Stalin and Lenin.  While neither ever really wanted Marxist communism, they used it to sell their leadership, while justifying the killing and imprisoning untold millions in the process.  Between the two of them, they killed over ten million in the name of communism.  Thanks to Mr. Marx, millions of Jews were forced from Russia and right into the waiting arms of Hitler.

I have found it odd, but it is possible that Hitler saved the world from the likes Stalin and Linen.  Hitler put a stop to communism in Europe and might have slowed communism long enough to keep them from taking over the world.  I don’t know.  Just a thought that I won’t confirm this side of eternity.  Perhaps it is the reason to the oft asked question of why God did not kill Hitler.

Of course, Mao, another Marxist, killed, perhaps as many as 50 million while establishing his kingdom.  Then to make matters worse, after his revolution, even more were dying of starvation, which caused him to turn to Indochina for food.  That, in turn resulted in problems in Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia.  Therefore, we can ultimately thank Marx for the loss of American armed forces in Korea as well as Vietnam.  However, it did not stop there.  Pot killed just about one forth of the population of Cambodia while establishing his kingdom there, though it was in the name of communism.

So, oddly, after all this history, you’d think we would know better.  You’d think people would learn.  However, it is true, people are quick to believe the lie and slow to accept the truth.

The biologists all over the world worship evolution and the economists bow down before the god of communism.  It would seem they worship the same gods as Hitler, Lenin and Stalin did.  Moreover, they come down hard on anyone that refuses to accept their religion beliefs.  At first, they made fun of us.  Now, those of us who refuse to follow their unproved and unworkable beliefs are apt to end up in prison or, in some cases, dead.

It is how they love to work.  Remember, they have no fear of God.  Their religion is communism.  They want us too, to fear and follow communism, though they know it will never work.  Indeed, it is about power.  It is all about the power and they don’t like it when we fear God more than them.

There is no telling how many will die because of the writings of Marx and Darwin, but God already knows.  And He will see to it that the 2 of them pay for the every one of those deaths especially children.  It will make them wish they never picked up a pen and paper.  Also, He will make sure those who spread the false religion will pay for it too.  He really does know how to do that.

Prison for Punishment

Somewhere over the decades, the so-called experts stopped thinking of imprisonment as punishment. The jails and prisons are more hospitable. Many criminal types actually have learned to like prisons.

Why not. There is no more hard work. They all have radios and TV. The food might not be five star, but it’s basically free. The medical isn’t the best, but they don’t pay a dime for it. Moreover, they get transplants and sex charges for nothing.

No prisoner ever needs to concern himself about a roof over his head or a place to rest his head.

More and more I have to ask myself, just what is the hope of imprisonment, punishment or reward.

There was an “expert” on the news this morning hinting that, not only do the prisons not work, but they are getting overcrowded. To me that makes sense. Prisons are no longer something to fear or even dislike.

It is important to remember, there are 4 purposes for prisons. Punishment, deterrent, rehabilitate and, keep civilization safe from criminals. It seems everyone nowadays want to remember rehabilitate and forget the other 3. For sure, if the prisons were enough of a deterrent, there would be no problem with overcrowding.

As a side note, if we have schools teaching that men are just a little more than apes, why should anyone have any respect for anyone else. What benefits are there for treating our fellow man like anything more than a dog? Indeed, some folks do have more respect for dogs.

Looking For Ideas

The news reports five states that just might determine the election. I figure New York and California are lost causes anyway. So all we need to do is come up with a way to get democrats from these five states to move to California and New York.

There is one hitch to that. The problem is people are leaving those states, not moving in. I’m afraid not even the fantastic weather of California or the sites of New York will draw many, from any of the other states.

Bridges

Recently, stories have been released in the news on bridges Locally, they say they will replace the current 4 lane bridge with a new one, expected to cost a billion dollars. I do hope to live long enough to see just how much the cost over runs will be. If I were a betting man, I’d have to put my bet on at least 1.3 billion. Invariably all government projects take 30% more than planned.

Truth be told, I think it is planned that way. I’ll let you speculate why. I have my own guesses.

One thing I do find interesting is that I did have some difficulty determining how many lanes it will have. Let’s face it, what is the point of replacing a 4 lane bridge with a 4 lane bridge. It seems to me it would simply be better to put the bridge somewhere else.

After some searching on the web, I found where they said they “hope” to make it at least 6 lanes. I have two concerns about that. Is it 6 lanes or not. More importantly, they will likely start pouring concrete soon. I would hope they have their minds made up by then.

As something as a secondary thought. Even if they are going to a 6 lane bridge, wouldn’t it be better to put it somewhere else? That way, 6 lanes are added instead of 2.

Even if the idea is to cease use of the old bridge, putting the bridge elsewhere removes the need of demolition of the old bridge. Well, the demolition isn’t likely that much anyway, just a couple of few million. I am sure the government can afford it.

Switching attention east. Just a simple straightforward suggestion on the Francis Scott Key Bridge. If they commenced tunneling, they might have been almost done now. Right now, I would guess they are over a month away from starting the foundation of the bridge.

On another note, it is really difficult for a ship to run into a tunnel.

McDonald’s Error

I noticed on the news is McDonald’s is making changes. I would guess they are having problems, which is no surprise to me. I mean when it takes 15 minutes, literally, to serve a barely warm Big Mac, they are headed for real problems. Marketing is important but it will only go so far.

The company broke into fast food by serving good tasting food fast. Now there are many “nice sit down” places that serve food faster. As a matter of fact, I just visited a good Mexican place that served me a good meal in less than the 15 minutes. It does make me ask, why should anyone go to McDonald’s when we can get a much better meal at not much more cost?

Personally, I have found when I am in a hurry, it’s hard to beat Subway. Unless they have an unusually long line, I’m usually eating within 5 or 6 minutes after entering the door. Chick-fil-A is fast too, but I usually have a long walk across the parking lot. I suppose it is a reasonable price for popularity.

At any rate, it’s sort of difficult for the McDonald’s employees to provide reasonably good service when they are so busy talking amongst themselves. Many-a-time, I have had to wait for the conversation to be completed before I could expect any attention.

Mostly, if people have to wait 15 minutes for less than hot food, McDonald’s will likely just fade away, regardless of any marketing methods.

As an aside, the same thing can be said of other fast food places too. I mean it is basic. People go to fast food places to get food fast.

Don’t Like Cold Weather

I’ve said this before and I will say it again. I was brought up in southern California, which for sure spoiled me. So, don’t like cold. Don’t like hot. Certainly don’t like humidity.

One might ask, then, why did I leave California? Even more so, don’t like the California politics. Don’t like California taxes. Don’t like California crowds.

Food Courts

Before our days of our empty nest, we liked to visit the local malls from time to time. We really liked the Mall of Memphis, which is no more.

The thing is, most of the malls had a place, generally called a food court. At the food court, there were generally close to 10 or 12 different places to eat.

The rest of the family didn’t much care for Asian food, so it was usually the only time I got to eat fried rice and egg rolls. My wife went to the Chick-fil-A. The older son preferred just a hamburger and fries. The younger almost always made a beeline for the pizza place.

A short time later, we gathered at a table and enjoyed our varied lunch together. Not only did we all enjoy the specific food we liked, it always seemed to be the best of what we liked.

Over the years, I have considered it. I have wondered. I’ve given it a lot of thought. Could it be that several restaurants could get together and build something of a free standing food court with the same benefits.

Okay. I’m only thinking about it. I have learned over my many years not to expect too much. And I do believe that is expecting too much. What a shame.
