Fifty Times a Day

The man said, “Giving up cigarettes is one of the easiest things I ever did. I did it fifty times a day.” I have often said that food addiction is probably one of the most difficult of all. It is ultimately impossible because none of us is able to go cold turkey and just stop eating. I mean, at some point, giving it up is worse than getting fat. As one who fights the battle of the bulge, I am all too aware of the temptations. One minute I am saying outlaw chocolate; the next, I am scarfing it up by the pound. Thank goodness for diet drinks, or I’d have been pushing up the proverbial daisies years ago.

Many problem drinkers adamantly claim, “I’m not an alcoholic. I can stop drinking whenever I want.” Yet, the irony lies in the fact that they never actually want to quit. A preacher once colorfully described this phenomenon, suggesting such individuals have a “broken wanter” – a metaphorical term implying a deep-seated inability to truly desire change, despite outward assertions of control over their drinking habits.

Please forgive me for zeroing in on the problem drinker. Though he would seem to be one of the biggest problems in society, he is far from being the only one. My doctor says I should not eat so many hamburgers. And, by the way, I can give up hamburgers any time I want. However, habits, really deadly bad habits, extend throughout the US. Indeed, it would seem to be most problematic in societies with the greatest wealth.

Perhaps I should not say that. Someone might suggest that my Social Security be halved as a treatment for my clogged arteries.

I suppose, ideally, the easiest way to resolve the problem is to repair those little wanters that the preacher mentioned. However, before we could hope to do that, we would need to find the little things.

Some might go so far as to outlaw certain foods. Some substances are already illegal. Yet, each year the problem only seems to get worse. I think that close to half of our law enforcement efforts are spent eradicating harmful substances now.

Ah, the classic dilemma: solve chaos with total control or embrace the beautiful mess of human imperfection. I’d rather dance with disorder than waltz into a surveillance state—some cures are deadlier than the disease.

Work for Food?

Yesterday, a young man knocked on my door offering to rake the leaves in my yard. I was a bit surprised, as my yard was already mostly clear of fallen leaves. I politely informed him that his services were not needed at this time.

When he asked for food, I initially hesitated, as I generally avoid giving money to panhandlers. However, he did not seem to be begging outright, so I decided to offer him a five-dollar bill, which may not have gone far in today’s economy, but could still provide him with sustenance for a day or two.

The reason I avoid giving money to beggars is that it can become habit-forming and a way of life. It is better that I encourage people to earn their living; it is better for them than for me. The worst thing to do for someone is to teach them to beg.

Unfortunately, some individuals have resorted to begging as a means of survival. The pleas they make, while varied, often follow a similar pattern, such as requesting assistance with transportation costs to return home. It appears that even the smallest denominations of currency have become insufficient due to the effects of inflation on their circumstances.

Besides learning bad habits, it also creates problems for those who truly need help, those who are genuinely hungry, though they have made real attempts. To be sure, I say no to those in true need because of the fakes.

I noticed just a while ago on TV, they pointed out the starvation in Africa. It both angers me and pulls at my heartstrings. The reason those people are going hungry has nothing to do with the lack of generosity of Americans. It has rather been caused by the greed of some individuals, mostly dems, who have diverted the aid to themselves.

Unfortunately, it has been repeatedly proven that our government is the least effective and efficient way of distributing groceries. Indeed, much of the food and supplies never reach their intended destinations.

This has been proven again with the audits of USAID. However, it didn’t start there. Remember the aid sent to Puerto Rico. It happens every time. We send three times the aid they need, and they receive only two-thirds of what they need.

It would be great to send food to those hungry people, if it would reach them. The problem is that thieves tend to pilfer the supplies along the way.

After the Lies

While some may find my language overly strong, I believe it is necessary to convey the gravity of the situation. The countless deaths and immense economic damage that have resulted from these mistakes warrant a forceful response. It is important to address these issues directly and without equivocation.

HOW-SOME–EVER! The actions were deliberate, not accidental. There is a distinction between intentional and unintentional wrongdoing. For this reason, I criticize the leadership of the CDC and, by extension, the previous administration.

And now, somehow, we are supposed to look to the CDC for future guidance. Why? I, personally, have had three blood clots after taking the so-called vaccination the China virus. Not so much as one before. Now, I must take very expensive blood thinners for the rest of my life.

Now, they are telling us to take the vaccines, for the China virus, for the flu, for pneumonia, etc. Are we supposed to trust them? When they require all the various shots before going to school, are we supposed to just take their word for it that they are safe?

Don’t get me wrong. I am in favor of the shots for measles, mumps, etc. However, maybe it is time to take another look at the safety of them. Given the CDC’s record, I do believe it’s warranted. Moreover, would it really hurt? Is the CDC afraid of what will be found? Are those who produce them afraid that they might have to take something off the market until a problem is addressed? Mostly, are they afraid that they, the industry, will take still another hit to their reputation?

The recent concerns about the measles outbreak are understandable and valid. However, it is also important to consider the potential health implications of uncontrolled border crossings.

It suggests that their interests, motivations, and endeavors are misguided or misaligned. It also suggests that when I used the word “lie,” it is more appropriate than using the word “fib.” Indeed, the word “lie” is not strong enough.

Possible Flu Weapon

I never was the brightest kid in high school. Of course, my grades would have been much better if I hadn’t insisted on courses like algebra and chemistry. I made good grades in English and history without half an effort. I just couldn’t see making a living by conjugating verbs or knowing when Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

Looking back on it, I do wish I did learn more about history and English. I can now see how it would have helped. Still, I do get by and I did learn a lot about chemistry and quadratic equations. However, I have found I use English far more than imaginary numbers.

How-some-ever, I still leaned my share of science. Though they never said so at the time, I have found that history and science are tightly intertwined. There is a lot of electronics in history and a whole bunch of history involved in chemistry.

Go figure. A person could actually learn history and science kind of simultaneously. I mean, it’s a little difficult to learn about the old River boats without also learning a little about steam, even if by accident.

Now, why would I write all this? Well, don’t you find it very fascinating. I do

Nonetheless, I was combining my history education with my scientific concepts, limited as they may be. I have heard that the main reason flu spreads so much more during the winter is because we spend so much more time in close proximity to each other.

That is likely true. Not only does it sound logical, but that is also what the smart people say. Yet, I was thinking. My wife always gets upset with me for that. She ask me, “Don’t you ever give your brain a rest?!” Yeah. It is something of a sore spot betwixt us. Must not be that serious, though. We have been married for over 50 years and she has been putting up with all my thinking, even before we were married.

Well, that has nothing to do with the flu. The point is, has anyone ever done any serious research on it. Maybe, perhaps, it might remotely possibly be, this theory might be wrong. Have we been making an assumption that isn’t scientific.

If, of course, someone has done the research and has statistics to backup the theory, if this is the case, then I just wasted a lot of words and I have exposed a bunch of my ignorance. Well, maybe I did that, anyway.

So, if it’s not the closeness that enhances the spread, what could it be? What other theory is even possible, let alone, probable?

This is where my thinking comes in. This is the part that angers my wife. What if it is vitamin D? In the winter we don’t get as much sun so we don’t get as much vitamin D. Actually, that part is a given. None of us get nearly as much sun in the winter.

I would have never, ever thought of it but for the China virus. I have no idea of the validity, but I heard from many different people that vitamin D helps to protect us from the virus. So, I made the connection. If vitamin D protects us from the one thing, why not the other?

Am I right? Am I wrong? I am the first to say, I have no real evidence.

Then again, the national health experts had no proof the vaccine worked on children and yet they recommended it. There was no evidence at all that it wound help our young military men and yet they were forced to take the vaccine or they were forced out of the service.

I submit my conjecture is as strong as there’s with one difference. The vitamin D is known to be harmless. At this point, we know the vaccine has danger associated with it.

Just one more thing before you completely dismiss my theory. Kids are less affected by the China virus. Kids drink more milk… Fortified with vitamin D. Older folks drink less milk, more coffee. The older people spend more time indoors. Us older people are more susceptible. I am an exception. I drink a lot of milk. I am sure I had that dreaded virus at least twice and I fought it off with nothing more than over the counter meds. And, oh yes. I am 78. I never even saw a doctor for it.

An Alternate Universe

I wish I had a ten dollar bill for every time time I’ve been told how prohibition failed…very badly. Regretfully, I must agree. Partly, this was because those in charge of enforcement of the law were some of the worst violators of the law.

I guess we have learned our lesson. When it came to tobacco, they realized they needed a different approach. They didn’t even consider outlawing it.

Instead, they used a multi-pronged approach. They virtually stopped smoking in this country. All advertising, drastically decreased, it was gradually disallowed in various places and now it is banned just almost entirely.

Very few smoke today. Another decade or two and it will virtually disappear from our nation, to which I say, GOOD RIDDANCE! Who knows? It might stop climate change.

How-some-ever, it has prompted me to think, what if we had used the same method on alcoholic beverages? If, and again I say if we had used the other other method as with tobacco, would we today be living in an alternate universe?

Perhaps, today many people would have their loved ones they lost in a car accident caused by someone under the influence. Maybe there would be thousands less divorces and no one could figure the children would who would have been saved from broken homes. I can’t even imagine a guess at all the health problems that wouldn’t have been suffered. Alcoholic beverages cause more severe health problems than tobacco. If you doubt what I’m saying, ask Mickey Mantle. Oops. Can’t do that. He died from liver disease brought by alcoholic beverages.

Many times I have been told that alcoholism is the number one drug problem in this country. And yet alcoholic beverages are some of the biggest advertisers in the US. When you include the subtle ads hidden in plain sight In movies and TV shows. And, of course, they always put good light on it. And, of course, they make it appear as if it is far more common than in the real world.

For me, I would much prefer that alternate universe. The problem is I must live in the one I’m in. So does everyone else.

Those Searching for Treasure….

Every now and then, you hear in the news of someone finding sunken treasures or hunting for a buried chest. Some have even gone so far as to open big safes owned by previous gangsters or union bosses. I think they are looking in the wrong place. When and if they find the gold, there isn’t much and it takes a lot of work get it.

Where I realize I should have been looking are those who developed the vaccine for the China virus. To be sure, they spent a lot of money for development but not nearly what they stood to gain.

I have been wanting to write this post for a long time, but I simply don’t have the real info I want. It would appear no one is talking about it. No one is bragging. It would appear they have closed the big door on this one, and for obvious reasons. There is a lot of money involved.

I would really like to know how much money is involved. What, maybe a few billion from the government and even more from the insurance companies. The drug companies weren’t happy with what they got vaccinating the old, those that would have needed it, if it worked. They wanted even the youth to get the vaccine. Do you realize the monies that the developers could get from all those vials, work or not.

Fact is, no treasure chest, no ship wreck could provide the fortunes. Moreover, there was no need doing any risky deep sea diving or digging. And, by the way, diving for treasure doesn’t always yield so much as one gold coin. For sure, selling vaccine is the way to go. It has a for sure return.

Does anyone have any idea how many pockets have been lined by the hopes of stopping the virus with a magic elixir. However, if you stop to think about it, that wasn’t really the big winning hand. If they really stopped the virus, they’d have no more reason to make it. They, so to speak would have killed the golden goose. The billions coming in, would stop coming in.

Would these big Pharma outfits do things like that. Would they sink so low, really. I would say, in a heartbeat. Let’s face it, big pharma were not the only ones winning. I can’t prove it. I would never make the charge without at least a thread of evidence. However, do you notice that big government was more than willing to distribute the vaccine, even after it proved to be useless, especially for the youth. They were determined that those in the military who were in good health should also take it.

The final straw is this. Any time that someone discovered something that actually worked, they, the government, did all they could to squelch the possibilities, even though some likely died from it.

The fact of the matter is, Old Joe and his crew are going to have a lot to answer for when they face God in Heaven. However, the real problem is… the damage has been done. It won’t be reversed. He and his cohorts have their treasure, and they will most surely pay.

Moreover, the new media, the health department officials, the physicians, and certainly, big pharma will all have their punishment as well.

Then, what good will their treasure be to them. What good will the world be to them when they lose their souls.

Pilgrims Drank Beer

I did have all this planned out on what I was going to say and how I was going to say it. However, when I did my little bit of research, I realized that facts got in the way. (frustrating things, those facts) It would have been little more than guessing.

As I looked, one article would say this. One would say that. There were even doubts it would seem, within the individual writings. It seemed simple when I started. They drank beer to avoid getting sick. It was what I heard from several sources. Now, I don’t know what is true about it. I read one article, which says one thing. Then I read another that says something else.

Let’s try to at least start with what is commonly accepted by one and all. Beer was put on the Mayflower before they sailed. I think we can assume from that that they drank beer before they left. Whatever they did after they arrived was likely close to what they did before they left.

It is said that the reason they landed at early, at Plymouth Rock, because the ran out of beer. I have no idea. Some say one thing. Some say another. You are welcome to do your own research.

It is generally accepted the children drank the beer too. Also, no one drank to access.

Finally, it is true that in the day, people did get sick from the water. It contained all kinds of microbes they knew nothing of. It would stand to reason that if they drank water, they might get sick. When they drank the beer, they remained healthy. It would stand to reason that they avoided that which seemed to make them sick.

As an aside, I also heard that the Roman soldiers boiled water as a religious thing, It greatly attributed to their health which made them stronger and faster soldiers. I don’t know if that is true either. It does sound logical. People who are sick can’t fight as well. However, I don’t know. I suppose it might have been because they drank beer as the pilgrims, instead of water.

Fact is, when making the brew, the water must be heated. That would kill the microbes. The fermentation has nothing to do with it.

At any rate, we no longer have that reason to drink beer. We have perfectly safe water, most of the time. Staying healthy is no longer a valid reason.

Those that know me; those that have read most of my posts, know that I don’t like alcoholic beverages. When people find that out, I get these sayings, “The pilgrims drank beer,” as if that makes it okay. They they find out I am Christian and they say, “Jesus drank wine.”

Let’s get this straight. You want to drink, then drink. Don’t try to justify it. Regardless of anything else, the alcohol is still the one most society damaging drug, no matter the reasons.

This one fact I know. I have seen it all my life. I have even experienced it myself. If you want to do something badly enough, you can think of a reason. So, let’s get it straight. You drink alcohol because you want to. You say you can stop any time you want to. However, of course, you don’t want to. You can always find reasons. But the one truth you don’t want to admit. You want to drink. There is no force on earth that will change that.

As for Jesus drinking wine, I am not about to try to defend that. Some say the wine was weaker back then. I don’t know.

My reason for being against alcohol started a long time before I was saved and has little to do with my belief in Jesus. It was from a personal experience in my family. My belief has only been fortified over the years. Moreover, it is backed up by the numbers today. One third of fatal accidents are caused by drunk drivers. Think about that the next time before you drink before driving.

Let me throw this at you. If you come home and find your babysitter drunk, you would fire her and refuse to pay her. Yet, you get even more drunk than she while watching your kids, and never think a thing about it.

As I said, you want to drink, you will drink. If you want to get drunk, you will get drunk, no matter who else it endangers. I know. I’ve seen it. You think it over a little. You’ve seen it too.

The fact is, excuses are easy to come up with. We are all well practiced at it, myself included. It just is, I had different things I wanted to excuse.

One excuse I did find most remarkable was Mickey Mantle’s. He admitted it. Those in his family died early in life. So why not drink? Well, he did die early, because of the alcohol, not because of the genes he inherited. He came on TV and admitted he made the mistake. And so it was that his liver failed him. That’s a real shame. Mantle really seemed to be a great guy, the type most would like to know.

Well, at least he didn’t use the old excuse that pilgrims drank beer. He made the mistake. He knew it and he owned it. I guess I need to recognize him for that.

A Matter of Reputation

When one person has a reputation of lying and another has a reputation of telling the truth, when the two attest to two different accounts, which one are you apt to believe?

So, let’s see, the dems, in particular those in Old Joe’s administration tells nothing but lies for 4 years, it becomes sorta common knowledge that anything that the dems say will be a lie, especially when others who are eye witnesses says something to the contrary.

Ergo, when the folks in the Appalachian mountains say that they are taking people out of trees after the storm, and the dems say they are providing timely rescue and aid, I have a tendency to believe the Appalachians.

I have no reason to disbelieve the people who are stranded. On the other hand, why in the world should I believe the dems. Moreover, those who are stranded are in a republican part of the state. Draw your own conclusion from that.

I don’t know. However, we have one group of people who say one thing and we have one thing who say something else. You can believe who you want. As for me, I am not going to believe the group who told us that the China virus was not very contagious. Then they said it came out of a wet market, not the lab. Then they got upset with any of us who called it the China virus, saying it was racists. Then we find out, the virus was developed in the lab and purposely spread throughout the world. It took a long time to get them to swallow that lie) Then we are told that the vaccine works. Then we are told it kind of works. Then we are told it kind of works sometimes. Then we are told that masks don’t work and then that they do. So, they actually require them. Then we find out, they were right in the first place. They serve no purpose whatsoever. Then they start requiring children to take the vaccine, though there is no evidence it has any affect on them, the virus or the vaccine. Then children start are having complications from it the vaccine. The dems give us a list of drugs that don’t work and we are told that we are the liars for saying the drugs do work. And on it goes. Just one string of lies after the other.

We are told that Trump colluded with the Russians and they have proof. So they impeach him, though they never ever produce any hard evidence. In the end, it is proved it was a big hoax from the… you got it… the dems.

So, after they have told so many lies, pardon me if I don’t believe one word from the dems without solid evidence. Even then, I’d still have some doubts.

Let’s Do a Count

During the debate, Walz said that guns were the number one cause of deaths of kids. I’m not so sure about that. Does that include those who die from drugs? Does that include those who die from abortion? As long as it is not required to report all abortions, we’ll never know, will we? We will be stuck with estimates.

The hitch is that we won’t know when we don’t count those killed in drug caused car accidents or children killed by drug abused children. Then too, how many children are killed drug caused gunfire?

It is as I have said before, when people give up drugs, half the crime in this country will disappear. However, stopping the drug abuse is not something the dems want to do anything about. At best, they say we need to educate our kids. As I have said, we have been doing that for at least 6 decades without success. IT DOESN’T WORK!

No one will listen to me. No one will listen to God. When kids are taught that people, including kids are just animals, why should they treat a kid, or an unborn baby any different than a monkey? Actually, I get the impressing that many people put a higher value on monkeys.

Walz says guns kill kids. The truth is, when we turned our backs on God, that kills kids, and millions of adults too.

Covid Shots? Really?

Not going to happen with my wife or me.

The thing I have noted is that they really seem to be pushing them, for everyone. This even though it is widely known that the younger and healthier folks would not benefit from them. That is, assuming the shots work in the first place.

It seems at least two or three times an hour, they advertise them, especially for Walgreens. I didn’t think a whole lot about it for a while, but it would seem they are not going to let up. “Got to get your covid shot along with your flu shot you know!”

It seems all the worse for Walgreens. Their brand is on the on the table. If it turns out that the shots are as bad as I believe they are, people are very apt to stop trusting Walgreens. They encourage us to get our flu shots and our pneumonia shots. Then in the same breath, they say, and you better get you covid shot at the same time. The implications are that the vaccine works and is safe.

What is behind this? Are they after the money they get from the shot? This may be, but I don’t think enough that they are willing to put their reputation on the line. They are protected from law suits but not so much from people deciding to shuffle their feet elsewhere and do their business elsewhere. If things are exposed, they might be looking at closing a few stores. It is the way of capitalism. If you turn out bad products or service, people go somewhere else.

With this in mind, I turned my concentration toward the CDC. I mean they are batting a thousand, not only with the China virus but also with AIDS. Thousands, maybe millions have died because they said that AIDS could not be transferred through blood products. That is right. Many of you likely don’t remember that one but I do. (Google Arthur Ashe)

Now, the CDCs reputation is at stake assuming they had one. Do they really come out with an official stand, “Do not take the vaccine. It’s no good.”

Yeah, that is asking for the proverbial, figurative black eye. The next time they come out on a stand for an epidemic, how many will believe them? Maybe the feds will turn the research over to a nice little Christian college.

However, that is just a small part of it. Consider those who produced the drugs. They spent a lot of money developing them. Then, do they openly admit, they failed? This of course while they have millions of doses hanging around in warehouses that must be kept really cold, colder than ice. Then there is the fortune that they put out on gearing up. They created millions of doses. That required a big investment. I suspect they want to get that investment back, even if a few kids have heart problems after.

Then too, their reputation is at stake too. They said, the test indicated the vaccine worked. Obviously, their test was less conclusive than they are willing to admit… or they are outright lying.

I don’t know which. I don’t care which. However, at this time, the government needs to remove the protection against lawsuits. They have had all the time they needed to come up with valid tests. If the vaccine can be proved to be ineffective and they continue to distribute it, they should be open to law suits.
