It’s Not Easy

If there is one thing I learned about people is that they love to complain, especially when they have nothing to complain about. I guess I first started becoming aware to it when I read about the Hebrews complaining about the manna.

As I read, I thought, such foolishness. All the food you want. All you need do is pick it up and eat it. You don’t even have to cook it. Then of course the Hebrews complained. They were getting bored with it. They wanted more of a variety in their diet. Besides, they wanted meat, don’t you see.

My thought was that I would have never been so foolish. However, time has given me wisdom. Looking back on my life, I realize I am a first class complainer too. I really do complain. I am never as grateful as I ought to be. God has given me much that I know of and very much I am not aware of.

I guess the marines taught me a lot about being thankless. No. I’m not speaking of the organization. I’m talking about the jar heads themselves. It seems there wasn’t a day that went by that I heard complaining in the ranks. I have even heard that it means morale is good. If no one is muttering, it means that the morale is low. I cannot confirm or deny that. None the less, if it is true that I was always in outfits with good morale and lots of complaining.

I am sure you are wondering just why I bring this up. As I was flipping through the channels, some woman (I am sure an expert on something, I know not what) was complaining it is not easy to buy a house.

I had to stay on the channel for a while. I couldn’t believe my ears.

I am always open to comments. However, especially in this case. Does anyone know any reason why homes should be easy to buy. Maybe I have this all wrong. Perhaps I am supposed to just sit somewhere and someone will come along and give me a nice 3 bedroom home. Is that the way it’s suppose to work?

I mean, I always thought it was something we were suppose to work for. No one handed my house to me. I guess I did it wrong. Well, let’s face it, maybe the illegal aliens have it right. Maybe I should go down into Mexico and swim across the Rio Grande and turn myself over to a border agent. Maybe that would be the right and correct way to do it. I paid nearly $30,000 for Obama care. The illegal aliens step across the border and they don’t pay a cent for hospitalization or insurance. They get five star room and board and free free transportation.

I guess I did it all wrong. I paid for food and shelter for all four of us and I paid for college for two. By the time it was done, I had a whopper of a set of credit card bills to pay.

But then, in truth, I did have it easy. I didn’t have to clear a forested area and build a log cabin. I just went into debt. We didn’t have to build our own house made from mud and straw. All I did was put my signature on a sheet of paper.

Then, of course, there are those who do acquire real estate easily. They show those commercials on TV all day and night. The crooks get a quick deed and take your house right out from under you. Apparently, the only way to stop it is to catch them in the act. I guess it can happen to anyone. Someone just almost got away with stealing the Graceland mansion. Just where are the law makers to stop that sort of thing? Really!

Some woman almost got away with it. She just almost got a really big and famous house the easy way.

Please send me the comments, hundreds, thousands of them to tell me where I went wrong.

Well look at me. I am complaining aren’t I? Complaining about complaining.

Can’t Say for Sure

Those of you who have followed me even a little know I have given up TV other than for news. I still have it on for my wife. Still, I am going through advertising anger. Some of these so called news programs nowadays are 60% advertising… advertising their own news programs. Worse, they are getting monotonous showing the same lame ads repeatedly. It’s their station. They can run their stations the way they want to. I just see no future in it, for either of us.

I have stumbled across some videos lately on the internet that have really surprised me. Such as, I have found full productions of “The Pirates of Penzance.” I have since watched two of them. I would guess there are many other such programs for us who like such things. It will just take a little searching. I enjoyed it far more than the programing the networks are trying to force on us these days.

I have also found other, shorter videos. There is one where a woman man used PVC pipes and plastic wrap to make a pretty good boat. Then she got an oar and rowed away. I saw a couple of men dig out a small house out of the ground in a couple of days. I saw a man build a small RC powered by air compressed in two 2 liter bottles.

Maybe most would not be entertained by such things, but I do find it fascinating to see what people can do with little more than a little imagination.

I have also found alternate sources for news. I know that it is not reliable. How-some-ever, neither is the news that comes from the newspapers, TV or radio. Moreover, most of what they put on the TV these days, isn’t news. Well, maybe it is for movie buffs. Maybe it is for those who don’t believe the sun will rise if they don’t find out what sports team won or lost. They must find out who hit home runs or scored TDs

I do have little more than a passing interest in such things. However, I do have a firm belief that none of it is truly as important as the real news. You know, who does what. Who says what. What laws might be passed and why. When I see the news on TV, it makes me realize just why so few people actually know what is happening in this world today. There was a time when people hungered for news. Maybe not so much anymore.

As near as I can tell, most of those programs that call themselves news, is, maybe 5 minutes news in a half hour program. As near as I can tell, the biggest favor I can do for them is to stop watching them. Maybe, when they discover folks aren’t watching, they just might change their ways. However, I have learned to hold out little hope. Their purpose is to make money for their corporation, not bring me the news.

Some time during the night, I will see or hear something that prompt me to write. I live under this really strange concept that if I keep plugging away, I can change a few minds. Then, in turn they too will will spread the word.

Occasionally, I will get an idea that I have a new way to present the plan of salvation. Perhaps it will be a way that will make it clearer. On the other hand, I just might get the interest of a man or woman. Then, by the power of God, one or two more people will go to heaven, instead of hell. I cannot pretend to be a big evangelist, but I do as I can and when I can. No decision is more permanent or more important. I mean, as the Word says, It is appointed for man once to die. Then comes the judgement.

Besides all that, I just like to write. That is odd, you know. I really don’t enjoy reading that much.

When I first got out of the Marines, things were really tuff for us for a while. We had no TV. I think I did more reading in that 6 months than I ever did or ever will. I did not sit and read. We had no furniture, none.

Crazy Over Unions

The problem with unions is that the leaders are not thinking of the union members. They are thinking of the union members. Trump brought the union members at least twice as many jobs as the unions did. He brought back steel, aluminum and autos. He would not have been able to if the unions didn’t first drive those jobs out of the country. Remember the rust belts. Remember the ghost town called Detroit. Remember the disappearing coal mines. Remember the oil pipe line Obama refused to have built.

Or is it all so quickly forgotten. Or is it just preferred to be ignored.

The Problem With Idealism

It would seem that everyone and his cousin is demanding peace. I say it is Idealistic. They say it takes two to tangle. However, it only takes one to wage war. Moreover, if one side puts their weapons aside, it won’t take long for the other side to win.

And so it is, Hamas is crying for a cease fire. It is because they are losing badly. What the Palestinians don’t say is that, the instant they put their weapons down, they will start making ready for the next surprise attack, in which they will kill, maim and rape as soon as the are again ready.

The idealistic people think they have the option of stopping the war. What they are really doing is encouraging the Palestinians of Gaza. If they had kept their mouths shut and stood aside, the war would be over and we’d have gotten many of the hostages back. However, they send in food, medicine and hope to the HAMAS. That is not the way to win a war. When you try to fight that way, it cost more lives for both sides. The way to bring it to an end is to have a quick and decisive win. No one wins a war like this. They just go on and on and people keep dying. However, it is the type of war the power hungry win. They would like to go in there and wrestle power from the current prime minister, no matter who he or she might be. It is their method. It is how they work. It is how they succeed.

Lawyers Just Love to Ruin Things

Something on the news triggered an old memory. I think I was in the forth grade. That officially makes it old. One day they notified us that there would be teachers after school. They would check out sports equipment and games, checkers, chess, etc.

It was really neat. Many times we played softball. We spent a lot of time playing chess. The big thing, we never said that there was nothing to do. It was great. It was great for the kids, for the community and it was good for the teachers. They got paid for the overtime and I’d guess they could use it. Oh, by the way, it helped the parents who worked too. They had supervision for the kids until five.

Then, one day it stopped, as fast as it started. It seems someone got hurt and the parents sued the school. I didn’t know everything about it. Being a forth grader, I wouldn’t have understood it if I did. However, I do know that they fenced in the school and we were not allowed on the playground after hours.

Looking back over it, I can only speculate. Maybe the kid did get hurt. Maybe he just sprang his ankle. Even if he did break a bone, most kids do break a bone or two by the time they reach high school. I did. Most of my friends got hurt and had to have medical attention. Better that it be somewhere where there is adult supervision.

Well, regardless, that law suit shut down the whole thing. My guess is that whoever sued, sued for a million and settled for a hundred thousand. Better than going to court. Even when you win these days you lose. Lots of legal costs. Expensive lawyers. Frequently, the insurance company says, take the settlement or they won’t pay. So, even when you’re in the right, you end up paying through the nose.

At any rate, the lawyer won. He ruined things, made his couple of few grand, and us kids, we had no recourse but to complain that there was nothing to do.

Do you suppose the lawyers that make laws, would make a few that would protect the schools with after hour programs. Nope. That’s not going to happen! Those lawyers make the laws for the lawyers, not for us, the folks. If they came up with laws like that, it would eat into their legal fees.

5.3 Miles/KwHour

My Nissan EV loves the nice weather. I dove back home after eating dinner today and my car reported 5.3 miles/KwHour. It is good when it reports over 3. It’s cool when It’s not so hot. That is to say, I don’t have to charge my car as frequently.

Well, I also maintained a speed of less than 40. I was on side streets. Still, it does make me think about ways of decreasing the cost of keeping my cabin cool with the air conditioner. Then, maybe I would start seeing 5s instead of 3s when I finish a trip.

Maybe I could use those little air conditioners they advertise on TV, or maybe three or four of them.

It Only Took 4 Years!

Well, I might be off a year or so. Nonetheless, for countless weeks, we heard defund the police. Slowly, those voices have been fading, but not countered. Tonight, I heard on Fox TV News that there was an decrease in crime on Beal Street this weekend. Oddly, many of those that they interviewed said it was due to the increase in police.

That is what I call hard headed. That is what I call stupidity. However, finally, those folks in Memphis just might have started figuring things out. You increase policing, you put the bad guys in prison and you stop letting the criminals out without bail, you just might see a decrease in crime.

Could have told them that a long time ago.

Well, actually, I did. However, no one was listing to me.

Who You Lift Up

Kamala says that a sign of a good leader is who you lift up. I can’t say I agree with her but let’s go by her saying for a while. She lifts up the Palestinians who want to throw the Israelites into the Mediterranean. She likes to lift the Iranians who would like to destroy us. She likes to lift those who like to tear babies into pieces. She likes to lift those who want to control what you do and what you say. She likes to lift those who want to open the border.

On the other hand, look at those who President Trump lifts up. As I think it over, it sounds more like an ad for Trump than one for her. I mean, Trump really did help the minorities far more than any dem in decades. He did establish worldwide peace until Old Joe stepped in with his mighty pen and ruined it all. He did cut taxes and lower gas prices which helped the little guy more than the rich. I could go on, but I’d guess you got the picture.

The point is that Kamala is wrong. The good leader does that which is right, even in the face of adversity, which is what Trump did. It is not what Old Joe did and it is not what Kamala would do. The fact is, I still haven’t heard much of what she would or would not do. All she has talked about is generalities about herself and Trump. And that was horribly inaccurate.
