All or Nothing

If I say I will do a thing for you and then you help with it, can I really say I did something for you?

Of course not. I simply, to some degree, helped you. I cannot say that I totally did that thing for you.

If God does something for you and you say you helped, you lie, unless you really helped. No one can help in your salvation, which is absolutely impossible. You can neither save yourself nor can your help in your salvation. The sooner you face that, the closer you are to true salvation. God said that He will save you if you put your faith in Him. That means you acknowledge you need salvation and that means that you put your faith in Him, totally. This does not mean some faith in him and some faith in yourself. It does not work that way.

Worse, when you try to contribute to your salvation, you are doubting Him, saying that his work is not sufficient, that he needs help from you. Also, you are trying to say that you are good enough to help. That simply is not true.

It is an all or nothing proposition. You either put your total faith in Him or you have not any faith in him at all.

I find no place in the Bible that says as much, but it does seem a good way for God to deal with our pride. Those that go to heaven will not be able to brag about how they helped in their salvation. There will be no boasting, “I helped twenty percent” while another boasts I helped thirty percent. Those that go to heaven will all have to admit that they helped zero percent. If there is any bragging to do, it will be on our Lord Jesus Christ. It was upon his shoulders that all sin was placed. It was He who died and He who arose from the dead on the third day as prophesied. It was Him who took the scourging of the whips and It was Him Who died on the cross in our place. In no way did we help Him at any point along the way. And, in a thumbnail sketch, that is how we were saved.

Does anyone really want to boast that he or she helped. Did he hang on the cross with Jesus? Did he actually bear the penalty of his own sin? Did he die and then come back from the grave to live forever? Of course not. We none of us has anywhere near the power. That is why He did it for us. That is why we must put our faith in Him and not in ourselves.

Remember: faith plus works is not faith at all.

Believable? Really?

Rarely does a situation come up where you just know the federal government is lying. One such situation was the report on the Kennedy assassination. I don’t have any idea how many believe that one, but it can’t be many. Too many holes in it. Actually, too many obvious holes in it. Too much secrecy. To many efforts to cover things up.

However, I’d like to call a new one to your attention today, the so-called suicide of the former monster we knew as Jeffrey Epstein. Oddly they are trying to say he committed suicide.

Actually, in a roundabout way, I do believe them. I don’t know about you, but I have seen more than one movie where the disgraced man is handed a gun. Then, of course, he is expected to us it…on himself.

I guess such things happened. I don’t know for sure. Likely there were a few German generals that were treated like that. The implication of course, “Avoid the disgrace. Kill yourself and permit your family to live on without the dishonor.”

You might ask, would I suggest that a monster like Epstein commit suicide? Probably not. I really don’t think the man had honor. On the other hand, he did have friends and relatives. Just how important to they were to him, I don’t know. In killing himself, he just might have proved he did care about them.

I mean, it would have been very easy for one of the guards to deliver him a message. Then of course, they would all leave him alone long enough for the threat to work.

With all the famous rich people who have so much at stake, it is easy for me to believe that the threat was made. It is far easier to believe that than the far out story some government officials thought up.

The thing is, it matters not. Just as with Kennedy, they don’t really expect us to believe it. With all that is at stake, no one will ever disprove it. Those that have the courage lack the means. Those who have the means, lack the courage. We don’t really have to swallow the story, just pretend we do.

And so it is, one of the most unbelievable stories in history will stand for the duration. All those involved with the monster, those that took the trip out to his little island can rest easy. No one will ever disclose their secrets. (May I remind a few of you? Pres. Clinton was one of those who took his plane out to the island a time or three. I guess he managed to slip through another one, though it cost the life of his fiend of a friend.)

A Loaf of Bread

I had a loaf of bread. The loaf had 16 slices. Not one slice more. Not one slice less.

It wasn’t much. But it was my bread. Alas I have it no more. For it was taken from me, not all at once; but little by little.

I was glad I had my bread. It would be good for food, for nutrition, for sustenance.

Then one day, a man approached and said, give me four slices. I said, “But it’s my bread.”

To which he replied, “You have more than enough. When you give me four, you’ll still have twelve. Besides, if you don’t give it me, I will tell everyone far and wide that you are stingy. You will not share your loaf of bread though you have more than you need.

An hour later, the man returned and said to me, “Give me four slices.”

I enquired, “What happened to the four I gave to you but a while ago”

He replied, “What difference does it make. I have none and you have twelve. Just give me four or I will surely spread it far and wide that you do not believe in sharing.”

An hour later… well by now, you see the pattern. The man took all my bread. However, you know what? I found he squandered it all. He ate not one slice. He needed it not. He just wanted it because it was mine not his.

Now, sadly I have no bread.

One day, I had freedom and a man came by and said, “Give me but one little slice of your freedom. You have more than you need. You will not miss it. Besides, you inherited it. It was given to you by your ancestors. You worked not for it. Why should you have it.

Differing Points of View

Down through the history of the Republican and the Democrat parties, there have always been differing points of view. However, they both had the good of the country in mind. I don’t like the way President Kennedy did things. I really don’t like the way he managed his personal life, but he fought the communists’ countries fiercely and he always had the good of the nation in mind.

Today things are different. Not only do the parties have differing points of view, but the dems do not have well being of the country in mind. They hate the Constitution and are using its precepts to destroy it. Indeed, it is their desire to destroy the country and meld it into a single world government.

Worse yet, they are willing to ignore any law to accomplish it. They have no problem destroying the home of the brave so that they can install their nation of puppets. And yes, they stand accusing others of lying, while all the time telling their own whoppers. If they are caught in their lies and deceptions, then it’s back to their old ways, deny, deny, deny.

They continually demand compromises from the Republicans. Does anyone remember a dem was willing to give an inch. Invariably, in the end, there is no compromise with them. In the end, they win, and we lose. For if we keep compromising, we relinquish everything including our precious freedom.

Then, there will not be any more differing points of view. They will not be permitted. They won’t be allowed, even in thought. If you say something out of line, it won’t be the government after you. It will be your neighbors. It will be those who live across the street or across town. In the end, it will even be your friends in church, until, of course, there are no more churches.

Helmets

Seems every time I turn around, they are coming up with new safety requirements. For some time, I wondered why we are not yet required to wear helmets while riding in cars. Without a doubt, they would help safety. Not only would they save lives, but they would cut down on concussions and eye injuries.

The hitch of course is that it would be necessary to keep a few helmets handy, perhaps in the trunk. You would want to make sure you had helmets for all your passengers, as if they would want to wear them.

For years, my question was, just why haven’t they started having requirements for them. Then it came to me. Wish I could say I thought of it, but I heard it on the radio. Made perfect sense. I mean there are some things that take priority even over safety.

As of yet, they have not come up with a helmet that will not mess up a woman’s hairdo. Until they do, the helmet will remain an option for cars, one rarely used.

Outback for Fiftieth

Went to Outback for our fiftieth anniversary. Met a man as we were going in that that earned a silver star in Korea. Talked very briefly with him and had the privilege to shake his hand.

The people at Outback were very wonderful and attentive. I’m not saying the potato soup was good but the wife about inhaled it. She ate about half of her chicken tenders. Considering her appetite lately, that means she really liked them.

I ordered the pork chops. Figured I’d have no difficulty downing two them, until I saw them. I gave it my best efforts but I had to admit defeat after a little more than 1 1/2.

To be sure, I do from time to time register my complaints with restaurants. In this case, I have no complaints and I feel I should mention that to one and all too.

Still, maybe one day I’ll meet that veteran of Korea and Vietnam and spend a few minutes with him, that is, if he would permit. Such men receive far too little recognition.

Real Racism

Margaret Sanger was an admitted racist. She created Planned Parenthood with the sole purpose of eliminating the African-American race. That is real racism. That is the ultimate picture of racism.

Planned Parenthood is racist. They may not openly admt to it, but most of their abortion clinics are in black communities. Sorta same-same. Based on this, I am going to take a real risk, and say that Planned Parenthood is racist.

I will also really take a giant step out there and say that those who provide political and financial support to Planned Parenthood support racism, even if they aren’t racist. I mean, they are supporting the inhalation of all black people. Maybe they are trying to claim ignorance.

Now. Stop and think. Who are those who support Planned Parenthood. I suppose right at the top…Democrat party. Virtually every democrat senator, most democrat representatives, perhaps all. Certainly Joe is one of their biggest cheerleaders.

Maybe, if you try really hard, you just might think of a few.

By the way. I don’t support Planned Parenthood. I find Sanger’s ideas appalling. It is not just wrong; it is non-Christian; and un-American.

Perhaps, you’re one of those that, now being enlightened, that will pull any and all support from Planned Parenthood, both direct and indirect. Besides the Democrat party, there are a few charities, labor unions, and other organizations that contribute to them.

Ending With a Preposition

Under the rules of English, we are never to end a sentence with a preposition. Oddly, old though I am, I have been doing it all my life. Actually, most of us do. Many don’t know it…or care.

For those unaware, we should not say, “What did you do that for?” It’s more correct to say, “Why did you do that?”

Words such as to, with, for, on and the like are prepositions and, technically require objects, or a word immediately following it associated with it. For instance, in the previous sentence, I used it with with. (Careful how you read that)

Though I was taught in high school, I rarely paid it much attention. Near as I can tell, few ever noticed. Then I started writing, with a grammar checker. Seemed, every time I turned around, the grammar checker told me, “You can’t do that. It’s not proper. “

Many times, I welcome those suggestions. Other times I want to tell the smart Alecky thing to just stuff it.

I hate to admit it, but sometimes, I just can’t say what I want to say unless I end the sentence with to, with or one of those other little words. Well, I guess I could, but it would either be long or awkward.

I know there are those who adhere to this rule, but sometimes I think we need to take a vote. Time to eliminate it. At least they should make it a little optional.

For my aside, ever since I’ve been writing, it seems I’m getting more critical of others speech, which I really don’t much care for. (Please forgive the terminating for.) Nonetheless, there is one irritation I’ve developed that one irritant I believe to be valid. It seems folks do like to overuse “ing.” Why say hoping when you mean hope. Why say guessing when you mean guess. They truly do have separate meanings and I hear news reporters do it all the time. I’m not even sure it’s ever been addressed before. Ing is already a very common word ending. We just don’t need to add to them.

I’m guessing you can let me known what you all are thinking about it. I’ll be letting you.

Ping Pong Balls

Just curious. Maybe someone could tell me. What if they filled the lower parts of the the Titanic with ping pong balls? Would it have floated any longer? If so, how much longer? Would it have saved any lives? Can someone out there tell me?

I suppose before we do start putting any such thing in boats, large and small, we should determine their cost per cubic foot, which does bring up another question.

I suppose it’s a poitless question if they would need to be replaced every now and again. Still, I think if I had a boat, I’d investigate the whole idea.

Wonder what would happen should I walk into a sporting goods store and bought out their stock. Then again, they might not let me. Some folks do use them for table tennis.

However, they do have one characteristic that makes me think about them. Punch a hole in one, thousands more remain buoyant.

A Deserved Good Word

I had reason to visit the Mississippi Department of Safety (drivers licenses and such) at Batesville this morning. I was ill prepared and it could have turned into an all day thing.

Instead, the folks there were very helpful as well as friendly. After a couple of hours I was on my way.

I just figured they deserve a good word or two. The world would be far better if it were full of folks such as these.
