A Bump in the Road

Several years ago, before I retired, I was coming home from work.  It was about two in the morning and I was on I-55 headed south.  Just before I reached the I-240 junction, cars started slowing.  Traffic was sparse but I took the hint and started slowing too.

I didn’t slow enough, though I did see the reason why the slowdown.  Apparently, someone ran into a lamp post and it fell across the interstate… all three lanes.  I hit the break and right away realized not soon enough.  Knowing that I didn’t want to hit the post with my breaks on, I let off and coasted over the thing.

I just knew I was going to be looking at major repairs but I was wrong.  The Chevy HHR took it in stride and it didn’t even need re-alignment.  I am still driving the car and I’ve likely put 30 thousand miles on it since.  I can’t say I have been really happy with the car but I do have to admit it has a real good suspension system.

It would appear that the dummycrats have hit a bump in the road too.  They saw the bump in the road from a long way off and still hit it dead on.  The obstruction of justice is still slightly unsettled but that whole colluding thing is done and settled.  That boat is not going to float.  Four full scale investigations have found nothing.  Even though the deck was stacked against President Trump in this last investigation, they still found nothing.  Certainly, if there was anything they’d not hide it.  If the dummycrats keep trying to run over that bump, the only thing they will do is lose their wheels.

By the way, there are many in the media that owe president an apology.  Somehow, I don’t think that will happen.  They will have to admit that they were wrong and that does not fit in their agenda.  It would get in their way of one world government.

BUILD THE WALL!!!!

Farmland

I was seven when I moved to the small city of Garden Grove, California.  A year or so later, they started building Disneyland in another small city called Anaheim.  From time to time, we passed by the construction and we could see it from the highway.

One day, it was all orange groves.  Then, in a few days, when the heavy equipment was done, it was all dirt.  Then things started appearing.  It started taking shape.  Where the dirt once was, small rivers appeared.  The most notable thing we could see was Sleeping Beauty’s Castle.  We could also see Captain Hook’s ship.  When the park first opened, it was called The Chicken of the Sea and they served tuna sandwiches on it.  Last time I visited the park, Carnation had taken over the ship, and, need I say, they changed the name of the ship.

The whole area around the park continued to be orange groves, but that quickly changed.  Nowadays, you would have to search for a while to see a grove anywhere around the park.  Truth be known, you likely won’t find any orange groves around Disneyland.  For that matter, I don’t think you will find many in the county, if any.

I remember going to Newport Beach on weekends.  On the way back, we bought strawberries.  There were dozens of farms on both sides of Harbor Blvd and we bought all the  strawberries we wanted for little more than a dollar.  I don’t know for sure, but I would guess they don’t grow strawberries along Harbor Blvd. anymore.  For that matter, they may not grow them in any of Orange County.

When I was stationed at MCAS El Toro, I saw them growing crops yearround around the base.  They actually grew three crops a year.  I suspect that those fields in the area helped to support millions of people.  They grew lettuce, cabbage, and all sorts of stuff.

Nowadays, there are houses and businesses where the farms once were.  I don’t know the reasons.  No one told me but I can guess.  One thing I do know.  The value of the land skyrocketed.  I must conclude that the taxes on the land went up too.  Besides, the farmers likely saw the benefit of selling out.  They were likely able to sell the land at a small fortune.

A farmer sells his land, and a few months later, a bunch of houses grow up where there were once orcherds.  You drive from Garden Grove today to Newport Beach and you’ll not see any strawberries.  Disneyland and the area around it have become one hotel and motel after the other.  About the only trees you see in the area anymore are in Disneyland… and they are made from concrete.

No.  That is not completely true.  The roads are lined with palmtrees.  Some of the homes have one or two orange trees growing in their backyard.  Some people might grow peaches or tomatoes in their private gardens.

The problem is that farmers are being driven off prime farmlands.  I am sure that it is occurring all over the country.  So now, we have more and more people and we have less and less land with which to feed them.  Even worse, the land they do have is lower and lower quality.

I suspect that the Los Angeles, Orange County and Riverside County land as they once were could likely feed the whole country.  All three counties were at one time able to harvest three huge crops a year.  Now, Riverside is the only county left… and civilization is now creeping into Riverside.

As I look at it, I think, what a shame?  What do we do when we have houses and businesses on all the farmland?

The problem is being aggravated by illegal immigrants.  In a country where we have over 350 million, over 25 million came here illegally, either them or their parents.

Many believe that they are not a problem, but there is a fact that we must face.  There is a limited amount of land in this country.  There will never be any more.  We can not manufacture it.  Every time an illegal alien enters our country, it is just one more with which our children and grandchildren must share.

Of course, it means little to the millionaires, but to the rest of us, it means we pay more to have a place to live.  That is true if you buy or rent.  It also means we pay more in taxes and it also means that the farmers will have less land on which to grow the crops we need.  That means that the cost of food increases.

At this point, it is hardly noticeable.  Eventually, it will be easy to see.  The problem is that by then, it will be too late.  Returning illegal aliens is already difficult.  Returning their sons and daughters will be impossible.

It is time to build the wall.  It is time to stop them before they get into the country.  Then we will not have to return them.  What’s more, they won’t even try to enter.  The caravans will stop.  It will be better for us.  It will be better for them.  It is better that they improve their countries instead of destroying ours.

BUILD THE WALL!!!

Imported disease

Some time ago, I brought up the possibility that people with disease have been coming over the border.  Now I found out that it is more true than I realized.  They now have approximately 2000 in quarantine who they found crossing the border.

Statistically, the say that for each one they catch, two get away.  That means that there are likely 4000 people carrying disease in this country who we don’t know.  Let me correct that.  It is far more than 4000.  Each of those who carried a disease across the boarder likely gave it to few more, maybe as many as ten.  That means we might be talking about 40,000.

You still think we don’t have an emergency on our border?  Maybe you should think again.  That outbreak of anti-bio-tic resistant epidemic of who knows what.  It might even be an unknown disease.

Pelosi is just a dummycrat.  President has it right.  We need to BUILD THAT WALL.  It won’t stop them all, but it will stop some.  Moreover, we need to modify our laws so that any illegal immigrant can be sent back where they came from.  It would instantly stop the caravans.

Of course the dummycrats are always saying we can use technology instead of a wall.  Maybe they are right.  Maybe we can use Robocop type robots.  Maybe that would work.  If course, it would take about forty years to design and test them.  In the meantime, maybe we should BUILD A WALL!

“Let the Buyer Beware!”

Those who know me know that I am very much in favor of capitalism.  However, there are some who take advantage of capitalism for dishonest endeavors.  Whenever such things happen, the government ought to take reasonable measures to prevent such things.

By the way, such things are not new.  In the Pirates of Penzance by Gilbert & Sullivan, the pirate king claims that he is relatively honest.  He raises the skull and crossbones, and everyone knows what he and his men intend.  The businessman wears a business suit and robs people blind.  Moreover, those that are most likely to steal are those who are members of the bar association.

Well, today I received a letter from a dishonest business.  You may ask, “How do you know it is a dishonest business?”

To which, I say, it is simple.  On the letterhead, I saw “Medicare.com.”  It is an effort to deceive.  It was not from the government.  The Medicare website is Medicare.gov.  There was a disclaimer at the bottom of the letter.  I am sure they want everyone to read it.  On the other hand, if one out of a hundred doesn’t read it, the deception is successful.

For the most part, I did not read the letter.  I cannot tell you what it says.  However, I will tell you who it is from.  I will let you draw your own conclusion as to their honesty.  I will let you decide if you want to do business with them.  As for me, I will not give them the time of day.

They identify themselves as eHealthinsurance agency in New York and Oklahoma.  I would hope you will practice one capitalist saying, “Let the buyer beware.”

My Biggest Fear

We can stop some people from coming across the border by stopping welfare.  We can almost put a total stop of illegal immigration by keeping illegals from gaining any form of employment… even the under the table type.

Of course, there are those who cross the border with all kinds of diseases.  The kids attend out schools and expose our children to such things as anti-bionic resistant TB and who knows what else.  Indeed, there might be a few diseases we don’t yet know about.  That in itself sounds like a good reason to build a wall.

Then there are all the drugs that are brought over the border.  It is true that some of it comes in through ports of entry, but the vast majority bypasses the scrutiny the border guards there.  It only stands to reason.  Why sneak the stuff through the border stations when they can just go a few miles to the side and drive the stuff over, virtually unhindered.

However, my greatest fear is that one person or group of people that bring a weapon of mass destruction into the country.  One nuclear weapon in L. A. would be more than disastrous.  There are over ten million in Los Angeles and Orange County area, more than in the city of New York.  There is a huge Navy Base in San Diego, just a few miles north of the border.  Do we really want to leave our guard down as we did at Perl Harbor?

Do you think 9-11 was bad?  If someone sets off a nuclear weapon in San Diego or Los Angeles, even if it is a small one, it will make the attack in New York seem like small potatoes.

Do we always need to learn the lessons by firsthand experience?  Do we always have to wait until after the attack to find out we are vulnerable?  My best guess is that if we wait, it will be too late.  I don’t think we will be able to recover.

The bad part is that we won’t be able to retaliate.  We won’t know who was behind it.  I guess we just just have to retaliate against everyone.  Then, as they say, there won’t be anything left but the cockroaches.

The truth of the matter is that Pelosi and cohorts know the dangers of leaving the border open.  The fact is that it is more than political.  It is about the power.  They want to control the country.  They want to control the world and they want to control everyone in it.

It is as old as civilization.  There have always been those who seem to control others.  There have always been those who want to be king of the world.  The Greeks and Romans used swords.  Hitler used guns.  The dummycrats use promises.  They promise us everything and then they take all our freedom.

In this case, it just might backfire on them.  If someone plants a nuclear bomb in Chicago, they just might want to run for the border and keep running Venezuela.  Then again, they might want to run to Cuba.  My guess is that they would be welcomed there with opened arms.

On the other hand, they would have to give up all the power they accumulated.  They just might have to work for a living.

A Short Question About Tunnels

Dummycrats claim walls don’t work.

If walls don’t work, why do the smugglers go through all the effort to build tunnels under them?

By the way, I have been notified that drones can work… if they are armed with Hellfire missiles.  Helicopters work real good too… if armed with machine guns and rockets.  They would certainly be very effective, but I don’t think it would be such a good idea.

BUILD THE WALL!!!

Drones vs Walls

It’s why I call them dummycrats.  They keep saying dumb things.  They say we don’t need walls.  We can use drones and they are much less expensive.

Well, here’s a news alert.  Walls greatly impede illegals from crossing the border; drones don’t.  For my stupid political opponents, the best a drone can do is spot someone as they cross over the border.  I assure you, they will not and cannot stop anyone.  Then, once they are here, they are here and we can’t send them back.  Now tell me, just what is so brilliant about drones.

The truth is, they know better.  It is just their effort to deceive, and a poor one at that.  The truth is that they don’t want the wall because it will work and it will keep all their new voters out.

BUILD THE WALL!!!

Save the World!

First disallow all private jets.  It would decrease carbon dioxide by incalculable tons.  Besides, it would likely cut down on the cost of travel on commercial airlines.  More folks would want to fly first class… decreasing the cost for those of us flying coach.

Second, require proper management of the forest.  Get rid of dead trees and undergrowth.  One forest fire likely produces more carbon dioxide than thousands of cars spew out in a year.  Besides, burning wood also produces a bunch of carbon monoxide.  Good forest management would drastically cut down on the quantity and size of forest fires.  The undeniable fact is the dead trees are nothing more than fuel for the next fire.  Thinning the trees in the forest insures that the remaining trees survive… as well as those creatures living in the forest.

The fact is that fuels such as gasoline and natural gas have drastically improved things.  Before internal combustion engines, the streets were lined with disease ridden horse manure.  Before we heated our homes with natural gas, we used wood and coal.  I think most of us would not want to return to those “good ole days.”  On the other hand, lets remember who generates most of the carbon dioxide — those who have the big houses and cars — many of which are those forcing the ecology down our throats.  Al Gore certainly uses his share of fuel.  He has a nice big house and flies around in those private jets, he and his countless friends.  (Moreover, his predictions are way off.  According to his movie, Florida should have been completely covered by the ocean years ago.)

Finally, I in no way condone the riots in France, but I can’t believe that anyone should be surprised by them.  The French government is robbing the middle and lower classes in the name of decreasing climate change.  As I said before and I will say again, those forcing the gas tax on people are those who don’t have to pay the taxes and the wealthy.  I assure you, those running France are not going to suffer one little bit from the increase in the cost of gas.  The wealthy don’t suffer the pain when the taxes go up ten or fifteen cents.  Those who drive to and from work daily, on the other hand, feel the pinch every time they have to pull up next to pump.  It means they have to give up something.  In some cases, that isn’t even an option.  It might mean they lose their job because they can’t afford the tax.

My personal opinion is that the climate changers are simply using the so called science for control.  Let’s face it. Controlling our mobility is certainly one method toward that end.  They want to move around freely while the rest of us walk, or use horses.

Idealism Verses Experience

There are those who get into government with real business or military experience.  Then there are those who bring nothing but their idealism into government and try to use the government to run the nations businesses.  Do I really need to explain which party is which?

By the way, I might mention, most of these idealists never worked a day in their life outsied of politics or volunteer projects.  They don’t really have the slightest idea what makes things work.

Who Killed Dr. M. L. King?

According to history, it was James Earl Ray.  Personally, I have my suspicions about that.  I don’t know, but I would say the chances are about 60% that the real killer walked.

I always had suspicions about the case.  Call it a hunch.  However, over the years, I have seen and heard things that have given me solid reasons.

  1. An episode of Law and order. The suspect was told that he would be given the death penalty if he didn’t sign a confession.  The man said, “In the old days they used rubber hoses.  I think I prefer that.  At least I would have come out of it alive.”
Which is worse, beating a confession from a man or threatening him with death?  Like the character in Law and Order, I would prefer the rubber hose.  Regardless, I will never confess to a crime I haven’t committed.
Basically, this is what happened to James Earl Ray.  I don’t know the exact percentage, but I would suspect that many people would admit to most anything if it means not being killed.  In my book, it negates the value of the confession.
  2. They never tested the rifle. It seems to me that if the prosecuting attorney wanted to put the right guy in prison, he would have insisted on testing the rifle.
Not only did they not immediately test the rifle, but they also rested for years the testing of it.  I can only conclude that they were afraid they would have egg all over their faces if it tested negative.
Finally, when the tested the rifle, it turned out inconclusive.  If it tested inclusive at the time, it likely would have been devastating to their case.  If it turned out negative, Ray would very likely have walked.
I have no idea what time played in the testing of the rifle, but if the test would have been inconclusive immediately after the crime, it could not have been used as evidence.
  3. I don’t know what proof they had against Ray. They never had to present it in court.  I suspect it was a weak case at best.  Moreover, Ray never got a chance to present his defense.  I don’t think I like that.  For that matter, I suspect that Ray never saw the evidence.
  4. It looked to me that they were in a hurry to convict someone. It appeared as if anyone would do.  They just wanted the case closed.

I get it.  I understand the advantage of confessions.  They save time and money.  If they tried the case, it likely would have lasted a couple of years and there is no telling how much it cost.  More than that, they would have had to develop real proof and convince twelve people he was guilty.

By the way, there was also an unsettled populous in the city of Memphis.  No one in the hierarchy of city government wanted to see that.  Also, they didn’t much like the publicity that the assignation brought to The Bluff City.

The problem with that is that a mistake just might have been made.  If so, an innocent man went to prison for life and a killer walked.
