A Little Outside of My Expertise

I might be wrong and I likely am. It just seems to me that the auto engineers have bypassed the opportunity to rid electric cars of one of the weaknesses of cars, the differential. Ever since cars have made their entry on the scene they have had a weakness. Getting power from both power wheels and still allow them to turn at different speeds. It is why it is called a differential.

Many things have been done to resolve this problem with some success. Even so, at best it is at substantial cost and reliability. Positraction helps in situations where one of the power wheels may slip. Some of these possibilities include sand, ice or even loss of contact with the road.

As far as I know, all or most electric cars have one electric motor for each set of drive wheels. The 4 wheel drive cars use two motors, one for each set of wheels. At least this has some advantage. Power is delivered to the front and rear wheels separately which does permit maximum torque for front wheel and rear wheels independently. However, in this situation, there are two differentials, on each on the back and front wheels.

So, when they came up with electric cars, why one motor? Why not one motor for each wheel?

Well, as I said, it’s outside my knowledge. Still, it does make me wonder just how successful a car would be with two motors. I guess, a single motor failure might be a problem, but how often is that going to happen. Moreover, the car could be designed so that if one motor quit, the other one would too.

Then the question comes to mind, is the cost of two motors more than the cost of a differential. Also, the differential does add weight and reliability considerations.

The one thing I certainly have no understanding of, how would the car drive with two motors, with perhaps different torque to the wheels. Perhaps, tests would have to be made on the motors to get two matched motors. That in itself would add costs.

I don’t know. My wife is always telling me I think too much. Maybe I do.

Biden’s Campaign Scared?

I don’t know. However Trump has one rally in the Bronx and suddenly ads start showing up on TV and radio. That’s only the half of it. They have also activated the media.

Maybe it’s just that they don’t want to take any chances. They are just that afraid of losing to the Orange man, again.

Think Maybe the Blue States Would Fuss, Just a Little?

Let’s say Trump wins. That in itself would create an uproar. However, let’s take it on stage farther and deport only the illegal aliens from red states. After all, the blue states don’t want to deport anyone, including murderers and rapists.

The problem for the blue states… all the illegal aliens would rush to the blue states. That would be California, NY, NJ, ETC. The citizens in the blue states would have a run on U-Hauls. Then I would guess we would find out just what the PEOPLE in the blue states think about opening borders and illegal aliens.

Heights, Public Speaking

I have no idea what scares me the most. However, I have somewhat overcome speaking in public as I spent 7 years teaching electronics for the military. Still, you get me outside electronics and my knees shake.

By the way, anyone who has a fear of heights should be well aware that they will have to manage those fears in the Marines as I did, more than once. I’m not real proud of it. If I hadn’t jumped, they would have pushed me and that’s worse.

Define Religion

Not a fan of even the word religion. I am a Christian. That is to say, I have a relationship with Jesus Christ. Religion is for people who like to follow rituals. Many times, God has scolded the Israelite people for mindlessly following rituals, for being religious while leaving God out of it.

When Jesus set up His church, He left but two rituals, baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Even so, people have made this into a ritual and they leave Jesus out of it. Many of those who go through the ritual have no relation with God. They do not love Jesus nor do they desire to do his his will.

They call themselves religious but they love not his children, but rather kill them before they are born. Some would go so far as to kill them after they are born. They look at God’s children as an inconvenience to be gotten rid of as a wart or something cancerous. However, many show up on Sunday and chant the words without even considering them.

Old Joe calls himself a Catholic, but he has intentionally said and done things that result in the deaths of thousands. Truth be told, I don’t think the man has any relationship with Jesus. He might call himself Catholic but I can’t see any proof of him being a Christian.

Such can be said of many. They have their faith in their church, their religion and or their preacher. When they see Jesus face-to-face, they will realize they should have had their faith in Jesus. Only, it will be too late. Some with have decades to accept Jesus as their Savior. They will have no excuse. There is simply no religion that will save them and it will be too late for any extensions or revisions of their remarks.

Got to Just Love That Microsoft

As mentioned, I just bought a new computer. With it came a trial license for the latest version of office. The last time I tried it, I hated it. It was slow and lacked features that version 7 had.

So… Just for grins I figured I’d try it now that it has been many years to straiten it all out. Only problem is, that’s not going to happen. Being as I tried it out in 2018, they terminated the trial due to timeout.

No Problem. I have version 7 and it works good. I also have Open Office which is pretty decent. I would actually prefer to use my copy of Word Perfect but when they forced me to upgrade from Windows XP, I lost the ability to use that. I cannot find a copy of Word Perfect that will run on later versions of Windows. Sort of stinks of a monopoly, doesn’t it?

I am realistic. No one to talk to. If there were, they’d listen. If they listened, they’d not change anything for me or those who are as me. I laughed when I saw the timeout message. I might complain, but for what purpose.

No need trying out the current version of Office. By the way, I’m also upset with what they did with me with Outlook. However, I guess I will give them another chance if they want to give me one.

Puzzle Solution

The words ‘and’ and ‘or’ are almost always conjunctions. However, in the sentence “It was and I said not or,” they are both nouns. The one speaking is saying he used the word, ‘and,’ rather than the word ‘or.’

For instance, if I tell a person to move a table and a chair and later realize that one the chair has been moved, I might say I told you to move the table and chair, not the table or chair.

Still, you’re right. It is a dumb sentence that will only like be used as a puzzle.

It Was And I Said, Not Or.

The above sentence is a little difficult, but it is completely, grammatically correct. You could of course ignore it. On the other hand, you could have some fun with it.

I might mention that a few have figured it out immediately. I would like to say I am among them, but I’m not. My father had to explain it to me 3 times.
