Proof Positive

Old Joe kept saying he needed an act of Congress to close the border. In less than an hour after President Trump took his oath, the gates were closed. Never took one vote from Congress.

It’s proof positive Old Joe didn’t know how or he was fibbing again. If I were a betting man, I’d put my money on fibbing, though I must admit, it’s tough. The man just might not have known. They might not have told him.

The Power of the Interview

There is no doubt in my mind that the media will be just as biased as ever. However, there will be 2 differences. First, no more will they totally control what is tweeted or said on stuff like Facebook. That means Republicans will be able post their ideas just as much as the Dems. Now we’ll see how competitive the Dems ideas really are.

Secondly, whenever they want to interview the president, VP, Speaker or Majority Leader of the Senate as well as any committee chairman, they will have to interview a Republican with republican ideas.

They will still be able to conversate with Dem members of Congress but none of the real leaders. That just might irritate those host on shows such as Meet the Press. It makes me wonder, will they stop interviewing people holding federal office. They might talk to governors as the ones in CA or NY.

There is one little problem with that, of course. The folks in NY and CA just might vote for a Republican governor. Then who do they interview?

Don’t laugh. It could happen. Especially if CA keeps having four fires at a time and people keep getting murdered on subways.

Thank the Lord for Discipline

It is a difficult thing for a child to be thankful when his hand is being slapped but he should be. That slap on the hand is far less harmful and painful than that jolt of electricity from that wall socket.

Okay. I agree. The socket should be covered. Still, a little slap on the wrist is in order when a child starts trying to put his fingers in the socket, covered or not.

To be sure, I believe there is a big difference between discipline and punishment. The object behind punishment is justice; whereas, the object behind discipline is, or at least should be love. We as parents, from time to time, cause a little harmless pain to avoid the larger pain, or perhaps harm. As parents, we need to remember that, regardless of any anger.

When God disciplines us, it is in love and we should remember that. We should always learn from it as well as be reassured. After all, in general, people normally don’t discipline the strange child in love. When God disciplines us, it is a strong indicator that He is our Father and we are His child. It tells us we are saved and we are forever his. No one can ever take us from Him, ever.

Believe me, I have felt the hand of His discipline all too often. I didn’t like it. I am sure, I have asked why me? But He was always right and I was always wrong. And I learned and I continue to learn today, to my dismay.

How-some-ever, let me say this now before the whole world, I am so very grateful to my God that he disciplines me. It is because He loves me and that is very reassuring.

God disciplines nations too. Then, you know that. Repeatedly, he disciplined Judah when they strayed. Then, they repented and God rewarded them. The last time, God disciplined them several times and Judah turned their back on God. They called the chastising a coincidence and continued in their disobedience.

So, God increased the levels. He told them in advance and raised up the nation of Babylon. As predicted, they went into captivity and to this day, they have not returned to their former greatness.

As with Israel, I believe that the US has found favour with God. How else could we get where we are. However, if we keep turning our back to God, I have to believe that the Same thing will happen to us as Judah. If we keep writing off the warnings as coincidence, or weather change! He can raise up a nation and destroy us, as he destroyed Judah. What does makes me wonder, why has He already done it. By the way, He need not raise up another nation. He can use natural disasters, or a few terrorists with a big bomb.

As I write this, I remain in hope while I can’t help but fear. I know what it is like to feel His discipline. I do have something of an idea of what can happen, faster than anyone can imagine.

If you doubt any of this read the books of kings and chronicles in the Bible. The books, true, are religious. However, they are also very accurate history books.

Regardless; with all the blessings we have received as a nation from God, why in the world would anyone want to turn our backs on Him now? Better to receive His blessings than His discipline; or worse, His judgement.

Possible Flu Weapon

I never was the brightest kid in high school. Of course, my grades would have been much better if I hadn’t insisted on courses like algebra and chemistry. I made good grades in English and history without half an effort. I just couldn’t see making a living by conjugating verbs or knowing when Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

Looking back on it, I do wish I did learn more about history and English. I can now see how it would have helped. Still, I do get by and I did learn a lot about chemistry and quadratic equations. However, I have found I use English far more than imaginary numbers.

How-some-ever, I still leaned my share of science. Though they never said so at the time, I have found that history and science are tightly intertwined. There is a lot of electronics in history and a whole bunch of history involved in chemistry.

Go figure. A person could actually learn history and science kind of simultaneously. I mean, it’s a little difficult to learn about the old River boats without also learning a little about steam, even if by accident.

Now, why would I write all this? Well, don’t you find it very fascinating. I do

Nonetheless, I was combining my history education with my scientific concepts, limited as they may be. I have heard that the main reason flu spreads so much more during the winter is because we spend so much more time in close proximity to each other.

That is likely true. Not only does it sound logical, but that is also what the smart people say. Yet, I was thinking. My wife always gets upset with me for that. She ask me, “Don’t you ever give your brain a rest?!” Yeah. It is something of a sore spot betwixt us. Must not be that serious, though. We have been married for over 50 years and she has been putting up with all my thinking, even before we were married.

Well, that has nothing to do with the flu. The point is, has anyone ever done any serious research on it. Maybe, perhaps, it might remotely possibly be, this theory might be wrong. Have we been making an assumption that isn’t scientific.

If, of course, someone has done the research and has statistics to backup the theory, if this is the case, then I just wasted a lot of words and I have exposed a bunch of my ignorance. Well, maybe I did that, anyway.

So, if it’s not the closeness that enhances the spread, what could it be? What other theory is even possible, let alone, probable?

This is where my thinking comes in. This is the part that angers my wife. What if it is vitamin D? In the winter we don’t get as much sun so we don’t get as much vitamin D. Actually, that part is a given. None of us get nearly as much sun in the winter.

I would have never, ever thought of it but for the China virus. I have no idea of the validity, but I heard from many different people that vitamin D helps to protect us from the virus. So, I made the connection. If vitamin D protects us from the one thing, why not the other?

Am I right? Am I wrong? I am the first to say, I have no real evidence.

Then again, the national health experts had no proof the vaccine worked on children and yet they recommended it. There was no evidence at all that it wound help our young military men and yet they were forced to take the vaccine or they were forced out of the service.

I submit my conjecture is as strong as there’s with one difference. The vitamin D is known to be harmless. At this point, we know the vaccine has danger associated with it.

Just one more thing before you completely dismiss my theory. Kids are less affected by the China virus. Kids drink more milk… Fortified with vitamin D. Older folks drink less milk, more coffee. The older people spend more time indoors. Us older people are more susceptible. I am an exception. I drink a lot of milk. I am sure I had that dreaded virus at least twice and I fought it off with nothing more than over the counter meds. And, oh yes. I am 78. I never even saw a doctor for it.

Success?

I noticed Old Joe was busy touting his success with the agreement to free the hostages. It sort of reminds me of the para maniac who touts rescuing four people from the building he set afire.

Need I explain, really? Well, just for those dems who are a little dim. Old Joe’s foreign policy led to the hostage situation in the first place. He provided the financial backing for the Palestinians indirectly through Iran. He also provided the virtual invitation by removing American support from Israel.

So now he brags of his success while ignoring he was the originator of the problem in the first place.

A Rare Agreement

This morning, I was watching Meet the Press and oddly I found myself in agreement with much of the round table discussion part. They spoke of this and they spoke of that. However it seemed to all be moving in one general direction: that Old Joe waited too long to withdraw from the campaign.

Now, I must agree with that with all my heart. In fact, it would have been far better had never run in the first place. He will, without doubt, go down in history as our worst president. I suspect even most dems will agree once looking at it in the rear view mirror of life.

As a secondary note, former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was on the round table too,but was not saying much. Soon, I determined the reason. It seemed her prearranged dialogue was to address the fact that Trump and the Republicans were in total control and would answer for all that goes wrong.

I would suggest, you call up the dialogue and watch it if possible. I think you’ll have to agree. As I have said before, though the woman seems mislead, I do like her. It seems a raw deal she received to be handed the bogus lines required to make it look natural- as if it were her all her idea.

Nonetheless, they do overlook the obvious. If only it were so that they were united. Trump will still have the rinos and the never Trumpers who claim to be Republican to deal with. This would be a good time to remind one and all that many of those in favor of open borders are Republicans, what Rush Limbaugh called the country club crowd. Let’s face it many employers love inexpensive employees. And illegal aliens are inexpensive.

That is to say, it is not going to be the easy sailing that Jen Psaki would have us think. If you recall, two of those on the Jan 6 committee called themselves Republican. One even called herself a conservative. Indeed, last time Trump occupied the Oval Office, those closest to him caused him the most grief, especially the Attorney General.

Trying to Help Whitehaven Businesses

For those unaware, they are referring to south Memphis, kind of the area where Graceland is and southward, near the state line. For those unaware, this was a very busy part of town. There were two very busy thriving indoor malls and many busy businesses as well there.

Not so much these days. Buildings stand vacant and parking lots remain empty. I used to frequent the area a lot. Now, hardly anyone does. I’m somewhat afraid to go there, especially after dark. Apparently, I’m not the only one.

The restaurants where people went have been gradually vanishing. The people that used to go to them are going south of the state line instead. I know. I am seeing more and more Shelby County car tags in Southaven restaurant parking lots.

Now, why is this you ask? I can guess. So can you. It likely does have a lot to do with one thing, security. I am sure some might argue the point, but the fact is, most of the folks I know are afraid to go there.

The fact is, the area will not again thrive until people feel safe going there. People will not feel safe going there until they start putting the criminals in prison. Experience has taught me that they won’t start doing that until they stop voting democrat.

Experience has told me, that might be forever. How-some-ever, it would appear that they will continue throwing good money after bad in their futile efforts to prove me wrong. No one with a head on their shoulders is going to invest in an area where people are are afraid to go and the dems are not going to make the area safe. It goes against their grain. Putting bad people in jail seems to be a foreign concept to them.

Just a Really Dumb Question

How many Super Bowls have been won by teams that have a home field that is protected from the weather?

Just wondering, does it make a team weaker?

As for me, regardless, I’d chose an indoor stadium any day. Better yet, as an observer, I have gotten very spoiled. I pretty much believe the best seat is the one in my house… My easy chair. Since the old days with the old 21 inch B&W, they have done a lot to put me in the middle it all while keeping me toasty warm.

Does it make me feel sorry for the players? Nope. They get their compensation. Moreover, it’s a game. They love it, weather or not. They struggle and fight for the chance to run around on that freezing field while running into each other.

By the way, I get the impression the announcers are having a blast too. Some might even pay to do the job. Come to think of it, I might. How-some-ever, I would definitely need to invest in a heavy coat, gloves & hat.

3 Questions, Please

How much time & money would it have cost to do a little forest management in LA County?

How much did it cost in lives, suffering & money by not doing it?

How much damage to the environment & wildlife was done in the name of saving the planet.

Well, may I ask one more. Would Captain Planet really be proud of the way the dems have managed things?
