Many decades ago, Simon and Garfunkel wrote a thoughtful piece of music that had a nice tune to it. It really caught on for quite a while. I remember I was in Nam at the time just after it came out. It seemed just about everywhere I went, someone was playing the song or soon would be.
I was reminded of it lately. I also had a thought about the doomsday preppers. These people prepare sanctuaries for the doomsday they expect. So, when the doomsday arrives, they will hide in their shelters in hopes that, after a few months or years they can return to a safe world.
I guess that Biden is a doomsday prepper, of a type. His doomsday occurred when the computer of his son turned up with all the emails and all the photos. Suddenly, he has rushed to his shelter and there he will hide, as much as he can, until it is safe to return. It is even conceivable that he will find a convenient excuse to avoid the debate. I don’t know.
But there is sound of silence. He has said little or nothing about the computer or the hard drive. He has decided to put a lid on it and he ain’t talking to nobody about it, regardless.
It is also the sound of silence from the media. They will say nothing about the computer either, other than to repeat the old “Russia, Russia, Russia thing.” I don’t think it will work this time. The sound of silence is so loud it cannot be ignored.
Finally, there is the sound of silence from anyone who decides to twit about it. The very instant that someone tries to tweet on the subject, they are silenced. Hence, it is a sound of silence.
Personally, I don’t have any accounts with any of the social media. It serves me no purpose. Besides, I don’t much like people selecting what I can say. It rather has something to do with the 1st Amendment. This is as close as I get to any such of an account. I suspect I give up many possible followers, but I write what I want. Maybe it is time for other conservatives to do the same. Maybe it is time for us to send a message to the social media. If they lose a few accounts, they just might start to understand.
Then again, we all know better. They all hate the president too much.
Oh yes, there is one more sound of silence. Hardly anyone telling the world about all the good that our president has done. I guess that is why he has to toot his own horn. And of course, you will not find President Trump cowering in some cellar hoping against hope that no one will ask that question to which there is any good answer.
