I wrote a book called “The Survivors” about five-thousand people who deal with global warming. I actually got some nice reviews on it, though not exactly glowing. The fact is that most of those who read it enjoyed it in spite of all the little grammatical errors in it.

Well I’m not writing this to sell my books even though I would not complain if I did sell a few. My point is this. I have been reminded by this pandemic of the doomsday preppers. For those who don’t know, these are people who expect some kind of doomsday event threatening all of mankind.

Some of the preppers are convinced that some kind of epidemic will come along and kill just about everyone. It sort of sounds far-fetched… until recently. China just waged the first case of modern day biological warfare, not on just the US, but on the whole world outside China. While they may or may not have invented the virus they released on us, they did intentionally release it on the world.

Fortunately, the virus is not that deadly. It only kills old folks, LIKE ME and people with diabetes, LIKE ME and people who have lung problems, LIKE ME.

I figure what we need to do to protect ourselves from the Chinese is to start preparing. I figure we all need to have spacesuits handy, like those that the astronauts wore on the first flights into space. In addition, we will all need to carry around an oxygen tank and some kinds of re-breathing device. It might be nice to have a little cart so we could pull our life support behind us wherever we go.

Our homes would have to be sealed and a have a good air system as well. That way we would not need to wear the spacesuits while watching TV. Removing them anywhere else would be risky. If you were in a restaurant or other place where even one person was carrying the virus, it could kill everyone in the place. Worse yet, we might become infected and carry it home to our families.

Let’s get realistic. Most of us would die. Most of us cannot afford spacesuits. The things are expensive. Only the rich would survive. Then, they too would die. There would not be anyone around to provide their services for them.

Really, it’s ridiculous. The real way to fix this is to make China pay such a price that they would never ever think about ever doing such a thing again. As it is, the Chinese, and Russians for that matter, just learned an important lesson. They know they can use germ warfare on us and we won’t do a thing to them. We will just sit quietly in our homes and complain to our leaders.

Personally, I think it is time to send a message to the Chinese, one that they will understand loud and clear… before there is a run on spacesuits.
