A Fast No!

The suggestion was made that Israel go after the atomic targets in retaliation. The suggestion was hardly made before Old Joe said “No!”

At first I didn’t think anything about it but I had some second thoughts and I far from being the only one. I have heard many ask the question of just why was it that Joe replied so very fast and with so much resolve.

It does make me wonder if he has US interest in mind or Iran’s. Moreover, many others have the same or nearly the same thoughts. Wish I could ask Old Joe where everyone could see him.

I am open to suggestions. Is it the one thing, the other thing or something I have not thought of?

Time to Do Away With FEMA

  1. Highly inefficient. Took a week to start helping victims of last hurricane. Then they issue a check when there is nowhere to spend it.
  2. Misdirecting of funding. A billion of FEMA money goes to illegal Aliens in two years. Old Joe and friends should go to jail for that. I think they have a name for that.
  3. A lot of red tape for people who are in a position where they don’t need a lot of red tape.
  4. A whole lot of politics when helping people should be the priority.
  5. Can anyone tell me of one person who was rescued by FEMA in any of the first 3 days after the hurricane blew through? Can anyone point to any infrastructure repaired by FEMA… to this day. Is there one gallon of water taken into North Carolina by one man carrying a FEMA I.D. in the first day, in the first three days. If someone knows of one electric generator taken in…. I think you get my point. We paid billions of dollars for FEMA and got absolutely nothing. Moreover, we will have to pay for it again. All the money we provided FEMA is long gone. And, Georgia, the Carolinas and eastern Tennessee still need a lot of help. I would suggest to them that they don’t wait to get it from FEMA.

It used to be that state militias took care of stuff like that… under the control of the governors. Most militias will already have the important stuff to help people: helicopters, heavy land equipment. The additional equipment needed could easily be added, medical, distribution and communication to name a few.

They already have stores of food and can store emergency water. Just a few heavy tractors can clear highways and roads quickly. Some of those in the state capitals care. In DC, not so much.

Finally, in really bad situations, states can share resources. They already come to the aid of each other for repair of grid systems.

Moreover, FEMA is not constitutional. It’s not the responsibility of the federal government to come to the aid of states. It’s what happens when the feds get involved in the stuff they shouldn’t. You want to improve public schools, get rid of the federal government out of them. That simple. That fast.

Perhaps my biggest complaint, distribution of funds is not equable. NY, NY gets hit by a hurricane and the victims get hundreds of thousands of dollars each. The Carolinas get hit by far more damage, and they get a few hundred dollars. Well some do get the checks. Even worse, the federal authorities stand in the way of civilians going in and helping.

If I were to lose my house, I would much rather not have any help than to have the federal government come in and say my neighbor down the street can’t help me get the tree off my house.

Well, I suppose we could keep FEMA. Just don’t let the dems control it. Make sure the dems don’t give the emergency funds to illegal aliens. Now does anyone have an idea how we do that?

It’s What He Said

It is attributed to Samuel Clemens, “If you don’t read the news, you are uninformed. If you do read the news, you’re misinformed.”

As with most humor, it is only funny because of the element of truth in it. Even back in his day, newspapers weren’t exactly accurate in their reporting. Of course, back then, there was no radio or TV. However, it would appear that to keep the saying true, both the radio and TV is making sure to maintain the tradition.

Indeed, it is true that it is difficult to find those publishing the truth, regardless of the medium.

It’s Not for Me to Say

A number of times, I have complained about people outside of Mississippi telling us how to run our state. When people who lived in Tennessee keep telling Desoto County that we want gambling casinos, I complained. I wasn’t the only one. We voted them out. They had to go down to Tunica to build their casinos. Incidentally, those that originally built casinos went out of business, I guess in a year or two. The big casino companies moved in and put them out of business. One of the big promises was that the big money from outside of the mid-south would build here. Glad we voted it down for sure now.

The fact of the matter is, the way I feel about it, they had no business using millions of dollars in campaigning here when they lived there. To be sure, it is legal. I see no way of making a law against it. However, it keeps getting more common and more difficult to stop.

I noticed there are ads on the radio on 600 WREC, fighting to keep casinos out. I have no idea who is behind trying to put casinos in, and it is none of my business. People living in Arkansas are running the ads and I feel for them. People with money have the power and they decide it is okay to use it anywhere they want to.

Truth be known, it is likely someone(s) in Tennessee trying to get casinos in Arkansas and the folks in Arkansas don’t like it.

Again, it’s not my fight. I have no business fighting for or against gambling in Arkansas. Then again, those in Tennessee have no business telling those in Arkansas what they want either. It is not right for them to try.

Incidentally, there was one time a talk show host came out against a republican running for governor. It double upset me cause it was not his business. Moreover, the republican lost and we were stuck with one of the worst governors we had in modern times for four years. The talk show host did not have to put up with the dumb dem governor. We did.

I think it is a good idea for us to remember that those state lines are there and we should respect them.

Preppers

Well, we’ve learned our lessons. If you have an R after your name, FEMA is not going to be helping you should disaster befall you. Actually, they might not help those with the Ds after their name. It’s been over a week and FEMA has just started moving into the local hotels. Well, they have started writing checks, for not much, for those who can fill out the paperwork. The checks will be worthless anyway if there are no stores left.

So, the lesson we learned, we all need to be preppers. We need to stock 50 gallons of water, at least. We need to stock a bunch of macaroni, noodles and packages of mashed potatoes and rice. I don’t know about you, but I think I’m going to get a bunch of canned meat and vegies.

Those of us with generators need to keep two days of gas nearby with the ability to get far more if we are forewarned that danger is on the way.

My wife and I are in kind of a fix. We can get 3 months of drugs at a time. However, if the disaster hits right before we are due for refills, we’re sunk. We are both diabetic. In light of what happened from the last hurricane, maybe they need to pass a law to let us old folks stock a little away… just in case.

By the way, did you notice there are two more storms forming, one in the gulf and one in the Atlantic. I wonder if anyone has told Old Joe yet. Maybe Old Joe will name these two: I don’t know and I don’t care.

FEMA Broke?

I don’t know. There have been some stories going around. Mayorkas basically is saying we are running out of funds.

I don’t know, but some have said that a billion dollars intended for FEMA has gone to illegal aliens.

I don’t know, but I would guess that this is what happens when people vote for liberal democrats. Trump has been providing more help, and he’s digging into his own pockets to do it. Sounds far more kind than Old Joe to me.

I do know this, the people devastated by this last hurricane are dying and the dems aren’t sending anyone to help. Looks to me as if the dems don’t care when people suffer and die. It does give feet to Reagan’s saying that the most scarry words in a catastrophe are, “Hello. I’m from the government and I’ve come to help.” Only, now it is so much more. true.

The Value of Gold

Gold is about 32 thousand dollars a pound. I know. I just looked it up. It might be off a few dollars. It doesn’t matter. I don’t think I’ll be buying that much.

The point is, let’s imagine that you are in the mountains of North Carolina and surrounded by the recent floods. Let’s say you can’t get away from your home. However, some kind man approaches you and he makes an offer. In one hand he holds a half pound of gold and in the other he holds a half pound of food.

He holds them out to you. You can have one or other. Which one would you want? How much is the gold worth at that point and how much is the food worth?

The reason I bring this up is to provoke thought. Every day, dozens of times a day, I hear these ads, “Buy gold. It will help in the case of disaster.”

So, I have put you in a disaster. For many, it is a very real disaster. So, are they clamoring for gold or do they want food. Some might even already have gold. None the less, they ask for water and they ask for food. After that, they ask for shelter.

The gold might look really nice but you can’t eat it. The silver is pleasing to the eye. However, it will not quench your thirst.

I am sure, most of those who are trapped in those flood conditions are far more interested in sustenance than any form of wealth. Those who were wise likely have enough water for maybe week. Hopefully, they have enough food to last a while.

On the other hand, my guess is that they have little of either. You make them an offer of gold, most of them would likely look at you as if you’re strange. Give them food and water and you’ve just made a friend.

The fact of the mater is, gold and silver are only worth what people will pay for it. Sometimes, that is nothing.

Let’s Do a Count

During the debate, Walz said that guns were the number one cause of deaths of kids. I’m not so sure about that. Does that include those who die from drugs? Does that include those who die from abortion? As long as it is not required to report all abortions, we’ll never know, will we? We will be stuck with estimates.

The hitch is that we won’t know when we don’t count those killed in drug caused car accidents or children killed by drug abused children. Then too, how many children are killed drug caused gunfire?

It is as I have said before, when people give up drugs, half the crime in this country will disappear. However, stopping the drug abuse is not something the dems want to do anything about. At best, they say we need to educate our kids. As I have said, we have been doing that for at least 6 decades without success. IT DOESN’T WORK!

No one will listen to me. No one will listen to God. When kids are taught that people, including kids are just animals, why should they treat a kid, or an unborn baby any different than a monkey? Actually, I get the impressing that many people put a higher value on monkeys.

Walz says guns kill kids. The truth is, when we turned our backs on God, that kills kids, and millions of adults too.

Pardon Me For a Few Questions

How quickly did they start getting help to NY, NY when they were hit by that hurricane about a decade or so ago? How long is it going to take FEMA to START getting aid to the victims of the last hurricane? Could it have something to do with the number of Republicans in the states affected? On the other hand, could it be that the FEMA funds went to illegal aliens?

Not saying anything. I don’t even mean to imply anything. Just wondering. Does anyone even know? I don’t.
