REPORT: Hundreds Laid off at CDC

Yup. They won’t be missed, certainly not by me. Certainly they ought not be missed by those who lost family and friends to the China virus. Certainly those who lost businesses and jobs to the the virus ought not miss them.

Actually, we just might be better off without the entire CDC. They certainly did do far more damage than good. At every fork in the road, they choose the wrong way… As if intentional.

Liquid Rock, Maybe?

One day, about thirty or so years ago, I was among a group discussing how the pyramids were built. One person made one suggestion, and another made a different suggestion. After a while, I decided to make my highly learned suggestion: “They used liquid rock.”

Clearly, I was being flippant. There is no way I believed that. Recently, however, I heard in a documentary that the Romans used very high-quality concrete and/or cement. Is it really that much of a stretch to believe that the Egyptians could have hauled those huge rocks up there, one bucket at a time?

With the abundant sand and water available, they could potentially create a sturdy structure, provided they have access to the necessary binding agent, such as cement, in the nearby vicinity.

Impossible, you might say. I saw two men on U-Tube dig a hole, select some nearby dirt, mix it with water, and apply it to the sides and bottom of the hole. Once it dried, they filled it with water. Then they swam in it.

The ancient Egyptians were renowned for their exceptional engineering and architectural prowess. The enduring remnants of their cities stand as a testament to their remarkable achievements. Even with our modern advancements in technology and machinery, it would be a challenge to replicate the grandeur and sophistication of their engineering feats.

Is it that improbable that they didn’t figure a way to mix up some kind of liquid rock?

Where’s the Slides?

To facilitate the quick and safe evacuation of commercial aircraft in an emergency, they are equipped with emergency slides. These slides are designed to work reliably and efficiently, allowing passengers to exit the aircraft quickly and safely.

While watching what was likely a passenger video of the recent accident, it became apparent that the aircraft’s emergency slides serve no purpose when the aircraft ends up inverted.

The passengers appeared calm and unhurried, suggesting a lack of urgency or panic. They seemed to be taking the situation in stride, as if enjoying a leisurely stroll in the park rather than exiting an upside down airplane. There were no visible signs of distress or alarm among the group.

I have seen the video of the landing several times. It appeared to me that the roll was the result of a collapsed main gear. It seemed to give way right on touchdown. It must have been a harrowing experience, but most so for the pilots. For the first few seconds, as the plane started rolling, it must have seemed the impossible was unfolding before their eyes. Moreover, there was nothing they could do about it.

130-Year-Olds?

Why should anyone get suspicious about people 130 years of age drawing Social Security? I mean, they would certainly be old enough.

Thing is, if we look at this seriously, we just might be able to take a big bite out of the national debt. Consider, not only would the expenditures decrease, but we just might be able to get some of the fraudulent recipients to return some of what they received. They just might prefer it to going to jail. (Not to mention we would prefer getting the money back to paying for them to go to prison, not to mention the cost of the trial)

The Ideal Airport, Maybe?

Taking off and landing a plane against the wind is generally considered best practice. This allows for shorter takeoff and landing distances, which can enhance safety. While I am not an engineer, this basic principle of aerodynamics seems logical and sensible.

Landing with a cross wind can be a challenging maneuver. To address this, the designers of the B52 aircraft incorporated a feature that allows the landing gear to be steered up to twenty degrees, providing pilots with greater control and stability during landing in windy conditions.

The key challenge in airport design is ensuring that planes can optimally perform the two most crucial phases of their flights – takeoff and landing against the wind. The goal should be to create an airport layout and infrastructure that enables efficient and safe operations for these critical flight segments.

A more practical solution would be to construct a round, man-made island. This would allow the field to be easily rotated to face the wind, making it a more viable option compared to a large round field on land.

Ironically, my idea is not nearly new. It is as old as the aircraft carrier. When the carrier is about to run operations, the very first order is to turn into the wind.

Is not an AC carrier a small island. It’s just a matter of making it a little larger and anchoring it a little offshore. There would be some obvious problems to resolve, but that’s why they have engineers. I just come up with the ideas. Certainly, you don’t expect me to actually figure out how to do it.

Free Campaign Time?

Turned on channel five Memphis news. Rep. Steve Cohen was on there griping about all the waste and corruption being uncovered. Sorry, highly predictable. Highly dishonest. Certainly, saying anything he believes will help his chances of re-election.

So, I switched to three. Five minutes later, I switched back to five. Yup, he was still there, squealing like the proverbial piglet, telling the Memphians what he knew they wanted to hear.

If you will pardon me for making comments about our neighbors north of the state line, but isn’t that campaigning? Shouldn’t he have to pay for that, at least a little?

Collusion? More like a collision of egos and empty rhetoric. The representative and the station seem to have a revolving door policy – one where the only thing that gets in is hot air. But hey, at least the dems are consistent – consistently adept at pointing fingers while their own hands are in the cookie jar.

A Million Dollars Won’t Solve All My Problems

How-some-ever, it would take a big bite out of them.

Musk’s getting rid of much of the waste and fraud won’t get rid of all of US financial problems. How-some-ever, it will take a big bite out of them.

And here’s the neat side benefit. It’s driving the dems insane. It took them a long time to establish it all. Oh, and by the way, country club rinos won’t like it much either.

Amazing the enemies a person can make by pointing out a few flaws.

Completely Slept Through All the Morning News Missed all the Sunday Morning News Shows

And I always look forward to them. Worse, I have no recorder of any kind.

I couldn’t help it. I spent the previous two days very much sick. Now my chest hurts when I laugh. This is very significant for a 78 year old. I have been using muscles I have not used in years.

I had begun being falsely convinced that I was too old for that sort of thing. I mean, we do outgrow many things, right. Why can’t we outgrow getting sick? It seems we only outgrow the good stuff. You know, the stuff like being able to jump and run.

I guess that my first big realization that I was getting old was when I was forty. I thought I was loosing my eye sight. I went to an optometrist and she explained it’s normal for 40-year-olds. It’s when we start using reading glasses. It is caused by a combination of hardening of the lenses and weakening of muscles.

There’s that word, muscle again. It seems as if it always is used in combination with aging. Did you know that you use muscles for coughing? It is true. They are rarely used. They are used when we get something caught in our throat or when we get a lower respiratory infection. I know. No one needed to tell me. I sort of figured it out.

The thing is, these muscles are used so seldom that when we get a lower respiratory infection, the muscles start really getting used hard. If it’s one or two days, not a big problem. For us oldsters, beyond three days, those muscles start getting wore out. And then again, there is that word muscle.

Hence, I have figured out how to slow down aging, at least in theory. All we need do is figure out a way to keeping our muscles from atrophying. NOW. I am open to suggestions on how to do that.

The Orange Man is Not Perfect

The Department of Energy (DOE) is responsible for nuclear security, which is an important aspect of national security. It appears there have been some unintended job losses at the DOE, which is concerning.

After the discovery, an effort was made to rehire all the affected employees. However, the TV segment acknowledged that not everyone may wish to return to their previous roles.

While the situation is regrettable, it presents an opportunity to reevaluate our approach. If employees choose not to return to their previous roles, we should consider whether those positions still align with our organizational needs and goals. This could be a chance to explore our national goals.

It would be more effective to have dedicated personnel in key positions. This would allow for specialized expertise and focused attention on important tasks.

Then again, there might be one or two with exceptional abilities. In such cases, it might be proper to provide them with wages more appropriate.

So, perhaps even the the Orange Man’s mistakes turn out for the better. Just a guess.
