The rifle found on the would-be assassin was reported to be an AK-47 ; not an AR-15, as some have said. There is a world of difference between the two. Other than to say that it has a much longer range and it is far more lethal, I’ll let you just look it up. Better so you don’t have to take my word for it. Well, I will say this. If I had to go into battle, I would much rather carry the AK-47 than an AR-15. If a person is hit by an AK-47, he is much more likely to go down and stay down.
What I would really like to zero in on are two things. First, the man was a felon. By law, he was not permitted much over a sling shot. The law did not prevent the criminal from getting the rifle. In general, the law does not prevent any criminal from getting guns. Laws only prevent the law abiding from gaining weapons.
I sincerely would like to know where the weapon came from. We can’t find out, unless he tells us. There was no serial number. It was removed. Whereas, in some cases, they can raise the serial number, it is not always successful. However, even if they do get the number, good luck on chasing it down, especially if it was reported stolen 2 years ago.
From what I understand, he was from Hawaii. I don’t think he brought the weapon with him. He had to have acquired it after arrival, in a strange area surrounded by strange people. I am sure he could not just walk up the guy on the corner and ask, “Do you happen to know where I can buy an AK-47 with a scope?”
Well. I do have my own personal opinion. I won’t be specific with evidence, but I would guess the person he got the gun from had a “D” after his name. I mean I don’t know but it only seems logical.
Another thing that has caught my attention, where did they get these Secret Service agents? The man had laid in place for, what 12 hours. It is a good thing the man is not much of a sniper. Had he really known how to hide in the bushes, no one would have ever spotted him until it was too late. The agent said that the only reason he saw him was because of the barrel of the gun. Had the man hidden the barrel, it could have turned out much worse.
I guess in order for Pres. Trump to go golfing any more, they will have to have him do it from within a bullet proof booth. I suppose they could put one on wheels.
