The Contested Medal

The news has posted a story about sports. Nothing new there. They have more sports than news. Yet, this one caught my interest, though I rarely pay attention to sports. In this case, the woman is contesting a medal that she won during the Olympics. The way I figure it is as I stated it. Apparently the woman actually won the contest. If I were to find out I had not won a medal, I would not try to hold onto it. If I had the physical medal, it would not be of much value to me if I knew the other really won it.

I don’t know if it is even possible to relinquish ownership of the medal. However, it would speak volumes to give up that which I did not truly win. It also speaks volumes of the one unwilling to give it up, doesn’t it.

On the other side of the coin, so to speak, if the officials were wrong, why is it that they can’t simply admit it? It all the more makes me look forward to computerized umpires in the major league. Sports, all sports would be a lot more fun, more enjoyable without the officiating.
