I Don’t Do Surveys

I generally receive 2 or 3 calls a year wanting me to take a survey. Many years ago I jumped at the chance to let my opinion be known. Then, I guess about 20 years ago, I decided to put a stop to that.

I have three reasons. Now let me see. How is it that you spell neusance? (It took me 3 times before the spell checker accepted it) As I said, they call me 2 or 3 times a year and always at a bad time.

Secondly, they love to put words in my mouth. That is to say, they word their questions in such a way so that they get the answers they want instead of what I think.

Finally, sometimes they expect a yes no reply when yes or no is not accurate. The best example is the question asked me, are you in favor of immigration?

It was a stupid question and the woman who wrote the survey knew it. I found out three days later that I was not the only one upset with the question. Yet she made it clear that she thought it was a good question. It told me a lot more about her than what she found out about me. It was obvious she wanted me to say something I was totally against, regardless of which way I replied.

It is an advantage of my blog. Anyone who wants to know what I think need only read my my posts. I pretty well put it out there for all to read on just about all subjects.

As for the immigration thing: Anyone going through all the laws and doing it legally should be welcomed as long as they are willing to put their former flag aside and completely give their allegiance to their new country, as in their vow. If they spend 4 years in any military branch, it should be almost automatic. Finally, and certainly, they need to follow our laws, not the laws and or customs from whence they came. Those who don’t like our laws can return to their native country at any time.

Personally, I think coming into this country illegally should be a felony and those who break that law should be punished before they are returned. A year or two of that and illegal immigration would greatly be reduced.
