The Plans of Mice and Men

My Nissan Ariya was down to about 30% so I decided that while we went out for lunch, I’d also get it charged up. Well that was the plan. The Internet showed that there are three charge stations. The one at the Nissan dealer, I already knew about. I wanted to find something else in case the one at the dealer wasn’t available.

So we set out to Sam’s Club. Couldn’t find it…the charger. I’ve been to the store a few times. To make matters worse, I used quite a bit of the charge just waiting in line. That was a bad idea. Next time I’ll call ahead and see if they will give me a little better instructions. Or, for that matter, if they will let me use it without being a Sam’s Club member.

No big thing. Right across the street are more chargers. Two problems. I couldn’t get to them and they likely had no power to them anyway. The police had the access blocked… a bunch of police. A dump truck driver forgot to lower the bed after dumping his load and wiped out several power wires and power poles. No power on that side of the road for a block and a half. Worse, the traffic was backed up, causing me to use more power.

At this point, I figured it was time to go back to Old Faithful, the dealership. More problems. They disconnected the charger because of some remodeling. Moreover, there was hardly anyone there. One man told me they had one at the Chevy place. How revolting. I was going to have to go back to the place I bought my HHR.

Fortunately, they did in fact have a charger they had put in the day before and it was a simple matter of moving a Tesla out of the way to get to it. An hour later, mission accomplished, I left, of course after paying the Chevy dealer and thanking them. (still don’t like the Chevy)

As bad as my day was, I don’t think it was all that bad. I’d sure hate to be that poor dump truck driver.
