As I consider back over the years, I have decided of all the time I spent in school was woodshop in junior high. First, I have no idea why the class was required for all boys, but it was.
If maybe we were required to make bird houses or the like, I might understand. However, the first thing that was required for us was to use a planer to square a small block of wood.
About the only thing I learned in that wasted semester is that I can’t square a block of wood. By the way, neither could about half the boys in the class. That meant we got Fs in the class. You would think someone, somewhere, somehow in one of those higher offices might have figured out the uselessness of it.
Then too. It was a public school. That would be expecting too much. That would be expecting excellence in education. That is foreign to public schools.
